After surviving a trauma several years back, Remy Reed relocated to a cottage on one of Maine’s most remote islands. She’s arranged her life just the way she wants it, spending her time working on her wood sculptures and soaking in the beauty of nature. It’s quiet and solitary—until the day she spots something bobbing in the ocean.
Her binoculars reveal the “something” to be a man, and he’s struggling to keep his head above water. She races out to save him and brings him into her home. He’s injured, which doesn’t detract from his handsomeness nor make him any easier to bear. He acts like a duke who’s misplaced his dukedom...expensive tastes, lazy charm, bossy ideas.
Remy would love nothing more than to return him to his people, but he has no recollection of his life prior to the moment she rescued him. Though she’s not interested in relationships other than the safe ones she’s already established, she begins to realize that he’s coming to depend on her.
Who is he? What happened that landed him in the Atlantic Ocean? And why is she drawn to him more and more as time goes by?
There’s no way to discover those answers except to walk beside him down memory lane.

I took my time and really considered my rating and review before posting anything. Here it is.
Memory Lane starts off so strong with some great tropes we love to see. Girl rescues guy. Guy has to stay in girl’s house as he recovers. Guy has no memories. Girl is trying not to get attached but inevitably…they are exactly what each other needs.
Remy, our female lead, is spunky and relatable. She is an artist and lives and works alone on an island off the coast of Maine. She sees this mystery man floating in the ocean and races out to save him. They end up calling him Jonah when he can’t remember his name. He was fascinating. He clearly has a complicated past that led him to floating in the ocean. I was immediately intrigued by him.
Once Remy and Jonah (you do find out his real name by the way. it’s not Jonah), agree to start investigating who Jonah is and where he comes from, connections to his family and career start getting revealed. We meet his parents and ooooooh snap this series is rightly titled “Sons of Scandal”.
My favourite part was the mystery of his accident and how his past relationships influenced it. I wanted to know all about him and his family. He has a sweet brother named Jude who I definitely crushed on this whole book. Can’t wait for his story.
The relationship between Remy and “Jonah” was rocky for sure. She had a lot of trauma in her past that kept her from fully committing to a new relationship. It was heartbreaking to read. The way her trauma affected the relationship wasn't my favourite thing to read and kept it from being a 5 star.
There was some faith content. The Jonah character felt compelled to go to church even when he had no memories. He prayed a couple times. Remy’s faith was unstable but she does have a revelation close to the end and remembers God’s great love for her. I do wish there was more throughout.
Trigger warnings: rape, infidelity, suicide, attempted murder There are some kissing scenes and mentions of sex. No language at all.
I am so happy for Becky Wade and this new release! Thank you to her for allowing me to read and review this as part of her launch team.
Memory Lane was a page-turner for me. I loved the banter between the two main characters. Remy lives on an island off the coast of Maine, where she moved after a traumatic event. She lives a simple life that includes her routine and her career as a wood sculptor. One day she spots a man floating in the ocean in front of her cottage and rescues him. With help from her friend Leigh and an EMT living on the island, she takes care of him while he recovers his injuries. But he has amnesia, so she and he came up with the name of Jonah, from the Bible. Then when Jonah develops a chest infection, they have to go to the mainland to a hospital. Where he is recognized. This novel flowed along, and the pace didn't slow down as Remy helps Jonah, now Jeremiah, get settled in a life he doesn't remember, recover his health and memory. This is a fun, lively story with great characters and an interesting storyline. Jeremiah's past has some things going on that are complicated and not so rosy. But then so does Remy's. I enjoyed the banter, attraction that develops, but also a good mystery with action, danger, and suspense in Jeremiah's life. I am looking forward to the nest story. Loved this one! I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. All thoughts expressed are mine.
Memory Lane by Becky Wade is the first book in a new series, A Sons of Scandal Romance series. Set on a remote island in Maine, we follow Remy Reed, who spends most of her time working on wood sculptures and spending quiet time to herself. One day, she sees an unknown man swimming in the ocean, struggling to stay afloat. She goes out to sea and rescues this mystery man and everything takes off from here. We see Remy, her friend Leigh and a local EMT working to help this man get better, but he has a serious case of amnesia so they end up with the name “Jonah” for him until they can reveal his real identity.
This story took me through it ya’ll! 4 stars! I was mostly connected to our main guy here and his story – as the mystery of him and his family really interested me along the way. Remy and him start to get to know each other and we start to see a bit of “enemies to lovers” going on here! I thought at first they had some great chemistry and really enjoyed seeing them interact while he was trying to get his memories back. I specifically loved seeing even though “Jonah” didn’t have any memory of his life or who he was, he felt like faith was important to him and he felt the urge inside him to go to church and we see him do that.
While I never fully connected to Remy and would have liked a bit more faith content/revelations/in depth discussions for her in this story, the journey she takes with “Jonah” was special and I enjoyed seeing all the emotions taking place. A wild ride indeed!
Once “Jonah’s” identity was revealed, everything gets CRAZY with his family fast! We are learning all about his parents, their drama, and the reason this is a “Sons of Scandal” story! I did like seeing his brother Jude and him together – can’t wait for his story as future books come out. His family dynamic was very interesting and wild!
One item I did really enjoy was seeing Remy help this older man Wendell cleaning and organizing his home and trying to help him find an old girlfriend of his. That was so sweet.
This book does deal with some heavier topics, including sexual assault, trauma, infidelity, affairs, and suicide.
Overall, I really enjoyed Memory Lane and am so grateful to have read an advanced reader copy for honest review. Thank you, Becky Wade!
The storyline was unique and had me drawn in right from the start. I truly could not put this book down. From the beginning gave us an idea of the characters and what they were dealing with. - A famous Family, scandal, a mystery, and adding both characters with a complicated past, you have a story that will keep you wanting to read what happens next. Don't let the cute illustrated cover fool you, charming story- fun-banter dialogue, with a good measure of depth- suspense-emotional scenes, and lots of twists and turns. I thought the memory-lost trope was done exceptionally well!

Becky Wade knows how to write an intriguing story, the pacing felt perfect, and I really enjoy the witty banter laced with humor, the mystery, and the amnesia angle. I highly recommend it! looking forward to the next story.
Clean Read. lots of kissing, but nothing further.
Thank you, Becky Wade, and NetGalley for the complimentary eARC. All Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
This book is everything I didn’t know I needed for my first official 5 star read of the year. It has everything—which shouldn’t work, and for any other author probably wouldn’t. But Becky Wade’s genius brings everything together beautifully. Amnesia, grumpy-sunshine, artist, millionaire, rich/famous family…plus scandal, mystery, a dash of suspense, romance despite a resistant heroine, traumatic backstories on both H/h’s parts…seriously. Everything. It shouldn’t all work together but absolutely does.
I could gush on and on about Remy and Jeremiah, but I don’t want to give anything away. But oh, my heart. Love them both and they’re perfect together.
It’s grittier than most of her previous books, though still clean and with a naturally woven spiritual thread. Great setting, perfect pacing, tons of chemistry, and side characters who offer so much more than plot convenience. I truly cannot wait to read more of these Sons of Scandal!
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book, as I am a fan of the author. The creativity and writing was excellent. I gave the book 2 stars for that. As a Christian I can't recommend this book as it is considered a Christian book. The several uses of alcohol to cope with situations. Using hypnosis as a norm for a situation in this book. The way the main female treated the male.....it felt as if her trauma and value was more important than him. It felt like the man was more attractive than actually having value as a human.
It did a wrap together in the story well, as the author is talented. Going into it as a Christian, I would have chosen to not read it if I had known these details.
An enjoyable romance... what happens when you take a hero with amnesia, a heroine who's hiding from the world, and a mystery? Add a dash of attraction, and you have a sweet romance from one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed this novel set in Maine. It has the rich characterization and heart I expect from a Becky Wade novel.
Nobody can write enemy to lover troupe than Becky Wade. Really she is amazing! Remy finds herself looking at the sea and she sees a main in the Ocean. She recuse him and saves his life. When he awakes he can't remember who he is? What Remy discovers that he has a taste in the finer things in life. Being hurt herself she agrees to take him in while healing. So starts the adventure of Remy and Jeremy. Together they try to discover who killed Jeremy wife and who tried to kill him. Will they discover the truth without killing each other in the process??
I really loved this book! Our two main protagonists are brilliant. The comedy is priceless and well as the mystery they try to solve. You will be invested in this book from beginning to end. It is a Christian Fiction novel but I believe all will enjoy this wonderful book!! I highly recommend this great novel and I sure hope there is a book 2. I want more Remy and Jeremy!!!
Thank you NetGalley for giving me a early copy. Also thanks Becky Wade for letting me read this early!! I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a long while!!!
Don’t let the darling cover fool you, this book will take you on an intense ride with mystery, romance, intrigue, and unforgettable characters! Becky Wade has long been a favorite author, so when I heard she was self publishing and doing something new, I had to read this book. Wow, it did not disappoint! It’s a little grittier than her previous books. All of her books have mystery, but this book takes it to a new level. I love the clever way amnesia makes it even more intense. The story is raw and real with a good slow burn romance/mystery that’s hard to put down.
On a remote Maine island, Remy’s life is turned upside down when she rescues a drowning man. She’s hidden herself there to recover from a painful trauma and hone her woodworking talent. The handsome man she rescues is a complete mystery. Along with his wounds, he has amnesia. That doesn’t stop his suave, captivating personality from shining through. He seems to be wealthy and appreciate the finer things in life. I won’t reveal much more because part of the fun is trying to figure out who he is and what led him to being in the ocean.
Once “Jonah’s” identity is revealed, the mystery becomes even more intense with him trying to remember family members and friends and not trusting any of them. The only person he trusts is Remy. But, Remy is hiding her own secrets which makes it difficult to open up to him. She’s not a beautiful, flashy woman and worries that when he finally remembers his past, he’ll quickly move on.
I loved the relationship between Remy & “Jonah.” While frustrated with not remembering, he’s so patient when it comes to Remy. Her past trauma makes her leery to trust and he completely respects her boundaries and comfort level. I loved the scenes in the cabin where he fully lets Remy take control. The author definitely keeps things clean but, there’s a sizzling undercurrent all throughout. While they have an instant connection, their relationship develops slowly and carefully as they share their deepest secrets. The suspense ratchets up as they search for clues to his past setting things up for an intense, suspenseful conclusion.
I would classify this story as a contemporary romance/mystery. The characters particularly “Jonah’s” family members have messy, complicated pasts. The endearing side characters add to the small town feel and there’s a sweet, poignant side story that offers some lightness and a bit of humor. It’s one of those books with rich layers you’ll enjoy discovering. While faith is mentioned, it’s realistically and subtly woven into the characters’ lives. I enjoyed the way questions and struggles with faith were overcome. This story beautifully sets up the series, and I can’t wait to read the next book! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.
Trigger warnings: mentions of rape, suicide, marital infidelity.
It kind of hurts me to give this book such a low rating, as I have loved many of Becky Wade's other books. Had I realized it was self-published, I probably wouldn't have been as surprised at the content. This book took a lot of liberties, and I would be pretty careful to label it Christian Fiction... Adultery, hypnosis, and so.much.drinking( just to name a few red flags) ....sigh...big disappointment.😔.
3⭐ Genre ~ contemporary fiction Series ~ Sons of Scandal, #1 Setting ~ island off the coast of Maine Publication date ~ February 14, 2023 Est Page Count ~ 432 (28 chapters +e) Audio length ~ 12 hours 27 minutes Narrators ~ Heather Masters, Ryan Hudson POV ~ multiple 3rd Featuring ~ amnesia, references to suicide and rape, no steamage
Remy saves a man floating in the ocean. He has no clue how he got there or who he is. Come to find out his name is Jeremiah and he's a very wealthy former Formula 1 driver.
I do enjoy a good amnesia story, and I did like how they investigated and figured out who he was, but there was a lot of focus on a woman in his past, and what she did, that I felt went on for a bit too long ~ kinda like my sentence 🤣.
I loved the other mystery of Remy trying to help her 80 year old friend, Wendel, find an old love. So sweet!
Overall, there were some cute moments, but I would have liked more on the budding romance. Love the cleaver title.
Narration notes: They were both okay and did fine-ish with their opposite sex voices. Happy there were two.
Sparks fly when Remy pulls a stranger out of the waves in front of her house, becoming in that moment the only person he's ever remembered meeting. Jeremiah is obviously wealthy but has no idea who he is or who would have pushed him off a boat into the ocean.
Remy, like Finley (Wade's last book), was a character whose personality and lifestyle I couldn't relate to at all, but I wanted to know what would happen to her and Jeremiah. I loved the unique supporting cast. The moment Jude appeared, I knew he was the one I would have been more likely to pick and am looking forward to his book.
The biggest difference between this book and everything else I've read from Wade is this one is missing the clear explanation of the gospel she usually brings. To say the faith thread is light in this story is an understatement; I had no idea at the end of the book even where the characters ' faith stood. If you're looking for more of a general market clean read with Wade's signature style, this is it, but I personally will be looking forward to seeing her return to the strong faith messages that drew me to her books in the first place.
I read an copy of this book provided by the publisher and Netgalley so I could write a honest review, and all opinions are my own.
I have a new favorite Becky Wade book! There are so many facets to this story yet it's reads seamlessly. The characters are well developed. They really jumped off the page and felt like real people. The mystery held my attention. I had no idea who did it. I'm anxious to read the next book in this series! I do want to mention that the several mentions of casual drinking bothered me as this book is listed as Christian fiction.
I have been a fan of Becky Wade's work for a long time and was really excited to read this one. Unfortunately, I went away really disappointed.
I'm going to start with what I DID like about the book.
•The banter between the two MCs was pretty funny throughout the book. The male MC especially had a dry/sarcastic sense of humor that I enjoyed. •The communication between the MCs was done really well. The male MC was open and honest with her from the beginning about his feelings, while also being respectful of her choices. (ETA: except for when he breaks into her house---a woman who is scared of men---and then refuses to leave) •There were some past traumas that I thought the author handled well.
Okay, on to what I didn't care for.
•The characters were flat and one-dimensional. There were zero emotions for any of the characters. I had no idea what they were feeling until we were told, but then I didn't know why they were feeling that way. We never got deep into their heads and because of that, I was really disconnected from them. •Some of the wording used was a bit too much and could have been expressed differently and made it more romantic had it been. •The male MC is perfect. Like literally. He has no flaws. Anything that could be a flaw was something that happened TO him. There were no physical or personality flaws. No sins that he had to overcome. The one mistake he made happened before the book even took place and he knew it was wrong by this point. •Every time we entered a new scene, we were told everything each character (side characters included) was wearing and also every tiny detail about the room they were in. I wish we could have seen details of their emotions vs what they chose to wear that day. •Because of the lack of emotions as mentioned previously, the romance seemed all physical with nothing deeper drawing these characters to one another. •Lastly, and this was probably the biggest disappointment of all, the faith---or lack thereof. While there were mentions of God sprinkled throughout the book, I never could tell if these characters were actually Christian or not. There is one moment with the female MC where there needed to be some kind of repentance, even a brief, "I'm sorry, God" would have sufficed. But there was nothing. We also never really saw whether the male MC was actually a Christian beyond him saying, "I feel God is important to me" while he was still recovering from amnesia. This was extremely disappointing because this author's faith message is usually really strong and solid.
Overall, this book just wasn't for me, and though I have truly enjoyed her previous works, makes me cautious to pick up the next book.
**I received an ARC from NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
A romance book with the amnesia trope and I didn't hate it?? Sound the alarm!!
I actually liked it here because it made sense, from the start Jeremiah didn't have his memories so we as readers didn't have to go through the pain of him having them then losing them then finding them again which is the main reason I dislike that trope (I don't mind if they're already lost and then have to be rediscovered, like here).
There was a mystery element to the book, not just in relation to who Jeremiah was prior to the memory loss, but also whether there was foul play involved. Handsome men don't just end up floating in the ocean in the middle of a storm, believe it or not.
After Remy fishes him out their story starts. They bicker and don't like each other, except they DO like each other, but there's things stopping them from getting together. Mainly Remy's past & the fact that Jeremiah doesn't have all of his memories yet, and well, his identity too.
I won't spoil any of that though, I liked the clues we got and at first I was surprised at how fast we got the reveal, but considering everything else that happened after it made sense.
I do still feel like there was a bit too much filler in the book, from the other characters. I didn't mind hearing Jude's PoV as his was the most relevant next to the two leads, and because his own book is next, but the others didn't add that much to the story.
As for the romance, I liked it, but I definitely got mad at both of them on separate occasions. But not as mad as I usually get when I'm reading contemporary romance so I'm counting that as a win. These characters actually acted like adults, and yeah Jeremiah could have his spoiled moments (especially at the start), but I wasn't rolling my eyes at either of them.
We got some cute lines between them too, for example:
“Why are you here?” “Because this is where you are.” He looked her straight in the face while gently extracting an inch- long curl of wood from her topknot. “If this is where you are, then this is the only place I want to be.”
I also liked the Wendell/Marisol side story, I'm so glad they got their happy ending.
What I had a bit of a problem with was the heavy atmosphere. It wasn't because of the mystery or because of what happened to Remy, just something that prevented me from having a fully enjoyable time with the book. It could've been the writing a bit, I'm not sure. But something was there.
The first half was more engaging than the second, this is probably because the MCs spent a lot of time apart in the second half. I was just waiting for them to meet again, then there was an opportunity, but it didn't work so the wait was even longer until the climax.
Also, I didn't guess the twist at the end, but I wasn't trying to. I think the other clues we got for the other side plots were better done than that one.
Anyhow, this was my first book by the author, and I liked it enough to give book two a try when it comes out in February. If that goes well I might go back and read some of her other books too, though this one has appealed to me the most since I saw it months ago.
Don’t let the cute cover fool you, this book has a lot going on. Mystery, romance, trauma and family dynamics combine for a fantastic story. It’s by turns humorous, heartfelt, romantic and dramatic.
Remy lives in a rustic cabin on an island off of Maine, savoring her peaceful existence until the day she rescues a handsome stranger with amnesia. I loved all of the interactions between Remy and Jeremiah and the romance is done with sensitivity to Remy’s traumatic past. There is also a whole crew of interesting side characters, and a gentle faith element woven throughout. When I finished it, I immediately wanted to read it again.
I received an eARC for review and all opinions are my own.
I was really excited when I got the chance to read Becky Wade’s new release! A cute opposites attract/ enemies-to-lovers romance, a cottage by the sea in Maine setting, an artsy heroine who saves the hero, and a bit of a mystery had me really excited to read Memory Lane.
First of all, I loved the setting! I’ve always liked cottages so I loved that Remy lived in one! I also liked Remy and reading about her very simple and secluded lifestyle. It kind of sounded like the perfect getaway in my mind. I loved that she was artsy and imaginative. As for the hero, I won’t say much for spoilers, but I did like him! While I couldn’t relate to him or his lifestyle as much, I enjoyed reading his journey to finding Remy and found it interested to read about someone recovering from amnesia. The romance was sweet and I enjoyed the banter between these two as they went from not even liking each other to becoming friends to more.
It was exciting having mystery and suspense tied into the plot as well as having a side plot about a sweet elderly couple thrown in.
This book does deal with some heavier topics. A few times I was a little uncomfortable with details concerning certain things but thankfully things never went too far. Something I missed in this book and wished there was a little more of was faith content. The faith content in this book was very subtle. It was more present at the end which I enjoyed but for most of the book it felt absent. I also didn’t care for the casual drinking but I know that doesn’t bother most people. I didn’t care for Fiona’s POV or how much talk there was of couples having affairs.
Content notes/ trigger warning: Assault, trauma, infidelity/affairs, and alcohol/casual drinking.
Overall, I enjoyed this book! While I didn’t love it quite as much as some of Becky Wade’s other books I’ve read, it was still a good book and I enjoyed the first part of the book the most. I’m looking forward to reading Jude’s story since I really liked him in this book! If you’re looking for a sweet romance that deals with heavier topics, I think you’ll enjoy this one!
*Thank you to the author for a complimentary copy to review! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Remy’s quiet life is flipped around when she rescues a man lost in the ocean with no memory of who he is or where he came from. As the pieces start falling back into place, “Jonah” and Remy find themselves searching for the truth, facing their pasts, and maybe even finding love again.
I loved the romance- not only with the leads but also with some older couples. I love it when stories include both the young and the old finding love again. Plus, the older folk in this book had some good one-liners. The wit was top-notch, and I found myself grinning a bunch of times!
There were some serious and sensitive topics as part of the story, which I thought that the author handled well. The difficulty of dealing with such situations wasn’t brushed over casually, but gently acknowledged. I liked the mystery part of the story too and was invested in finding out what happened!
I had a hard time putting this down, and I’m excited for the rest of the series!
Each time I crack open a new Becky Wade book, I do so with giddy anticipation, knowing that I’m in for a deliciously swoony, witty, and heartfelt ride. Her latest release, Memory Lane, is a blend of sweet romance (with a gentle faith thread), deep topics, light mystery, and hilarious banter.
Let’s talk about that hilarious banter for a minute, because to me this was one of the highlights of the story. Imagine with me, if you will, Ryan Reynolds as a man who’s been rescued from the choppy seas of Maine by a ‘schedule-dependent’ free spirit on an isolated island … and he has no memories. Doesn’t know his name, his job, his anything. But he has retained his dry sarcasm-humor and seems to be a relatively good guy in general. This is how I pictured “Jonah” in his interactions with Remy (our heroine) and even Leigh (Remy’s lobsterwoman neighbor), and as you might imagine he quickly endeared himself to me. I was rooting for him to get his memories back, of course, and to solve the mystery he was working on before his untimely swim in the sea… but mainly? I loved watching him fall in love – and be in love – with Remy. Becky Wade sure knows how to write a yummy hero, and “Jonah” is no exception!
Remy at first is a bit of an enigma. On the one hand, she adheres to a schedule and a list of key things (hydration!). On the other hand she is an artist who gets wrapped up in her work to the exclusion of all else. She’s open-hearted (Wendell!!) but also keeps people at a certain distance – after all, she willingly relocated to an island that’s fairly cut off from modern conveniences like spur-of-the-moment groceries, restaurants, decent Wifi, etc. As Wade peels back the layers of Remy’s story, however, it’s clear why she has hidden herself behind an emotional fortress of protective walls. Here is where “Jonah” really shines in his affection for her…. and here I go swooning again. Don’t be mistaken in thinking that “Jonah” rescues Remy from her trauma, though. Rather, he provides her the same anchor in the storm that she’s been for him and allows his steadfast love for her to be a picture of God’s own love for her. I thought the author handled this difficult topic with great grace & sensitivity, while still building in some to-die-for, toe-curling kisses that also don’t dismiss Remy’s past trauma – or “Jonah’s” for that matter.
Bottom Line: Two broken souls. One remote island. Witty banter. A grumpy-sunshine romance in the making (with those roles not necessarily applying in the order you might expect). Sounds like the set-up for a swoonilicious Becky Wade novel to me – and Memory Lane is exactly that! “Jonah” and Remy have instant chemistry and their snappy back-and-forth dialogue had me grinning from ear to ear. So did their kisses … well, okay mostly I just FANNED over those because hello yummy hero who is a gentleman with a dash of rogue. Some minor subplots added greater dimension to both of the protagonists and to the story, and I’m particularly intrigued in Jude’s story which is coming next. Bring on more Sons of Scandal romance! I’m here for it all.
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
It pains me to write this because Becky Wade is one of my favorite writers. I've read all of her books and was looking forward to Memory Lane, but was sadly disappointed. I'm not sure if there was a shift in her writing or if it has to do with her self-publishing this book, but the entire writing just felt elementary and not like Wade. Normally her books have me glued to the story and I don't want to put the book down, but I found this one hard to pick up and finish.
The other character point of views kind of threw me. I know many other authors write from 3+ character point of views, but personally that annoys me and I typically choose not to read those stories. It didn't really feel like there was a purpose for the extra POV's either.
I was also disappointed in the use of alcohol. Beer, liquor, and wine are all drank and talked about throughout the book. The free use of this just made it feel like I was reading a secular book versus a Christian one.
Edited again!! I just listened again for.the third time with my husband. It was so fun going through the book with him. He enjoyed it and laughed as much as I did with the banter. Now we are on to Rocky Road. Edited... I read this book in February and just listened to the audio version. Y'all it was FANTASTIC. The narrators nailed it, and brought the book to life for me. I highly recommend giving this a listen.
Memory Lane is a fun romantic read about a man who is fished out of the water by a shy sculptor. He has amnesia. They work together to find out the mystery of who he is. And end up with even more mysteries and suspense. I loved the banter!! I literally laughed out loud. It is a fun read, but it also takes on a more serious subject as well. I loved the ending. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Although I haven’t read much by Becky Wade as of yet I have had several of her books on my TBR list and so I was super excited about starting this new series. I instantly fell in love with the cover and premise of the book when I first heard about Memory Lane. This book totally delivered and was a 5 star read for me. It was real, heartfelt, and full of mystery, intrigue, and romance.
I honestly had trouble putting this book down and when I had to I was so excited to jump back into the story. It grabbed me from the very first page. Remy lives on an island near Maine. She loves her life of solitude; it feels safe to her. When she sees a man who has been injured floating in the water near her home that all changes. She rescues him and learns that he has amnesia so she becomes his caretaker. They decide to call him Jonah as they search for answers about who he is.
Jonah was so easy to like right from the start and me being an introvert myself I could totally relate to Remy and how it was harder to get to know her and for her to let others in. I loved the dual point of view so we could get both of their perspectives. The pace was great as we see Jonah's story unveil a little at a time and we get to know more about his life as he learns it. Remy is also dealing with things from her past that still need healing. Jonah is so patient and kind with her. I also loved the relationship between Jonah and his brother Jude and how he was there for him from the start.
By the cover you may be expecting a light read by this book dealt with some heavier topics like sexual assault and infidelity that occurred before the story. Becky Wade handles this wonderfully and with sensitivity.
Memory Wade is a clean Christian read that will take you on a journey and bring a smile to your face. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and reading more from this author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the perfect example of don't judge a book by a cover, but not in the way you usually hear that. Let me explain:
1) I LOVE this cover 2) I also was super intrigued by this book
However, this book took twists and turns I wouldn't have expected with this type of a cover. The title is perfection, and I think it's perfect...as is the series name.
This is my second book by this author and her writing style is really interesting and hooks me in every time. Believe me, I can't do anything else until I finish the book. This one had so much more suspense and mystery than I was expecting, and let me tell you I was HERE FOR IT!
There was some deep, dark subject matter that the characters have and are experiencing (I will add them to a content/trigger warning at the bottom of my review). It really solidified these two characters needing to work together and rely on one another. It maybe went in to a little more detail in a few places than what I am comfortable with. It may also be that I wasn't expecting things to go where they went based off the cover. I wouldn't say anything is explicit, but definitely more heavy and dark than I usually read.
I can't deny that I was hooked on this book. There was no such thing as a to-do item needing to be done while I was still turning the pages in this book. I really can't wait for the next one because I really need more of this family, despite how crazy their relationships/situations are.
I would definitely recommend this for a more mature audience.
Memory Lane by Becky Wade will be available February 14, 2023
Thanks to the author for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.
Content/Trigger warnings: rape/sexual assault, betrayal, infidelity, brief mention of marital relations and intimacy between an unwed couple, mention of suicide and a few religious exclamations (no OMG's).
Memory Lane is the first book in the Sons of Scandal series and a story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading!
I love amnesia stories, so it was exciting to see that this book features that as a plot point. I thought it was written very well and the characters were authentic.
I loved the mystery! It was a treat to have a crime to try to solve - not something you always find in a contemporary romance. ;)
The characters were great. I especially liked Jeremiah's brother, Jude, and cannot wait to read the next book which is about him.
The romance was a little heated at times, so I only recommend this for mature readers. I wish the faith element would have been a little more prominent.
All in all, Memory Lane was a really good read and one I'm so glad I read! If you've read and enjoyed other books by Becky Wade, then I think you'll like this one.

(4.5 Stars) I’ve been intimidated by this book for a while now because everyone says it’s different than expected. So I went to the other extreme, thinking it would be dark and heavy, but it definitely wasn’t. Yes, there are some serious and more weighty issues, but it didn’t sink my soul.
Becky Wade has developed a new series set in Maine, which is the first fascinating point, but it’s also about a family full of secrets, scandal and drama. Intriguing, right?
Remy is a woodworking artist living on a remote island in main and when she rescues a drowning man, she becomes involved in a swirling mystery with this man who has a pretty good case of amnesia. I enjoyed watching Remy and “Jonah” work to uncover his past, along with a few other mysteries, and fight a growing attraction as they did so. The instant connection they share is mingled with so many messy plot points and deep, hidden secrets, but there are undercurrents of hope, as well as sparks of chemistry for this unlikely pair.
Wade does a great job of tackling complex issues and dousing them with romance and sprinkles of religion. I’m excited to read more about this family.
Content/TW: off page marital infidelity, r*pe, suic*de, religion (non-preachy)
Memory Lane by Becky Wade wastes no time jumping right into the story. From the very first chapter, there's action, and it's fast-paced, and I really appreciated how the author jumped right into the story. Having just finished Memory Lane, I think having a fast introduction to the characters was a great idea.
Some things I appreciated about the book:
-The witty banter and enemies-to-lovers trope (I don't always enjoy this trope depending on how the author crafts the story, but I think this book did it well!)
-The themes of former abuse and trauma. The author did a good job of making Remy's character arc relatable because all of us have experienced trauma in some form--whether it was physical, like Remy's, mental, or emotional, every form of trauma comes with triggers. Remy's hesitancy to put herself out there and take a chance on love was understandable, and just how she hid away and ran to what was safe and comfortable rather than what was new and scary was also well done.
-Faith elements. While not explored in too much depth, there were some scenes/moments that were powerful and related to how God allows suffering when He has the power to stop it.
Two things I didn't love as much:
-For a few chapters, there were some random POVs that I felt distracted from the story and didn't serve a strong purpose. Jeremiah's mom was one of those. I'm wondering if the next book will include more of her journey? If so, I wish there had been more chapters with her so her character and purpose in the story was better established. If not, I kinda wish her POV had been cut. But that's just my personal opinion :)
-I really wish that, after Remy had realized that she did love Jeremiah and wanted to take a chance on love and learn to trust again despite all her past trauma/triggers holding her back, that *she* had been the one to reconcile with Jeremiah first. Circumstances (which I won't mention here for spoilers) bring them together, but I...wish she had been the one to reconcile with Jeremiah before--or at least, even texting him and saying she'd like to talk, so the reader at least knows that that was her goal before things went haywire. Again, my personal opinion :)
(Content Warning: mentions of sexual assault (rape); mentions of affairs and children born out of wedlock.)
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an eARC of Memory Lane. A positive review was not required, only my honest opinion. All thoughts are expressly my own.

Listen... I love the quirky heroines. Every. Single. Time. Pair them with a confident hero who doesn't shy away from the quirks, but instead encourages them and I'm a goner. Banter? I'm all for it.
Side-character I'm most excited to see more of: Fiona. I know... I'm probably one of the few. But I am confident that Becky Wade is going to do something to knock our socks off with her story in the next two books and I am here for it. Was she easy to love? Nope. But I see the potential for great growth. She amused me in her own way though. She walked right off the page for me.
Jude's story is next and I loved the set-up of his story in this one. It was enough of a glimpse that it hooked me.
P.S. Buy yourself some chocolate pudding... It'll only enhance the reading experience.
Updated to add: the audiobook is fantastic! Love the narrators!
Audiobook (narrated by Heather Masters and Ryan Hudson)
I enjoyed this romance. Watching Jeremiah slowly recover his memory as he seeks to solve a mystery is intriguing, and seeing Remy come back into her own after tragedy and fear caused her to retreat from the world is satisfying. There isn’t really a faith element in the book which I did miss. Nonetheless, the Sons of Scandal series is off to a good start. I look forward to Jude’s story.
