Live extra lean. Transform your body for life. And never feel bad about food again.
As one of today's most beloved personalities on TV and hailed by People as the country's hottest bachelor, Mario Lopez is arguably known as much for his glowing personality as he is for his rock-hard abs. In his first diet book, Extra Lean , Lopez imparts his fool-proof plan for permanent weight loss while eliminating the guilt from enjoying the foods you love. The Extra Lean plan trains your body to constantly burn fat by following three simple 1) Balance your daily intake of carbs, protein and fat 2) Practice proper portion control and 3) Eat frequently throughout the day.
Along with health physiologist and personal trainer, Jimmy Peña, and renowned nutritionist, Dana Angelo White, Mario clearly identifies optimal combinations of daily nutrients, transformative eating habits and invigorating mental conditioning tools that will truly redefine your approach to food. By following this plan, your metabolism will become a fat-burning machine allowing you to splurge on special days, weekends or vacations with little to no effect on the scale.
With over 40 delicious and easy-to-follow recipes and a seven-week meal plan, Extra Lean is the complete program to change your body and the way you eat for life.
I like his take on learning to eat healthy by balancing what you eat, not cutting anything completely. Also I love the fact that it includes full meal plans and weekly shopping lists. I'll have to let you know if I really do lose weight, and if I can stick to it. So far, looks doable.
I am on week 7 and even though I haven't stuck to the meal plans exactly I have lost 12 pounds! Lost the first 7 in the first two weeks the other 5 over the next 4 weeks. What is really cool is that one of those weeks I was not following it at all and I didn't gain.
Extra Lean by Mario Lopez - 4 stars I've read nearly 10 'how to eat right' books this year. This one stands out because of the quick reference lists, snack ideas, and other easy to incorporate into your daily routine fat-burning ideas. Great book for my extended cookbook/how to eat better bookcase.
This book was much like the Trim Healthy Mama plan, just with simpler terminology. Basically, do not eat carbs with fats and eat multiple times thru the day.
This book has plenty of recipes for what your food intake should look like at about 1200 calories a day. There is nutritionist involved and they balance carbs, fats, and proteins. The idea to allow for snacks not to let yourself get too hungry was also good.
Decent book on healthy eating. It contains complete daily meal plans, and focuses on balancing carbs, proteins, and fats. Right now, I'm trying to minimize carbs, so I was only able to pluck a few recipes out of this collection for immediate use.
I just like, don’t even have words to describe how problematic this book is. I was SO HUNGRY when I tried this plan and felt so incredibly guilty when I had to make larger serving sizes or add more to the snacks to get me through the day. This book is like the pinnacle of dangerous diet culture.
