If I hadn't seen it for myself, I'd swear it couldn't be my brother, Christian, living in a trailer park and working at a karaoke bar. We're talking about the snob who'd probably sniff the plasma packets and send 'em back in a huff if the blood type wasn't the right vintage. This is the sequel to Fangs For the Memories, part of a trilogy about vampire brother Rhys, Christian and Sebastian. This is Christian's story, whom we left at the end of the previous book very messed up and thinking he'd killed Rhys's true love Jane. As punishment he isolates himself, driving as far as he can before sunrise - which is how he ends up in Shady Forks trailer park. He's given himself a 12-step program to "being human" and has stopped drinking blood directly from humans. He hasn't really changed though, he's still haughty, superior and self-serving. Until he meets his neighbour Jolee, struggling owner of a karaoke bar.
Christian's one of those great romance heroes: he's adorable. Part of it is Love's writing style, though there's less humour here than in the previous book. He's been so out-of-touch with life in general for such a long time that he's quite clueless about a lot of things. His character is written very well, and is a perfect match for Jolee, who's strong, independent and determined without being stubborn and difficult - all too common traits among romance heroines ugh.
If there's one thing Love really excels at, it's writing chemistry and desire. This book sizzled along very nicely. Recommended.

Great vampire romance, better than the first one in the series. Christian is one of my favorite romance-novel males. He's confident and a bit bossy without doing any of that over-the-top male-dominance stuff. I didn't like Jolee that much at first, but she grew on me, and their love story was sweet and believable. It was also nice watching Christian attempt to redeem himself. I love Christian's blog and his 12-steps to becoming human program. This book was very funny at times: He definitely looked like someone who needed a fix. Especially when his shape-shifting ability failed him, and he changed from shadow into solid form with a bag of B negative hanging out of his mouth. That image totally cracked me up.

I actually read this book first, not knowing it is the second title in the trilogy (? are more books planned?!?), and I am glad I did, because I really got to love Christian. He's a hoot - sooo serious, yet the book is really funny.
Read it if you like light hearted vampire romance. Nothing too deep here - just an enjoyable read. Who could not like a vampire singing karaoke?!? (just remember, Angel started it!)

January 30, 2008This is the second book in the Young Brothers series. It was funny and I even forgot at times that the male character was a vampire. It was pretty good and a fast read. The main characters live in a trailer park and the female character owns a bar.

Novela de vampiros como podría haber sido de fontaneros, que el prota lo sea es totalmente irrelevante, no aporta nada a la historia. No ocurre gran cosa y los protagonistas no tienen una evolución, sin más se apoyan uno en el otro y tachán final feliz.

This one was so cute! I loved how much the story moved. I loved that his high stepping man was living a reclusive life in a trailer park. I love that he hated the lawn ornaments. And I like that he fell in love with a lady who challenged him! And she saved him more than once!! literally and figuratively!
I liked Rhys, but Christian was a more interesting brother/plotline. And I think ladies man Sebastian will be the BEST story!

I really enjoy these books.
Not my fav style of story but I love the characters and I find these stories to be entertained and quick reads. Looking forward to more on the Youngs..too bad the only have a couple members left...

A perfect beach read. Very happy that even though I accidentally picked up the second in a series that I didn’t need to read the first to understand it. I will definitely be reading the others if I come across them. Cute, no thoughts head empty, fun.

Guilt ridden and living in self exile, the hero keeps to himself and other than the few trips to the hospital for bagged blood and his blog, he sees no one- he speaks to no one. He's alone with his memories and his 12 step program to Being Human, which he keeps pinned to his fridge as a daily reminder. Then one night his reclusive world is shattered by a scream. No hesitating, he rushes out to stop a knife welding man who is threatening a young an beautiful woman. Suddenly he's confronted with a major problem. He's attracted to her. He's attracted to her stunning hair, to her accent, to her pretty face. But she's mortal and sex and fangs go hand in hand in his world, or at least they're suppose to. Funny how he can't seem to understand why his cock is hard but his fangs are tugged away. So, that first meeting and in fact many future meetings to come are a mess of bumbling indecision whether he should kiss her or not. The heroine is shocked by this stunning and obviously rich man living is a trailer park but knows something real bad must have happened to push him to live around her. Her, though? She's born to it. She tries to fight her upbringing and in many ways she's succeeded. She's no longer bitter about her drunk mother or her whore of a sister who put it into guys minds the girls of the family were easy. Her druggy brother keeps hanging around for money but she handles his well enough. But she can't help the fact that money is tight and that she doesn't possess even a quarter of the class and privilege the hero has. Yet she's proud and hardworking and her bar is a sense of success. Of course such a man wouldn't ever in a million years be attracted to someone like her but she never expected him to try to run her over with his sports car. Though it was an accident, she's still injured and running a bar with a bad arm isn't the smartest idea. When the hero offers to help, she turns him down at first out of stubbornness. But he pushes her and refuses to take no for an answer, until each night she looks at the door eager to see if he'll walk through it. He runs hot and cold though. One moment he's giving her come hither eyes and the next he's avoiding her like the plague. A girl can't take these games. The hero tries very very hard to not think about the heroine all the time...but she's first on his mind when he wakes up in the evening and last thing he thinks about when the sun comes up. He surrenders to the fact that no matter what she says or does, no matter how drastically different they are social, the fact of the matter is, she is everything to him. He wants to protect her, to provide for her. He wants to be the reason she smiles and to feel her skin against his every night. She makes him a better man, a stronger man. He realizes just how selfish he's been for most of his life and that the life he lived before wasn't really a life at all, not without the heroine in it. He knows he must leave. That he's no good for her, his dark past and mistakes haunt him and form a cloud over any possibility of happiness but he can't for the life of him gather the strength to go. She completes him, she gives him back his family, he'd love her forever if given the chance But first, he must tell her his largest secret and hope she doesn't think him a monster after it.
Wow I really liked this book. Yes it had a rather basic plot and yes it was hardly exiting or thrilling but I liked it none the less. The clever writing style and compelling characters were anything but boring and I was enchanted by the awkward first encounters between the characters and the discovery that both were lost in the ways of love and all the more sweet because of it. The heroine who tried so hard to be better than her family, who had so much insecurities about her appearance and her lack of money but who was kind and funny. The hero, who had nothing but 'juice' in the fridge with a magnet about being human and whose trailer is littered with infomercial products. (He gave a hair genie to the heroine on their first date because he couldn't have time to get her flowers). How sweet is that??? I really loved their dancing around this connection between them, trying to figure it out. The passion was awesome and their relationship once they settled into their life together was cute and envious. Over all I was quite pleased with this book.

Christian - 200 years of anger at his brothers, and obsession with Lilith, performing heinous acts of blood and violence to please her... until she walked into the sun, destroying herself (she wanted Christian's brother, and finally figured he wouldn't come to her)... and Christian attacked Jane with the intention of taking her from Rhys, and at the taste of her blood he could feel true love (not obsession) that she feels for his brother, and in shame he runs away - not knowing Rhys saved /turning her to vampire.
and he moves himself to Shady Folk Mobile Park for penance - he gives up taking blood from humans, and rations bags from blood banks - he's trying to follow a 12 step program to being human - and he's blogging his thoughts about being human. He can't stand the sound of the yard ornaments, he's alone, he's lost many of his preternatural powers.
and one night, he hears a scream - and sees his neighbor hiding in the grass - and someone on her steps yelling for her. He rescues her, hitting the guy - her brother - and really sees her for the first time. and is hit with an attraction... he's aware he wants her, but he doesn't want to feed from her and is puzzled - Jolee comes from white trash - and she's moved away from her family, bought a karoake bar (though they never explained where she got the money for it), and she's trying to make it work.
The next night he goes out driving in his Porsche (the only luxury he kept), trying to work out some of his tension, driving fast, and almost hit Jolee walking home -- she jumps into a ditch to get out of the way of his brakeing car - and he takes her to emergency & he pays when she can't - and he takes her home. and they share their first kiss...
and when he wakes, he follows her scent to the bar - where she is struggling with the pain in her shoulder as she reaches and carries drinks... and he just steps in to do it for her... and when the bar closes ... in the rain, and they have their second kiss... and a bit of petting on the hood of his car,.
They both are doing some soul searching - both with backgrounds that have them struggle to believe they deserve someone to love them... unwilling to trust... and Christian's actions and come before he understands his feelings - he knows he wants to be with her - he wants to help her - he wants to ease her... and he wants her... her life is so different from what he had as a mortal, and so different from what he knew as a vampire - and he works very hard to understand her, to give her what she wants... and she sees his pain, and wants to help him. Christian tells Jolee the truth about himself, keeping the pieces of being a vampire out of it... but when he tells about his brothers, he remembers he doesn't deserve to be happy - but she takes it on herself to try to reach his family, and leaves a message via the NY operator, telling them where they can find their brother, who would really like to see them...
Then her brother breaks into the bar and destroys much of it and steals her money - and Christian comes, and helps her clean it up - and she's feeling optimistic - and...
And he's going to leave, but he can't... and then in walks into the bar his brothers and Jane - and he is amazed - and relieved - and happy to be reuinted, and thankful to Jolee - there is peace -
and then he wants to tell her the full truth, and invite her to join him in eternity... he tries, but she doesn't believe him... and then during the day, her brother shows up, and in anger at the police questioninghim... and he hits her... and Christian wakes up, and goes into the sun to rescue her - chasing away her brother, and she drags him into the trailer, and he's dying, and she offers her blood, and to changed, now that she believes him and wants to save him... and his fangs extend (first time with her) - and she wakes up a vampire... and.. they...live...happily... ever...after... ahhhh

After reading the first book in this series, I couldn't help but start this straight away and I really hoped it didn't disappoint after I'd loved the first books so much. It definitely didn't disappoint.
I really didn't know how much I would like this book at first specially when finding out the story centred on Christian, whom I totally hated throughout the first book, however I found I really liked it and you see a completely different side of him.
Christian is set on changing the way he has acted for over 200 years. He feels completely guilty after all his past behaviours and swears to change his ways. Then he meets Jolee, the human woman who lived close to him and runs a bar close by. Suddenly he is drawn to her and discovers feelings he didn't know he could have. But both must overcome their past before they can even think of a future.
I really loved Christian in this and I really felt for him. I didn't see the 'evil' Christian for the first book only the Christian who wanted forgiveness but couldn't ask his family for. All the way through the book I just wanted Christian and Jolee to be together, I felt for both of them so much, they had both had so much horrible things happen to them in their lives that they couldn't control and I just wanted to see them happy. Whenever something happened that kept them apart I just wanted to read more and more so that I could get to a part where they were happy.
I cannot wait to read the next book. I am guessing it will be about the third brother Sebastian and I can't wait to discover his love story.

We see in this sequel of the Young Brothers Series, Christian, who was the evil brother bent on revenge but realised too late that all his thoughts had been perverted by Lilah, his maker. Now he is determined to make amends for the last 200 years. But how to do that? First he goes far away from his brothers to a remote part of West Virginia to a trailer park. He puts himself through his own 12 step program to become more human. His social interactions though are in the form of a blog site where he posts his progress. *Insert laugh here*
Not until he finds himself rescuing his neighbour, Jolee, does he begin to find out what it truly means to be human and to love.
Jolee has never had it easy and has never wanted for much. She worked hard and finally found a bit of happiness in being the owner of a pub with a karaoke machine. Unfortunately, her family are hell bent to take what little she has.
She meets her strange neighbour, Christian who blows hot and cold. She nearly gets whiplash from all his mood swings. Figuring that she doesn't need to have anyone else's problems she urges him to leave her alone, but Christian is determined to be there for her even if it means working in her pub.
I absolutely loved this story. Kathy Love has a wonderful ability to make such great characters and a story that you just can't put down. Her female characters are always strong and engaging. The story was touching and at times funny and other times heartbreaking, a fabulous read.

This is by far my favorite brother out of all three Young brothers. Christian is all I love in a remorseful alpha male. After his actions in the previous novel, Christian is on a self imposed exile. He turns from all that he knows and has been living his "life" as a human- besides drinking bottled blood. He has decided that the only way to atone for his sins is give up everything about being a vampire and try a new 12 step program. A sort of AA thing, but necessary changes to fit his undead status.
Everything is going fine until one night when he's writing a blog post (part of his 12 step program) when his neighbor in Shady Fork Mobile Estates is being harassed by her drug addicted brother. Christian quickly puts a stop to the man's mad scramble for more money and meets Jolee, owner and proprietor of the local bar.
Their relationship starts slowly and with more pitfalls than a yard full of groundhogs. Jolee is gun-shy after her past's horrible experiences with men and Christian has just come from one extremely long messed up relationship. If only he can reconcile wanting Jolee (a human!) with his 12 step program can everything be okay. But how do you tell a woman you're falling for that you are not only a member of a blood drinking society, but you're in self purgatory for horrendous acts you did?
As always Love's writing is playful and joyous. With HEAs all around. Cannot wait to read the next and last of the Young series; that of Elizabeth Young- little sister and werewolf.

Second in the Young brothers series features Christian, the bad guy from the previous book. Certain that he killed his brother's love he is bound and determined to change his life. He stopped drinking from humans, he is actually on a diet, and he has "12 steps to becoming human" to fulfill. The one thing he has problems with is connecting with humans. So when he hears a disturbance in the night, a woman asking for help, he interferes. From that moment on, he starts spending more time with Jolee, the woman he saved.
Jolee is working hard on changing her life. She grew up poor, and most of her siblings are either in jail, or headed there. But she wants something different in her life. Getting involved with Christian probably wouldn't be of much help.
My problem with the book is mostly Christian. The difference between the Christian from the previous book, and the one in this book is enormous, and in my case a bit too much. He went from the big bad vampire, to a one on a freaking diet, with no fangs.
His relationship with Jolee is OK, and I liked the way he treated her, but still, I wasn't impressed with him.
Jolee is better. Even though she is touchy about some things, mainly because of her childhood, she managed to work trough her issues.
And the reunion scene with his family could've been a bit more detailed, IMO it was a bit of a letdown after all of Christian's fears.

Book #2 of the Young Brother’s series. Stories encompassing the vampire brothers Rhys, Christian, and Sebastian Young.
“Fangs but no Fangs” tells the story of the middle brother Christian. Despising himself over what he did to his older brother Rhys; for the last 252 days Christian has sentenced himself to solitary confinement in a seedy trailer park. Using the vampire version of alcoholics anonymous’ 12 step program he’s trying to keep his fangs under control and become more human. The trouble is after coming to his next door neighbors aid, Jolee, he’s having a bit of trouble sticking to his plan. Kind of like setting a bottle of new Jack Daniels in front of an alcoholic and telling him not to touch the bottle. He can’t stop thinking about her and after nearly running her down with his car, he ends up working for her at the brew pub and karaoke saloon she owns.
Basically it’s a story of two people with relationship and trust issues. Jolee, a small town gal who helps get Christian mentally straightened out and reunited with his family. A feel good therapy sort of book with a moderate amount of sex. (Think Chicken Soup for the Vampire Soul – no really, I dare you….)

I liked this book more than the first in the series. It was nice to see Christian's drastic change from his "bad guy" imagine in the last book. I had to go back and reread the end of the first book, because I couldn't remember why Christian thought he'd killed Jane. After I got that refresher, it made much more sense.
The only thing that really bothered me is that Jolee went on and on about how unfairly she'd been labeled as "easy" back in high school, based on her family's reputation. But every chance she gets, she's getting her groove on with Christian in a public place. And then to top it off, she has the gall to moan again about others' perception of her each time they're caught. I mean, duh. It makes no sense. And I'm not being sexist at all. Christian is every bit to blame as much as Jolee, but at least he doesn't act like he can't understand why people think badly of him for it. Once they finally get their hormones under control, the book gets much better, though. I actually really enjoyed the plot. I loved Jed's character, and I hate that he probably won't be in the other books, since he was employed by Jolee. He added some nice humor in there.

Christian is on a self imposed exile. He turns from all that he knows and has been living his "life" as a human- besides drinking bottled blood. He has decided that the only way to atone for his sins is give up everything about being a vampire and try a new 12 step program. A sort of AA thing, but he makes necessary changes to fit his undead state. He is living in a run down trailer park. Following the 12-step program has decreased his vampire senses.
He rescues his neighbor, Jolee, from her brother, Vance. Vance demanded money, and when Jolee refused to give him money for drugs he pulls a knife on her. Christian hears the ruckus and subdues Vance, and gets cut. Jolee patches him up.
Christian fights his attraction to Jolee, the mortal/vampire thing is not something he wants to get into. His past does not promote that life style, mortals' blood was for survival and his given that up.
I like the story the give and take between them, the complications of her business, and her families interference.

The premise: Vampire Christian Young, having killed his brother's human lover, repents by "becoming human". He has denounced (most) of his wealth, moved into a trailer park for isolation and subsists on only a few ounces of packaged blood a day. He meets Jolee outside his trailer as she tries to escape from a violent visitor, and becomes her champion.
Miscellaneous notes: I thought this was a novel about a vampire. Well, yes, it is, but you'd never know it. Jolee doesn't know until the very end that he's a vampire, and accepts this new awfully quickly.
But the most irritating part of this romance is that Christian cannot believe that he has an attraction for a human, and therefore repeatedly tells himself that he is simply craving her blood. This, in itself is certainly understandable, but why does Ms. Love have to mention it over and over again? It started to irritate me and make me dislike Christian.
In the end, this was a mediocre romance that didn't inspire me much.

This was book two in the Young Brothers Series; I had several issues with the first book, and was hoping this one could turn it around for me. In some ways it did and in others it didn't. I enjoyed Christian greatly, with his 12 step how to me a human, and his true humbleness. It was a fresh face to vampires, at least to me because he wasn't the cocky, you do as I say. He was sweet, and broken, and needed to mend and you saw him do so. I liked the love story enough, and was very happy to see Jolee was more put off by the vampire thing than Jane had been. I'm sorry no person in my mind would be like oh wow that so makes sense. However I could never find a way to connect to Jolee, and it's not because I didn't like her. I really did like her but she just didn't have anything for me to be like okay I get you. I liked this book enough to get number 3... So we will see if baby brother will have heroine that I can connect with.

The "evil" brother (Christian) is somewhat in hiding in a tiny town in West Virginia. He meets a sweet but troubled mortal (troubled because of her family's past), and they quickly become friends. He helps her in her karaoke bar, while he tries to "woo" her. Despite his attracttion to the human he realizes his attempts will be futile considering he's a vampire (and not a very good one, since some of his vampire traits have gone missing - you know, like fangs!) haha! Fangs But No Fangs...get it? LOL!

Okay. I loved Christian and Jolee’s story. What’s not to love….a trailer park, a 12-step program and karaoke?
I think that this novel start up around 9-12 months after the first novel finished and we see Christian living in a trailer park and writing a blog about ‘Being Human’.
I am so glad that he was different from the first novel and Kathy Love explained the reason for his change; which was great.
I loved the fact that a vampire used to the high life is living in a small town trailer park trying not to be noticed. He’s also punishing himself for taking Jane’s life.
Jolee was awesome, independent, sassy and a great singer. Thinking about her now I just loved her character.
It all ends with Christian and Jolee’s “happily ever after”.

Like this one better then the first book, but still not much action. If you want action, this may not be the series for you, but if you like a good romance & falling for each other type then this is it. Funny, cute, and easy read. Good twist in the end with Vance. This book is about Christian & Jolee. He fled and ended up in a trailer park in W. Virginia. She just purchased a bar there, & is his neighbor in the trailer park. He saves her then is rude, but can't stop thinking about her, then he almost runs her over. He takes care of her and eventually they admit their feelings for each other. Eventually his brothers end up there and then she gets attacked again and he saves her and turns her. Sweet ending. Look forward to Sebastien's book.

This was only the third paranormal book that I have read. I am not so much into vampires and stuff. But I have to say that I loved this book. I could not put it down. Yes, there is steamy sex and vampires, etc, but it was the characters and the story that were so compelling. I suppose that the story transcends the genre.
Two people meet and are attracted to each other. Both of them have run away from their pasts. They are lonely and vulnerable. As the characters evolved, I found myself deeply committed to their relationship...... this was probably one of the best books I have read in, oh, the last month or so :)

The heroine of this romance novel is your typical green-eyed, red haired beauty, but she lives in a trailer park, runs a bar, and cannot afford to replace her flip-flops with real shoes, even when invited out to a swanky business dinner. Her vampire mate, a once dashing international playboy, lives in the same trailer park and torments himself for a terrible mistake he's made. He writes self improvement lists and posts them with magnets onto his blood-bag filled refrigerator. There are plenty of hot sex scenes. In short, this is one of my favorite romance novels on account of its misfit heroes.

After reading the first one thins one a better then the first, but this one is about the second oldest brother that is going through AA, but for vampireism where he has to change the way he lives and fight temptation of being the bad Christian with after a year after trying to kill his brothers mate he has to stay and keep clean until he meets his neighbor Jolee in the trailer park he downgraded to. Christian and Jolee help keep Christian on the right path and help him find his humanity and love.

I actually read this book first, not knowing it is the second title in the trilogy (? are more books planned?!?), and I am glad I did, because I really got to love Christian. He's a hoot - sooo serious, yet the book is really funny.
Read it if you like light hearted vampire romance. Nothing too deep here - just an enjoyable read. Who could not like a vampire singing karaoke?!? (just remember, Angel started it!)

I found my new favorite series!!!
I love Christian and I love the rest of the Young brothers!!! Especially when the brothers turn up after Jolee calls them and tells them where their brother is and instead of you bastard you tried to kill my 'Jane'!!! There was hugs all round and it made me draw tears.
Hot, sexy, funny, endearing!! I can't wait for the next book!!
Sebastian's turn!!! hehehehehe!!! It's gonna be a blast!!!
