I particularly enjoyed the brief Arthurian romance "Avalon" by Mary Jo Putney -- always ready for a new take on the Arthuriad.

Never Been to Anphar was pretty good. I liked the immediate suspense and action. Got pulled right in and turning pages. I liked the ending. Perfectly sweet and loving. I would definitely read this short story again, and would keep it on my shelf. A great beginning to a good book. Bridge of Dreams was pretty good too. It was a very happy ending. Short and Sweet. *sigh* Moon Over Miranda was great, I liked the action and suspense, twists and turns. Pulled me in and I kept reading. This one's a keeper too. Great HEA. Showdown was a great western. Touching and heart-filling. I liked the 'home' feeling and the togetherness. Conquest was really good. I liked the 'alien' story line and connection that grows. The ending was perfect and I would definitely read this again. Little Beast was a great regency period romance. I liked the banter and the discovery of love. The hero was just in time and the heroine had spirit. Legend was great too. I liked the touching moments and the got teared up a little towards the end of this story. I would read this one again too. Love how the history is a 'story' and has a HEA. The Growing Season was a good contemporary and had good humor and banter. I liked the small town feel 'sometimes'. :) Nobody's Angel was a great time-travel/western. I liked the fiestiness of the two lead characters and the friendliness of the others. The ending was perfect and stubborness is a plus. Avalon was great. I really liked the author's plan for a HEA for Arthur and enjoyed reading this one. Teared up a little and smiled with the great scenes and imagination written in this story.

Overall, this is one of the best anthologies I've read and is definitely a keeper. I liked ALL of the stories and would read them again. Enjoy!

Ten stars that were the subject of the authors' fantasies were portrayed metaphorically in this anthology. My favorite was Mary Jo Putney's Sean Connery as King Arthur story which was inspired by the movie First Knight. It definitely had some creative elements. One aspect was very surprising but mythologically appropriate. I do admit that if I were writing a Sean Connery story I would want to base it on his portrayal of the older Robin Hood in Robin and Marian.

Then there were two stories dealing with material with thematic similarities to TV series that are favorites of mine. I really liked Mary Kirk's tale of immortals with striking differences from the Highlander TV series that inspired her. Rebecca York's science fiction story contained a race culturally similar to Klingons, but the rest of the story line was definitely a departure from Star Trek, so it too was by no means a piece of fan fiction. In fact, the attitude of the Terran authorities resembled the military in the movie Avatar more than Star Trek's Federation.

One story that I found problematic was Barbara Cummings Jimmy Smits story. I admire the author's taste in actors, but the story's premise had believability problems. I thought the set up implied that the Jimmy Smits character was somewhat lacking in smarts, and I've never seen a stupid Jimmy Smits character. This is why the anthology as a whole didn't rate higher for me.

This is 10 short stories (about 30 pgs each)by various authors! All romance, so if you like that stuff, youll like this one! There's a time travel, a futuristic, Vikings, historical, you name it, its probably here! I probably bought this yrs ago when I liked romance. I no longer do,,,, so it was a bore to me, but I read it anyhow. I figured short stories of only 30 pgs or so each would go far. Some went faster then others, but for the most part, it just dragged on and I couldnt wait to be done with it! If youre not into romance, skip it! If you like romance, youll probably like it! Give it a try!

This was given to me by a bookcrosser I met in Georgia. She loved it. I found it a quick read, with the interesting twist that each author picked a favorite actor to model her hero on. Ten stories, 10 heroes. I must admit that my own fantasies of Harrison Ford, Colin Firth or Geroge Clooney were a bit different! My favorite part of each story was the little blurb at the front by each author.

I don't remember much about this book. I know that I love several of the authors in this anthology and I remember thinking that some of these stories are just too crazy short. I like a lot more plot development than can be fit into 30-40 pages.

Too short of stories for me. Not enough meat in them to really grip you.
