Aira Misono is a run-of-the-mill high school girl. She never imagined that she'd be summoned to another world, let alone declared its savior. Yet from the moment the handsome Prince Kyle lays eyes on her, he's convinced that she's the long-awaited Holy Saint destined to banish darkness from his world. Aira herself maintains significant doubts. Is she really up to this challenge? She might be able to use magic, but is she really a Saint? Aira's fears and struggles only deepen when the woman summoned alongside her begins to look more and more like the one who truly deserves that title.
I always thought the pieces we saw of Aria in the original series were interesting and wanted to see more of her story, but I don't know if I actually managed to see much of that here. There was no time to connect with her, the story jumping from scene to scene rapidly, and most of it we were already aware of from the original series.
This needed to linger on her, to let us know how she was feeling and who she really was. This is obviously using the original series as a crutch, and is hoping that we won't care too much.
Also, while the art tried extremely hard to match the original the eyes were so vacant it was odd in comparison.
I'll give the next one a shot, but if it does not start to stand on its own I won't continue past that.
Unfortunately, I couldn't even make it past the first quarter of this volume before I gave up and skimmed the rest. The art is beautiful and all the characters I deeply love in the main series are there, but it just isn't the same. :/
I will say that the beginning gave me a very different perspective of how I originally viewed Aria in the main series. The rumors really didn't affect me viewing her in a negative light, but this story showed that she was a young woman who knew no one and had no one, so she "clung" to the Prince who looked out for her.
Even if I am going to be passing on the rest of the series, I am glad I at least gave this a try!
This series follows the life of Aira Misono—the so-called saint who was summoned to this other world along with Sei, who is the main character in the main series.
Honestly, I am enjoying this sequel. I appreciate how the story follows both Aira’s practical and emotional journey as she adapts to her role in this new world.
Also, I appreciate how this series chooses not to put the two primary female characters against each other—as it so easily could have done. Rather, the two young females are not defined by their conflict with each other so much as they are defined by the choices they make and the integrity of their characters.
Definitely recommend this series as well as the main series! This is how you do an isekai right~
I love the the original series for this aka, The saint’s magic power is omnipotent but this one sorta fell flat for me. This is from what I know a short side story about the “other saint” but it just feels rushed, I wanted more back story on why the prince felt like he had to coddle the girl he summoned and it talks very briefly, I’m wondering if it’s because they wanted to catch up to where the original story is at but it just seemed rushed. The art is still beautiful though !
Instagram: @sandrasmangas
In the anime we're given this side of the story side by to Sei's from about halfway on, so we can see that Aira (who's only 16) is mostly a young girl who is confused and just wants to repay the kindness she is receiving. Prince Kyle is largely shown as at fault; though unlike in the anime, the GN paints it more as a selfish, immature desire to not be wrong rather then him playing up his ignorance when he realizes the mistake he made so that Aira is in a better position.
Aira is a very passive person, which makes her a bit tiresome to follow. Her inner thoughts don't quite match her actions as she clearly begins to understand that Prince Kyle was placing her at a disadvantage and unintentionally pressuring her greatly.
The end, with her realizing what she wants (to study magic) and becoming friends with Sei, is heartwarming and sweet.
I've read only manga volume 1 of the Saints Power is Omninent and seen the first anime season. ( I'm excited for the second one.) I've been curious about Aira character for some time, only learn small bits and pieces from Sei and other characters and brief interactions. It's wonderful to get to see the world through Airas eyes and learn more about her, adapting to her new life in another world and meeting some familiar characters who help and support her every step of the way. Even the illustrations are beautiful. I really enjoyed this volume. ☺️
While this was mostly a recap to catch readers up to where Aira’s up to in the main story, there were some fun new content in interludes and such. Also the art was really pretty.
I do think the perspective on and motivations we get for Prince Kyle are really interesting. They also seem to differ slightly from what’s presented in the anime, which is really interesting and something I wasn’t quite expecting.
I’m really excited to read the next volume, because I feel like that’s where we’ll have room to fly into more original stuff and less recap.
That said, I would definitely recommend reading the main series before this one - it is a spin off, after all.
It seems even with Prince Kyle's insistence, Aira herself suspected she truly wasn't the Saint everyone kept talking about. If anything, her apathy and fear of being abandoned kept her situation as it was and may have fed into his behavior as he continued to think it was okay in his role as "protecting the saint." It's clear to see he took it too far and was blinded by his own foolish stubbornness and fear. Thankfully, Aira gets along rather well with everyone on her own and truly does have her own desire to be successful, especially once she's able to talk to Liz and Sei. It's good to see her coming out of her own shell and finding her own place.

This volume is an abridged recap of what happened in the main series, but from Aira’s POV. As such it’s nothing new, except for a glimpse into Aira’s thinking process and why she clung to Kyle so hard. There were a few small discrepancies, such as I seem to remember Aira did see Sei at the summoning, and i thought the grand mage assessed her first. Kyle really is an idiot from this perspective.
I think the artist changed or was over simplifying - it’s ok but the characters look a little bland, as if they are cardboard cutouts.

I thought this was going to be a rehash from the main story but there were some other scenes that tied them together. I am still glad that Sei and Aira are able to friends instead of rivals.
The plot twist of Prince Kyle doing all that so that her reputation would not be ruined is something I am still on the fence about.
I wonder if Aira will have a romance with Mark, one of Prince Kyle aids. It does kind hint that maybe.
re-hashing what we already know from the main series, but from aira's perspective...definitely makes me a lot more sympathetic to her!! don't think I love her as much as sei, but we'll see as the series progresses.

7/24 2.5 Stars. The original series started slow yet with potential and became more interesting, but this slow start has very little potential. I have the first 3 volumes so I'll give the next a try, but my expectations are really low.
Less than 20% of this is new content — I don’t know who would read this spinoff without reading the main series, but they seemed to have decided tho rehash every single detail we knew about Aira in this volume instead of focusing on what we didn’t see and giving more dimension to her story.
Loved seeing this universe from the other "saint's" perspective. Ends at roughly the same spot as the books as they are in when Sei goes on the Misma trip.
I will say that, this first volume at least, is pretty much a speed run of the original series. So if you don't want spoilers, you probably don't want to read this series until you've read at least through The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent (Manga) Vol. 5 (possibly volume 6 too). After that, Sei kinda goes off to do her own thing so this series veers off to follow Aira.
It's not the most compelling read (cause it leaves out a lot of the world building of the original series) but it's a decent start.
