I love to cook, whether its a simple chutney or a complicated recipe. I have been greatly inspired by my mum’s cooking who has taught me everything I know about flavours.
I trained as a fashion designer in Mumbai and moved to Broadstairs in Kent in 2003. I have always loved cooking but after having my 2 children I found my interest in baking grow. I am a creative yet meticulous baker, and find baking a perfect outlet for my creativity.
Trying out new techniques and challenging myself is what keeps me going. Being on Great British Bake Off 2014 has been an amazing journey and has given me the confidence to try new combinations of flavours. I will always cherish this experience and the time I spent in the tent with my fellow bakers.
This is an unfamiliar cuisine for me as far as cooking goes. Although I am familiar with the food. These recipes are easy to follow and all of them came out (it was a relief since I was cooking for friends). The meal plans came in very handy - you can pick one to come up with a meal where everything works.
BTW - I do not put cookbooks in for ratings until have actually used the recipes.
My exposure to Chetna’s other books has been via the library. I have loved them all—her recipes have infiltrated my daily cooking. They have given me so much that the least I could do is pre-order her latest book, sight unseen.
No disappointments! I’ve already made the Onion Yogurt Paneer (A+) and will eventually cook nearly everything else. I was concerned that “Feasts” meant the recipes were scaled to large quantities, but they are not! Most recipes serve 4 and there’s a chapter for cooking for 2. Also a chapter of all Chaat, for those that may have enjoyed her earlier book on that topic.
Beautiful food, I want to eat absolutely all of it, but I want someone else to find all the spices and cook it for me. There are a couple recipes I am about to try, but in all honesty, I would not buy it for my kitchen, I will just keep hoping for an Indian restaurant in my area someday….and will keep searching out amazing restaurants on my travels where I can try all of these delicious recipes.

This cookbook has a wide variety of delicious recipes! If you are worried that creating feasts sounds time-consuming, fear not. There is a section of 30 minute recipes. There's also a section of recipes with two portions, and a chaat recipe. Basically, it's a very flexible cookbook that anyone can use to create a meal that fits your needs. The photos are beautiful.
