If you are a novice pizza baker, this book may be for you. Basically it is divided by the style of crust and then recipes for the crust and toppings are provided. This results in a lot of repetition as basic cheese, tomatoes, and basil instructions are repeated multiple times with little variation. Each recipe takes a full page, two if a photo of it is included, when the variations are often very simple and do not require a complete repetition of the technique. Some unique varieties are included but most as simple variations on common place ingredients like cheese, tomatoes, and salami. If like me you are looking for inspiration and new ideas, borrow this book from the library.

This book delves into different ways to make pizza at home. In each chapter there is a unique pizza dough and pizza sauce for the type of pizza being highlighted. The book explores Neapolitan-style pizza, New York-style pizza, Chicago-style deep dish pizza, California-style pizza, Grilled Pizza, "Kid friendly" pizza (I did not the recipes in this chapter to be especially kid friendly, but Gavin and I enjoyed them), and Dessert Pizza.

We enjoy making homemade pizza. My brother & SIL lent us this book of theirs, since they know we make pizza so often. I made 36 of the recipes in this book. Twenty three were good, 13 were so-so, and we did not discover a bad recipe at all. Several of the recipes I have referred to more than once, especially the NY and West Coast Pizza Sauces, which are easy to make and nice to have on-hand for just our regular pizza nights. The pizza dough recipes are also very good if I want to take the time to make my own dough (instead of buying it from the local pizza place at 4pm the night of dinner). This is a book I would definitely want to keep in my cookbook resources.
