Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.

During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..

She also writes under the name Mikela Q. Chase

I've sinned and attempted to read two books by this author. I thought I would mention why I disliked her books so strongly. They are without soul, heart, feeling, or any emotion whatsoever. The characters are mindless, ignorant, and cliched robots walking around through incredibly boring situations. I was frustrated beyond belief. And insulted as well. It was almost as though someone went through and deleted every sentence or phrase that could lead to the story being the slightest bit convincing or heartfelt. Not recommended ever. Rant finished.

I didn't like this book.

There are a few very basic elements here that prevented me from liking this book, or even seeing any quality in it:
The characters and the love story are not well develop.
The protagonist is a push-over, the vampire tells him to jump and he answers "How high?".
The love between the two happens way too fast, not believable and a cliché.

I enjoyed this one ... as the feel of the story sort of reminds me of Ms. Kell's shorter one, "Attracting Anthony". I thought Randall and Sasha are cute. I thought Dustin the shifter is cuter *I want a werewolf as a pet, I swear!*. The story is actually light, from my point of view anyway, and no real conflict among the main heroes (except when Randall is kidnapped, but he is not in real present torture or danger, since he is quickly saved). I think it's a beginning of a series and would like to know more about the rest of the vampire members, but most especially Dustin and Lewis.

Noted an inconsistency on Sasha's last name one time, but not really annoying ...

Can't believe I initially put this review under the wrong book. So sue me...gently. :laughing at my idiotic err"

I found this one to be quite impressive as I zipped through the story quite easily. At first I found the characters just weren't reaching out to me the way I had hoped. I wasn't get a grasp for them and I wasn't feeling or rather connecting with them the way I usually like when reading a story till further on into the book when what was missing finally came to light. Thus far looking at the bigger picture I did wind up enjoying the story and the added in extra characters that appeared to make it into a surprising twist that kept my interest flowing and all the characters are very likable.

I can tell by the way the book ended that there's going to more after this to come. I just hope it's not too long in waiting because pertaining to a few newbies in this story I'd really like to read about them.

Hmmm how's that without giving away spoilers and could I be anymore cryptic in this review? :snorts:

Anyhow folks I'm getting much needed sleep since I couldn't till I'd finished this being unable to put it down.

Actually I would've liked to give 1½ stars to it. It was good for a quick read-over, kind of like how a biscuit is good to tide you over until dinner, and the characters did have some endearing qualities.

However, I feel the story was too choppy, it would've benefited greatly from a more in-depth and complex plotline and character development. As it was right now it felt like everything happened too quickly, as if the author was in a rush to produce something but didn't quite manage to muster up enough energy to go the extra mile and bone the story out more. None of the characters really felt like they were alive, they felt very two-dimensional and shallow, as did the events in the story. Which is unfortunate since with a little more focus on depth and taking the time to really work the story out it could've been a rather interesting read.

Nonetheless, should there be a sequel I will at least flip through it in the hopes that the author has had the time to add the needed depth and complexity to the characters in order to make up for a really engaging read. I'd also love it if there'd be a little more twists to it.

poorly written and lack real end.... And if this is not enough to justify my 1 star vote there is just one bed scene and it's cold as ice...

Sorry, but it's not a good book in my opinion

Ps: PDF file really short...it's more a short story than a book

Randall is a medical student in need of a job. His roommate, Darren makes him a secretive proposition which ends up changing his life. As a result, Randy is introduced to Sasha, owner of a night club and very powerful vampire and is offered a job as Sasha's personal blood donor.

Their situation was supposed to be similar to a dom/sub relationship, as that is the kind of relationship a vampire and a human blood donor with an exclusive contract have in Sasha's club. It wasn't really expanded on, we only got one scene of them at Sasha's club like that. I loved the little spin on vampire mates, as they are refered to as their Suns. I also found the fact that everybody in the city knew and feared Sasha and Randy went from being a poor medical student to basically being the Queen of the city fun.

I was confused at times about the world the author had created, I wasn't sure whether vampires were supposed to be a myth, a well guarded secret, or known to all and it took a while for it to be explained. However, I enjoyed this story very much, though I do wish it had been longer. I wanted to know more about the characters, so hopefully we'll get a sequel soon.

3.5 Stars.

This book was fun and just what I was in the mood for. The characters are interesting and the plot was detailed enough to keep my reading the book in one sitting.

The book is not perfect. It was really to short to become a 'great' read. By that I mean - I felt like we skimmed the surface of alot of the key aspects of the book.

The characters were good but not well rounded enough to be great
The villain had the potential to be really evil, but we never really got there.
The sex was was hot - but really only the one scene and not the driving force behind the story.
The overall plot was kinda simple - where it could have been make gutwrenching and emotional but also really enthralling.

I am not saying that these factors are a major let down. Sometimes I am in the mood for a simple but fun story that doesnt strain to many brain cells.

I recommend this book for anyone that wants a few hours of fun reading with cute characters and a simple plot.

Vamp meets boy, fangs elongate, vamp falls into lust with boy’s blood and body, passion ensues; boy, previously independently minded, now is susceptible to bursting into tears. Pretty familiar stuff.

It’s hit and miss with Kell for me. I really liked the Dragonmen Mate Hunt and Hellbourne Hellbourne: Lost and Found series but have not been so impressed with some of her other work. In this one.... Vampire lord Sasha comes off as competitive and shallow and Randy quickly falls under his thrall. This is vampire-lite. Some small edit issues...

This was an great Vampire book, almost not long enough if I am honest, but an enjoyable read for a couple of hours.
Randy is a medical student looking for a job. His roommate, Darren, offers to help him find a new job, so one Monday evening, Randy goes with Darren, to find himself offering to be a blood donor to vampires, and specifically Sasha Baros.
Randy suddenly finds himself trying to adapt to a world, where he is important, very important to others, in a way he has never been before. This brings its own risks, and whilst, by the end of the book, Sasha and Randy are HFN if not HEA there is still threats hanging over them, which may be resolved in the next book of the series.

Well that was fun. It didn't really make much sense and we had some insta-love but I find these types of book entertaining and a nice break from the heavy stuff. Randy's a med student and broke so his roommate takes him to a club to earn money as...yep, a blood donor. And of course, the head vampire smells him and has to have him. Then he gets kidnapped and rescued and they live HEA. lol

This audiobook helped me through two of my workout sessions and for that cause it was perfect; a plot that's not too complicated, a nice number of characters and a world-building that's easy too understand. But it was a little bit hard for me to empathize with the heroes. They were rather flat characters and the falling in love was sudden and incredible. And I couldn't believe how unimpressed Randy was about all the different creatures (vampires, shifters, etc) he hadn't heard off before. Add to that that the narrator of this audiobook gave him a wee bit of a whiny voice and you'll understand that this was just an okay read for me. Nevertheless, the author raised enough questions about Randy's heritage and his future faith to make me curious about a sequel... if there's going to be one (I can't find any information about that).

A very fun read with quicky characters and lots of paranormal creatures. Really needs a sequel or two, because it seems to short right now - introduces a lot of subplots and characters that make you really want to read more.

I didn't care much for the protagonist, Randy, in this story. He seemed to be a little to accepting and outright weak. Especially since he's a med student. Not necessarily a profession I would equate with weakness. Anyway, it's a cute story, great for a quick read.

Great story. I liked Sasha (although somehow this name suits more a submissive character imo) and Randall and the development of strong relationship between them =)
I'd like to read more more about other vampires. And I would love to read the story of Dustin and Lewis. Dustin is just too cute! =)

I really, really really enjoyed it.

I loved it..

I twist thing in the end....

What am i saying ?the whole book was all twisted and stuff..

Truly, enjoyable.....come on, 70+ page didn't do justice here to the book i mean. the story could have taken more but i don't know i am running out of words here.

Randall Stewart, Medical student diabetic but hell it worked in his favor when his mean of a roommate took him out one night to meet with the boss,Sasha Baros.

Sasha is a Vamp, he is scary and well respected among this clan and supernatural world not only in supernatural world but also everone knows about him.

There is a mean villain, shifters......bonds and many thing going one....seriously i an in awe of the author who managed to get all those thing and a good storyline. In 70+ pages.

Awesome job....

I want to see more of them.....

Audiobook - again five stars because as i said its well-written book, but listening it in audio just got me so happy, i can't explain. Good Narrator choice....

Don’t bother - there is an incredibly biphobic comment made at the beginning of this book. I kept reading to see if it is redeemed in any way but it is not. The author has a character state that they don’t believe in bisexuality and that bi people are just really closeted. WTF.

Don’t believe me, read page 23. Or don’t because I am never reading anything by this author again.

"Randy didn't really believe in people being bi. The few men he'd met who proclaimed they were bisexual were really gay men in denial. Men trying to hedge their bets so they could have the traditional wife and family and still fuck other men.He wasn't going to share that belief with Darren. It wasn't worth making an issue about it."

This was an awesome read that was well written and packed with humor, danger, betrayal, a bit of action, and steamy fun. I liked Randy and the very popular Sasha (vampire) who was extremely well known by everyone. They were cute together and the story was compelling with very intriguing and engrossing characters. Loved it. =)

This had way too rapid progress from attraction to lurve. The MCs' relationship was simplistic, expressed via Vampire's sweet talk and controlling and Human's compliance.

2014 Re-read:

This is such a fun little story. No matter how many times I read it, I keep loving it. Sure, things are handled with fewer words than most authors would use and no one is exactly wallowing in emotions, but I still never fail to be entertained.

I’m especially tickled by the way Randy pretty much calmly goes along with what happens. And the fact that apparently he was the only person not to know about vampires, heh.

I don’t even recall anything about the sequel right now, so I’m eager to continue.

2011 Re-read:

So! Because I was frustrated with those half-assed, lame books I’ve been reading recently, I picked up something I’d already read. This. Because a second volume showed up and, honestly, her books are too much alike to have sparked enough memory to truly sustain a sequel, plus what memories I had were favourable.

And hey, this was genuinely entertaining! It’s very much in the author’s style with the good and the bad of it, including the very funny. It was amusing, if less for the romance than the story itself.
Wouldn’t mind to see more of this.

Meanwhile, here’s a quotation I copied, though I was tempted more than that one time.

Dustin sighed and Randy tried not to look at the man’s naked body. It was rude to stare, no matter how gorgeous he was without clothing.

‘Shifters don’t have any hang-ups about nudity,’ Dustin said, watching Randall’s expression.

‘Humans do; we’re socially repressed.’

Dustin nodded solemnly. ‘I had noticed that.’

I really enjoyed this novella. An older release, I've still read and re-read Blood Signs. It's short, it has paranormal elements that I enjoy, and it has some serious alpha male loving going on. I really liked the character dynamics built in between Sasha and Randy.

The variety of characters were nicely done to add all different personalities but were a bit predictable. We had the powerful, scary, yet sweet for you alpha male in Sasha. The fun loving protective friend in Liam, the ubiquitous second in command in Tian, the smart ass in Dustin, his cocky would be mate in the beta, the creepy subtle villain and the bad boy obvious villain. (not naming due to spoilers-I hate those)

My biggest complaint is two fold. One, this was a bit too predictable and formulaic. It also wasn't as expanded on as it could be. I got that Randy's lack of knowledge about vampires was deliberate but I'd have liked to see more of the supernatural elements. That could have corrected my first issue with the story, if the common paranormal tropes had been avoided and something inventive had been shared, which would have extended the book too-something I'd always like to see more of with Amber Kell works.

All in all ... this eBook still hit a lot of my favorite themes. I enjoyed it, and it's a nice quick read for when I don't have anything new and want to read something with a paranormal/contemporary theme.

A fun and entertaining story with characters that are fairly well rounded considered it's short length... around 25,000 words. Both Randall and Sasha and interesting men. I like both of them for vastly different reasons. Randall for his warmth, caring and determination to remain as independent as possible, and Sasha for being possessive, protective and just a little bit of a marshmallow and wanting his mate's happiness. Yes, he's not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy to the general masses but to Randall...that's another story and his personality is already changing.

I liked several of the secondary characters...Liam, Tian and Dustin and hope to see more of them in the future.

The villain, Ustin had a great potential for being truly evil but he didn't manage to pull it off and Randall's rescue happened far too easily.

There are several plot threads left dangling and new ones added at the end with the appearance of the Fae guards. I look forward to seeing what happens next with Randall and Sasha.

An engaging read from Amber Kell, who seems to be able to give the quick, satisfying read a little more depth than similar books. They're always a joy to read and I feel like I get a bit more world-building in her books than in others but I still get a satisfying guilty-pleasure type book that I can usually read in under an hour.

This book ended with more questions than when it began, and it's pretty obvious that it is the beginning of another series. I'm looking forward to seeing where this one goes. The ending leaves the impression that the focus of the next book will also be about Randall and Sasha. I hope so, because I would really love to have a single relationship series instead of another with short installments that go from couple to couple, it seems less satisfying that way.

All in all, an enjoyable read.

The story is really interesting, it's the kind of story i always search and never find, i always find those boring books with an exciting summary, and when i begin to read it all i see is: blah blah blah blah blah until i find something interesting, you know the feeling? But this book, THIS book ... i just can't explain it. I know it sounds cliché and lame but when i read Blood Signs my heart giddyupped something fierce, it's not the always boring I-have-found-my-mate-and-i'm-going-to-have-to-convince-him-of-it-and-then-we're-going-to-live-happily-ever-after thing i find all the time in shifter books (although i do like those kind of books). It's different and refreshing. Thou it's kind of awkward for those who know Russian, and i mean really know it (i live in Europe near Russia). Oh well!
