The Blood of Lambs: A Former Terrorist's Memoir of Death and Redemption

Rate this book
The Blood of Lambs reveals the true inside story of the making and mind-set of a Muslim terrorist. Though his ties with terrorism were severed more than twenty years ago, it was not until 9/11, when radical Muslims rained terror on American shores, that Kamal Saleem stepped out of the shadows and revealed his true identity. Today, he is a different kind of warrior. He now stands on the wall and shouts to America, "Open your eyes and fight the danger that lives among you." As the terrible fruit of Kamal's early life in jihad screams from today's headlines, he courageously puts his life on the line to defend America, the country he now calls home.

This book is beautifully written yet somewhat frightening in its honesty. I heard Kamal Saleem speak at a public venue, bought the book, shook his hand, and had a 10 minute conversation with him. He's the real deal.

I find it hilarious that people accuse him of being a fraud. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Brigitte Gabriel, and others are accused of being frauds too. What is the common thread? If you criticize Islam you are smeared as a fraud; if run around saying that Islam is a religion of peace people believe you uncritically.

This is the world we live in: the dominant cultural narrative posits that Islam cannot be criticized. No other religion gets this special status. This special treatment is demeaning to those of us who value the free flow of ideas.

Wow, I don't know where to start this was such an amazing story and in our current dialogue of the middle east, this is timely. First of all, this is a guy who was on the front lines, so it puts you in the mindset of a terrorist. This isn't some observant guy who knew a few other guys, no he lived it and if it doesn't scare every American knowing the operational mindset of these terrorists, then it will only be a matter of time for them to be successful right here in the United States. Once again, I am amazed at the courage these men have who are marked for death but who continue to stay alive ( no doubt by God's hand) to tell their story and the truth about the religion of Islam.

I am perpetually amazed at how God can save even the most unlikely of people. I mean, who can imagine it? This man was so committed to his religion that he had even committed murder and terrorism for it! And yet the love of Christ won out. Incredible! 🙌 💕

Memoirs of a Terrorist reveals the true inside story of the life and mindset of a radical muslim terrorist who finally came to renounce his murderous mission and embrace freedom.

Some radical Muslims believe that non-Muslims who refuse to convert must die. Memoirs of a Terrorist is the true account of the life of such a terrorist who has since renounced his deadly participation in jihad, or “holy war.” His memoir conveys an urgent message to Americans to wake up to the dangers of the terrorists who are still executing their harmful and destructive schemes.

Kamal Saleem was born under a different name into a Sunni Muslim family in Lebanon. From a young age he was taught that the loftiest accomplishment he could achieve in life was to be martyred while killing infidels, namely Christians, Jews, and Americans. At age seven, he was recruited by the Muslim Brotherhood and entered an assault camp where members of al-Assifa, the armed branch of Fatah, trained for terror missions against Israel. After years of training, Saleem operatedin successful terror campaigns funded by the Muslim Brotherhood, the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and wealthy oil sheikhs. He infiltrated the United States with the sole purpose of converting others to radical Islam.

However, a life-changing event caused him to reevaluate his worldview. Kamal came to know three kind Christian men, and through them he saw the love of God—eventually coming to know their God as well. As a result of their love andsacrificial giving, Kamal acknowledged his need for Christ as Savior. Memoirs of a Terrorist is his riveting story that attests to the power of love and freedom.

Every Freedom Loving American should read this book soon to understand what is really happening with the undermining of both our nation and our way of life. Watch the movie "They Live" and replace the alien invaders with Muslim Terrorists that are working from within the United States to undermine all that we have accomplished and replace it with Umma and Sharia Law.

Everyone who loves America needs to read this book and wake up.

This was a tough book to read and a tough one to put down. First-hand account of a young man growing up in Lebanon in the 1960s and being mentored by men who sent him and other children out on military raids when he was as young as seven! Gripping account of his life working amongst terrorist groups in the Middle East, eventually coming to the U.S. to recruit dissatisfied youth to the movement. A car wreck becomes the turning point in his life, when he meets several doctors who unwittingly change his perspective; eventually, instead of wanting to destroy the U.S., he wants to become a citizen.

A MUSLIM CONVERT TO CHRISTIANITY TELLS HIS STORY, AND MORE

Kamal Saleem was born to a Sunni Muslim family in Lebanon. He claims to have been recruited by the Muslim Brotherhood at age 7, and later also by the PLO and other radical Muslim groups. He asserts that he personally met Yasser Arafat, Moammar Qaddafi, and Saddam Hussein. He claims to have spent half a decade recruiting Islamists in America, before becoming a Christian, after an auto accident, where a Christian man helped him back to health. He now claims that the Muslim Brotherhood has put a $25 million bounty on his head. [NOTE: the accuracy of his backstory has been questioned; e.g., by Mother Jones magazine.]

He wrote in the first chapter of this 2009 book that in 2007 in California, “Zak[ariah Anani], Walid [Shoebat], and I had delivered our message to an audience of three thousand… I told the audience how I had been recruited into the Muslim Brotherhood at age seven and how at age twenty-three I had crossed the Atlantic, on a mission to destroy America from the inside out… until 2001, America---my adopted country---had not seen jets used as missiles… Yet even with the horrific impact of 9/11, America did not understand what I KNEW: that the invasion was on… I knew because I had helped to cause it. I had PLANNED it. I came here, funded by Islamists in the Arab countries, willing to die for this glorious invasion. To someday see blood running in American streets.”

He states, “thirty years before, empowered by the Muslim Brotherhood and the Palestine Liberation Organization, I had come to America… I knew that by infiltrating the American educational system, overrunning its universities and jails, and swarming its poor neighborhoods, my jihadist brothers and I could usher in Umma---one world under Islam… I had worked odd jobs as cover only, since I was being well paid by Middle Eastern sheikhs… An open society with constitutionally protected freedom of speech and religion, which prides itself on its embrace of foreign cultures, was the perfect place to teach a message of hatred in broad daylight. I was a master at reaching … those who perceived themselves oppressed. I taught them that Allah cared for them. I found them jobs, mentored them,… Once the converts were hooked, we turned them over to the imams at small ‘apartment mosques’ to be radicalized.” (Pg. 6-7)

He says that at age three, his mother told him, “Killing infidels is one of the ways Allah would open heaven for us… The more infidels we killed, the better our chances to move quickly from punishment to paradise… It is the duty of the faithful to punish and harass the Jews and Christians, who are thieves and traitors to Islam. They are cursed as monkeys and pigs, and their spirits are unclean. It is in the Book.” (Pg. 22)

He recounts, “In July 2007, Walid Shoebat and I met in Aspen to address a meeting of the Jewish-Christian Relations (JCR) on the subject of anti-Semitism and Muslim terrorism… Walid is not Walid’s real name. Born in Bethlehem of Judea… he joined the PLO at a young age and was later imprisoned … for committing violent acts against Israel. After his release, he resumed his acts of terror against the Jews, eventually continuing them in the United States… in the form of … working as a counselor for the Arab Student Organization at Loop College in Chicago… Ultimately, it was his intellectual bent that led him to abandon holy war. Islamist men are taught that they can marry Christian … women in order to convert them… In 1993, in a challenge to convert his Christian wife to Islam, Walid studied the Hebrew Scriptures. Within six months, he decided that everything he had been taught about the Jews was a lie…. [He began] speaking to tens of thousands at churches, synagogues, and civic groups… about the cause of Israel. For that, he was marked by the jihadists for death---and by many in the American media as a bigot and a charlatan… ‘I have a real concern with your security,’ he told my wife and me… ‘you will need to eat, sleep, and breathe security…. Above all… trust no one.’” (Pg. 23-25)

He asserts, “The Brotherhood does more than support terrorism… They are its lifeblood… it was well known that most Islamic terror groups have at least some roots in the Muslim Brotherhood… The Brotherhood is a Sunni movement with a stark and violent credo… As a young man, I imported this credo to America. I was not alone. During the late 1970s, I was among a wave of Middle Eastern students who washed on to American shores, carried along on oil money and easy visas. We were... the vanguard, planting the seeds of jihad with groups like the Muslim American Youth Association…” (Pg. 69-70)

He says, “We hated the Jews, of course, and that was the reason for our hatred of America. Besides despising her loud, gaudy women and loose ways of living, we knew that if it were not for America, Israel would not exist… the imams spoke often about the Palestinians and about what the Jews, in league with the Americans, were doing to them… The truth was that most Muslims saw the Palestinians as a scrubby little minority group, a burden on the rest of us. But their cause gave the Muslim fascists a reason to back at America.” (Pg. 82-83)

He states that in 1978, “I trained with women at Sabra. There were not many of them, and they were not there as a matter of equality… with men. It was only that Arafat… and others had deduced that by using women, they would fool the Jews… the Israelis, our leaders decided, had never seen us deploy a woman… So we began to train a few women to smuggle weapons and wear the martyr’s bomb…” (Pg. 134)

He explains, “In Saudi [Arabia], there were and are two kinds of royalty: the pro-American, westernized kind who want to travel and enjoy life, and the Wahhabi Muslims who are radical to the bone. The second breed was angry and resentful over the decline of Islam, over the crumbling of the male-dominated culture. Then, as now, they believed fervently that America was destroying Islam, and they were happy to pour their wealth into bringing our great faith back to its full glory, donating their millions for jihad.” (Pg. 197)

He recounts, “at a [2008] conference … at Calvary Chapel… I first told three thousand people that one of Islam’s secret evils had come to America… Honor killing had come to America… In seven months’ time, three Muslim men in America attacked or killed women for religious reasons. And yet some reporters have insisted on trying to divorce honor killing from Islam. Why is this? Do we think that by softening this connection in the name of ‘multiculturalism,’ we will somehow appear enlightened and that women’s lives will be spared?” (Pg. 213, 215)

He recounts another lecture of his, “At the assault camp, I learned to hate the Great Satan. The PLO showed us propaganda movies in which Christians and Jews acquired Muslim blood to use in their religious ceremonies… We sang hate songs calling for the destruction of the infidels… we cast violent curses against America, her leaders, and their seed and called for the spilling of their blood… I told them how groups like the Islamic Thinkers Society… demonstrated on a New York street corner in exercise of their ‘free speech rights.’ While stomping on and tearing up an American flag, they publicly laughed at Americans for being stupid while they used their constitutional rights to argue that the Constitution should be replaced with Sharia law and the country ruled by a new Islamic caliphate… Ini the mid-1980s… I had an accident and met three American men who loved me and showed me kindness that completely changed my life… Now we love this country and live for her, standing and fighting for America as Americans.” (Pg. 275-276)

He concludes, “Am I afraid of Islam? No: I killed for it. Am I afraid of what radical Islam will do if they continue their successful advance in America? Yes. And those who believe that America is so powerful that she is immune to such killing within her borders are fools. It is already happening to Muslim women. And since 9/11, American authorities have exposed and halted no fewer than fourteen domestic attacks… Some moderate Muslims disagree with the jihadist and only wish to be left to live out their faith to Allah peacefully… In many cases, the moderates know the ruthlessness of the jihadists and are afraid to speak out against them… But there is still another group of moderate Muslims and many of this group have infiltrated the United States. These moderates… secretly cheer on the jihadists as they do the dirty work… I did not speak out the instant the World Trade Center towers crumbled: because I feared for my family, still living in Lebanon. I am not just an infidel, but an ultimate infidel… In warning Americans about such things, there is no gain for me personally. I had a good career in information technology that I quit to write this book. I will not be famous, but infamous.” (Pg. 306-309)

‘Caveat Emptor’ for those who accept Saleem’s portrayal of himself as a former terrorist. But this book will be (and IS!) of great interest to those interested in ‘Terrorist turns Christian’ books.

Kamal Saleem was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1958. At the age of seven, he was recruited by the Muslim Brotherhood and soon after joined Fatah, the largest faction of the PLO. His book The Blood of Lambs: A Former Terrorist’s Memoir of Death and Redemption alternates between the story of his youth as a member of Fatah and his present day actions. [return][return]At seven, he began smuggling weapons into Israel and soon moved on to combat missions. He participated in extortions, kidnappings, bombings, murders, and the usual terrorist activities as he moved up in the Fatah ranks. At the age of 16, he went to Libya for advanced terror training in one of Muammar Gaddafi’s training camps. He returned home just prior to the start of the Lebanese civil war and spent several years fighting along the Beirut’s Green Line. He was eventually sent to Saudi Arabia to raise money for the PLO, which he was apparently very successful at, collecting large donations from wealthy oil Sheikhs. He returned to Lebanon and was involved in a mission to steal SA-7 SAMs from Syria; once they were stolen, he helped transport them into Afghanistan for use against the Soviets. While in Afghanistan Mr. Saleem shot down a Soviet bomber with one of the SA-7s. In 1981, he came to the United States in an effort to radicalize American Muslims, which he continued to do until 1985. In 1985, he was involved in a serious auto accident and broke two vertebrae in his neck. After spending a week in the hospital, his doctor asked him if he would like to continue his recovery at the doctor’s home. Mr. Saleem agreed and moved in with the doctor’s family while he continued to heal. By 1990, he had converted to Christianity and married an American woman. He never told her or anyone about his terrorist past. In 2004, he decided he needed to speak out about the dangers of radical Islam and its ties to terrorism. [return][return]Intermixed with the above story are incidents that occurred during his speaking tour in 2007-2008. Most of the incidents involve threats of some sort made against him or his family.[return][return]In the first chapter, Mr. Saleem describes an incident that occurred in Chino, California in 2007. I have been in law enforcement for almost 20 years, so I know a little about security and I have a hard time believing the event he described actually happened or at least happened as he described. This caused me to question the truthfulness of everything that came after. All of the events Mr. Saleem describes could have happened and they all could have happened to him but his first chapter makes me wonder. With this in mind, I question how Mr. Saleem could have risen so high in Fatah at such a young age and how he managed to be involved in so many different actions in such a short time. [return][return]While I questioned Mr. Saleem’s trustworthiness, I thought the story was well told and it kept me interested. Right up to the point where he moved in with the doctor’s family. While, I found it unlikely that such an event would occur, what really got me was the doctor’s explanation for the offer, “We just want to show you the love of God”. I read that and said; “You have got to be kidding” however it got worse. The scene describing the doctor’s children meeting Mr. Saleem sounded like a scene with Rod and Todd Flanders from The Simpsons. Moreover, to finish it off, god spoke to him.[return][return]Mr. Saleem mentions in his book that critics have accused him of fabricating his story, alleging he was never a terrorist, nor a Muslim. The supposed purpose of this is to discredit his warnings about radical Islam. I think his warnings are valid, but I don’t know if his story is.[return][return]This book was received from Library Thing Early Reviewer.

The story was interesting but at times seemed a bit too much. I'll admit that I am clueless when it comes to terrorists, but it seemed like Kamal just happened to be in the perfect place to meet all these infamous terrorists leaders. He was singled out to go on raids and battles and narrowly escaped death multiple times. Often I stopped and wondered how one man was able to do everything he was describing, which then interrupted the narrative. I felt like the story didn't flow and often times I was confused about about what was going on or what I had missed. Maybe this was on purpose and he was leaving out specific events for safety? I also felt like the majority of his book was mostly focused on his terrorist deeds with a couple of rushed chapters at the end to say he became a Christian. I also wasn't quite sure how he ended up giving all these talks to people. I felt like I missed a big chunk of information on how he got to where he is now.

I originally heard about this book from some friends on Facebook, and wanted to read it myself. I'm glad I did. It was a very eye-opening and heartbreaking 1st person account of the tactics used by radical Islamic terrorists to recruit and train children to carry out their agendas. Mr. Saleem shows incredible fortitude in making this information known. It's also a story of redemption, love, and hope.

The writing style is immersive and effective, however, it felt as though there were some narrative gaps that leave me wondering how true the story actually is. It's quite outlandish at times, but maybe not quite too outlandish to be believable, but the lack of ancillary resources to confirm details does make some of his claims a little dubious.

But apart from that, it is an effective memoir of conversion of from violence to peace, and to cling to a vision of life that's worth living.

This is one of those books that seems so unbelievable that you almost want to spend a month researching its veracity. However, it's very well-written and utterly compelling. It's also a chilling insight into what modern terrorists think and act like. Highly recommended.

Astounding.

Beautifully descriptive. A joy to read and how amazing to see how God works, how He never fails to perfectly accomplish His plans and purposes within His unconditional love and forgiveness. I love this book. It opens a new world to me and presents truth I need to know.

Interesting to see how he was raised and the road that led him to be a terrorist, but I'm skeptical of some of the things presented in the book and the message of fear. It was also a little too graphic for my taste.

This sure was action packed. Is it true? That seems to be the big question. Certain aspects sure are. Not so sure about the terrorists parts - probably though.
Its the Islamic issues that scare me the most. Its easy to test this, all you have to do is mention the Jews...and you'll see many so-called moderate Muslim's go off on tyrannical rampages of hate. Weird eh? Are the Jews really that big a deal. All this fighting over a pathetically small piece of land? If the Muslims want to impress me: all they have to do is give the Israelites that very small bit of land in the middle East and get on with showing the entire world how peaceful and full of love and prosperity Islamic societies are. Sorry people - but all we ever seem to see is fighting and complaining. Allah doesn't seem to be looking after you at all is he. You Muslims have billions of dollars in oil money and yet many of you are in poverty and misery. Why isn't allah spreading the wealth? It appears Muslims are just as greedy and commercialized as the rest of the world. You have NO right to hate or disapprove of the United States way of living. This book proves that nicely. If the Jews and Americans are so rich and successful: Ask allah what the problem is. Apparently he isn't running things very well.

And that is what this book shows. Endlessly miserable Muslims actually thinking they will be happy when they finally get their world domination. But like this book says: once your enemies are gone - you'll just turn on each other. Nasty eh?

Is there such a thing as moderate Muslims? I doubt it. How many moderate Muslims cheered when the world trade centers blew up? It might be easier to ask how many didn't?
Its very simple: all the moderate Muslims have to do to prove this author wrong is stand up and put an end to radical Muslims everywhere. If only 1% of Muslims are radicals then it should be no problem. But we all know that ain't going to happen anytime soon. Especially since the problem seems to be coming right from their mosques and Imams. So all you Muslims: next time you witness anyone saying anything against the Jews, or the U.S., or Christians in your Mosque, please stand up and remind them Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. Yeah right! As if that will ever happen.

anyway, i'm surprised this author didn't mention the endgame of Islam as compared to other religions. Islam demands that the World must come under the submission of allah and Islam. Nasty eh? Yes it is.
Other religions don't demand world dominance. Christianity even admits that the Christians will basically lose and be persecuted by the entire world. Not much to fear there. Domination is not going to happen.

I hope this author writes another book someday. The rest of the story perhaps.

WOW! That's the word that kept coming into my mind as I read "The Blood of Lambs--A Former Terrorist's Memoir of Death and Redemption" by Kamal Saleem with Lynn Vincent. It is the most interesting memoir I have ever read! I was fascinated by what the Muslims believe and have a better understanding of how Muslim terrorists think. Kamal was abused and bullied as a kid, and found acceptance and protection when recruited as a boy soldier. All his life he was raised to hate and at age 7, attended a terrorist training camp where they trained with live ammunition. This man had a vast number of experiences that were completely new to me, including many near death experiences. His childhood is heartbreaking and even after he came to America and was converted to Christianity, his bravery continues as he publicly shares his story and warns the U.S. to wake up to what the Jihad is up to. His life is always in danger!

I learned so much from reading this book! I am not into politics at all so thought this book might be boring and read like a history text book, but I was so wrong! It is a very interesting and captivating read because wanting to know what happened to bring about this terrorist's conversion to Christianity kept me turning the pages. This is not the kind of book I normally would read, but it was recommended to me by a friend in an email that went into detail about it which piqued my interest. Now I am recommending it to you!

The Blood of Lambs by Kamal Saleem tells the true story of his life and his change from being a follower of Allah to being a follower of Jesus Christ. At the age of 7 he was trained to become an Islamic terrorist! It is a fascinating read. I didn't know how they train these people, but I do now and it is very scary! The story of how he became to speak out against terrorism is mind-blowing. You have to read it to believe it!

The author of this book was raised to hate America as well as Christianity. America is Big Satan and Israel is Little Satan. He comes to America to recruit terrorists in our prisons, universities and poor neighborhoods. He believes he is doing this for Allah to die an have 75 virgins. As a child, he questions how can one man handle so many woman when it is difficult to handle one wife. He also is quite concerned about what happens to his mother and will she get 72 virgin men. His father is angly at him for saying such things about his mother and tells him that Allah will give him strengh to handle all the woman and that he will have super human strength. He comes back a day later and tells Kamal that his mother will be in charge of the virgins which is not correct, but even his father can see the injustice for woman. At age 7, he is learning how to be a terrorist: kidnapping, explosives, and weapons. A life changing event occurs after he arrives in America. He has a car accident and a Christian family takes him in. It changes his whole view of Americans that he has learned since he was a child. Now, he has changed his name and travels around America warning us that their are sleeper terrorist everywhere waiting for the signal to begin their attack within America. America's strength is also our weakness. We are so accepting of others, but I wouldn't want to change it out of fear.

"The Blood of Lambs" by Kamal Saleem is an amazing, must read book from start to finish. It is a memoir about a former terrorist's life. Since it is a memoir, everything contained in the book must be taken with a grain of salt because the author will be inherantly somewhat biased. However, that being said, I believe the author does try to provide the reader with an honest view of what being a terrorist was like. The purpose of this book is to inform the reader and open up their eyes that the danger to America is not gone but in fact real and present.

The chapters in this book are short, exactly like "The DaVinci Code", which makes the book an even faster read. I could not put this book down once I began it. It grabs the reader immediately and they are drawn into this dangerous world. Since the purpose of this book was not just to tell the story of one former terrorist's life but to inform and warn the readers, it succeeded. The reader cannot finish this book without feeling a little chill in their spine about the future. This book definitely provides a wakeup call for all of those who have become complacent since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America.

This is an amazing memoir and I highly recommend it to everyone. It is one of those books you can't put down once you begin. Also this book has a good point it's trying to make which makes this book even more worth the read.

An easy book to read? No. An important and thought-provoking book? Yes.

Kamal Saleem describes his childhood as a Sunni Muslim in Lebenon and recruitment into the PLO at the ripe old age of seven. The reason this book was so difficult to read is because it is filled with the detailed descriptions of the terrorist training, terror attacks, violence and murder that Kamal took part in. Emotionally, I wanted to close the book and pretend that things like this can't possibly be happening, but rationally, I knew that it was important to read on even though it disrupted my comfortable American world.

Kamal rationalizes that it is the very fundamentals of America--welcoming immigrants, freedom of speech and religion, tolerance--that make her so vulnerable to a spread of radical Islam.

Kamal is now an American citizen and converted to Christianity. However, he doesn't spend an extraordinary amount of time in the book talking about his conversion experience.

Reading this book gave me a better understanding of the mentality of jihad. It also made me wonder if, by viewing the world through our American rose-colored glasses, we fully understand the extent of radical Islam and what it means for "infidels" such as ourselves?

It is obviously Kamal to the end of the last page still thinks with the same thought pattern radical Islam have. But I found that helps in term of his objective to warn people even though I doubt it sounds pretty much like urging people to , of course, having to wage war with Muslim brotherhoods without a choice. These zealots are quite unstoppable since death is what they are seeking.
so instead, it is like reading a line of thought of radical Muslim who is now convert to Christianity against the still radical Muslim.

I get his fair intention very well.
After all, I learned a lot of middle Eastern culture & history in an enjoyable read. I learn about Islamist Culture in a vivid and creative prose.

Thank you, for writing this book.
