"As long as I am breathing, you are safe. I am Ace Craige, your shield, your bulletproof, your knight... my queen."

At first, I was actually quite proud of KIB for having the opportunity to publish his work - that first came into popularity on a writing website called Wattpad. Considering it has gathered 70+ million reads online and was able to attract the eyes of a Filipino publishing company, so I thought "this book might be good".

But I was bloody wrong.

This book was both terrible and unfair. And here's why. . .

I supposed every single one of us was expecting a published work to be fully edited and has been through a lot of revising and drafting for the best results. But no, this book is a first draft and not a good one at that. And yes, it's traditionally published.

Can't see the unfairness yet? Well, a lot of writers took years to perfect their crafts and we're not even talking about the actual querying and all of that publishing stuff that almost takes longer than the actual writing process, and this book got published just because of its large audience? So does this mean that writers should take popularity into consideration more than making quality content just because some publishing companies care more for their reputation than their writers?

I'm not saying that popular books don't deserve to be published, I'm actually onboard with that because it's a good advantage for marketing, but for pete's sake, make it quality enough to be worth the read and the money if you ever dreamed of acquiring long-lasting success.

And that's where the "terrible" comes in. First off, grammar errors. It had a ton of it. I would've been more forgiving if this was only the wattpad version. But this is the actual book we're talking about. Did this book even went through an editor? Probably not. Filipino language isn't even that hard to write if you're a native, and simple rereading can easily correct those errors.

Second, the plot. What the heck? What kind of a book would have an unfinished ending? I know this is a series, but still, every book needs to have some sort of conclusion even if you desired making a cliff hanger for future books. This novel contains plotholes and lacks climax, tension, and reason. Like why these kids never even tried plotting their escape? Why does this thing even happening? How do these handsome students got more authority than their teachers? And why do they even bother having celebrations and parties if they're just killing each other every night? Does studying in this university even matter if killing is a law?

Overall, this was a disappointing read. It had a unique concept, but the execution was lacklustre. There are a lot more books with unique concepts that are better than this one.

Kids, 'wag niyo na 'to basahin. Parang awa niyo na, para sa parents niyo rin 'to. Don't waste your time on nonsense that is this piece of trash. You'll thank me in the future.

To PSICOM, the publisher of this book. Kahit na napakaliit ng tyansa na mabasa niyo 'to pero ang sarap lang kasing sabihin na, Mukha kayong pera! Did you even consider if there was a point in that "story"? Ano'ng pinatunguhan? I'm pretty sure you're fully aware na mga batang maghihit pa lang ng puberty ang consumer sa minamarket niyo na 'yan. Nakakahiya kayo. Basta alam niyong sikat, sige publish. Kahit walang kakwenta kwenta ang plot basta patok sa masa AT KIKITA KAYO NANG MALAKI.

Bakit ako ganito kaapektado? Dahil ang 13-year-old na ako ay nabiktima na ng publishing company na 'to. I won't mention the story that it published but it was way back 2013. Noong akala ko iyon na ang pinakamagandang istorya na nabasa ko. Siyempre, bago pa sa mata kapag nagawang paper back noon so the HYPE was exaggerated. As in. Now I just regret that I spent 500php+ for some garbage; I can't bear to flip the first page.

Don't show and sell some poorly written shits nationwide. PSICOM knows very well that they could influence a lot of KIDS to write the exact same formula— stir crappy dialogues, add some corny tales, plus haluan ng 'gorgeous male' characters NEVER MIND THE GRAMMAR basta 'yong kikiligin ang mga bata dahil sa sensitivity ng hormones nila.

Tumigil na kayo, tama na pangunguha ng pera sa madla. Spread wisdom and don't distract the people with another ignorance. God knows our locals are needed to be educated A LOOOOT.

I would rather read the terms of service than this one. It’s horrible beyond perception. I have never disliked a book more than this one. It’s an utter disgrace to those who actually write for a passion, and trees. How could a country start from being saved through a piece of literature to publishing shit books like this one? Is literature dead in the Philippines? I think publishing books from an online site filled with hormonal teenagers was a bad idea. Wattpad is wattpad, there’s nothing wrong with amateur writers but there’s so many things wrong in publishing an unpolished work. All must be blamed to the publishers, making profit out of children who have no absolute taste in BOOKS. This is a badly written romance, a badly written horror, hell it’s not even horror to begin with. Shallow and a disgrace to the invention of the printing press.

This is more than disappointing, wala bang editors or critics na nagbasa at nag-ayos nito bago ipublish?

i can't believe i finished this. i wanna kms. i have so much to say... spoilers ⚠️

for a famous wattpad book, it sure does have a lot of spelling and grammatical errors. it's a blessing i only read this in wattpad not the published book. i hope the published version is edited 😔 this has lots of reads and people like this, that's why i read it. i just wasted my time reading this shit; i really thought it was gonna get better bUT IT DIDN'T.

first of all, very confusing plot and characters. there are so much loopholes. second, very inconsistent characters. the main female character, zein, is apparently a badass character. she did nothing but cry! she didn't fight back especially when needed. and her thoughts?? they're so annoying! she always thinks about how her friends would feel when all they did was keep secrets. like bitch stop feeling guilty they're a bunch of hypocrites anyway, oh, they're also annoying. they're all so gullible and just plain stupid. one of them would do something bad and dangerous that affects their friendship and then with a simple explanation they're all goods?? also ace, there was a line that zein mentioned that ace is a logical leader but he is so not. there are so much possible solutions and answers to the problems but he didnt even try any, at least once. he's a weak and useless leader (i still think this even if i already found out THE plan).

third, there are a lot of unanswered questions. i was in chapter 11 that time but i already finished the book and i still have so much questions. it mentioned that i should read the sequel (chasing hell) to finally get the answers, but i need a break from reading anything from this author. fourth, the writing and dialogue are so cringey! it's hard to read because of the errors but it was harder with the weird ass lines.

fifth, i love romance. it's my favorite genre. i love reading mystery books with romance as a subplot but this... tHIS WAS ASS! ace's confession came out of nowhere. there were a few signs showing that he's a little fidgety with zein but the confession was rushed and completely out of nowhere.

i'm just gonna say it again. zein did nothing but cry. she was so clueless. she doesn't fight back. she's not a badass character, she's stupid.

THE WRITING SUCKS BUT I WAS SO CURIOUS. i was so desperate to find what readers like in this that's why i forced myself to finish this monstrosity.

if there was a chance, i would've rated this a 0. maybe a .5 star because i still finished this book.

This wasn't like the way I expected it to be. I don't know why this is so popular. There are so many mystery/thriller that deserves the recognition more than this. Not to be harsh but this story was one of the stories that I read on wattpad that is an eye-sore. The grammar, the plot holes, and the cringe love story between Ace Craig and Zein. But I'm glad that KIB improved a little in his other stories.

Honestly, it was good and bad(?)
Here are some point to what I liked:
1. I love how the friendship between sila Matt, Zein, etc. was just so strong to the fact that they tried to do things that would risk their own life for the sake of theirs.
2. For me who likes romance novels, I super love how nakakakilig siya??

Dislikes:
1. Super laking grammatical errors, I super hate na parang the story didn’t parang, go through an editor to fix all the errors, grammatically or spelling.
2. Hindi ko gets how ‘yung mga “makasalanan” is mapupunta lang doon sa dungeon na ewan, when in the end malalaman natin na it’s a way out. Couldn’t people just go out doon one night and make up an excuse na they were killed noong bloody night???
3. The fact that student body councils were more superior than the faculty and admins themselves. And couldn’t all the students just attack the lady na I forgot what name it is. Like ang dami dami nila and for that time, mag-isa lang siya or I don’t know. Then they all escape na doon sa dungeon.
4. Super cringe ng mga names ng places and events huhu. It felt like wala na talagang maisip ‘yung author on what to name them.
5. What about ‘yung parents ng students? Hind ba sila nag-aalala sa mga anak nila at ang napaka tagal naman sila hanapin?????
6. If the two gangs were just pretending to hate each other, and if everything was just fake, why did they have to kill the innocent ones if the main goal was to bring down the school faculty?

Super nacoconfuse ako sa main plot niya, but If KIB is really an aspiring author, they really need practice on writing, both English and Filipino languages to avoid grammar and spelling error. And kailangan talaga i-proofread ‘yung mga masterpiece niya, it’s super frustrating na ang ganda ganda ng pagkakabasa mo pero may biglang error sa sentence. Keep it up KIB!

this book is great though if you want to find something that is perfect, maybe this won't be for you :). you may find this overly fictional but that's the point of the book. that's why it's written in the genre: fiction. i've been a fan of the writer because of this book and this is also the very first *physical* book i've got that is because of wattpad! i think that this is great, considering the GENRE and maybe the DISCLAIMERS. read this if u have a thing for flawed characters, plot, and rom/mystery/thriller kind of genre. :)

This book makes me laugh and mad. As well as curious, lalong-lalo na sa name ng book "Hell University". And yung plot okay din naman.

I won't make this long, but to filipino bookworms you guys should try read this too.

Hindi ko alam kung ano iyong tamang term dito pero parang di ko bet ang mga character description. Hirap akong i-visualize sila kapag pagbabasihan ko lang iyong nasa book. Sa world building naman, okay kahit paano. Unique iyong plot nito. Sana mag improve pa kasi promising talaga ang story.

Hell University is honestly just a cringe-ass Wattpad novel i decided to reread for no reason other than to ragebait myself.

Like, the writing?? Sucks. The lines are so lame, the pacing is everywhere, and the grammatical errors are way too many. Which is disappointing considering almost ten years na since it was written, the author could’ve at least cleaned it up a bit. I first read this when i was 13 but never finished kasi natatakot pa ako noon sa concept na bloody night. Reading it now? The only horror here is the writing quality.

The dialogues are so cringe to the point na minsan napapahinto nalang ako.The plot is chaotic, the scenes feel like they were written in one sitting, and the funniest part is reading the comment section on wattpad. As in, akala ko horror-thriller ’to? Bakit parang comedy kahit nagpapatayan na? I found myself laughing more than anything pero hindi in a good way.

I reread this since there's an upcoming film adaptation and i forgot to finish it a few years ago, which sparked my interest and curiosity—with the expectation that the plot twist and ending would be amazing and somehow justify the cringe storyline. but i still ended up writing a bad review of the novel, hoping that no other teenager wastes their time reading it unless gusto nila na ragebait like me.

To be fair, I get why some people liked it. My 13-year-old self would’ve liked this story because she had questionable taste and just wanted something funny and kilig. It became a wasted potential for the unique concept because of how poorly written it is and the execution. Definitely not something I’d ever reread again.

Likes:

1.) Raze Silvenia and Samantha.
My curiosity for these two character is a big factor why i finnish the novel but then end up being disappointed.

2.) “Sampung hakbang palayo kay supremo“ hahahaha i liked how hurt they we're. i felt kinda sorry but i got fed up with all the cringe moments they had that i enjoyed the scene na finally maghihiwalay at sasaktan muna nila isat isa.

3.) I just liked the action scenes and the mysterious thriller vibes in the beginning hahaha

4.) Kinilig ako nung binuhat ni Ace si Zein haha, tapos nung nagyakapan sila after ma-comatose si Zein and they told each other how much they missed each other. Lalo na nung nasa verge of death sila like there’s this romantic excitement in how Ace protected his queen. Mas kinilig din ako nung panahong hindi sila nagpapansinan tapos titigan nalang sila, like that part where they were clearly yearning for each other kesa sa mga corny na linyahan hahaha

Dislikes:

1.) The ending is so cringe with the random scenes of angel & matt and raze&allison. Its also a cliffhanger with no proper conclusion.

2.) Ace random confession out of nowhere is so funny. Wala pa ngang any significant scene na mapapasabi ako that he deserves to confess lol yeah I'm just not a fan of a trope that's not slow burn.

3.) Ace and Angel kissing passionately is the biggest yuck. I could never understand whatever reason it is kahit drunk siya kahit lugmok siya pero KILALA NIYA KUNG SINO HINAHALIKAN NIYA. Hindi ko yan malilimot. Red flag hahaha

4.) The student council is more powerful than the faculty and admins just doesn't make sense. Tapos grabe dami nilang stocks na pagkain sa canteen ah since tumagal ng ilang years to feed students cuz they won't let them out para magin test subjects for the missing formula blah blah

5.) The "plan" and plotwist in the end is not really surprising to the point that it would make my jaw drop. I was expecting more.

6.) grabe ang tagal nila sa Hell University tapos di man lang nagawan ng paraan ng mga parents or hinanap man lang.

7.) Cringe names hahahaha black blood gang and devil god warrior tapos palabas lang daw lahat na nag aaway iyong ang mga gangs pero bakit pumapatay naman sila ng innocent students kahit ang main goal naman is to bring down those crazy school leaders

Not really a fan of this. FR.

I first read MH:SOG and while reading, I was like, is this a ripped off version of that book? Bakit mas marami itong natatanggap na love and praises kaysa sa isang iyon? Are they nuts?

The bida, plot twist, school premises, a serum/vial, the special ingredient, even the principal is almost an exact copy. Para kang nagbabasa ng parallel universe or mirror universe niya. Mapapa-isip ka na lang na baka plagiarism ito, pero iyon nga, maraming gusto itong book to even acknowledge that sa Wattpad.

Ugh. I wish people would realize how messed up this book was. LOL.

Well honestly speaking, this was the book I first finished reading. I had really a good time reading this masterpiece. Reading this was such a pleasure then please to the author don't let them touch or adapt this kind of masterpiece. Let me change the topic, My favorite part is when the fashion show it was one of the best scene in the book for me. I haven't read the second book which is Chasing Hell because I don't have the energy yet but I will try reading it soon. Kudos to a work of art 👏👏

I gave it 2 star because of the book quality and it's really dissapointting about the flow of the story doesnt just feels right

SORRY FOR MY GRAMMAR
