I'm in Love I'm in Love La La la La Love Love Love Love La LaLa La La weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
(Love makes humans silly, people, and I'm in Love with this series)
I strongly dislike reading a series that is not finished because of all the anticipation, but this one I just had to follow on. Usually I get bored, and I may or may not follow the series, but THIS BOOK IS AWESOME. The main character is so eccentric in her way of thinking and is an open book despite her complex thinking that tends to make no sense what so ever. I have been following this book for years and while I wait for the next book, I can not resist rereading. There are some scenes that had me rolling on the floor and just keeps me giggling throughout the day earning me some odd looks. Once this series is done, I am definently going to buy the whole thing. This author is magic and her writing is pure magic. The story is comical, the main character is down right wierd and the various scenes are hilarious. I am definently in love with this author and will branch out to her other books when she is done with this series.
I first started this series years ago. I watched the anime series first which wasn't too bad but very comedic rather than serious and complex which was fine but I wish the anime covered more of the manga and toned down the awful comedy scenes. I was curious on how the story would end and already had volumes 5-6 as a gift so I thought "What the heck,I should give this a try" and so I did. These are the problems with Skip Beat! Kyoko Mogami has the dumbest motivation I've seen in a story and she isn't funny. Her comedic timing is off,the whole premise of her ,"comedy" scenes are rolling the floor, being weird, turning into a chibi and yelling. The writer tried too hard to make her funny and failed at it. In the beginning of the story she leaves her home town to help her "childhood love" Shotaro Fuwa (or Sho for short) to support him while he made it big as a visual kei artist( a type of music scene in Japan). Now Kyoko says once Sho got the fame he wanted he abandoned Kyoko. In reality she abandoned Sho because he had a girlfriend. Kyoko never dated prior, she was just upset and obsessed with him for some bizarre reason. She also said Sho found her clingy, overbearing and only saw her as a friend he could take advantage of. Only part of this is true. The part that is true is that he found her clingy and overbearing because she was. Kyoko spent most her life tying to appease others and instead of working on herself. Her obsessed with Sho had her end up without a High school education or skills other than the skills she learned from Sho's family inn. She never did anything for herself. Kyoko's mother even abandoned her because she couldn't be bothered with her anymore so what does she do? She decides to suddenly become actress to get her "sweet revenge" on her ex-friend to "beat him" him in sho-biz. Of course Ren Tsuruga(a follow actor and model) found her annoying and unprofessional because she was. Kyoko does everything in the extreme instead of like a normal person. She also tries to force every girl she meets to be her friend. After a while through Ren decided to help Kyoko improve her acting since she says she will do the whole sho-biz thing for herself and not for revenge or frame. She never followed through with that though because she's too grossly obsessed with Sho. Later in the story it's revealed that Ren was a childhood friend of Kyoko but for some weird reason Kyoko doesn't realize it at all. However Ren keeps dropping hints and so does Kyoko (unknowingly) that they indeed knew each each other in the past. DUDE the FACTS are in your face!🤦♂️ Maybe she doesn't realize because the two of them only spoken to each other a few times. The two of them are somehow considered friends even though Kyoko never learned his name or anything about him other than he's tall. I guess in this story people are friends just from talking to each other a few times and calling each other stupid nicknames like "corn". This is the kind of logic I would see in Kingdom Hearts. LoL In volume 8-12 Ren starts having "romantic feelings" for Kyoko and the situations between them start to become VERY weird. Now Ren is four years older than Kyoko so he's 20 going on 21? Kyoko is aged 16 -17 in these volumes. The writer and artist Yoshiki Nakamura makes a BIG deal through in the story about the age gaps between Kyoko and Ren. This makes me uncomfortable because Kyoko acts like a ten year old girl through out these volumes and sees/made every nice adult into a "parental figure" including Lory Takarada and Sho's parents. Kyoko is obviously not understanding Ren's "feelings" and thinks he is really just a friend and even like a father to her when he really is thinking of her in a romantic way. Yoshiro (Ren's manager) has been pushing them together since volume 8 and it's very annoying. He told Ren to quickly get into a relationship with Kyoko because she inexperienced and young. Around volumes 13-15 covers the "Suddenly a love story Arc" the worst arc so far. Nakamura decided to randomly add a romance in the middle of a important arc in the series to please her weird fans. In this arc Kyoko is assigned her first REAL acting scene for a TV drama,Ren learns to adapt to a different acting style than he's used to and Sho struggles with rewriting a new song after his original draft is stolen. The arc started off great till the forced romance and drama happened. Kyoko reverted back to obsessing over Sho like she did in volume 7,EVEN though they aren't in the same line of business. She had no need to continue to focus on him. She nearly sexually assaulted by a rival of Sho in either volume 14 or 15. Ren becomes possessive of Kyoko out of nowhere. Sho was the only one not being a complete idiot until he hit her out of anger. This arc was overstuffed with loads of bullshit for a attempt at boring drama that I didn't want to read. Sho is suddenly in love with Kyoko and apparently the whole time because he didn't know how to express his feelings because he's "awkward". Originally Sho liked her because she was longer putting up with his bullshit and was becoming more independent. Little did he know that was all a "front" she is STILL very obsessed with him and clingy like every other female character in Skip Beat. The characters aren't consistent and most of them are irrelevant to the plot.
Volumes 17-23 wasn't as painful to read but many of the situations Kyoko found herself in was stupid and embarrassing.
I don't like the romance in this story because it written horribly by a author who felt that the fans made her rush the love arcs. Nakamura was the one to decide to write the nonsensical love triangle. If I was the author of SB I would have written these scenes better. Originally I thought if this story HAD to end with Kyoko dating someone I would prefer her to choose BOTH guys. After reading more of the series I realized how much older Ren was to Kyoko and how inappropriate it would be if he dated her. After I read the "Suddenly a love story" arc I thought Sho would be a better choice because: 1. He was the same age of Kyoko and his reasoning for his past actions made more sense later in the story 2.She actually knows this dude. Ren was being disgustingly possessive and being very intense with keeping Kyoko away from Sho. There is even a scene where he sees Sho and Kyoko making up and he interrupted it out of jealousy. After reading volume 15: I changed my mind this time because the main character is immature and needs to improve herself before getting in a relationship. I came for the sho-biz part of the story not this nonsense. The main character seems to have "infant abandonment symptom" Hopefully the story improves. My rating for what I read so far 3 and half stars.
While I loved how this volume started out (especially the whole legend of the rose, and Kyouko's INSANE panic when she then realised it had accidentally turned upside down - oops?) but tbh I wasn't entirely satisfied with the later parts? I think that's probably because with the introduction of Chiori (who seems to be our latest villain), there's just WAY too much two-faced-ness and backstabbing for my liking. I just don't understand Chiori's motivation? She just appears to be a two-faced little shit but there's no background on her and I want to know WHY.
And then Kyouko's being bullied by basically all the actors on set, and the director... and then Chiori comes to "give her advice" which is 100% false and then she goes to the director and tells him that she's told Kyouko the opposite? SHE'S TRYING TO GET KYOUKO FIRED.
Hoping the next volume will explain some of this, and give a good resolution >.>

This was an amazing read. I really love the story. The story just gets better each volume. In this volume, Kyoko was late for her script because she was admiring her presents. This caused issues between some of the other cast members. She is having difficulty relating to her new character, Natsu. I still love Ren and Kyoko's relationship. He knows what Kyoko is capable of doing. Can't wait to read Volume 22 and that it continues to get better. Overall, an incredible read.
I fell in love with this manga immediately. It drew me in and kept me there. Sadly to say i have been reading it from the internet and hate to wait in between chapters. I've also been watching it's anime and I've seen the first episode of the TV show extravagant challenge based on this manga. But nothing beats the manga because it has all the extra details that are not shown elsewhere.
I'm writing this review for all of the volumes of Skip Beat because i tend to read them all together. I enjoy Kyoko's personality, the way she is inexperienced in various things(such as friends, boyfriends, etc.), serious with others(her acting,etc.)..Her relationship with Ren and how she won't admit to her feelings. I also like the turn of events with Sho, how he is now interested in her.
I like reading this manga over & over again because it basically shows a young girl who had her heart broken and was stepped on, who gathered up all her anger, her little left hope and decided to get revenge. Along the way she makes friends, experiences new feelings, develops a deep love for her acting which changes things around for her.
No matter how many time you get knocked down, you should get back up and fight!!
I think this one started out okay, but then they're dragging the new role drama out way too much. Too much attention on it and not enough progress. It's frustrating to read the main character going in circles for pages and pages and this is a problem she's had for several volumes now. It's like beating a dead horse.

Today’s post is on Skip Beat!, Vol. 21 by Yoshiki Nakamura. It is 92 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Kyoko looking very cool. As it is the twenty-first in the series you need to have read the first twenty volumes to understand the story. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this volume. The intended reader is someone who likes humor manga, revenge stories, and great main characters. The story is told from third person close of mostly Kyoko. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Kyoko is basking in the glow of working a Christmas miracle and getting some birthday booty of her own. But she's so unused to this kind of joy that she ends up late to the script reading for her new drama. Now her whole day is a mess and Ren is mad at her! Can Kyoko balance revenge, a career and her own happiness?
Review- Kyoko has taken the role of villain in her new series and she is struggling with it in more ways than she knows. She has a co-worker working against her and is trying to ruin her but I believe in Kyoko and her spirit. Of course she is too harsh on herself as she tries to make others happy and is not listening to herself about her character but that’s something that Kyoko has to overcome herself. Ren is supportive and getting ready for a major role that I have been excited to see him in, Cain Heel. I cannot want to read the next volume.
I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
Kyoko finally starts acting in a new drama, but of course things don’t go as planned. At the beginning we can see the continuation of the volume before, we see Kyoko with all her birthday gifts. In this volume as well Kyoko is struggling once more with finding and acting out her character. We see that there is one actress on the set deceiving everyone into thinking she’s nice, while she’s setting a trap for Kyoko, also all the other female costars who seem to hate Kyoko and mock her. At the end of the volume Kyoko seeks out Ren’s help. I really enjoyed this volume. I loved how Ren made up an entire story behind the rose he gave her, and even put a crystal inside its petals, it was super cute and endearing! With all the trouble Kyoko’s having with expressing her character Natsu, I’m waiting to see how things will turn out this time! The one problem I seemed to have with this volume was the overuse of female hate. I feel like there is just too much female hate in this series (previous volumes as well), but especially in this volume. All of the costars in the drama that seem to hate Kyoko are females, and it seems to become a repetitive formula in this series, which I have to admit I don’t like!
The thrill of the party is over and we see the after-effects of the decisions made. Mogami is struggling with the new challenge of character development as Dark Moon starts to wrap up. Kyoko is determined to try and figure this out while also insuring Mio doesn't take over! The enemies are closing in on her and she has to figure out her Natsu before the enemy succeeds. She attempts to use her new knowledge of creation by Koo, but she is still struggling to understand Natsu; however, Ren is here with some advice and tutelage to make the seeds start to grow!
Ah, ragazza! Sei già mezza innamorata e ancora non l'hai capito!
I really dislike the new director. "Don't be Mio, but why can't you just be Mio." Kyoko comes up with her own solutions, and I'm so happy she reaches out to Ren and others for help now! Are we about to see another villain turned friend or is this vile competitor going to ruin herself trying to take our girl down?
Kioko will have to be cast in a new role. The study of the new character is complex and will take time. Funny when Ren tells her the legend and she finds the jewel in the Queen Rose. New rivals are shown. Improved drawings
I find it very realistic how Kyoko now struggles with the shadow of her previous, popular role of Mio. Now everyone wants just that from her. I believe the role of Natsu - a relentless, perfect bully - will help her accept and love acting more.
Yessss!!! We are back to focusing on Kyoko's acting journey, with her very weird hobbies and antics mixed in!! I love what we've gotten so far, it's so intriguing and fun, especially because she has so much to learn and so much growth ahead of her. I cannot wait to see what's going happen next.
