Boulder Creek #2

All She Ever Dreamed

A dream sometimes comes at great cost.

Betrothed in a sensible match, even if the man isn’t the love she’s always imagined, Sarah McNeal relies on the advice her late grandmother gave as well as her own common sense. Dreams of a mysterious European count who rides in and sweeps her off her feet are the stuff of girlhood. And she’s a woman now. But when her fiancé’s older brother, Jeremiah, returns to Boulder Creek, he unknowingly awakens that discarded dream.

Nine years ago, Jeremiah West lost his wife and newborn son in an epidemic, and he’s been wandering ever since. A survivor of the Spanish-American War, he finally returns to Boulder Creek to settle on the farm he inherited from his father, an inheritance his younger brother still begrudges.

When a blizzard threatens Sarah’s life—and her reputation—Jeremiah is there to rescue her. But the pain of his past remains a stumbling block. Then fate brings Jeremiah and Sarah to a crossroads, and love demands a decision that will change the course of their lives.

A trip back to Boulder Creek, Idaho in the late 1800's brings an emotional story of attraction that leads to a romance and love that is sweet and tender but not without its trials. I enjoyed visiting this small town again with its closeness among townsfolk and their strength in dealing with the ups and downs of life. The main characters are likable, realistic, and well developed. I was drawn into the story from the beginning until the end. This is a story of faith and trust that those who enjoy historical romance will enjoy.

'I reckon we haven't talked much lately, Lord. Maybe it's time we did.'

I've been reading Robin Lee Hatcher's work a very long time, and I am a big fan. She gives us an historical Christian fiction novel here, set in 1898, and it's very good. Sometimes things you think are God's will actually aren't and he places the right thing in your path. Then you must have the courage to take that path. Well written with good characters and a good plot, this one is a keeper. Recommended.

My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is my own.

Robin Lee Hatcher is always an auto-buy for me and this book is no exception. Another tender, touching story of not merely the love between a man and a woman, but the love a caring community has for one another. I fear our world has lost that ability to surrender and sacrifice for each other, but books like this are a wonderful reminder of a time when people were truly willing to give of themselves for the greater good. May those who read this story come away encouraged that it's not too late for God's love to make a difference in lives!

Robin Lee Hatcher has done it again!! All She Ever Dreamed is a keeper!! The setting is Idaho, 1898. Sarah is a young woman getting ready to marry a man she's been keeping company with. Only thing missing is love. Her grandmother says love will come in time. Then her intended's older brother comes back to town after being gone for many years. Sarah is instantly drawn to Jerimiah who has lost his wife and son due to illness. Sarah realizes no matter the future she can't marry a man she doesn't love. That is all I will say as the author tells the story much better than I could. If you like historical romance, it is a must read. It will be available December 5,2022. 2022. You could probably pre-order it sooner. I received this book as an advanced copy reader. I was under no obligation to review it. All opinins are my own.

I always know when I sit down to read a book by Robin Lee Hatcher, soon I’ll be taken away to another place and time. This enthralling story was no exception. It was easy to imagine Boulder Creek, Idaho, near the end of 1898 through the vivid and colorful description of the town and their residents. This is Boulder Creek Romance Book Two.

Sarah and Tom McNeal were mostly raised by their grandparents and now they only live with their 74-year-old grandfather, Hank McNeal who is also the Sheriff of Boulder Creek. Tom has just returned home from 3 years at boarding school and will be leaving later in the following year to attend medical school. Although Sarah is engaged, she is dreamer and imagines what it would be like to visit exciting places like New York, Philadelphia, and even far away foreign lands.

After being away for 14 years, Jeremiah West also returns home to the farm where he grew up. He now owns the farm, having inherited it at the death of his father. Jeremiah comes home with a heavy heart having suffered a tremendous loss. He questions if he even should have retuned to his hometown. His younger brother Warren, who is engaged to Sarah McNeal is not happy about the farm being left to Jeremiah. He rationalizes that he stuck around, and Jeremiah left. Because it is winter and he can’t farm the land yet, Jeremiah accepts the job as Deputy, offered to him by Sheriff Hank.

The telling of this story is masterful. I loved the comprehensive descriptions of the people, the situations, and locations. It made me feel like I was right there, part of the story. There are many unexpected complications and situations, including a frightening influenza outbreak, a devastating blizzard, and the happy occasion of a newborn horse, known as a foal.

The struggles of some of the characters are very real as well as their consequences. I loved how beautifully the importance of faith and putting our trust in God, rather than ourselves was woven into this heartwarming story. When the last page was turned, I didn’t want the story to end. I paused and thought back of the journey each of the main characters took to end up right where God intended them to be.

I loved this story! A historical romance set in Idaho, the story brings people back from an extended absence with plenty of hurts and others with selfish ambition. This story shows how trust in God gets you through the trials.

Lovely! Words that hurt us in childhood, sometimes stay in our minds and hearts way too long, and add to our making wrong choices. God's love can turn such hurts around, if we go to His word and to Him in prayer.
Furthermore, we often do not say the things we ought, the truth, but rather keep silent.
Nevertheless, God's plans will prevail, as it does in this sweet novel.

I cannot put into words how much I loved this story! There are so many messages to take away from it! Sometimes people are put in your path for various reasons. There are multiple instances of this in this story. I've seen this in my own life, so I know it's true! Jeremiah has had some tribulations in his life. His father rode in hard when he was growing up but, in the end, he left him the family farm. He doesn't understand this. It should have gone to his brother Warren. Warren stayed in town, but Jeremiah left while eloping with his young bride after his father didn't want him to marry her. After she died, Jeremiah drifted around for years but finally decided to come home. Warren is very bitter but is engaged to Sarah, a woman who really doesn't love him. I found this interesting! I loved Sarah's character and couldn't figure out why she would be engaged to Warren when all of their interactions were negative! It was clear that Warren would not make a good husband! Something happens when she first meets Jeremiah though - a spark! She doesn't know what to do about it! I loved the way the relationship between Sarah and Jeremiah unfolded because Jeremiah was dead set on never marrying again and Sarah didn't know what to do about Warren! Then, there are the wonderful townspeople. The author spent a lot of time making us love this town of Boulder Creek and the people. I miss the days when people cared that much for their neighbors. This is a wonderful story and I'll not forget the characters anytime soon!

Sarah is 21 years old and her 22nd birthday is coming up. She's agreed to marry Warren even though she doesn't love him. She wants to travel the world, but she loves her hometown in ID. Jeremiah left Boulder Creek 14 years before. His wife died and baby died and he's been wandering ever since. He felt God telling him it was time to go home. Warren doesn't want anything to do with his big brother, Jeremiah. Sarah realizes that she can't marry Warren. After Jeremiah shows up, Warren's feelings of anger and bitterness surface. Sweet book. Sarah is so sweet and kind. A friend to everyone. Jeremiah must learn to surrender control to God and trust.

If you like to read about 19th century villagers and sheriffs, with good biblical teachings, you should buy and read this book. Be aware, you will lose some sleep because you will not stop reading till you reach the end. Then, you'll regret you have to say goodbye to Sarah McNeal and Jeremiah West. They have become your best friends. Again a good, typical book of Robin Lee Hatcher. Good job, Robin. I can't wait for your next book.
I got this as an ARC from the author.

Robin Lee Hatcher has become one of my all time favorites, and I always look forward to reading her new book releases. She's definitely a master at the dual timeline stories that I love so much, but I was looking forward to reading something a bit different from her. All She Ever Dreamed is the second title in the Boulder Creek Romance series, and it's a wonderful historical fiction story that speaks of trusting God through all the circumstances we face, and knowing that He has a plan in place for each and every one of us.

As readers travel back to Boulder Creek, we're introduced to a young twenty one year old woman named Sarah. She's long had the dream of being swept off of her feet by a handsome gentlemen who will love her the same way her grandpa so faithfully loved her grandmother. However, she's engaged to be married to a man who doesn't seem like anything she's been dreaming of, but everyone encourages her that love can grow. When her fiancé's older brother (Jeremiah) returns to his hometown, he feels an instant connection with the lovely granddaughter of the local sheriff. However, with bad blood already coming between him and his younger brother, he knows that forming a friendship with his fiancé will only cause additional problems with the relationship he longs to mend. However, God often has plans bigger than our own, and if Jeremiah and Sarah can learn to lean on Him and trust Him through anything, they might just find a way to move past their difficult pasts, and into their own happily ever after.

Robin Lee Hatcher is truly a masterful storyteller, and I love how she is able to fully immerse her reader's in each and every story she writes. Boulder Creek was a lovely small town setting, and showcased both the good and the bad that comes with making a small town your home.

One of my favorite things about picking up a book by this author is knowing that the faith element will always play an integral part of the story. While the romance was heartwarming, clean and swoon worthy, it was the faith element that truly made Sarah and Jeremiah's story stand out in my mind, and I loved how it came across as both authentic and realistic.

If you love Christian historical fiction that tugs at the heartstrings and is filled with characters that love the Lord and acknowledge they are all works in progress, then definitely pick up All She Ever Dreamed. It's another wonderful story from one of the genres best, and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much to Robin Lee Hatcher for allowing me to advance read and review this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

What a beautiful story! I wasn’t sure where she was going with it but I have to say it was just wonderful when all pieces came together. Robin Lee Hatcher has such a gift when it comes to describing emotions and the inner wrestling of flesh and spirit. I loved returning to Boulder Creek after reading the first book in this series and I thoroughly enjoyed Sarah’s and Jeremiah’s story! It made me laugh and it made me cry and the more I read it, the more frequently it put a smile on my face. I didn’t want it to end. It’s that kind of book that warms your heart and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes a clean, sweet love story that also shows the creativity of the Lord when He puts people together. The perfect book to read next to the fire place, with a cup of hot chocolate in reach! Enjoy!

Robin Lee Hatcher is one of my favorite authors, because she writes clean, sweet stories. This was a simple story, but made you want to keep reading. It’s not heavy and a great escape from reality. I didn’t read the first in the series and the story was still very enjoyable. It’s not intense and there’s nothing earth shattering, but it leaves you feeling happy.

I was blessed to receive this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This is a great story with a powerful message! God plans for Sarah were not at all what she expected, but she got all she ever dreamed. Sometimes we think someone wants all these huge things, when maybe the person just wants our love and trust. Very well done!

Another sweet story from an amazing author. This book will hook you from the first chapter and keep you wondering how the story will end up, as it twists and turns through an even more relevant-to-today flu pandemic. I fell in love with the characters right away and thoroughly enjoyed journeying with them as they questioned long-held beliefs, learned they are NOT the choices they make/have made, and came to a place of peace and joy. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting a sweet story of love and finding peace in the midst of storms. I received this book as an Advanced Reading Copy from the author and just realized it’s the 2nd book in the series so I’m off to read the first book now! Read this book, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Sarah McNeal spends her days tending to the needs of her grandfather and brother. In her free time, Sarah travels the world and falls in love with a nobleman riding a magnificent horse through reading.

Fourteen years after leaving Boulder Creek, Jeremiah West returns to town to run the family farm his father has left to him. Feeling as if he failed his wife and child, Jeremiah has no plans to marry again.

When Sarah opens the door to a handsome stranger (Jeremiah), she finds her future nearer than she ever dreamed.

All She Ever Dreamed is Book 2 of the Boulder Creek series by Robin Lee Hatcher. I liked this Christian historical romance. Sarah and Jeremiah’s story was sweet and heartwarming. The author showed how without trust in God, you have nothing.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review. I purchased a Kindle edition as well.

I received an advance reader copy of All She Ever Dreamed from author, Robin Lee Hatcher… and I loved it. Robin Lee Hatcher was one of the first Christian authors I discovered when I determined that the books in my collection were not healthy for my faith. I’m pretty sure I have read everything she’s ever written. It is a joy to review this most recent book. Ms. Hatcher’s writing style puts me right into the heart of the story. And the main characters right into my heart.

All She Ever Dreamed is the second book of the Boulder Creek series, and can be read as a stand-alone. But don’t. Read the first book, Even Forever, if you can. It will greatly enrich your reading of this second book.

Sarah has dreamed big exciting cities of the world and being rescued by a knight in shining armor since she could read. She dreams of leaving Boulder Creek, Idaho in search of adventure. But that hasn’t happened. On the verge of becoming a “spinster”, she has finally accepted the annual proposal of Warren.

Jeremiah, Warren’s older brother, spent his youth being demeaned and belittled by his cold and distant father. Additionally, he believes it is his fault that his wife and infant son died in an epidemic. He has spent the nine years since then travelling and working odd jobs. He eventually joins the army and fights in Teddy Roosevelt’s Spanish-American War. He is very surprised when he is notified that he has inherited his father’s farm. He decides to return to Boulder Creek and the farm after 14 years away.

Of all the characters in the book, I related to Jeremiah the most. He is a good man. An honest man. One of my favorite lines in the book is from him: 'I reckon we haven't talked much lately, Lord. Maybe it's time we did.' There have been times in my life when I could say the same.

The story starts in winter, and the land is too frozen to plow. So, Jeremiah applies for the currently open position of Deputy to Sheriff Hank, Sarah’s grandfather. Sheriff Hank so obviously loves Sarah and her brother Tom. He is so wise and loving.

There is a whole lot more that happens, like an influenza outbreak and a life-threatening blizzard, but I can’t tell you any more. For fear of spoilers. And I don’t do spoilers. Robin Lee Hatcher, once more, has shown us that giving God control of our lives is always the best choice.

I'd like to give this a 4.5 star because it is a very nice story about good people. Sara and Jeremiah are the main characters, but the other people in the story are filled out too - like Tom and Grandpa and Warren, with others less so. It's the 1800s out west. Sara is engaged to Warren because it just seemed inevitable. Sara dreamed of more, but felt like such dreams just don't come true. After all, Warren is a good man. Then, in rides Warren's older brother Jeremiah after wandering the earth for a number of years and experiencing a number of heart breaks. You can imagine where I'm going with this. A number of things happen in the book to keep it interesting and there is even a twist that I did not expect that moved the action along. There is also a Christian element to the story, which I very much like. My only negative is that we heard similar thoughts going through their heads over and over just a bit too much. Nonetheless, I liked the story and characters and, of course, the end.

Jeremiah has been gone from Boulder Creek for 14 years. Nine years ago he lost his wife and infant son in an epidemic. He vowed to himself that he would never again marry. Sarah is engaged to his younger brother, Warren. She is not anxious to be wed, but the time is quickly approaching. As in these times, there is a blizzard in which Sarah is lost and then she survives a flu outbreak. A heartwarming story of the trials of the time and how by working together and relying on God they can survive. Do yourself a favor and read this one!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

A broken man comes back home and finds a second chance at love.

Loved being with this author again. Jeremiah and Sarah story was a slow burning love story. Both knew they couldn't be together at first because of Jeremiah brother Warren. But that all changed when Sarah had second thoughts about her engagement to Warren. He didn't love her and just wanted to have a pretty bobble on his arm. He was jealous and angry with Jeremiah and that never changed. A unforseen moment brought Jeremiah and Sarah together and their love grew. Even her brother Tom found love too. Will read more by this author.

A Beautiful Story

Thank you Robin Hatcher for this lovely story. The words must flowed from page to page. My interest was caught from page one to the end. I always appreciate when a writer brings in faith and scriptures into a story. Even though I have been a Christian for many years, and have memorized scriptures, I get excited to read a verse from a different translation or in modern language.
This story just flowed right from the start. It was as though I was right there in the rooms as they talked.
I hope there is a 3rd book to follow. God has given you an amazing talet.

I should have known from the cover what I was getting. And I did know, but I hoped anyway for a fun escape to another place and time that might be romantic, without being cheesy...

Alas. SO cheesy. The characters were also cardboard, with occasional scripture references that feel forced and don't really fit the story. Also, nothing was happening. Maybe this is the genre, but we went back and forth between Sarah and Jeremiah's perspective, each pining for the other in alternating chapters. I stuck it out longer than I probably should have.

Good

A really well done story of a couple of brothers that reflect the "prodigal son" example in the Bible? One stayed and bitter. One left and wracked by loss and guilt. The characters, the town, the story line, is excellent! Love how God changes the lives of those that are willing. Is true-to-life. Enjoyed every minute of this book. The faith issues just add a further level of enjoyment. Felt good when finished reading it. Satisfying.
