Sweet Sixteen Princess
Sixteen is the magic number Mia doesn't always have the best luck with parties, so even though it's her sweet sixteenth, she doesn't want a birthday bash. As usual, Grandmère has other ideas, and thinks a reality TV special is just the thing in order to celebrate royally. The whole scheme smacks of Lilly's doing -- Lilly, whose own TV show is still only limited to local cable viewers. Will Mia be able to stop Grandmère's plan? Really good! I can't believe her grandma tried to get her on that show! Haha doesn't she know Mia by now? The party at end was really cute! Always wish these were longer!

We saw hints of a more mature voice in this book which was good...it was mostly just cute, which isn’t bad either.

Actually, a fairly decent reread knocked this thing out fairly quick. Not great but not horrible.

This is one is almost pure fluff, at first glance. But there’s really some subplots that play a huge role in book eight that rear their head here.
What I like about this one, is that despite being a romantic read it does focus a lot of the Lilly and Mia friendship. And I think that sometimes that relationship is overlooked or used more or less as a zany plot device.
But in this book, you get Lilly and Mia.
I probably won’t say that anytime else in the series, but I really understood the friendship here.
The Michael and Mia relationship, while it has its moments is really more background in this book. And I’m okay with it, when they are together its them at its best. Mia’s not a neurotic mess like she usually is, and therefore Michael doesn’t seem like he lacks a brain for not telling Mia to get over herself. Plus, the ending with all the skating couples was fun and sort of swoon worthy.
I want a birthday party like that.
It’s really a fun novella. A fun but important novella, since you really need to read it to get the full impact of book eight.

I can't think of a single reason for this book to be published, other than a lust for money. It was absolutely pointless. I reserve one star ratings for books that I absolutely hate and would gladly throw in a fire, so that's the only reason you're seeing 2 stars.
PS. Michael is boring. It doesn't help that he's never part of the narrative.

I will explode into fire. I don't see the point of this book. At this point I'm just reading in the hopes that someone tells Michael he's being a dick about sex.

This was such a fun & quick read! Back in 2020 I started rereading the whole Princess Diaries series (and in some cases reading them for the first time). But I never finished that project.
The image of Lilly Moscovitz throwing a side salad on Andy Milonakis because she was mad that he got a show on MTV had me cackling.

So, finally I feel a bit of sympathy for Lilly. I still really don't like how she treats Mia though.
Mia is turning 16 in this book and everyone has ideas for how she should celebrate and no one seems to care what she wants. Except by the end of the book we find out that most of Mia's circle of friends and family actually did care the whole time.
I also spy something curious happening with Perin that I've been suspicious of since she came into the picture. I also still have some questions about J.P. and hope we continue to learn more about him in future installments.

Mia's sweet sixteen party is coming up and Grandmere is planing something extravagant for her party. Which obviously she doesn't want. It ended pretty sweet and a extremely quick read.

November 30, 2018In the book ¨Sweet Sixteen Princess” by Meg Cabot Mia is getting ready to turn 16. All Mia can think about is her family throwing her a birthday party but, she does not want them to because of what happened at her last birthday party. Her best friend Lilly made out with another right whom was not her boyfriend in front of her own boyfriend. Mia also has other concerns though, she is the Student Council President, and is wanting fitness equipment for her school, but the meeting is not successful at all. Mia´s Grandmere has other ideas for Mia's birthday, she wants Mia to broadcast her birthday party on a television show called My Super Royal Sweet Sixteen. Mia´s Grandmere had purchased a jet and made it to where 100 of Mia's friend could fly to Genovia. Mia turns down the party idea from her Grandmere. Instead, Mia had something else coming for her. All she wants is a romantic birthday dinner but, her boyfriend had something else coming for her.
One thing I didn't like about the book was the word choice and be more descriptive. For example, it never really described what exactly Mia wanted for her birthday. There were only certain assumptions made. I felt as if the book could have contained more. It was very short, and sweet. I think it needed more information and descriptions added.

I really wished this book was longer! But I did like every moment of it, especially the end. I can really see that Mia’s relationship with Michael has really grown, in every aspect. That surprise birthday party they had for her, was perfect! It was really nice to see Mia standing up to her grandmother about the trip to Genovia with her friends, because of the environmental effects it would have. I really like how in every book, the author talks about environmental problems, and how everyone should help, even a teenager royal.

Michael really wants to have sex with Mia (and each time she says no, he doesn't push farther) but I'm hoping she will eventually dump him. Hello Mia, there is someone else right in front of your face at your lunch table...
Also, as a birthday present from her family, she received the 'Fiesta Giles' action figure!! (She had previously sold it to buy Michael an original Star Wars poster.) But now that Mia is sixteen, she thinks her collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer action figures is immature. Well, hrrrumph.

This is a cute little novella in the series, you see a bit more maturity here and respect for boundaries which is lovely to see! Mia puts her foot down some more and we see some genuinely sweet moments between her and her family :)
