This is better than Robin of Sherwood, probably due to the different author: Robin May makes this work as a novel in its own right, rather than relying on people remembering the TV series. There are also some decent stories in here, so Richard Carpenter deserves credit for them.

Unfortunately, this could have done with a bit more proofreading. For instance, here's a quote from page 143: "the outlaws erupted into the barn, Little John and Nasir grabbing Robin and Lilith being seized by Edward and Nasir." So, Nasir was apparently in two places at once! Still, if that's the worst problem with the book then it's not doing too badly.

I was a big fan of the Robin of Sherwood television series, and had stumbled across this book, and promptly forgot that I had it. So, when I stumbled across it again, on a bookshelf, I thought to myself, "I wonder why I never got around to reading that," and proceeded to read the short book.
The book consists of retellings of episodes from the second season of the show, but done very oddly. It's almost as if there was a rush to limit the number of pages. If you haven't seen the shows, this version won't be very entertaining. If you have, they are a decent reminder of what went on. Weirdly, though, only the final chapters are what I would call good writing. The rest were very predictable, very "let's summarize rather than tell" in a few too many places. Still, the ending chapters were as moving as the ending episodes of that season, and redeemed the book by quite a bit.

I've loved Robin Hood since I was a little girl and he was probably one of my first heroes, along with Superman. The tv show was my first interaction with Robin, Marian and the merry men and decades later I've still had that same love. This is one in a series of books written at the time of The Robin of Sherwood tv series and I loved every monent! I could never give it less than five stars, as it catapulted me back to that time as a little girl when I first came met the heroes and villians of Nottingham and Sherwoood forest 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️

This was a well-written book consisting of several short stories based on episodes of the TV series. Robin of Sherwood is one of my all-time favourite TV series, and although I will, in truth, read much better books this year, I will probably not enjoy any as much as this one. To be honest, this is why I gave it five stars; I was never going to give it anything less. It is still well-written and easy to read. Curiously, each story hasn’t a title; they simply begin with the next chapter, not that it matters. The stories themselves are quite varied, with the last one being quite moving. This was a pure nostalgia read for me, and I look forward to reading the others in the series. As you would expect, this book is highly recommended for fans, like me, of the wonderful TV series.

the short stories were good but many left on cliff hangers that weren't resolved in the book, there were characters that were brought in but their storylines didn't finish before the next short story started. Have many unanswered questions.

I guess I should have expected this when I got it. Instead of proving to be a fun adventuresome book it was basically a narrative retelling of what happened in the second season of "Robin Of Sherwood". Personally I found the narrative rather bland and even though I love the episodes themselves the retelling of every single detail was annoying and made it rather boring when I realized I knew what was going to happen next.

My advice is to just watch the show because you get a lot more emotion out of watching the characters do this than reading about what happened in the episode. If these were separate stories or adventures that were different from the episodes I might have enjoyed it a bit more. As it is though, the most enjoyable moments for me were seeing how many exclamation points were on a single page.

A new author takes the helm in the novelization of the series and does a really good job of bringing the action to life on the page. Of course if you have seen the series it makes it more vivid and easy to recall the visuals. For me its always been good to read and dip into every now and then.
