Eric has started a new school, but something seems off. The students are tired and listless, almost as if something is sapping their strength. Could this have anything to do with the folktale Hay Lin recently heard about, the monster that drains the energies of its victims?
Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.
Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
Another wonderful start to a new story arc of W.I.T.C.H. A new enemy and new allies are introduced and I'm excited to see where it goes, but the real highlight here is the story of how Irma's father met her step-mother and the growth of her relationship with Irma.
Also loved the progression of Hay Lin/Eric's and Cornelia/Peter's relationships. I really love how this story gives as much detail to the continuing day to day lives of the girls as it does to the adventure stuff. We even get some updates on how Will and her mom are adjusting to Dean moving in.
(There were a few more typos than usual, hopefully that was just a fluke...)
had a really fun time with this volume, not a lot to say other than that since were 17 volumes in now haha. Will say I kinda wish I didn't take like 2 years between this volume & the last (although I had my reasons) since I feel like there were a handful of over-arching plot threads I'd just forgotten - still nothing bad.
Sometimes the story felt a bit rushed in places, but despite that, the story was way too much fun. Things are starting to tie in, and I'm looking forward to the next one. I missed this world.
This book felt rather slow to me. Sure, it had an interesting story - or at least the beginning of one - but about half of this book was filler-episodes - one was even a beach-filler! - and I found I had trouble getting invested in the characters daily-lives - which is fascinating in a book this far into the series. I mean, I know them pretty well by now!
I also caught myself wondering about the art. It feel slike it's gone more to a big-eyes-thin-waist-stage than it was originally, sexualising the girls more than in the early books, which doesn't really work for me either. But, I'm commited to this series now, and will continue reading it, if only to know how it all ends!
That said, I'm considering doing a reread of the early books, but not the later ones. The first and second story-arc are my jam!
This was the first time in the series where the story started out great but then some areas felt rushed and others elongated. I really liked the set up for this new villain and how Hay Lin went to Eric’s town. I really liked exploring the girls having a good balance between team work and independent life. Irma’s story with her family, particularly her step mum, was really sweet and it’s always nice to see my favourite character make mistakes and learn from them. I felt it was random and really rushed when Yan Lin was abducted by the creatures that had lost all hope yet cute how they were desperate for her wisdom to help them get back to their old life. Overall w.i.t.c.h. is still very enjoyable and I hope the next two books for this story in the series flow a bit better.
While the 1st chapter is an intro to the main threat of the 6th Arc, the Singyu chapter is super inspiring. This is what I have always loved in this series: hope, the positive, life lessons, beautiful things and thoughts. This is simply the Law of Attraction. The way you believe in something. Smile, be positive and imagine the best, the world and life will smile back at you. Each volume of the Witch is profound and asks a different question.
This book is so touching! We learn a lot about Irma’s family (and how Will’s new dad disrupts her daily life 😂). Irma is my favorite Witch, she has always been, even if I thought I preferred Hay Lin in primary, Irma is perfect.
ENG I'm always so happy to find the girls and their adventures. But I have to admit that I really liked these volumes !! I like the fact of seeing them grow, mature. And then the little stories on the side of the main one are really great and made me smile. In short, I'm happy !
And so a new arc starts and I can finally, after years after the Dutch serialization stopped, continue! I didn't even need to know much, haha, there were a few things that confused me, but after the vacation I want to get up to date again. For now I wanted to see if I could read it, yes, yes, I could. It was tons of fun to see the girls again, meet a new enemy, see old and new characters, enjoy the magic and the adventure, and so much more! I love love this series so much and I cannot wait to buy more of these and get all the books! Squee!
Cada uno de los capis tiene algo increíble. El plotwist del primero, la relación entre cornelia , irma y peter del segundo, la backstory de la madre de irma o la introducción de una nueva chica mágica del último. Este es un volumen que disfruté un montón.
Such fun twists and turns through out though the lack of reflection and how orbre is dealing with things was disappointing hopefully more in later novels
This arc felt a bit more mature. The monster was scarier. The danger felt more real. I read the last two arcs faster than the others and I think it says that I'm enjoying them more!
Pirmas skyrius suintrigavo, antras apie nieką, trečias išvis iš šiknos ištraukta drama apie Irmos mamą ir tik ketvirtas labai patiko, suintrigavo ir noriu skaityti toliau.
When Hay Lin begins to investigate a creature lurking around Eric's new town, she and W.I.T.C.H learn of the ragorlang, creatures that feed off energy and are controlled by a being that has set their sights on the air wielder, all while dealing with a potentially dangerous new exchange student! Gnone will keep fans engaged with every twist and turn in the start of this new, exciting arc. Can the girls figure out what these new enemies want from them before their town ends up the next victim?
