Winner of the Stockton Children's Book Award, the Bedfordshire Book of the Year Award and Sheffield Children's Book Award, Peter now visits over 100 schools a year across the globe, spreading an enthusiasm for reading, writing and story-telling.

His remarkable ability to capture the imagination of young people, engaging the most reluctant of readers with his tales of spooky happenings has led to fan mail from students who remember his presentations from ten years ago or more and are off to university, or writing books of their own.

Born and brought up on a council estate in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Pete left school with few qualifications. Feeling ill suited to an academic lifestyle he followed in the family tradition of working in the dangerous steel works of Sheffield. What happened over the next 30 years is an amazing story...

I think Mokee Joe is a book filled with tight pages and cliff hangers, always persuading me to progress through it. At the end of every chapter, some plot twist would leave me with questions that needed to be answered thus leading me on with reading the book. I finished the book in a day and that too, with ease.

Mokee Joe is about a monster who's main purpose is to kill the the main character, Hudson. Hudson has an angel protecting him and she helps guides him in what to do and how to navigate his way past the persistent monster. Hudson was not aware of Mokee Joe's presence until he was indicated about him during his dream. He soon came to realise that the dream was a word of warning and he really was in danger. At the end, Hudson managed to fight Mokee Joe off with his friends after out manoeuvring the beast.

I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a thrilling/scary read but I felt the book has a low age group and is for younger kids then I am. The words are simple and vocab is not too rich so it is clear that the book was meant for a younger age group then myself. Never the less reading the book was worth while and very interesting.

1.I like my book because it is about a boy who is haunted by a monster in his dream. For example in page 64 hudson the boy mine was empty because he was fritend by mokee joe the monster.

2.You would like this book if you like books when little kids get scared in there dream. One person who will like this book is brandon because he likes books that do things that is happening tp hudson.

3.There were no challenging thins in or about this book.

4.The theme about this book is never wacth scary movies that you cant forget before you go to sleep.

This edition was published after the two sequels, Mokee Joe: Recharged and Mokee Joe: The Doomsday Trail. At the end, there's a prologue of Mokee Joe: Recharged but there's also an ad for Mokee Joe: The Doomsday Trail, revealing how Mokee Joe: Recharged ends. I don't really understand why they did that.

Anyway, I first read this in 2009 and I got it signed by Peter J. Murray. It was at a local book event when I was interviewing him for my school Internet radio station. It is children's literature, which is why it's not as good as I remember it being. The plot becomes less interesting as it goes along. Hudson has a guardian angel telling he him what needs to know and what he needs to do but I do have good memories of the book, so that's good.

Peter J Murray visited my school and introduced us to the Mokee Jo series, and that was when I discovered my interest for horror-themed stories. Definitely made me fall in love with reading as a child.

I found some bits of this book was rather silly, if a super strong scary monster is after you...why would you go and sit in a shed? Anyway, good pace, good (if weird) plot.

This book gave me nightmares the whole way through to the end!!!!! This book is about a boy who was adopted and could not remember anything before he was seven!! He has no belly button and has a wierd voice in his head that can lift him out of his body that he calls guardian angel and to make him even stranger he gets sent a strange message and gets followed round by this wierd gut that wants to kill him!!!!!
