First Class Package

Rate this book
A geeky science writer has a crush on his postman—but will he ever make a move?

Working from home suits introvert Jim until he gets a special delivery—an extremely cute, temporary postman called Patrick. Jim’s drawn to his wide smile and sexy legs, while Patrick can’t keep his eyes off Jim’s package.

Their doorstep attraction seems mutual, so asking Patrick out on a date should be easy. There’s just one problem—Jim could fit all the pick-up lines he knows on the back of a postage stamp.

As Christmas approaches, Jim knows the end of Patrick’s postal-delivery contract is looming. Taking a chance might be worth it if it keeps Patrick coming to his door.

I don't hang out on Goodreads much, so if you'd like to connect with me then Twitter, Facebook or an email is usually best :) All my contact details are on my website.

Jay lives just outside Bristol in the West of England. He comes from a family of writers, but always used to believe that the gene for fiction writing had passed him by. He spent years only ever writing emails, articles, or website content.

One day, Jay decided to try and write a short story—just to see if he could—and found it rather addictive. He hasn’t stopped writing since.

Jay writes contemporary romance about men who fall in love with other men. Jay has five books published by Dreamspinner Press, and he also self-publishes under the imprint Jaybird Press. Many of his books are now available as audiobooks.

Jay is transgender and was formerly known as she/her.

Total fantasy, right?

Who doesn't hope their next package would be delivered by a hunky, too-tight shorts-wearing dude? (Words are optional)
Hot yum yum all covered in a brown uniform...

...delivering those packages...ALL..NIGHT...LONG!

Oh, the package innuendos that kept me tittering. *claps hands*

So let's review, shall we?

This is funny, free, and cute. There's Santa jizz splatters but nothing too heavy. A homebody, hermit writer gets the ultimate package delivery in Britain. That's right wooing through package delivery because a certain someone is too shy to make the first move. Cute.

What's the ultimate package delivery, you might wonder?

Umm...I'd rate it 3.5 stars but it's holiday time, so I'll round up. I'm a sucker for introverts getting the guy, what else can I say?

Ho,ho,ho...Jizzmas has been merried!

All I want for Christmas...is a cuddly toy or two.

Work-at-home-science writer Jim moons over his new postman Patrick. Every day, as his spending on Amazon desperately increases, Jim waits to ogle Patrick's hairy legs, yet when it comes to asking out his crush, Jim gets cold feet.

This is an adorbs, uber sweet, low angst story about two guys meeting right before Christmas and finding that Santa sometimes delivers the most unexpected gifts.

The scene in the supermarket pulled on my heartstrings (no one should ever eat a frozen dinner on Christmas!), but the story brings plenty of cheer and humour ("I've got a package for you" takes on a whole new meaning when a cute boy is delivering).

Go and grab this feel-good shortie; it's FREE on Smashwords!

3 Stars - for a cute package and a short freebie

*********************************************

It's is December and soon is it Christmas time

Jim is a quite lonely guy working from home. One day is there a new Postman —a gorgeous 'hot' guy in those navy shorts— delivering a package.
‘He turned and hurried off.
Jim’s gaze dropped back down those bare legs: furry, muscular calves over thick socks and boots. The sight of those did funny things a little further south than Jim’s belly.
He shook his head as though to clear it. He didn’t have time to indulge in dirty fantasies about his postman today. There was work to do.’

Jim stars to feel a need for more, daily, package deliveries. Luckely is it easy to buy and order 'big' things.

Patrick is glad to deliver...
“Cool. It’s nice to see someone buying pink for a boy. That was my favourite colour till I was seven. But then my mates teased me about it so much, I pretended I liked green better instead.” Patrick grinned, then lowered his voice conspiratorially to add, “But secretly—I still like pink.”

**********************************************

I LIKE - yep, it was chuckling sweet

Please download it from All Romance eBooks or Smashwords. Don't pay for it on Amazon once it's there, but do feel free to use the link to tell them about a lower price. I'm hoping they will make it free eventually.

A happy and very sweet novella in typical Jay Northcote style.
It was cute and enjoyable, but just too short to really delve into any character development.

*** 3 cuddly toy stars ***

"Well, you see.... I have this cute postman who deliver's stuff to my house."
--------------------

Cute short story. Didn't think there was a "Holiday/Christmas feel" over it, though. Points for taking place in the UK. *soft spot*

It reminded me of Handle with Care by Josephine Myles I've read a looong time ago. My review is kind of short and lacking since it was one of my first review ever.
Handle with Care was much cuter and has more of a story than First Class Package. It features Ollie (come on, how cute it that (nick)name, huh?) a purple-haired skateboarder slash delivery guy.
Read the blurb and see if it tickles your fancy. You could check that one out instead of this. ;)

3.5 Stars. Cute, sweet and sexy.

Super short read that I gobbled up with a smile on my face. No, we didn’t have deep and complex, angst-ridden characters. What we had was a fun holiday Short sure to brighten up your day!

3.5 Stars - I would love more of these two.

So, apparently Jay Northcote is the queen of the Christmas meet-cute. Because seriously, this was adorable. Jim is shy and awkward, he’s been working from home alone for too long but he knows what he wants when he meets his new delivery man Patrick. He wants Patrick and Patrick’s package he just doesn’t know how to make it happen. At least in a cool, not completely geeky way. So, he goes with his awkward geekiness because it’s really all he knows and by damn if it doesn’t work. That’s the feel good thing I loved about this one, Jim didn’t have to change and Patrick fell for him just as he was. I love that. There was minimal angst and what was there was charming and sweet. These two found one another at just the right time. This is the kind of Jizzmas story you can read all year as the Christmas is on the low and the feels are on the high. This one will be a reread for me and I definitely wouldn’t complain about more from these two.

A sweet gift to her readers from Jay Northcote - free download on ARe.
Will Jim ever get up the nerve to ask out the sexy substitute postman Patrick or will he forever be lonely, wallowing with an ever growing menagerie of new stuffed animals? Based on the flirting, he's pretty sure Patrick is interested, now Jim only needs to make a move and ask. Thanks to Jay Northcote for this fun, sexy read.

I'm dusting out my Kindle right now and there this little feel good story was sitting, paitently waiting for me to start reading.

I wasn't aware of it to be christmas themed. But hey! It's snowing outside so it still works!

See, I have this thing with Jay Northcote's books. I like them! But most of them feel for me as if there is something missing. So you can see what a big surprise it was when this felt complete.

Still I won't be raving about it. It is just a little feel good story I liked but not loved.

Recommended?
Definetly!

Will I reread it?
Maybe - but not likely.

3.5 stars.

What do you do when you're an introvert and have a big crush on your new hot postman with sexy legs?

Why, you go on Amazon and order big cuddly toys with next day delivery so the said hot postman would have to deliver packages as often as possible until you finally gather up the courage to make a move on him. Of course! Duh!

This was another sweet, free short story by Jay Northcote I read and enjoyed. The characters were lovable, and the toys were cuddly, and the postman had a great package, so I've got two words for the story: super & cute!

Ordering random things online in the hopes that the hot postman would come knocking!? Sounds like something I'd do.

This was a cute little read, with a smattering of hotness thrown in towards the end.

What a nice little story! Only too short. Ok, it was well-rounded, got me giggling along with all the deliveries and had a very satisfying ending. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind to read more about these two.

I have one BIG problem with this: it was too short! 😭
I wanted more! 😭

I don’t typically add novellas to my favorites but this one had me smiling the whole time and got me out of a weird slump so it’s deserving of the shelf.

I loved Jim and Patrick and although this is told strictly from Jim’s POV it was easy to tell that Patrick was just as smitten by the end of this. I do wish that we got to see them go donate the stuffed animals at the hospital and I would’ve loved to see how they progressed to being boyfriends but that’s because I love them and wanted more of them which is probably evident by how often I’m repeating myself with wishing there was more 😭

Super short.
Super cute 🥺
Simplistic which is typical of this author but it makes sense in a short format. And HFN instead of HEA which also makes sense due to the length. ~

Jim is a writer who works from home. One day a new cute postman (Patrick) arrives at his door to deliver a package. Jim really likes the new cute guy. He has a crush on him. Jim tries many times to approach the postman differently but his shy nature prevents him from doing so successfully. Because he likes the guy a lot, Jim orders more items online hoping to see Patrick more so he could invite him inside for a cup of coffee one day.

The story is light and cute. There is no tension buildup as it is a light romantic story and I guess tension is not required to be created with such a theme. The two main characters are likable but at times I was frustrated because Jim wanted Patrick so bad but was chickening out every time the postman appeared at his door. Of course, that is just me saying this but I appreciate the author keeping Jim’s introvert personality true to the story. I loved the amount of teasing between the two be it in their dialogue or their appearance. In terms of sex scenes, there is only one oral sex scene and everything else is just implied. The happy ending was very suitable to the theme of the book. If you like something that is cute and light-hearted then this one will be a good read.
