WTH was that? What a totally unsatisfying conclusion to this series. Not at all what I expected or hoped for.

That was a very tense case that Jack and Leo had. The twists and the turns involved had my head reeling.

As for Jack's backstory, I was glad that he was able to find out more about what had happened to his parents. I still have a lot of strong feelings about what was done to Jack in his early childhood, and some of those same feelings are there with how he was treated now. I am so glad that he has Leo in his life. He needs someone that actually cares about him above everything else.

I would definitely like another book in the series to see how Jack and Leo are doing.

Getting answers

Book five gives us more answers and a few more questions. Perhaps it’s a Need to Know kind of thing. High drama in this book. The take away for me...what makes a family, who can you trust and what happens in two years. I got confused at times, perhaps my mind was drifting, so I had to reread a page or two. Few typos in the series, but nothing that took away from the story. Overall, I enjoyed following Jack and shed some tears so it was written well enough to trigger my empathy. 4.0 for pictures.

If you ever want to fall into a book that will put your own life on hold, that when you put it down you know it won't be for long, this series subtitled The Center should be on your Christmas list.

The tightness in my throat as I wrap up Bait and Switch, the 5th and presumably final installment, stems from a range of emotions, not the least of which is gratitude, gratitude for a love story that is interwoven between the adventures of two young undercover operatives, which will stop your heart as well as the clock.

I feel punch-drunk and at the same time hollowed out for all that I have been through with Jack and Leo since picking up You Don't Know Jack, the first in this series of M.C. Lee's novels. But I wouldn't trade our journey for anything else I've read this year.

As sad as I am to see this series end, this was also probably the most disappointing part in the series.

It had its good points. I liked the whole two agencies against eachother and then Jack and Leo trying to figure things out. But the ending felt lacklustre for a final book. It felt like we need more and for Jack to have an actual happy ending.
