Not her best book. The hero is a cop, who lives for the job and has two ex-wives as we learn later. He goes to a crime scene where he meets the heroine who says she doesn't remember what happened, he doesn't believe her and is kind of hard on her, even questions her relationship with the old man when she is clear that they were friends and he helped her.

The heroine has had a tough going in life, now she's in law school, working at a good firm, then her best friend dies, she is out of a job and a suspect. She can't remember what happened and she knows it is going to happen again, her poor background will make her a victim.

I didn't like the hero much at first, he pushed her too much but he did come to believe in her innocence even though she did have a lot of secrets.
And her secrets are painful, her brother went to jail because of her, he was innocent but a cop took advantage of her, humiliated her and violated her and her rights.

There is a frame up going on as far as she is concerned and he is caught in the web and suspended for sexual mis-conduct but he still helps her.

All in all I found the book okay, not great actually.

Set against the backdrop of New Orleans, the mood for a gritty and crime-infested novel took form. Linda Castillo has long been a top favorite suspense author for me. She never fails to bring out the big guns and create fascinating and realistic characters while balancing a perfect blend of romance and suspense. This story was no disappointment. A tough detective with a hard past finds his prime suspect is far more than meets the eye. There's really no big revelation or newness to the plotline but somehow/someway Linda Castillo makes it feel like new. I can't seem to help myself - I just enjoy anything and everything she writes.

Although this is an older Silhouette Intimate Moments release (I think this is actually her debut as a romantic suspense author), Ms. Castillo's trademark is still very apparent. She has continued through the years to hone her skills and her current releases highlight her talents and expertise as a writer. I love the way her words flow and ebb at just the precise times and places.

A romantic, suspenseful mystery is perfect for a cold, rainy afternoon like today. This kind of mystery is fun to read, even if you are able to guess some of the surprises along the way. You still want to cheer for the two main characters and swing between suspense, joy, nailbiting terror, and anger on their behalf.

Remember The Night by Linda Castillo is a romantic suspense. Ms. Castillo has given us a book that is well-written and loaded with amazing characters. Michelle and Philip's story is packed with action, drama, suspense, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading Remember The Night and look forward to reading more from Linda Castillo in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I read a print copy of this book.

I wanted to like this book a lot, because I liked the most recent suspense novel by the same author, but sadly it was just mediocre. I am going to look for more by her, though, because I think this was her first one, so they must get better somewhere along the way. :)
