Hime-sama and especially Akira have to deal with their betrayal which goes beyond just destroying Akira emotionally. Detailed plans of the bund and its defenses are now in the hands of Hime-sama’s enemies. Worse, the three vampire princes now know she can take adult form and bear a child.
The story opens more gently with the arrival of the old werewolves and the young pups are in a panic. Apparently they’re tough old codgers and it’s pretty amusing and then there is a picnic for Yuki who is still recovering and suffering from aphasia due to the brain damage she suffered. We meet the princess’s personal photographer but the peace ends quickly. The volume is non-stop action with loads of Machiavellian plotting by the three vampire princes and Ivanovic himself comes to the island to claim Hime-sama. There will be further betrayals and plot twists in this including the revelation of Telomere’s main player, though why they wanted to name themselves after mitotic control of the cell I have no idea. Telomerase would be more accurate, a protein seen in cancer.
The action is intense. The art is fine as always. I don’t even know why the mangaka bothers with clothes at all for Hime-sama when every time she spends ninety percent of her onscreen appearances naked but for panties. The art on the cover is out of proportion, disturbingly so. I hate to say it, the artist does better drawing Hime-sama in her big-boobed, adult form.
