Kirsty's cousin is holding a summer fancy dress ball in a Scottish Castle and Rachel and Kirsty have been invited along. But Jack Frost is threatening to spoil the party completely. He was planning to hold a goblin party in that same castle, and he's not going to let those pesky humans get in his way.
Daisy Meadows is the pseudonym used for the four writers of the Rainbow Magic children's series: Narinder Dhami, Sue Bentley, Linda Chapman, and Sue Mongredien. Rainbow Magic features differing groups of fairies as main characters, including the Jewel fairies, Weather fairies, Pet fairies, Petal fairies, and Sporty fairies.
Narinder Dhami was born in Wolverhampton, England on November 15, 1958. She received a degree in English from Birmingham University in 1980. After having taught in primary and secondary schools for several years she began to write full-time. Dhami has published many retellings of popular Disney stories and wrote the Animal Stars and Babes series, the latter about young British girls of Asian origin. She lives in Cambridge, England with her husband and cats.
Sue Bentley was born in Northampton, England. She worked in a library after completing her education and began writing for children once her own began school. Bentley is the author of the Magic Kitten, Magic Puppy, and S Club series and lives in Northamptonshire.
Linda Chapman has written over 50 children's fiction books, including the following series: My Secret Unicorn, Stardust, Not Quite a Mermaid, and Unicorn School. She lives in Leicestershire with her husband and daughters.
Sue Mongredien was born in 1970 and grew up in Nottingham, England. She has published over 100 children's books, including the following series: The Adventures of Captain Pugwash, The Magic Key, Frightful Families, and Oliver Moon. She has also contributed many titles to the Sleepover Club series and written picture books. Mongredien created the Royal Ballet School Diaries under the pen name Alexandra Moss. She lives with her family in Bath, England.
What if you could become a fairy and help keep everyone safe. Rachel and Kirsty get the chance to be fairies and visit fairyland on a regular basis. In this extended special edition, one of the girls' cousin is having a costume ball. But Jack Frost sends his goblins to steal the costumes and disrupt the party. However, with the help of Flora the Dress-Up Fairy and her magic mask, Rachel and Kirsty trick Jack Frost and save the day. You'll have to read it to find out how. This is a great read. My daughter loves fairies and just being able to imagine being and helping fairies is a great adventure for her. Recommend to girls ages 6+.
One of the longer entries in a series designed for early elementary kids. Nearly 200 pages long, it'll be interesting to see if young readers will stick with the book long enough to finish it. If so, more to the good, it'll help kids with their reading skills.

All of these books have the exact same plot but I eat it up every single time. I mean, what is there not to like? Faries. Magic. Action. Cute costumes. It's amazing! These books geniunely made me into the person I am today and I'm obligated to reread at least one every year.
I didn't read this as a kid, but I vividly remember this being the most beautiful book I could ever imagine, kid me would have killed to get a hold of this book
Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic. Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies. On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon! If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!
My six-year-old is obsessed with these books. We have probably read at least 10 in the past two months. I dislike them as they are cheesy and incredibly formulaic, but I will read them if she keeps selecting them at the library!
Rainbow Magic: Flora Fancy Dress Fairy is an enchanting addition to the beloved series that captivates young readers with its vibrant storytelling and delightful characters. Flora's adventures sparkle with imagination, showcasing the power of friendship and creativity in a magical world filled with fun and wonder. The illustrations are beautifully done, bringing the story to life and engaging children on every page. It’s a perfect read for those who love fairies, making it a fantastic choice for bedtime or storytime. This book is sure to inspire dreams of adventure and has quickly become a favorite in our home!
This book was actually a bit boring, but it was fun nonetheless.
Little things that I noticed and felt the need to share: -BERTRAM. Just, Bertram the frog footman in all his glory. -Flora's magic is so freaking cool! I think it's awesome that both her costume and her special items are constantly changing. It makes sense that the fairy in charge of costumes and events related to costumes would be extra af and apply that to her powers too. -I absolutely LOVE that the girls dressed up as angels rather than fairies, because that's what you'd expect, but then they didn't do that and 7-year-old me would've definitely been like WHOA. -The consequence of the missing mask being that the guests were literally turning into what they were dressed as was actually a really awesome idea! Flora also looked adorable as a witch. -I also think that turning the girls' cardboard harps into real harps is one of the coolest presents that Kirsty and Rachel have ever received.
Just when I thought I was nearing the end of these series, my daughter brings home this one, and I don’t even really know what the unifying theme is. (We’ve already been through colors, weather, pets, flowers, and jewels. This one is about a fairy that is responsible for making sure costume parties go off without a hitch. Sounds like Daisy Meadows is running out of ideas.) This subset of the fairies series though includes three books in one, all interconnected telling one larger story. It’s just as predictable and vapid as its cousins, and it’s three times as long.
Our oldest adores all the stories in the Rainbow Magic series and I think she really likes these special edition books that have three stories in one. This is a fun tale that takes place in a Scottish castle and it's a quick read.
I read these books along with her, so we can chat about the plots and discuss her thoughts and ideas. I will be glad when she outgrows these books, but in the meantime, I'm just so happy that she enjoys reading!
This book is very nice because of friendships in it. Kristy and Rachel are friends with the fairies and have many adventures with them. In this book, the two girls help Flora get back her magic statue, cape, and mask back. I picked this book because I like the series. This book is adventure filled, funny, and full of action. I would recommended this book to a person who has a passion for friendship, adventure and fairies.
Elizabeth asked me to read this to her last night as she has gotten a ton of these books from Great-grandma. The story was pretty standard and not a whole lot of creativity, but Elizabeth enjoyed it which is why it got 3 stars.
So I read this book when I was younger I remember loving fairies and these books were honestly my favourite I've gave then all to my cousin and she loves them to I would recommend as a present for a younger family member
