This was okay. The Kaname and Yuki plotline expanded (). Yeah, it still eeks me out too. Things are going places and this volume was much more action-packed than previous volumes were. I have a few more volumes to go. We'll see how I feel about this manga by the end.

In volume 13 we get to learn more about Kaname. And some stuff was pretty scary, he is more complicated than you can imagine. And Kaname with long hair isn't a pretty sight. There wasn't much on Zero but we do find out that he still loves Yuki. We get to learn about the history for vampires as well, especially the first vampire hunter. Its really interesting.

I was Team Kaname and Yuki.

But Damn does Zero deserver her more. And he aint going to kill her. He loves her too much to do that.

Volume 13 of Vampire Knight is the most confusing volume to date. I had to read it twice to even begin to understand it. By the end of my second go round, I was quite fond of the story and the characters.

We learn a lot more about Kaname in this volume. He shares his memories with Yuki and she essentially lives his past. I am not the rabid Team Kaname fan that I was at the beginning of the series, but I don't hate him either. This volume shows that he is a much more complicated character than I realized. It was nice to see him doing something other than trying to clip Yuki's wings. Plus, he has had a very sad and lonely life.

The themes of this volume appear to be loneliness and loss. Because that's what you see with Zero as well as Kaname. Zero visits his brother's grave for the first time. He's despondent over the loss of his brother and is also worried that he will lose every shred of his humanity.

Turns out Zero was in the right place at the right time - Yuki and Aido happen to be in the same cemetery and run into a dangerous vampire who attacks Yuki. Zero saves Yuki's life. There are no romantic moments between them, but there are some great passionate drawings showcasing the chemistry between the characters.

The only light moments in this volume (and in the series in general) comes from Aido. Even in serious moments, it's hard to take Aido seriously. He's a loyal lapdog for whom things never go quite right. It's nice to have a bit of levity.

I'm curious to see where the next volume takes us. While I like the sophistication of the series, I wish Hino could structure it so that it was easier to comprehend.

This volume has some of the best back story of the whole series! Did you ever want to learn more about Kaname and his past. This is the volume to do so. Just be sure to have read all previous volumes first. This series can be confusing enough without knowing everything else that has already happened and this volume is no exception.

My heart goes out to Kaname on this one. What a sad past he has. Yuki gets to 'experience' it through him in order to better understand him. It is a good thing too. His controlling behaviors as of late have not been doing either of them much good.

And there is still Zero. He seems to have lost everything that ever mattered to him but instead of accepting Yuki as she now is he continues pushing her away. So lots of angst in this volume from our three lead characters.

This volume was a nice change of pace. Although the depressing tones can be overwhelming at times, it was nice to get my head out of the main plot chaos for part of the book.

Well, that was interesting.

I'll be honest, if I didn't have the next two books sitting on my TBR shelf at the moment I would stop this series. The twist this book took with the series hurt my brain and kind of ruined the rest of the series for me. Was there actual hints towards what was going to happen? Because I haven't noticed anything...

The illustrations are still wonderful, but I wanted more Zero and less of a confusing storyline. This story is just dragging on and on and on...

Three out of five stars.

I'm not even sure what I just read.

My eyes are rolling so hard though. I'm sure that ending the incest wasn't really in the plan but she just had so much back lash from fans she decided to cut it out.

I hate Kaname. And Yuki. Zero can only take me so far before I put this series down.

Welllll....excuse the following rant...

What the hell's wrong with Yuki?! "I'll accept any punisment"?! Is this BDSM or something? I like Kaname, but he and Yuki are in what I'd describe as an unhealthy, abusive relationship. Personally, I wouldn't have just sat (lied) there and taken it! I would've kicked Kaname's 10,000 year old balls up his bloodsucking throat!

Yuki's been pissing the hell out of me lately...

As for Zero and Kaname, I continually to feel for them equally. I cried for them both in this volume. Hino is an expert on rendering readers nearly incapable of truly disliking either of the two heroes.

(Oh, and it was hilarious when Zero had to carry Aido into the hunter's safehouse. I adore Aido, I really do).

Loved the shorts at the end. Overall a good volume, but I've read better in this series. Here's hoping vol. 14 picks up the slack. And here's hoping Yuki grows a pair...

Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino

Volume 13 in the Vampire Knight series

5 stars

Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. The catch is the Night Class are vampires. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, protecting the Day Class from the Academy’s dark secret. I hadn’t picked up a manga in a year or over a year I’m not sure, but I decided to go out and buy a couple to review and all that. Mangas only take me a day to read and I flew through this book and its beautiful art. I love the Vampire Knight series. It’s my favorite manga/anime series and I am a huge fan (but not obsessive). The art never fails to make me squeal with joy and they storyline is engrossing and I just don’t want it to end. The characters are always facing some dilemma and I love them all, but my favorite is Kaname and I’m sure he’ll always be my favorite. I can’t wait to read the next volume.

Things got a little strange and hard to follow again in this volume. I find the illustrations to be messy sometimes making it hard to follow what is going on, the storyline also seemed to get a little complicated too.
I am hoping the next volume gets better again.

I get that a character can't know something until it's told, but the reader was already told most of the story shared in this volume... Made for a very quick read on a very crowded bus.

Man I don't even know like
Maybe it's the translator?
Maybe it's the fact that I need to re-visit this series?
Maybe it's just as obvious as me wanting to punch Kaname in the god dam dick.
I DON'T GET HOW ONE MINUTE YUKI CAN BE THIS LIKABLE HEROINE WHO CLEARLY HAS A FLESHED OUT PERSONALITY, LOOKS OUT FOR OTHERS, KICKS LIKE ALL KINDS OF ASS- AND THEN
OH MY GOD KANAME SAMA
NO GO RIGHT AHEAD, RIDICULE ME AND MAKE ME YOUR SLAVE AND CLAIM OWNERSHIP OVER ME.
Listen kids, that's fine in you're in a healthy bdsm relationship. That's your choice! It's completely normal and good for you.
This isn't.
Hino's art style is great, and her comedic delivery is a god send. I just miss the old days, and OH I DON'T KNOW...ACTUALLY KNOWING WHAT THE FUCK WAS GOING ON.
I JUST
WANT TO PUNCH KANAME
SO HARD
(but love his familiar forever and ever)
(ps, also, I like how Hino represent's Kaname in her mini comics at the end of the novel. His dry humor is appreciated, and he's a hundred times better than she's writing him right now)
siiiigh
(pps, guess i'm counting manga on my reading challenge this time around)

Vampire Knight, Vol.13 is the continued story of a young vampire named Yuki Cross. In this edition, she goes off to visit a cemetery where events occur and returns home to have an in depth conversation with Kuname Kuran. There's more to the story but it seems to be setting up the future episodes. It is a pretty good read and the artwork is interesting.

This series is turning into a major drag and that's a bummer since the beginning was so good. :/ This is just the tale of Kaname's true connection to the Kuran family. Which was interesting but so stupid after the "I'm your brother" crap. And Zero kidnaps Aido for the Hunters and tells him how the rift between hunters and vampire formed. Yawn with this origin story BS! Give me action, dammit!

In which everyone is scared of Zero, and Yuki almost jumps him sucks his blood in public.

Also we get some more Kaname backstory, and some more backstory about the hunters, which is actually kind of interesting. But mostly I am all about the Yuki/Zero.

I watched and loved the Anime version of this. It also landed on my favorites.

For now, I got no plans for buying a copy.
