Daily life continues with yokai cats and their owners! What is it like to have a cat that loves to wash beans, or one with a tail like a mermaid? How about one that eats people’s dreams? Find out in volume four!
This silly book is good medicine for people who are way too serious. It takes a special kind of stupid to enjoy this book. (Luckily, I am that kind of stupid.) And a good imagination. I smile when I think about it.
A collection of comics featuring pet cats with various mythical attributes.
I like that this collection added some new types of yokai cats (the friendly ghost cat who lives at an inn was my favorite of the new ones...though the one in the shell, the island cat, and the one that exudes cold when offended were fun too).
Notes on content: Language: None Sexual content: None Violence: None Ethnic diversity: the people in the comic appear to be Japanese mostly GBLTQ+ content: None Other: As mentioned, one yokai cat is ghostly, but it is a very friendly ghost and not spooky at all
Volume 4 keeps the fun and energy going much like the previous 3 chapters. These short stories are fun and while I wouldn't say it feels much different from the previous volumes I will say it keeps the same energy and keeps you churning and page turning. My favorite cats part of this volume is Nekomata's. The art style perfectly blends with the way the panels are written. It won't take you long to digest this volume.
The yokai cats are back with more situations of how they are unique cats. We meet a few new cats, who are just as cute as the others. I enjoy the simplicity of the layout, which seems to lend itself to the cats.
Some of the cutest stuff i've ever read, good fun that doesn't require much brainpower to read. A nice palate cleanser after reading some intense (dark) fiction.
I feel like this volume struck a better balance than the last one: no excessive focus on just one or two yokai cats, plus more new yokai cats and more comics featuring yokai cats that had been given less attention previously. The comics remain cute, and manage to avoid being too repetitive.
