It is our pleasure, our honor, our duty as citizens to present to you Duck for President. Here is a duck who began in a humble pond. Who worked his way to farmer. To governor. And now, perhaps, to the highest office in the land.
Some say, if he walks like a duck and talks like a duck, he is a duck.
We say, if he walks like a duck and talks like a duck, he will be the next president of the United States of America.

Behold Folks!
The almighty duck is coming for the presidential elections. The voters will have a chance to the raise their voices. There will be a grand procession. The duck will do the campaigns, conduct town meetings. The duck will win by a nose.
You're dealing with quite an ambitious duck here. Time to write an autobiography!
Oh yes, the duck will give a speech in a language that only other ducks can understand!

At first I found this delightfully humorous tale an allegory for the GW Bush administration, then I realized it's just as abdicable to tRump's administration. Frighteningly prophetic.

I adored this book! It's the story of a duck who lives on a farm and is unhappy with the chores that he has to do daily. He decides that if he were the head farmer, life would be much better. Eventually, he decides to hold "elections" to try and replace the Farmer. He campaigns and wins, but after a few days of hard work, running the farm, he decides that this job is not nearly as fun as he had anticipated. He moves on to run for governor and eventually president. By holding elections, running his campaigns, and giving speeches to the ducks who were the only ones who could understand his speeches, he "wins" the favor of the voters and eventually becomes president of the United States. Nonetheless, the job is not nearly as glamourous as he expected. One day, while reading the "help wanted" ads in the paper, he comes across an advertisement, asking for a duck who can perform the daily chores that he once did. Deciding that this is the job for him, he leaves the Vice President in charge, and answers the ad, which we later find out was posted by the Farmer. Duck goes back to his original and lives happily with his daily chores. Such a great and witty read. i would definitely recommend it!

In this third humorous picture-book featuring the independent-minded animals on Farmer Brown's farm, Duck decides that he should be in charge, setting up an election that sees him rise to power. Soon deciding that running a farm is no fun, he next sets his sights on the governor's office, only to discover that running the state is also hard work. His solution? Run for President, of course! Needless to say, running a country is even harder work, and soon Duck is once again looking for something new...
I enjoyed Duck for President, which pairs an entertaining tale from author Doreen Cronin with appealing watercolor artwork from illustrator Betsy Lewin. Although it wasn't quite as giggle-inducing as the previous two books in the series, Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type and Giggle, Giggle, Quack , it will still have great appeal to anyone who enjoyed those books, and wants to see what Duck gets up to next. As Farmer Brown has been known to say, you have to keep your eye on that fowl!

July 15, 2014Sometimes you should be grateful for the job you have. Duck learns this the hard way in this story. This book can be introduced to students to teach them to be grateful as well as different elected official positions and how the process works.

Humorous picture book whose uncanny relevance today makes it even funnier. Themes include the grass is always greener on the other side and the work of others is often more difficult than we can see from the outside. Very effective use of repetitive text.

This is a children’s picture book about a duck who doesn’t like how things are done at his farm and so decides to campaign to become the farmer of the farm. He eventually works his way up to the level of president because he doesn’t like the work involved in the previous level of government.

Such an astute commentary on the American political system, complete with inventing a democracy, falling up and leaving incompetency behind you. Also includes a Bill Clinton Easter egg! Oh, and it is an entertaining story for the younger audience.

This lighthearted fantasy story is adorable. The story begins with the setting of the farm. The protagonist, a duck, decides that he wants to be in charge. He has an election and runs the farm. When he decides his new job is not any better, he runs for the next step up. He continues down this path until he runs the country as the President. Eventually, he wants to go back to the farm. This picture book by Doreen Cronin is a fantastic tale to share with kids and the illustrations by Caldecott Award honoree Betsy Lewin help tell it so well.

Did Duck become president?
This short story picture book is a very cute and fun way to show the different types of government and the different ways to gather votes. Not only does it give a glimpse of the process of the elections, but it also shows the hard work and dedication that it takes to fill those shoes. As Duck explains, it is not fun. The illustrations did a great job of giving a better understanding of the story. The use of watercolor really made the illustrations stand out in a telling way. The title page is illustrated very well. It does not give out too many clues as to what the story will be about. This book would be great for fluent readers who are just getting to know the idea of governments and elections.

Are you looking for a good picture book for interactive read aloud, This book is a good book. The author Doreen Cronin does a great job telling a story. Duck For a President is a fiction book, and the setting is in a barn. The theme of the book is teaching children that being a leader takes hard work and responsibility. Betsy Lewin does a great job with the illustrations and the illustrations follow along with the theme. This book would be great to have in a classroom.

December 5, 2014This book is very hilarious, when a duck runs for president. Yet this book is very informative for you little ones it shows all about how you can get elected for president. This book is a great realistic fiction read, and is super cute. It really gets the children thinking and imagining if this could really happen. Lots of smiles when reading this quick read picture book. Super cute read and I would recommend around elections.
I think the pictures were very basic they weren't anything too special there are a lot of sketches and they also have the same colors consistently through out the whole story. I did enjoy reading this book, it makes learning about election some what hysterical. I think that lots of children would like to read this in order to learn about how the elections work.
I would recommend for elementary schools.

اولین تصویر کتاب خیلی شبیه پوستر تبلیغاتی ریچارد نیکسون بود. بعد اردک به جای اینکه بگه چه برنامه ای برای آینده داره و هدفش چیه شعارش رو «مزرعه مهربان ، مزرعه آرام» میزاره که منو یاد جورج دبلیو بوش انداخت.
موقع سخنرانی هم فقط طرفدارانش که همه اردک بودن فقط حرفشو میفهمیدن.
مهمتر از همه تکرار شمارش آرا بود که هر دفعه چندتا دونه یه جاهای مختلف چسبیده بود و نشون میداد که حتی یک رای هم اثر داره و مهمه.
در کنارش هم تصاویر شنگ و بامزه کتاب خودش رو همراه دیالوگ به حرکت در می آورد.

This is about a Duck that lives on a farm and has chores to do everyday. He is tired of this and decided to run for president of the farm. He is not satisfied with this and runs for governor. He eventually runs for President of the United States and wins. He is never happy with where he is and eventually goes back to the farm. This is a good book to read during the election period. It is also good to talk about appreciating what you have and where you are.
