Kitchen Princess starts out fun and mostly fluffy, like volume one. The love parallelogram between Najika, Daichi, Sora, and Akane is still developing, and Akane is still the mean girl. But then the story veers into much more serious territory, introducing an eating disorder storyline. What surprised me is that it actually isn't that badly done. Najika's help (making food that the girl with ED is emotionally attached to so she'll eat something) may not be helpful in a realistic sense, but it is heartfelt, and it follows the theme of the book, that food can be an expression of love.

A great continuation of the manga. I liked how the manga-ka portrayed anorexia, and how it affects people and the ones they love. I also really enjoyed how this volume ended. I can't wait to get the third volume from the library to continue with this series.

I don't understand why Akane is so mean to Najika. Najika has been nothing but nice to Akane. She even tries to help Akane when Akane decides to go on this extreme diet by making Akane's grandmother's pie. Najika is a good friend.

LEL. Suka banget sama chapter extra di volume kedua yang ini; keliatan banget mereka care sama Najika, sampai bikinin Najika minuman Rainbow Soda :> Kitagawa bersaudara emang udah paling klop soal Najika hehehehehe.

Disini, Najika menyadari kemampuan yang dia miliki berkat bantuan Sora (hebat ya kalo emang bener ada orang yang bisa menguraikan bahan makanan dengan sekali coba) Najika juga ditantang untuk membuktikan kemampuannya dihadapan temen-temennya yang ga terima dia dimasukkan di kelas khusus. Ia ditantang membuat cake, melawan pattisier terkenal.

Btw, di sini kelihatan banget kalo Daichi diam-diam menyimpan kagum sama Najika. Dan Daichi juga kelihatan tsundere banget di mataku (ya ga, sih? wkwkwkwk) Cute banget :3 Yang pas dia ngajakin makan sushi ke Najika tuuuh, hehehehehehe. Suka banget sama adegan itu.

Hampir di pertengahan volume ini, fokus cerita dialihkan dulu ke tokoh antagonis kita; Akane. Dia ingin jadi model terkenal, sampai-sampai melakukan diet ketat; membuat Najika, Sora, dan Daichi khawatir sama Akane. Najika tidak bisa membiarkan Akane seperti itu, jadi dia berusaha membuat sesuatu yang bisa membuat Akane semangat untuk makan kembali. Di sini, aku juga diperkenalkan dengan istilah "anorexia" untuk pertama kalinya ^^ Such a good manga!

p.s : seperti buku sebelumnya, ada resep-resep lain yang dicantumkan di sini. Aku tertarik untuk mencoba yogurt mousse dan rice cake. Sepertinya lezat!

This volume dealt with an eating disorder which may be triggering for some.

However, I think it was handled well consider it’s a cute manga. Maybe it’s solved a bit easily but it’s nice to see serious topics acknowledged in a cute shoujo manga about food.

Kresba vypadala moc hezky. Akorát je trochu zastaralá na dobu, v níž byla vydána. Především musím ocenit vzhled a originalitu kulinářských výtvorů. Vždy musím obdivovat autory, kteří s něčím takovým přicházejí. Je zřejmé, že autorka je sama kuchařkou, protože na konci každého volumka byly recepty, které se v něm objevily. Což je super, jelikož vám to dodá chuť se o něco pokusit. Nebo aspoň já jsem měla tento pocit.

Děj byl v některých věcech dost předvídatelný, zejména když se jednalo o to, s kým skončí, což mi bylo jasné už od první kapitoly. Na druhou stranu mi to pomohlo si uvědomit jednu věc, která funguje v opravdu hodně shojo mangách, jenž mají milostný trojúhelník o tomto výběru. Hlavní hrdinka se začátku vždy zamiluje do bloďatého (nebo někoho, kdo nemá ty vlasy vybarvené) a poté si díky několika událostem uvědomí, že miluje tmavovlasého, se kterým nakonec skončí. Vyskytuje se to například v Kirari, Skip Beat! a mnoha dalších.

Některé věci mě opravdu překvapily. Jednou z nich je velice zajímavé řešení milostného trojúhelníku, které mi udělilo docela velký šok, jelikož jsem si myslela, že se to ještě vyřeší. Sora, ten světlovlasý, zemři kvůli zraněním způsobeným při dopravní nehodě. Sice asi tak jednu kapitolu proleží v nemocnici a vy si myslíte, že se z toho vyléčí, tak ne. Nevyléčí se z toho a prostě si umře. A ne, rozhodně to není nějaké falešné úmrtí, neboť má i vlastní pohřeb.

Objevovaly se zde i nějaké dost temné a na psychiku náročné události, které jsem rozhodně zrovna v tomto díle neočekávala, jelikož všechno bylo tak hrozně slaďoučký. Takže za toto překvapení má u mě příběh plus. Na druhou stranu se mi některé situace zdály trochu násilně vecpané, takže za to dávám malé mínus.

Dost mě i překvapil věk Najiky vzhledem k tomu, co všechno prožila, a k jejím milostným problémům. Podle mě by jí mělo býti minimálně patnáct, neboť v tomto věku už jste více mentálně vyspělejší, a tak by její trable dávaly větší smysl. Sice jsou to jen dva roky rozdíl, ale v tomto případě to udělá dost.

Nechápu, proč se všude musí objevovat nějací zlí dospělí, kteří nesnášejí hlavní hrdinku. Pak to stejně většinou dopadne tak, že jim hlavní hrdinka otevře oči a inspiruje je. A ta dá! Jsou z nich najednou hrozně milé osoby. Tohle mi v příbězích trochu vadí.

Také nechápu, proč musí vždy dívky šikanovat hlavní hrdinku kvůli tomu, že se baví s kluky. Tak za nimi mají taky jít a začít si s nimi bavit. Tohle mě vždycky dokáže tak znechutit. Pak se ale většinou stane, že se jejich názor otočí o 180 stupňů, protože zjistí, že Najika je ve skutečnosti hrozně skvělá. Tohle mi přijde vždycky nepřirozené. Mnohem raději bych viděla postupný vývoj a ne něco, co se stane zčistajasna.

S koncem jsem spokojená. Příběh sice skončil předvídatelně, na druhou stranu je poslední stránka sladká a nevinná. Také jsem spokojená s tím, jak se to ve vyřešilo a s tím, jak skončila ta prestižní soutěž.

Prvních pět obálek se mi zas tak tolik nelíbí. Jsou o dost obyčejnější než následujících pět, které se mi líbí velice, jelikož mi přijdou více osobitější.

Kitchen Princess was the first manga I had read back in high school. It was this manga that sparked my interest in baking. I wanted to be like the protagonist (Najika), sharing love with others through baking.

The protagonist, Najika, reminded me much of myself. Despite all the bad experiences I have gone through in my life, I don't want to hate those who have done me wrong before. No matter how much I wanted to give up, time and time again, there were always good people along the way that helped me to get back up.

I can still remember the first thing I tried to bake was a mug cake with oreo frosting on top. I gave it as a gift to my Scouting family, as they were really some of the important people in my life. They have helped in a lot of ways, encouraging me when I am in doubt or being looked down on by others, treating me like a friend/family, and more. And that is why I wanted to be like Najika...sharing love with others through baking. Seeing their smile just warms my heart very much!

A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple.

Questa recensione vale per l'intera serie e non solo per questo volume.

Il primo volume è super cute, con la protagonista che mi ricorda Lucia delle Mermaid Melody ma versione pasticcera. I due ML sono cute e ovviamente fratelli, ma ci garba lo stesso. Le ricette a fine volume le ho AMATE, ottima idea, 10 out of 10.

Ora la parte spoiler che abbassa nettamente il voto alla serie

Il fatto che Sora muoia non mi ha dato particolarmente fastidio, anzi poteva essere un buon plot-twist, MA CHE CAZZO SUCCEDE DOPO? Viene buttato dentro un terzo ML identico a Sora per fare un po' di drama, ma è completamente inutile perchè non ci sarà nulla di nulla dato che il flashback iniziale della protagonista che incontra il suo principe budino dai capelli argentati verrà cambiato in favore del secondo ML dai capelli corvini che magicamente si ricorda tutto. Veramente un finale di trama immotivatamente complicato e angst

So this one was trying to be a little more serious with the MC and the 'Antagonist' having a contest to see if she goes home or not and then later having to deal with the rival girl having an eating disorder because she's a model and she wants to lose weight and she wants to be perfect...but it isn't solved as quickly as they make it seem. It isn't that easy and while I know they want this to be a lighthearted series for the most part I think there are better ways to handle a situation like an eating disorder which is a serious problem that people face and not something to be solved in a single volume. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, no doubt I just hope it's more food after this and less petty girl drama :/

Questo secondo volume tratta principalmente di una tematica difficile da affrontare, quella dei disordini alimentari.
La mangaka riesce a parlarne con cautela, permettendo al lettore di usufruire di un punto di vista attento (quello della protagonista) che secondo il mio parere non è male. Poteva essere esposto in maniera ancora migliore? Possibilmente si.
Tuttavia, questo tema non viene comunque trattato né con leggerezza, né con troppa enfasi, in modo tale da dare anche ad un possibile lettore che vive questo la possibilità di non sentirsi in difetto (cosa che invece, purtroppo, ho notato in altre opere) e, allo stesso tempo, portare alla luce questo aspetto.

Najikan tarina eliittikoulussa jatkuu. Nuoret kiusaavat tyttöparkaa ja hän etsii lohtua nukkavierusta kouluravintolasta. Ravintolassa Najika pääsee lempipuuhaansa eli kokkaamaan. Najika kokee armotonta kiusaamista ja hän alkaa katua kouluun tuloaan. Kiltteydellään ja hyvällä ruoalla hän kuitenkin pikku hiljaa alkaa voittaa ihmisiä puolelleen. Mallinhommia, kakkukisaa ja syömishäiriöitä on myös mahdutettu tarinaan mukaan. Vielä jaksaa vanhaakin kiinnostaa, että onkohan Najikan vanukasprinssi jo tavattujen nuorten joukossa. Yllättyisin suuresti, jos ei.

Oh my God, I love the kitchen princess series book two. WOW I love this series!! Najika is such a kind character and I truly can’t wait to be able to read the next volume.

I will say however that there are some notes from one of the contributors of this manga and one of them talks about something that relates to something that goes on in this volume in a strange and not good way. It isn’t apart of the story, it’s just commentary on it but it was weird especially considering the subject matter.

Volume two continues Najita's journey as she searches for her 'flan prince.' She battles the animosity of Arkane with kindness and the ability to bake food that brings smiles and good memories. Volume two does touch on the topic of eating disorders, but handles it with healing and grace. Recipes are included and I plan to try some of these myself. I generally do not often read manga or graphic novels, but this story has been fun!
