Pei-mei is an oriental culinary general. She wrote this with the intention of it being written in both english and Chinese on either side of the pages to signify her hope that western America would someday cherish their culinary traditions. Simple, classic Chinese faire, written by the Taiwanese Julia Child: Fu Pei-mei. I love a recipe book with good pictures, and this one has plenty. Plus, all of the recipes are written in both Chinese and English.

Used to have this years ago, waiting for a new copy in the mail. Simple recipes which never fail, and this time I'm going to try experimenting a little with some ingredients I couldn't get before - doubanjiang, etc.

Absolutely should be required in a Taiwanese-American's kitchen.
