Betty Crockers Slow Cooker Cookbook gives all kinds of tips to using a slow cooker as well as ways to adapt one’s favorite recipes into slow cooker recipes. This is found in the beginning of the cookbook. It also covers topics such as vegetables, meaty recipes including ones for beef, lamb, and bacon, Poultry recipes cover various recipes in this category. There are even dessert recipes for the slow cooker. Information on which size of slow cooker to use is also available which I found very useful. The photography is stunning and gives the person making a certain recipe how it should appear when finished - not that mine ever do! 🙃 Personally, I love my slow cooker, and I am always looking for more ways to use it. Organization is important. Maybe, that is where I need work! 😉 4 stars.
Excellent slow cooker recipes that are easy to throw together and taste delicious. So far, I have made the Brunswick Stew (chicken based with tomato, potato, and veggies) which was delicious. The entire family enjoyed it and it was very flavorful with just a few simple ingredients. I will try more from this book over the winter months.
I really like this one. A fellow BookCrosser gave it to me and every recipe I've tried has been at least pretty good, some of them excellent. I tried the New England pot roast yesterday, but it needed more horseradish. The long cooking time mellows it out so much you can hardly even taste it. But it was still easy and good.
This book had a few recipes that looked good. It didn't have pictures, though- and that is my favorite part of a good cookbook. It was pretty thorough, as slow cooker cookbooks go, but like I said, it didn't have too many recipes to tempt me and my picky family.
I expected more out of a Bette Crocker cookbook. The recipes in the book looked boring, old fashioned and "typical". I think that there are books that contain a lot more exciting, contemporary and unusual types of crockpot cookbooks out there that would be much more worth looking into.
I love Betty Crocker, and I am enjoying using my crockpot more using recipes from this book. Nice, easy recipes, some basic, some more exotic, but nothing too "out there".
Our family tried about 5 recipes from this book - all totally disgusting. I thought with a name like Betty "Crocker", we'd get some good "crock" pot recipes. wrong.
