Bart Simpson stars in yet another one of his awesome novels! In this book, Bart, must make a movie, is signed for a secret assignment, Milhouse and Martin experience what it feels like without Bart, and many, many more 'big bouncy' stories! This novel literally took me no time at all to read - the book had drawn every iota of my attention to it!
The vibe of Big Bouncy Book Of Bart Simpson was completely off for me at first, like a joke that everybody else got. Then Matt Groening lets one character, a crabby old lighthouse keeper, take over the story, and it's like someone flipped a switch. The scene where he refuses to leave during a storm is oddly moving. It's a lot of talk and not a lot of action. For readers who like cranky characters with hidden soft spots. Skip it if you need the pace to move.
Kept me hooked in one sitting, and I'll be honest, I didn't see the ending coming. Big Bouncy Book Of Bart Simpson sets small traps early, and Matt Groening springs them with a perfectly straight face. A couple of side characters are cardboard. Great for twist lovers, skip if you hate being fooled.
This was my first Simpsons comic ever!! I bought this at the newsagent at the six ways in 2011 (I think) and I read it so many times. Forever my favourite
While still entertaining, this is the weakest of the 4 or so Simpsons graphic novels I've read. I've come to expect more then this from one. The storylines are weak and unexciting compared to, say, Dollars To Donuts.
