Perfectly normal couple Sam and Maggie live in a perfectly normal neighborhood, with their perfectly normal dog Winston. All the houses look the same. The people sound and look the same.
On the outside, everything was fine. Definitely fine! But Maggie began struggling to keep the facade of their idyllic suburban life.
While trying to resist the watchful eyes of those in power, Maggie learned first hand what happens to those who don’t play by the rules. Rebels are heavily punished in this society, and deemed “red-status” — swiftly erased from memory. Even with this horrible knowledge in the back of her mind, Maggie continued to defy the status quo. Tensions rose until they combusted.
Now, Sam and Maggie will have to learn to trust one another again, and get rid of the proverbial skeletons in their closet in order to survive.
This is the story of a couple doing their best to get by in a world where things are absolutely, totally, and unquestionably fine. Will they be able to pull off the impossible and return to normal? What does “normal” even mean anymore?
Collecting episodes 17–29 of the hit WEBTOON comic Everything Is Fine.
"The one thing we've learned tonight is that people are dangerous when they're out of options."
I've been dying to get my hands on this volume right after finishing the first one. I walked around with my trusty hammer hoping that someone knew where to get that second volume. Then it happened, an email changed my life and here we are... but now I need the next volume. You can't just leave us in the lurch like this!
I thought that you couldn't get more disturbing than the first one and then I read this one. I was so wrong and I'm glowing with evil excitement. With an evil grin on my face and pure delight in my eyes, I read this a second time and it made my pure black heart burst. I loved this volume.
Yet again, who has to meet the hammer for me to get more of this series?
omg.. this webtoon is incredible. it reminds me of Welcome to Nightvale if it actually had a plot. I'm like, actually considering on buying webtoon coins so I could read more lmao
Everything is not fine as things get cutthroat in the neighborhood when a dead body has to be dealt with.
Still baffling, still intriguing.
FOR REFERENCE:
Collects episodes 17-29 and mini-episodes 1-4 of the WEBTOON comic.
Contents: • Everything Is Fine: Volume 1 Recap • Part 1: Since Last Accident • Part 2: Working the Angles • Part 3: Every Unhappy Family • Part 4: Desperate Times • Part 5: No Going Back • Part 6: Heat Death • Part 7: Pleasure to Burn • Part 8: All Good Things • Oscar [Parts 1-4] • Bonus Material [Real Cat Heads -- Anatomy Reference -- Heads Turnaround]
Die Grundidee hat sich für mich schnell abgenutzt und es sind immer noch sehr viele Fragen offen. Die Handlung bleibt auf einem gleichbleibenden markaberen Level aber überrascht nicht mehr so wie bei Teil 1.
damn!!!!! i finished all the episodes on webtoon and i just couldn’t stop reading the cliff hangers are too good and i never knew what would happen next…
Thank you, Netgalley and publisher for this advanced copy.
In Everything is Fine volume 2...It wasn't fine at all. As always, this series has always been my favorite series on webtoon, the combination of dysfunctional society, psychological, and thriller was the best!! And the most horror was the art style. The art style was so cute, but the story was dark. Love that idea!!
After the events of volume 1, Maggie has to convince Sam to calm down and then the two of them have to cover up a murder. Luckily, the next door neighbors who ratted Maggie out in the first place, Bob and Linda, are conveniently right there.
I still don't really know what's going on, but I'm pretty thoroughly hooked now. Sam and Maggie's murder coverup probably
One new thing we know now: whatever is going on, it seems to involve everyone's kids. I thought the kids were all dead, like Poor Winston, but from the sounds of things they're maybe being used as hostages to force the adults to stick to certain types of behavior.
Extras:
I don't know if this counts as an extra or if it was just the introduction of a new character, but there was a brief sidestory at the end involving a guy whose house is apparently trapped in some kind of bubble. He generally hides inside and leaves his cat, Oscar, to do most of his interacting with the outside world.
Definitely an extra, though: a redone version of a certain scene from volume 2 in which everyone has been given "real" cat heads instead of cartoonish cat heads. There are also a variety of reference illustrations.
Now I'm of wondering if this series' villains are, in fact, actual cats.
For some reason, don't ask me why, I thought this second volume was actually the last volume in the series. Turns out I was completely wrong about that, and I am so happy about it. Because there is, indeed, lots to discover and unpack in this wonderful and unsettling thing that is 'Everything is Fine', so we need as many new chapters as we can get.
I, for one, will never hear the cliché phrase again without feeling a shudder running down my spine. But who doesn't love some framing the neighbors plot, and a brewing rebellion that will sure give us a lot to worry about in the future?
I might still be slightly confused about the whole red status thing, especially seen that it doesn't seem to imply death for the subject, just some kind of ostracism that has never been well defined. But the fact that Charlie is still around, just adds some extra spice to the mix, so bring it on.
This graphic novel is just horribly delightful, and I am still loving it.
WOW! I was approved a copy of V1 on NetGalley and had no idea what I was gonna get into. The first chapters were awesome but when I found out I could continue the series through webtoon I just couldn't resist.
Honestly it's a totally different experience, the scrolling type of read made the read way more tense and the whole story made so much more sense. It is supposed to be read in this way, so reading it as a standard graphic novel part took some essence away.
I loved that we got a few chapters with music, it add something more to the atmosphere. With this volume we reach the end of S1 and let me tell you, I'll definitely continue right away with it because there's all the material to get a whole new level story!
This is one of my favorite webcomics, so when I saw that it was being made in print, I snatched it up! It's a horror graphic novel filled with gore, surveillance cameras, cat heads on human bodies, and violence. Sam & Maggie live a perfect life in a perfect neighborhood with a perfect dog. Maggie has been cracking under the pressure lately. People who rebel are made red-status and wiped from memory, but that's not enough to deter Maggie from her plans. When she reaches her breaking point, she and Sam must learn how to trust each other again if they have any chance to survive. - Stephanie, Information Services Librarian
I have read quite far into this on Webtoons and I am really looking forward to adding physical copies to my collection. This series is SO GOOD. Like, the scariest, creepiest, most unsettling graphic novel I have ever read. Mike Birchall is a master at cute characters and horrifying settings/events. I am very much looking forward to what comes next.
This continues to be a wonderfully creepy enigma. We get an answer to a suspicion I had since the previous volume, adding some depth to these characters and the desperation they feel. The world finally expands beyond one neighborhood, and I look forward to seeing what develops.
I knew from the end of the first season (first volume) that at some point they would meet their neighbor again. That makes me happy.
Didn’t expect that argument between Sam and his wife... But I'm really asking myself: who is right? But I suppose I will have to wait for the next season.
The more I read, the more it gets interesting... and twisted. I usually never read/watch horror, but I'm so glad I made an exception for this comic.
🐱 It has those Orwell's 1984 vibes that I love, cotton candy drawings, everyone wears these creepy cat masks that hide their facial expressions, and when I get attached to a character, he brutally dies in the next chapter.
