First in the Thieves and Lovers Robin Hood series.
The thief... Falcon Montague had been dubbed many things in his long, immortal life...Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, murderer, hero. But never had his soul been so deeply branded by a woman. On a late-night raid, he overhears the murder plot of the mistress of Wyngate Hall, the breathtaking beauty, Lady Salena Tremayne. But after snatching her from her chambers to remove her to safety, Falcon soon finds Salena to be the thief...the thief of his heart.
The wanton... Lady Salena Tremayne has heard the rumors about the dangerous outlaw Robin Hood. Though it's said he steals from the rich to give to the poor, she isn't quite sure what her handsome captor intends to do with her. Kidnapped by the masked bandit, she finds herself woven into a web of his eroticism in which she must guard her heart with her life. But her fight, she soon discovers, may be a futile one. Wielding his erotic powers, Falcon and his cohort in crime, Little John, captivate her mind, body and soul.
Reader Advisory: This book contains M/F/M menage scenes.
I liked this new take on Robin Hood with him and Little John being immortals and spirit brothers. Salena did sometimes annoy me as she could be too stubborn and difficult at times but I can understand her refusal to want to believe that the brother she'd been so close to when they were children could hate her so much and want her dead. I loved when she finally accepted him and admitted her feelings for him! I laughed at the end when it hinted Little John's story was next as Lorcan (their mentor) had seen his intended and John was not happy about the thought of settling down at all!
Big mistake to write about a time, even if it is a fantasy/fiction story and NOT get the basics correct. Having sex horseback not even close to being believable. AND riding bareback to boot! There were other things that bothered me, that are nit picky, but if you are going to write a book with some REAL things in it, at least get the "real" stuff right. I did like the premise of the story, I just felt the author should have had better guidance on some of the stuff.
This was amateur in the extreme. Anachronisms from beginning to end, repetitive sex scenes, and a petulant "heroine" made for a painful read. Editing wasn't great either - man character's name was misspelled!
Love the twist on the Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men. The fact that Robin Hood, or as most of his inner circle know him to be, Falcon Montague, is an immortal lends a nice, unexpected wrinkle to the story.
I need to stop reading these cheesy, free romance novels. A bit to graphic for me and never consistant with the time period dialog. The title should have warned me but I'm a sucker for Robin Hood stories.
