When a dangerous foe turns the tables on the clan, complicating the Kra-ell rescue operation in unforeseeable ways, Kian and his crew bet all on a brilliant misdirection.
On board the Aurora, Phinas and Jade brace for battle while enjoying a few stolen moments of passion.
Drawn to the woman he sees behind the aloof leader, Phinas realizes that what has started as a calculated political move has evolved into a deepening sense of companionship.
Jade finds reprieve in Phinas’s arms, but duty and tradition make it difficult for her to accept that what she feels for him is more than just gratitude and desire.
This series is getting more and more interesting and there is material to write a thousand more books.
At the beginner of the series it was only immortals and their survival in the fight for the advancement of humanity against the Doomers. Then in the possibility of finding dormants. New and interesting abilities found in the many people added to the clan. Gods, demigods, kra-ell, the home planet and more and more.
What I'm not liking is Kiam. Since the beginning of the series he is the absolute and capable leader that the American part of the clan has had. Several books ago I noticed that he increasingly needed Turner to make decisions. I fully understand that Turner has more military knowledge than Kiam, but I perceive Kiam as weakened, less sure of what decisions he should make.
In a few books back, it was mentioned in passing that the sons of Annani, the "Clan Mother", ruled without being chosen by the immortals because they were royalty. I imagine that most likely we will have something of this later.
What I am impatiently waiting for is to know what Igor will bring to the overall story and how the gods, immortals and kra-ell will coexist in the future.
This is the second book in the Dark Alliance trilogy where we see Jade and Phinas get closer as well as learn more about the escape. Although this book answered a lot of questions from the first Dark Alliance book, there are still so many questions left to be answered in the 3rd book!! Looking forward to seeing how Igor and his team react as well as wondering if the Kra-ell and their humans will learn about the Clan at the end of this rescue mission.
There was so much to skip in this book. The back and forth with Jade’s confusion about her feeling and her traditions. At one point the author would write it as though she’d made up her mind that her and Phinas was a couple and in the next, Phinas was a pan and in the next she wanted only him and couldn’t stand being away from him and in the next…. Well, you get it. Completely annoying. These are not teenagers and most times, the character is hundreds of years old, but she had them flip flop emotions like they are bipolar! Like come on!
Then there was the constant strategic planning that sucked. If you’re not good at it, don’t try to do it! Some of the plans had so many holes that someone else in the room should have pointed them out immediately instead of it taking hours or something else for them to realize it. The trackers for example… when it was first mentioned, I assumed they were going to put them in the animals, but all along they were planning to put them in the guardians for the decoy. First issue with that is they didn’t know whether the immortal bodies would push the trackers out, like it does everything else. It was possible that they could stay in since they were in the purebloods and it was alien tech from their home planet, but they didn’t know for sure and didn’t have it tested in the meanwhile. The author does that a lot, when she has them make a plan, she forgets that there are possible limitations to the plan that have been detailed to readers in previous books. But anyway, there was so much of that considering the number of heads that were brainstorming solutions. I’m glad that she actually acknowledged Turner wing flawed finally because there have been a number of times he plans had flaws that the author didn’t acknowledge. So yeah, I advise no more detailed strategic planning to be wrote out because the author doesn’t have it…
Then there’s Kian, whose supposed to be on top of ideas for his people. The humans from the compound would be an excellent solution to their problem of human workers in the village. He could compensate them and all that and they already know about aliens and could be compelled to keep their existence a secret as well. As far as the kra-ell, the mountain would be big enough for them to keep goats sheep and chicken and farming or whatever and the humans would probably continue to tend to them. It’s not a big issue that he is making it to be unnecessarily.
Anyway, see my notes and highlights on Goodreads. I’m finally getting to the last book for now and since they’ve just caught up to Igor, I’m sure it won’t provide closure for me and I won’t know what happens after that because the series writing got worse instead of better and the books lost their edge for me. Happy reading!
Dark Alliance Turbulent Waters – All Floaty and Stuff.
These turbulent waters reach far and wide. The boat full of inexperienced dog-paddlers sways. The village on high alert is taking in buckets of stress. Jade and Phinas physically drift apart just when their tide of emotion comes in. Igor isn’t just chasing waves, he’s making them. And is Kalugal going to help Kian and his guardians tread through these dangerous waters, or capsize the mission? Hold onto your life vests and float on your backs - I'm sure these survivors and heroes will make it to shore for a round of snake venom and espressos. Maybe...
Buried treasures abound in this episode. I don’t want to tip your canoe and spoil the ride for you, but so many floaty feelings buoyed my dopamine throughout this book. Like the sweet smell of bromance, romance, and...arousal? What?!
If you’ve been cruising along with this entire saga of 69 books (and counting), you’re going to love this sea liner, too. If you’re just now attempting to stow away…walk the plank! Just kidding. But you’ll enjoy the itinerary much better if you start at the beginning of this journey (Dark Stanger The Dream). Dark Alliance Turbulent Waters covers many characters that were introduced in prior books. All of us “seasoned travelers” got to know (read: fell in love with) this crew from WAY BACK yonder. Worth it!
Bon Voyage!

Dark Alliance Turbulent Waters KU 300 pgs ***.* Phinas & Jade
3.5 stars. A little boring actually. I did like some of the war planning but there was so much it because monotonous and I skimmed. I am beginning to like Jade, Phinas is showing her what her people missed by staying with the Kra-ell ways and not exploring other cultures and how people develop relationships, co-exist with each other peacefully, etc. They are on the cruise ship now, in this book, and very much on the look out for Igor or anything/anyone trailing or tracking them. The group at home, Kian, Kalugal, and the rest are plotting and planning non stop on situations that could arise while the others are all out at sea. The flow is slow because the story hops from one person to the next and you have to stop and adjust your brain back to that persons story. I do think it is better than Phinas / Jade’s first book though. The very ending was exciting and I am looking forward to the next adventure with Jade and Phinas
We have been building to this for awhile and I was terrified it would be “to be continued” to know if we get Igor or not but it has a perfect ending, great job Lucas!
All the if this then that descriptions when planning the attack were a bit too much for a PNR but it was easy enough to skim that if you’d like so no foul.
The only other problem I had with this one is that I didn’t really find Jade and Phinas a steamy couple. This book isn’t really about that it’s about developing the story line, which is perfectly fine because I don’t think Jade is that type of character anyways… I don’t know if I’d find the spicy scenes with her hit no matter what.
I could have really used a Kian and Sissy scene somewhere in the middle (maybe in the war room).
As I always say… This series is a must read if you haven’t read it pickup book 1 immediately!
I have enjoyed every book in this series with the exception of book 68 and 69. The stories did not have the same type of 'flow' as the others when introducing the new characters and their stories did not unfold in a way that kept me intrigued like the other books in this series. It felt like certain aspects of the story were over explained. If certain information is needed for the story down the line in the series, then it is okay, but at times it felt like reading 'word soup'. I am so invested in this series that I powered through book 68 hoping book 69 would be better, which it was but not back to the level of enjoyment as the other books in the series. At book 70, I am too invested to not finish so I am moving full speed ahead to finish the series. 👍
I started reading this Series on a friends recommendation I’m now 69 books in and await each release with so much anticipation which is always satisfied. The books are so well written with each trio covering 2 main characters and their story but each book also progresses the main plot running through them all. Not an easy thing to to do but one that the author does spectacularly well. Would I recommend this book definitely yes but I would recommend starting at book 1 even more and allowing yourself to be transported into the lives and loves of the Children of the Gods.
I am not going to give away anything. That being said, please do yourself a favor and read this entire series. It's plausible, possible, and absolutely unput down able! Is that even a word. The Fates are very busy with the Children of the Gods. But are they God's or aliens. You decide. From book one until the end of the series, you will be kept on the edge of your seat. I strongly recommend this series and this author, I. T. Lucas. Bravo and looking forward to book 70!
Characters varied and believable. I truly appreciate the author's time and energy she puts into each book and doesn't get the opportunity to hold out and make the now three divisions of a themed story into one book anymore. But I lose a lot waiting for the installments and had to reread book 67 to remember what was going on and who the characters are. After this one I am going to have to just start waiting for all three and read them together! But that being my only complaint this series is the best I have ever read!

The book count for this series may seem daunting since this is the 69th book, thankfully the way IT Lucas organizes the series is by having the books are set in 3-4 books in a mini-series that revolves around a main couple. There are often side characters & couples that you will see develop along side the main couple. The series does have an overarching storyline that continues through all the books so it is best to read them in order. These books are also told from the POV of multiple individuals, even many of the side characters or members of previous highlighted coupled. Each chapter clearly identifies who is telling their story so it is easy to follow.
This is the second book for Phinas & Jade, and is it getting good. I still have so many questions, but we are getting some answers. I can’t wait to see where it will go next.
I have loved ALL of the books in this series and this one did not disappoint. I am amazed that this author has been able to keep me engaged through 69 books in the same series. Most authors have a difficult time holding my attention for more than 3 books. Every one of these books has a fresh new twist with some new characters and some old. If you aren't reading this series, you're missing out!
Blah…. Not my favorite part of this series. Phinas and Jade have a lot of potential and I was super stoked about big bad Igor but there was so much filler conversation between certain characters and no mention of others. And so far Igor doesn’t seem that scary. I kind of feel like the build up was more than the actual confrontation all in the final chapters of the book. I am a loyal series reader but I would like it to move along just a bit quicker.

Unless you are into reading about naval warfare plans, don’t bother with this book. I’ve really enjoyed reading the series until now but with this book, all I can say is ,”what were you thinking?”
Most women who read the romance genre are not interested in war and planning for war.
So, unless that’s your thing, just skip to the next book in the series. I haven’t read it but it can’t be any worse than this book.
It baffles me the creativity and longevity of this series, it's still going very strong, it's still unique and spellbinding, characters are rich and deep and thebplot continues to develop. I cannot get enough and can't wait to see the completion of Phinas and Jade's romance
The book is fabulous, as usual. There is romance but it is over shadowed by the planning & action. Many tactical strategies & plans are presented and debated, at length. I skipped a bit & ten went back & read it all. Its just so enthralling. Anyway, can't wait for the next book......again. 😵😵😵
The growing relationship between Phinas and Jaden was interesting because they're different species. As Jade struggled with her attraction to Phinas. I gave the book three stars because it took too long to get to Igor's capture. Also Jaden has wait five days to finally confront him. Looking forward to that encounter in Book 70.
Dark Alliance Turbulent Waters, book 69 of I.T. Lucas Children Of the Gods series brings the immortals and Kra-ell closer together. With the goal of capturing Igor, they set out to find away to end has reign. The twist and turns placed in their path will keep everyone guessing. I can't wait to see how everything comes together. This series gets deeper with each new character.
I liked everything about this book! From start to finish it kept me entertained and looking forward to what would happen next! I even made myself stop reading it from time to time just so I wouldn't get finished too soon, because I know the next one isn't ready yet! And I still got finished too soon!
80% of this book is talking. And not about relationships. It is sitting in a war room discussing what the enemy is going to do. It could not get more boring. The only action is right t the end, and predictably enough that is when the book cuts off. The love match for Jade is pure afterthought. Almost couldn't finish it.
I’m so excited and anxious for the next installment! Who is Igor? Why is he so powerful! No matter how many books there are this continues to be the absolute BEST series ever! I recommend it us well written, excellent storytelling, intelligent, and so creative! Get a copy and read on!
Lots of action in this book. Finally, the villain is captured! Now, what to do with a threat like him. I am among those who feel that there will be no getting information out of someone who can compel everyone. It is too risky, just let Jade kill him as she wants to. Lots of changes and more to come!
This book kept me spellbound. This series keeps getting better and better with all the twists and turns in the story plot along with the addition of new characters! I recommend this series to everyone! It does not disappoint! I am excited for the next book!
I. T. Lucas has done it again! The perfect book to continue the series with. Action, adventure and (dare I say it...) love. This book shows us all that we are not everything we thought we were. Sometimes our mind and heart have a will of their own. Jump into the world of The Children of the Gods and strap in...its a bumpy but wonderful ride!!!
Wow so riverting to read this series. Never dissapointed with each book. There's love, hardship, violence the charactors from book 1 till now wonderful seeing them grow so part of my life too. I am able to visualize feel part of each book. I tried so hard to hold off reading book 69 so i could read 70 straight away.
The continuing saga of the Children of the Gods weaves a unusual pattern. Not only are these children in constant danger but they are also expanding their ranks through affiliation with others paranormal peoples. The dangers and actions taken are calculated under the guise of shrouding to minimize the oversight of others.
I started to take rest time because I couldn't wait for bedtime to read. This series is not a waste of time or a waste of money. The characters each bring you into the secret clan community and keep you wanting to read to find out what is happening... I highly recommend this series and anything written by this author.
I will say if you haven't started this series, its a must! This series is addictive and once you start you will be excited to pick up the next book. This series is a must to read in order, as each book leads into the next. The storyline never gets boring, and new allies are coming from unexpected places.
