emotional and heartfelt
This was a wonderful love story of how love can heal a broken soul.
Tr’lani has been a slave and been subject to two years of abuse and degradation until she is rescued by Rowan, a fierce warrior prince of a people who have long been enemies of her race. The lighthearted person she was before capture is gone forever and she feels as if she will never be free of the fears and scars she carries.
With Rowans love and support and encouragement she finds her heart isn’t too broken to love and while she will always carry scars, emotionally as well as physically, Rowans love has given her strength and a joy she never thought to ever experience.
Now if they can only find a way to be with each other. It’s forbidden to mate with outsiders amongst his ppl and loving her could see him become an outcast. And her ppl have thousands of years of animosity and hatred against his ppl to welcome their union.
Double virgins, even tho heroine was a slave she was never physically exploited. No other woman, slight OM drama. No cheating or abuse between MCs. Possible triggers: heroine was abused by captors and enslaved. HEA with epilogue

This book was great! I mean out-of-this-world-fantastic!
And even better than the last.
I started reading Lost in the deep end but got into a reading slump. And I came across this book and until I finished reading it, I realized it was also from Jessica Grayson. And right now I'm in the mood to read books about space adventure and aliens and romance and stuff like that.
Anywaaay, this was the perfect book to get me out of that reading slump and I mean it in a good way.
Since I read the Krinar Chronicles, I haven't found an alien-romance book that keeps me reading until 2 am in the morning. Until now🙌🏻
I'm loving this book series.
I mean the characters are complex and so relatable. They grow and change so many times during the books. On how they overcome the fears, traumas and obstacles. On how they found love. (That for me its a win) I also like the fact the female characters are strong and not like the typical damsel in distress. And what can we say about the male characters: perfection ❤️
Another super important point: I liked the slow burn romance. 🥰My god. I like that there's the concept of mates or fated-ones in the book, but I loved and enjoyed to read how they develop a relationship of trust and then love.
The writing style is absolutely nailing it! It has the perfect amount of details, of romance, battles, steamy scenes and of course, adventures. My imagination was limitless with this book and I loved it.
Can we please fast-forward to June 2021 so I can have the next book?🙏🏻

Gentle doesn't mean docile
Tr'lani was a peaceful healer before her capture. Two years as a slave, her claws removed, her mind invaded, her fangs torn out, her wings destroyed, her back scarred, and her venom sacs excised leave her defenselessness and broken. Liana reignited her spark and they defended each other as best they could. Until, one day, 2 Mosauran burst into their latest master's ship and free them. Freedom may be instant, but recovery isn't so fast. Everything that made her Aerilon was taken from her. But Rowan won't let her fade. He sees a gentle survivor struggling. A'kai victims rarely recover. Their mental cruelty usually leaves them beyond repair. Her species may be an old foe but his heart tells him she is his other half.
Spoilers ahead.
We finally learn about the weapon we saw in Elizabeth's 3rd book. We see the timeline of the previous book from Tr'lani's and Rowan's POV. This one gets us a little closer to where Under a Different Sky had us. Our perceptions of these different cultures keep being changed. The only ones that stay the same are the A'kai. It still baffles me that for a couple thousand years they've allowed an enemy to pick off their people rather than unite and destroy them.
*For a peaceful race to create the weapon they did was odd. Granted, it had to work fast, and they weren't space faring so their options were limited. But did no one ever think to weaponize the tech used in their domes to make portable versions? Take over a ship or three and fight back? Even passive creatures fight back when it's life or death.
*With the advanced tech the Aerilon and Mosauran have, why limit Elani to the crystal? Give her a body, a job. She loves kids, let her teach. It seems mean that they basically left her trapped until they needed her to talk to someone.
*I laughed so hard over Tr'lani zapping Rowan. Both brothers stunned by their mates, literally.
*Terrans being in such short supply currently should make them more valuable. Throwing them in pits, letting them be killed by masters seems like bad business. These people are never going to treasure them but the simulators would seem like a better alternative till they find the source and could get more. People looking for profits don't usually throw away money.
*The A'kai are getting bolder and these idiots are still balking over playing nice to defend against the enemy.
*Once the others unite can we create an investigation unit of the species to root out and destroy these flesh markets? Appoint authorities in these refueling stations to deter those activities. Acknowledging the problem and only policing their airspace isn't stopping it.
*I appreciated the slow pace that Tr'lani moved at. Everyone heals differently but no one heals overnight unless they develop amnesia. She pushed herself but she didn't drive herself into the ground.
*I liked the shared legend and the mystery behind it.
This story was both more gentle and more brutal than the last. Tr'lani suffered longer, and in different ways. But her romance wasn't between 2 warriors, it was between a healer and a warrior who is an advisor. With the way this ended I can see the romance angles lining up between the various characters but the alliances are still dragging out and the A'kai are getting more aggressive.

Loved it!
Rowan and Tr’lani have a beautiful love story. Although their people enemies, the connection between them is undeniable. After Rowan and his brother rescue Tr’lani and her human friend from slavery, the long trek back home is fraught with peril. As The slave masters pursue them relentlessly Tr’lani is plagued with the terror of possible recapture. Rowan is a patient protector, understanding some of Tr’lani’s fears as years before he had also searched for a rescued his brother from slavery as well. Rowan’s tenderness and love help Tr’lani realize that it is alright to mourn the loss of who she was before and more importantly, despite the terror and agony of her experiences since she was taken from her people, she is not irreparably broken. And, through their love for one another they are able to begin to mend centuries of hate and distrust between their peoples to form an important alliance that will help
Put an end to the slavers operating in their midst. This story has lots of action, a progressing story arc from the last book and numerous beautiful tender moments that make you blink away tears.

This one was about Rowan and Tr'lani - it was good, but I think since I had just read the previous one the constant re-telling of events for the first half of the book was a bit frustrating, so would definitely work as a standalone if you haven't read the first one (but go read it it's good!!)

I had long awaited the opportunity to read more about Tr'lani and the Aerilons, so when I received it I dove right in. The story, while paralleling the timeline of Liana and Mosauran's, provides insight into new relationships and new worlds. While many of us admire Liana for her bravery and boldness, Tr'lani wins our hearts through her vulnerabilities. She and Rowan navigate many complications - from internal and external forces - while learning to love and be loved. I won't give any spoilers, but the ending leaves us with just the right amount of sweetness and has me eager once again to follow up on the new lovers with the next release.

Great read
Oh my gosh! What can I say about Jessica Grayson and her books. She is such a great author. I love all her books. I just can’t get enough of her books. I love the entire series. I love how this author doesn’t go into too much detail about how the women were treated when they were held as slaves. And I’m so glad. I read to get away from life’s trials. Jessica is so great about how she write her stories. I always love happy endings and she doesn’t disappoint in her books. I highly recommend her books. Great job Jessica!

So happy that she got her mate. Was rooting for them. Liked the twists in the book.
Forgot to mention in the first one, my displeasure over the ending scenes. Was left feeling frustrated over what happens next.
As well this one not exactly syncing with it.
Majority of the book was a repeat of first but somewhat through this books couple eyes.
Hope that the next book or the ice series, others continue on from here and I get questions answered.

Super story
I loved the tenderness in the romance of this story. The author writes with a deep understanding of the true nature of love in all it's forms, romantic, family, race,even something within an AI. Super book.

This one was a slow one for me, especially compared to the other books from the author, which I devoured. I loved the characters and rooted for them every step of the way, but there was so much overlap from the first book in the series that I was not as interested because I knew what happened. Once we got to NEW stuff, the book flew by for me!

Caring Hero and Strong Heroine
I enjoyed this couple. It was nice to see how they were willing to out aside their differences and pasts - and learn to come together as one. I am glad they got their HEA and can't wait to read the about the next couple!

I guess one shouldn't read this back to back with the first in the series, as there is so much repetition, it became very boring. Even worse was the character Rowan, who was a complete bath mat to his female and did whatever she wanted even if he knew it was a bad idea.
