Neo re-read this one, having discovered the joys of ‘read-along’ audiobooks!
When the farmer's tractor is too much to ignore, Minnie and Moo find themselves driving it around and flying through the air. They arrive at 'The Moon' and must try to get home before anyone notices that the tractor is missing. The scramble is on... Neo thought it silly, as a tractor is not strong enough to get to the Moon, "is it Daddy?"
Minnie and Moo are cows, best friends, & the drollest duo to come along since Frog and Toad. The two set off on a drive that they believe takes them to the moon. Other farm animals are involved, with hilarious consequences. (Goodreads summary)
Minnie and Moo Go to the Moon (Minnie and Moo) by Denys Cazet is one of a very funny series of beginning readers. Moo decides she and her friend Minnie should drive the tractor. Hijinks definitely ensue, things are not fun for many of their fellow farm residents. Minnie is decidely the brains of the outfit, yet loyally follows her friend into trouble.
There is a fair amount of repetition, good size type & lots of humor to make this a fun selection for beginning/transitional readers. Cazet's illustrations are imaginative & include both droll & slapstick humor. For ages 5 to 7, beginning readers, cows, farms, & friendship themes, and those who enjoy Denys Cazet books.
I put this on my to-read list because I really liked another book by this author. This book is just okay. I don't think I will read any more Minnie and Moo books. They are a bit long for Alena and not engaging enough for me.
Even pre-readers know that it's not hat, boots, and magic words that make the tractor go. And even the most reckless child will feel tame compared to these two. Iow, they'll love it not only because it's funny, but because they can feel smart & good.
My 5-year-old laughed hysterically through this book. He even stopped me so he could take a breath at one point. I was reading in a pretty animated way like I usually do but he's never been so entertained by any other books I've read so far. I even giggled a little too. Very impressed with this author.
This is a cute, beginning chapter book about two cows, Minnie and Moo. After the farmer goes inside, the cows decide that they want to drive his tractor. After much thought, they realize that they must dress up like the farmer in order to do so, and also yell like him. The tractor starts and the two take off, but crash in a nearby pigsty, which is believed to be the moon. After being attacked by chickens, the cows start the tractor again and leave the “moon.” As soon as they get back to the farm, the farmer comes out of his house- what he finds may surprise you! This book is great for children that can already read but need the new challenge of chapter books. Several of the pages include repeated words, which makes for an easy read. In addition, the illustrations are colorful and quite funny, making it an even better read. The friendship between these two cows is also humorous and lovable, so readers get attached to their silliness very quickly.
Minnie and Moo Go to the Moon is a picturebook for 1st grade and above. This book is about two cows that want to drive a tractor. They finally figure out how to drive the tractor then makes a huge mess of everything. Chicken, pigs, mud and chicken eggs rained down all over the place. The farmer finds his tractor in the water and everything in disaray. It is really funny and was very interesting to read. It can be used to discuss the things that the two cows decided to do. It can be discussed that these cows wanted to do what the farmer did. There are many learning opportunities that can be drawn from this book. I enjoyed it and it made me laugh.
Our girls have really enjoyed the books in the Minnie and Moo series by Denys Cazet. It's a fairly typical story in the series and we are always amused by these bovine friends, especially when we can listen to them being read on a CD. The character voices are hilarious, much better than I can do. In this story, Minnie and Moo go on a joyride on the farmer's tractor and hilarious mayhem ensues.

Minnie and Moo are cows, best friends, and the drollest duo to come along since Frog and Toad. "We could do that," says Moo to Minnie, as they watch the farmer quit work and hang his hat on a nail. "Do what?" Minnie asks. "Drive that tractor," says Moo, ever the dreamer. "I have been thinking. What hoes the farmer have
Minnie and Moo come up with the bright idea of acting like the farmer for a day by dressing up like him, talking like him, and driving the tractor around the farm. After an accident at a neighboring farm, Minnie and Moo realize they may have made a mistake. Beginner readers would love this silly story that has easy text and great illustrations.
We enjoyed the CD that came with this, and the kids asked for an immediate repeat when it was over. I liked it enough to say yes. :) My favorite part was the magic words Minnie and Moo used to get the tractor started.
