The medium host of Lisa Life Among the Dead describes how her childhood in England was marked by her clairvoyant abilities, shares behind-the-scenes facts about her popular show, and describes her work as an investigator of haunted houses and other psychic phenomena. 35,000 first printing.
Many of us have questions about the passage of life and often wonder what happens when we die. In the amazingly insightful books by medium/clairvoyant Lisa Williams, evidence of the afterlife is explored. Through various channels such as meditation, psychic readings, communication with her Spirit Guide, and a personal near-death experience, Lisa delves into the journey of the soul, discusses the different stages of the afterlife, and reveals what life is really like on the other side.
Her books address the myriad questions many of us have surrounding this subject, especially if we’ve gone through the painful experience of having lost loved ones. Lisa provides a reassuring glimpse into this fascinating topic by exploring the pathway to the afterlife and then to reincarnation; with the realization that death is not final, but rather a transition into the world beyond—a place that should be honored, not feared.
What I want to remember from this book is found on page 200... "Nan had taught me not to pay attention to the past, since it was unchangeable, and it seemed like a good, all-around life lesson. Some of us hold on to the past with a ferocity that defies logic. The fact is, the past only serves to drag us down. Today is what matters. To be present. To be in the moment."
Okay so this isn't tough literature. I read this book over the period of 2 nights before I went to sleep. I think Lisa Williams is cute on TV, and I enjoyed this book because I could picture her saying everything that was written. It is interesting because she is interesting (to me at least). It's simple and unpretentious, and makes a good light read.
Lisa Williams is a beautiful, engaging and entertaining human being. I had an extraordinary reading by her. Here are the details: I had been to two of psychic John Edward's events. At both events, some of the very same information came through about my daughter's deceased father. However, I did not connect with the information quickly enough so that it was validated thoroughly. I always felt that I needed to acknowledge Rick's messages, and it was finally through Lisa, that I was able to do that. Information 1. The first piece of information that came through which was significant, at both John Edward's events and Lisa's, was that a male had died under questionable circumstances, of a gunshot wound to the head. The crime was perpetrated in an execution, or "military" type of shooting.
Though originally listed as a homicide, the Chicago Police Dept. refused to respond to my FOI (Freedom of Information Act Inquiry) and provide the homicide file. Instead, because they never solved the case, they relegated the matter as a "suicide."
I wrote a book for my daughter, who was just 18 months old when he died (Russell Square Park).
2. The next information, which was critical, and, again, came through at the other events and now yours, was that he had a severe limp, pain in his head and jaw. But once I acknowledged that, even more information came through:
3. He was saying that he didn't run fast enough, and that very well was him trying to run from the el train that ran over him at the age of 16 (prior to his death, which was the cause of the physical pain that he lived with). He was not expected to live. His girlfriend at the time was killed. As a result of the accident, he had a metal plate in his head and in his leg, causing the limp. His jaw was also a near-constant source of pain for him.
4. He suffered from depression, and at the time, little was known of depression. But from what I know now, he did indeed suffer from depression.
5. Many other details, such as how well I knew him, how close we were, etc., were all exactly on point. His proclamation of "I did it my way," was exactly the sort of thing that he would say.
6. My mother also came through, who had died of cancer. She sent a birthday message to me - and Lisa recited my exact birthday! We were very close. I was the eldest of 5 and regularly cared for my siblings. When she sent the message through you that I should not feel guilty about not being around at the very end of her life, it was exactly what I'd always felt sorry about. But she validated how I tried to help her as the oldest, not to be a burden on her, but an asset. It was comforting to hear her message, and just the sort of thing that she would say. She was an amazing woman, way ahead of her time, and just 49 years old.
7. My stepfather was the "strong, silent type" that came through. It would be just like him to say that he was the awful one, and my mother was the good one. He had a lot of good qualities, but their relationship became very strained through the years, as she outgrew him, despite the fact that he was many years her senior. She had embraced spirituality, which he did not understand, and seemed to have no interest in.
It is very comforting to know that Rick did not commit suicide. I knew that he would come through and clarify that, especially since it has been on my mind for so long.
When I was researching the book I was writing for my daughter, it was heartbreaking to include that information - the possibility that he may have taken his own life.
Watch for Lisa with a new television, which we understand is in development.
She is very hands-on - so if you have the opportunity to go to one of her events, it is highly recommended. Here is a book that I wrote on the father of my daughter, who "showed up" at the gallery reading:
I read this book in anticipation of seeing Lisa Williams show in November. I hadn't heard of her before seeing her name on the list for a local venue. For me, much of the book dragged, but there were some highlights. As another reviewer wrote, one of the best reminders was to "leave the past in the past." I found it interesting how many different occupations she tried before becoming a full-time medium. The book itself seemed choppy and jumped around more than flowing. I enjoyed reading about the progression in Ms. Williams life and her examples of helping people. Because it wasn't hard to read and I enjoyed the content, I gave it 3 stars. However, I'm hoping that seeing her in person will be more rewarding than reading the book. Update: seeing her in person was a disappointment because her performance seemed more staged than truly psychic.
Another slim book which may be of interest, from a more spiritual/cosmic consciousness point of enlightenment is:
‘Beautiful Road Home’ by White Eagle, 978-0-85487-088-2
“Do not be disappointed. Do not be dragged down by the mind of earth, by that dense, dark matter in the mind. when you are ready, when you can be trusted, your master will come close to you, and you will be instructed on the inner planes how to go inward and find the true spirit, the light of humanity, the light of the world . . . . Then the soul has complete control of matter and is so spiritually evolved that it only wants to use its power to love, to help, to heal, to lighten the darkness of all its brothers and sisters on earth and in all the confines of dark matter.” pp76-77
Loved this book! I watched her show on lifetime and loved it! My mom and I went to hear her speak and we got to meet her. She is a lovely lady and very "real". I can't wait for her to write another book.
I am a big Lisa Williams fan. I used to watch her show on Lifetime every week. Having seen her in person (and got my copy signed!) I know she is the real deal. If you are looking for proof that there is life after death, please read this.
I loved this so much! Lisa's gift isn't something all of us can relate to, but like any person, she struggled a little to get where she is. I loved reading about her sometimes-rocky past, and watching her as she found herself and honed her skills. I definitely recommend this.
I saw Lisa Williams in person at a group event. She is the real deal, connecting with my family in an eerily accurate conversation with 2 family members, one old and one tragically young when they passed. I am open to this, and I believe that the dead are never truly gone, but if I was a skeptic, after Lisa’s presentation I would change that quickly. She is a truly beautiful soul who wants to use her gift to offer solace and peace to the ones left behind. This book was amazing, I really did read it in one sitting. It is insightful, colorful, and believable. Lisa let’s us in to her life, filled with isolation, fear, love, and loss. She walks through her early years of fear, right up to her absolute conviction of herself, after she accepts her gift. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I would definitely go back to see Lisa if she came to my area. Enjoy the book🌼
I found Lisa's story interesting, funny at times, and very engaging. Once I began to really read it, I couldn't put it down. She has had quite a life, both challenging, and amazing at times. She's an interesting person. If you like quirky people, a touch of the fantastic, and ghost stories; you would enjoy this book.
Interesting book, even if you are generally into that type of thing. It certainly got me thinking and I enjoyed the way the author wove her life experiences into her growing knowledge that she was psychic. Worth a look even if you aren't a believer!
So glad Lisa wrote about her life in the early years. I’ve been a Lisa Williams groupie for about 15 years and finally read this book. So happy Lisa listened to her Nan and shared her gift to the world and helps us discover our own gifts.
Lisa Williams is a medium, psychic and clairvoyant and when I came across her TV show 'Life Among the Dead' on Foxtel I was hooked. I was instantly drawn to her warm personality and watched every episode I could, as she met with people and passed on messages from loved ones who had passed away.
I was so excited when I learned she was touring Australia however her tour sold out before I could get tickets. The next time she toured the country I bought tickets straight away and went with a friend to see her 'show' at Hamer Hall. Now, I'm a true believer in her gift and was touched by her ability to accurately communicate messages, names, places and other information that she couldn't otherwise have known.
When I learned Lisa had written a book, I just had to read it. This is an autobiography of sorts, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've read several books by mediums and others have contained explanations of their gift, views on the afterlife and examples of readings that have stayed with them or touched them in some way.
This book is essentially Lisa's life story from childhood to the astonishing success of her hit TV show in LA. It contains a lot of details of her social life that readers looking for the meaning of life will find dull and uninteresting. I didn't, and that's because I really like her and didn't mind reading about her personal life, her love life, her battle with cancer and her journey as a psychic.
Although I've got to say I struggled with how long it took for her to recognise her gift and start to have faith - pardon the pun - in her ability to help people and begin to develop her gift into a full-time occupation. She has now achieved this end and has changed many lives around the world with her abilities and her love and warm character.
Fans of the show will enjoy this book, it was a nice easy read.
Lisa Williams, star of the Lifetime television series "Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead" finally came out with a memoir about her life before and at the start of her television career as a medium and clairvoyant.
What I found the most interesting about her book was her childhood and growing up psychic, especially under the eyes of her medium grandmother. She's mentioned before in interviews that still being shocked at the information she's getting has kept her humble, and I really connect with that.
An enjoyable book. Hopefully, she will come out with one about developing mediumistic abilities.
She's also very nice in person (met her last night). She's the real deal.
I freely admit that I am a huge fan of Lisa Williams's show on Lifetime. As Apple Jacks fans "eat what they like" I like what I like. My praise of Lisa does not, however, extend to this book. The poor woman is not a natural writer. The book was choppy, sloppy, verbose, random, and strayed from topic. The editor didn't do their job and should have been fired. It read very much as:
"...and then the spirit came through the wall. Then it was dinner. Then my mum was concerned. Then they thought I was lying. Then I tried to make the spirits go away. I was a child and I was confused. Then I..."
I read this when I became convinced that Ted can see a ghost in his room. It is an interesting read. I think a month ago in my more skeptical days I might have said the book is ridiculous. The thing is, many of her stories are very specific and would seem to mean she can talk to dead people (the future-telling aspect is much less convincing and there are only a few vague instances of it). Either she is a blatant liar and fabricated an entire life history, or there is something to this spirit world. I also watched her TV show and there is some pretty eerie stuff there as well. Writing and storytelling in this book is terrible though.
I'm a big fan of Lisa Williams. I loved her TV show so I was really looking forward to reading this book. What I was seeking from this book I did not find. This book is an autobiography. I wanted answers to the meaning of life. What is God? Is there a heaven? What happens when we die? Why am I here? Weirdly, I ended up having more respect for her though because she did not come off as someone who knew all the answers in life. It seemed a lot more honest than most books I read about spirituality.
An easy-and-fast-read biography about Lisa Williams. I've heard she didn't write it but had a ghost writer. Perhaps this could explain some of the repetitions in the book, escpecially in the narration.
She also mentions some good books a few times, it would have been nice to have them listed at the end of the book instead of having them all through it.
However, it is a to-read book for any huge Lisa Williams fan.
As a big fan of Sylvia Browne, it was nice to read something from another psychic that I enjoyed watching on television a few years ago. It's interesting to see how different psychics and mediums deal with the manifestations of their gifts. It's something that will always pique my interest and be something I admire. I had seen Lisa do live reading a couple of years ago, so it was nice to get to know her through this book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It gave me some great insight into the paranormal world. Lisa's life has been really amazing. One thing I didn't like was how it ended. She got the show on Lifetime and there are like 2 pages and the book just ends. It felt like there was so much explanation about the rest of her life but not nearly enough about her current life.
I have an interest in psychics and paranormal things. I enjoyed watching Lisa's show when it was on Lifetime, so I bought the book. It wasn't very well written, but it was an easy read and I enjoyed learning about her life growing up with psychic abilities. I was very disappointed with the ending though... she talked very briefly about doing the show and then it just ended.
I don't usually read autobiographies, but Lisa fascinates me when I see her on Lifetime and her website is so interesting (www.lisawilliamsmedium.com). It was interesting to read about how she recognized her gift, denied it at first & then ultimately embraced it all while living what I consider a "normal" life. Check it out - you'll be amazed!
