A shadow moves over Kandrakar, and the Oracle can feel it stirring. When a member of the Congregation questions his recent decisions and his involvement in human affairs, Kandrakar's leader suddenly finds himself on trial! The girls are called to testify, but given their recent treatment by the Oracle, will they stand with him or against him...?
Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.
Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
I love rereading these comics more with every book I've read. This story really takes a turn and while I remember the broad strokes of the story I forgot a lot of the details making this a very exciting read.
Good news: Elyon is back! ELYON is back! W.I.T.C.H. once again returns to a very personal conflict that directly affects our main team, which in my opinion is when this series shines. As opposed to the team helping random worlds like Arkhanta. Elyon has also been rather under utilized since the initial arc, so seeing her having a starring role here is a wonderful turn of events.
The renewed focus on the Oracle's character is also interesting, and I'm excited to see where this goes.
The art is as beautiful and detailed as ever.
Bad news: Will and Matt continue to fight about nothing.
The Congregation has brought the actions of the Oracle into question, and the mistrust formed between him and W.I.T.C.H leads to a new Oracle being chosen, all while the girls are dealing with the decrease in their magic back home. Gnone will keep fans excited with this new arc full of emotion and friendship that will stick with readers for sure. Can Will and her friends get it together in time to save their grades and please the new Oracle?
~quick thoughts~ • the build up feels much more uniform • WHAT THE ASDFASDFASDF IT'S • Will is ewill (evil), she needs to fix her angst not leaking into her friendships • , jealous Will better be gone!
We will say that every 2-3 months, I once again become completely fan of this series. As said in previous posts on Witch, an arc is spread over three volumes. So if you want a smooth reading, fast enough and not mind-boggling, reading a full part is great.
In this fourth one the Oracle is quickly replaced by Endarno, who is not at all the one he claims. He plays horrible tricks on girls, going so far as to erase the existence of Cornelia from the memory of all those around her, except the other four. The nascent Will/Matt couple suffered some difficult turning points, Orube being the source of their conflict after the catastrophic passage of the astral drops. Overall, we are dealing with a promising and quite interesting arc, which I think marks a decisive change in the development of the plot. Questions become more complex, a wide variety of subjects are treated and our schoolgirls are forced to be more mature than their age.
My collection is filling up and I hope it will one day be complete. Yen Press did their very best on the illustrations that were those of the magazines, it is very nice to be able to dive back into my childhood (while making it last).
Question of the day: this time none, just enjoy your life to the fullest and have a good big smile on your face!
So I seem to remember some of these characters and story lines, but not all of them, so there is a possibility I read this far in the comic when it came out in Norwegian when I was a teen, but I honestly don't remember if I continued buying the comic or just read it in the store - I'm still angry at my uncle for throwing away the comics when I gave them to my cousin. Like they weren't fit for her to read...
Anyway, this book opens up a new chapter in the story of W. I. T. C. H. which I found rather interesting. The whole thing coming back to bite the Oracle in the but story arc is fitting, but I can't help being annoyed at how stupid the wise men are - that said, this is a rather good premonition of the U. S. election a few years back, it's almost scary! I'm also a little annoyed at the Will/Matt arc, even if I like how it turn out toward the end of this book, the build up is so cliche! I find the butterfly story interesting, though. I've always found stories like that intriguing, so it was right up my alley.
The art is still on point and I'm looking forward to reading on, as I always do with this series!
This one is up there for me with volume 8! The story is starting to move into more familiar territory for me - I'm starting to actually recognise the stories. Probably indicative of at what time (during my childhood) I started actually paying some attention to the storyline, and stopped simply ogling the artwork. Thus the nostalgic hit from this volume was higher. I recognised a lot, and the story was exciting to me.
Won't be able to complete this story arc for a while yet, as I don't currently own the next two volumes, but I'll try to not spend too much time away from the series. I'm hoping to start buying 1-2 volumes a month, to keep the W.i.t.c.h momentum going.
My childhood in comics. I never read them all and decided to try and finish them.
3.5 stars This review is for the whole trial of oracle. I guess I didn't like it as much as the others. I don't like when villains return, I find it a bit boring. I did enjoy seeing another side of the oracle!
In witch always things get solved by the power of friendship and magic so I'll forgive the things that don't make much sense to happen.
Interesting plot twist regarding the Oracle, but sad to see Will get hit with yet another case of cliched teenage romantic angst. All's well that ends well, I guess, but we'd better not see her get insanely jealous and cold a fourth time the moment another girl even breathes around Matt! It's called either learning from your mistakes or admitting you're not ready for a healthy relationship...
Bloody loved this volume. It bodes so well for the next one. I love that Phobos is back and that we are hopefully going to get to spend some more time with Elyon and Caleb. Also that there is more talk about the girls having their own minds and choosing to be guardinas rather than being forced and tricked into certain things. Remains my nostalgia read that has a tight hold on my heart!
These books are addicting and I think it's pretty cool how we're tying things back in with the first couple of books. As always, it broke my heart, made it melt, and made it soar.
