Martha Helen Stewart is an American retail businesswoman, writer, and television personality. As the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, focusing on home and hospitality, she gained success through a variety of business ventures, encompassing publishing, broadcasting, merchandising and e-commerce. She has written numerous bestselling books, was the publisher of Martha Stewart Living magazine and hosted two syndicated television programs: Martha Stewart Living, which ran from 1993 to 2004, and The Martha Stewart Show, which ran from 2005 to 2012.
In 2004, Stewart was convicted of felony charges related to the ImClone stock trading case; she served five months in federal prison for fraud and was released in March 2005. There was speculation that the incident would effectively end her media empire, but in 2005 Stewart began a comeback campaign and her company returned to profitability in 2006. Stewart rejoined the board of directors of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in 2011 and became chairwoman of her namesake company again in 2012. The company was acquired by Sequential Brands in 2015. Sequential Brands Group agreed in April 2019 to sell Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, including the Emeril brand, to Marquee Brands for $175 million with benchmarked additional payments.

Sample Recipe from Everyday Food: Fresh Flavor Fast

Serves 4
Prep time: 15 minutes
Total time: 15 minutes

Pesto made with parsley and sharp Pecorino Romano cheese (and without nuts) makes a colorful topping for tender lamb chops. It could also be tossed with pasta, spread on sandwiches, or mixed with cream cheese for a dip to serve with crudités.

Lamb Chops
8 lamb loin chops (each 4 ounces and 1 inch thick)
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup Parsley Pesto (recipe below)

Heat a large skillet over medium. Pat dry lamb with paper towels. Season chops on both sides with salt and pepper. Cook (in two batches, if necessary) 4 to 6 minutes per side for medium-rare. Serve immediately, topped with pesto.

Parsley Pesto
Makes 1/2 cup
2 cups packed fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
3/4 cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese (2 ounces)
1 small garlic clove, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for storing (optional)
Freshly ground pepper

In a food processor, finely chop parsley, cheese, and garlic. With the motor running, add oil in a slow, steady stream; season with pepper. Serve immediately, or transfer to an airtight container and cover with a thin layer of oil; refrigerate up to 4 days or freeze up to 3 months.

Freezing Pesto
Pesto keeps very well in the freezer, so it’s worth making extra. Freeze it in small airtight containers, covered with a thin layer of olive oil. Defrost in the refrigerator before using.

The layout is the same as the Everyday Food magazines: nice and simple. The pages are bright and colorful with mouthwatering photos for every single recipe, which I think should be standard for any cookbook.

All the recipes are broken down into categories such as breakfast, appetizers, soups, main course, desserts, etc. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well. There is even a section for veggies according to season.

This is a fantastic cookbook for everyday meals. The ingredient lists are short and the recipes aren't too complicated for busy weekdays. Not only are these quick and yummy recipes, most of the recipes are relatively healthy too.

I do like these recipes, but I do NOT like this format compared to the first Everyday Food cookbook. In her intro, Martha says "Where Great Food Fast was organized by season, here the recipes are grouped according to course, since that's the way we plan meals regardless of season". I don't know who this "we" is, Martha, because "I" certainly like to plan by season-- preferring to purchase produce when in season (for both taste and economic reasons) and use of various cooking methods (I will not be grilling in December, I don't want gazpacho in February, and I do not enjoy heating up the whole kitchen with the oven in July for a roast). So, I'm knocking this down a star for this huge mis-step.

One change/addition I did love, however, is the "cook once and use the extra as an ingredient for these following recipes" sections. This is a fantastic feature for busy home cooks like me. If I'm roasting chicken, then let's roast extra and use the leftover shredded for tomorrow's meal too. Allows me to use cheaper whole cuts of protein as well as subtract time from tomorrow's kitchen time. I really liked this and wish there were more of these groupings throughout the book.

I also really liked that we had some breakfast and lunch options in this book. My family enjoyed the banana oat smoothies and the egg in a hole from this section and I'm sure we'll try other recipes in the future.

Despite my sadness over the loss of seasonal organization, this is still a solid addition to my cookbook collection, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I will try probably just about everything sans tree nuts (anaphylaxis) and mushrooms (disgusting) in here at some point, but for this review's purpose we tried:
Banana Oat Smoothies
Egg in a Hole
Hot Spinach Dip (good, but I prefer a different recipe that includes parmesan and artichoke hearts)
Mini Turkey Meatloaves (we liked this concept and enjoyed the meal, but all agreed we'd prefer beef to turkey)
Roast Beef w/ Peppers and Onions
("stretch it" meal using leftover roast beef) Open Face Roast Beef Sandwiches

A fantastic cookbook full of useful information and beautifully photographed recipes. It’s organized by season - to help keep it fresh - and within each seasonal section there are a number of subsections for starters, entrees, sides, desserts, etc. The final section includes tip and tricks on mastering the basics of cooking. It does include nutritional information for each recipe, compiled in an appendix in the back. My favorite thing about this book is the number of vegetarian friendly recipes it contains. As someone who’s constantly wavering on the vegetarian line, that’s greatly appreciated. Our absolute favorite is the hot and sour soup (we sub out veggie broth). It’s SO GOOD. Definitely worth a look, if not a purchase.

Most of the 250 recipes here are beyond (far beyond) my skills and include ingredients not readily available in my little "fly-over-zone" community.
However, I am going to give thirteen of them a try.

Mexican Ice Cream Sundaes with Cinnamon-Chocolate Sauce
Chocolate Mousse
Mexican Wedding Cakes
Fudgy Brownies
Coconut Macaroons
Boston Baked Beans
Cucumber and Watermelon Salad
Lemon and Pine-nut Rice
Ligther Chicken Pot Pie (using phyllo instead of pie crust)
Pasta with Sausage, Swiss Chard, and Pine Nuts
Whole-Wheat Pasta with Kale and Fontina
Spinach Linguine with Creamy Walnut Sauce
BLT Salad with Buttermilk Dressing

These are from EVERYDAY FOOD, so I'm sure these can all be easily found with a GOOGLE search.

Really a 4.5. I like this book. Wish I had it when my child was younger and we cooked every night. Each recipe has a photograph of the end result. The ingredients lists are short, and the ingredients are fresh and carried by most grocery stores. I especially like the Sides chapter as I tend to make the same side dishes over and over. It would be a nice resource for those stuck times.

I would recommend this book for cooks who want something fresh and fast for their families. I also recommend it for new cooks who are just learning and experimenting as they could have success with these recipes. I am considering adding to my bookself, too!

Ok.. so I am addicted to these cookbooks! I got motivated to buy this-
even at full price- because this past weekend (while at the farmers market) a Martha Stewart van pulled up and started giving out free samples of products endorsed by her as well as copies of Everyday Food mag (which I LOVE!).So I went to B & N and got a copy of the second volume and I LOVE it! The best feature of this book- meals that take 10 minutes to prep and actually taste GREAT!

While I find MS completely ANNOYING.... I have to give it to her.... her cookbooks are AMAZING!!!!!

I would highly recommend this cookbook. I knew it had to be good when I found the highly soiled copy at my local library. After reviewing it while using the restroom, I checked it out and it did not disappoint. The full color pictures that accompany the recipes are a nice check to make sure that one doesn't completely bungle the dish. The cilantro chicken recipe on the cover and a pot pie recipe using bone in chicken are the highlights.

The hits just keep on coming....I really can't say enough about the awesome recipes in this series. I have every issue of the magazine since they started publishing it 4 or 5 years ago and I enjoy the books just as much.
Great cookbooks to use as gifts for high school graduates going off to college or newlyweds.

3.5 stars.
Not as good as Everyday Food: Great Food Fast, but still a go-to when you want uncomplicated but good (not great) food. Every recipe has a photo and simple ingredient list. Cauliflower gratin doesn't disappoint, esp. if you use wholefoods onion focaccia for breadcrumbs (not a splurge if you don't buy bread by the loaf but still want fresh breadcrumbs).

Gorgeous pictures and a fairly large proportion of recipes I might ACTUALLY make so, in my opinion, a winner (especially for Martha Stewart, whose recipes I usually admire but flip past due to excessive length or effort required).

I love this cook book. I have been using it all summer at the library and I just signed it out here in Toledo. The recipes are fairly simple, but delicious. I especially am enjoying the stir fries.

The potstickers and Tex-Mex turkey chili were big hits in my house - the cornbread spoon bread and kale recipes not so much!
