Collision Course

Rate this book
A last-minute Guild delivery, a cursed treasure, and a nefarious revenge scheme sets Rory on a collision course with one of Arcane’s most wanted mages.

When the Arcane Guild requests a last-minute delivery run from Transporter, Rory Costas, she figures earning some extra cash is better than spending her evening binging another DIY show or dodging the pesky Chipmunk Mafia. After handing off a unique engagement present to a happy, well-connected Arcane couple, she returns to what she believes is business as usual, only to encounter a series of unexplained hazards that have her jumping at shadows.

With her business picking up speed, the last thing she expected was to have a formidable member of the Arcane Council drag her into an informal investigation of a horrific accident. Now, with the sexy and intimidating Arbiter, Zev Aslanov, riding shotgun, she’ll have to wade through a mix-bag of money woes, broken hearts, and a legacy of cursed treasure to uncover the truth of what drove a romantic celebration to veer into tragedy.

In her race to expose the vindictive heart at the center of the Family drama, can Rory avoid the inevitable collision with one of the Arcane’s most notorious mages?

Buckle up and find out in this adrenaline-charged urban fantasy continuation of the Arcane Transporter series!

This has become a series where I am just devouring each book. Love the arcane world the author has built, and Rory is a fantastic and interesting character. Really enjoyed seeing Rory and Zev interact with one another now that they have fallen in love, but at the same time they are badass arcane mages who have to try to solve a murder on behalf of the Arcane Council. I missed the sharpness of Sabella in this book though and the mystery was not quite as on point as in the prior books, so not my favorite of the series. But that setup at the end was great and I’m very excited to see where the hunt for the Heretic will lead in the next book. 4.5 stars.

"Collision Course" is another great installment in the Arcane Transporter series. Rory accepts a job with the Guild at the last minute to deliver a time sensitive package to a man at his engagement party in Sedona. Upon verifying the contents of the package it seems that is is a pair of antique glasses rumored to be the only way to read a treasure map leading to the gold rumored to long ago buried on Native American lands in the Arizona desert.

Soon after the delivery odd things begin happening to Rory. She begins having wicked nightmares and even see Bryan, an Arbiter who was killed on one of her cases. With a little help from her friends she is finally able locate a curse on her that arrived shortly after she made contact with the magical spectacles. Unfortunately, the man and his girlfriend get into an accident that the police think was a suicide attempt. Maximiliano Vazquez's aunt is Christina Vasquez who is a city councilwoman. She will not allow him to be defamed over what she is sure is a murder attempt on her nephew's life. Max's fiancee, Devon, dies in the wreckage while he is in an induced coma. Christina asks Rory and Zev to investigate the accident.

During the investigation, Rory and Zev encounter of magically induced traps. They seem lead to a Arcane fundamentalist zealot, Jayson Guzman. Unfortunately, he is a slippery little sucker who seems to evade their attempts to capture/question him. One thing for sure, Jayson is not working alone which brings up to the read antagonist in this story, an underground hitman who is capable of making dreams into nightmare. His name, The Heretic. Zev is bound and determine to hunt him down and bring him before the Council. The Heretic is bound and determine to eliminate the threat. Hmmmmmm, this definitely promises danger for our character in upcoming installments.

This installment didn't have as much action as the previous three books but it did improve in the romance aspect of the storyline. This was a major sticking point for me in the last book. While the stories still lack depth it does deliver some complexities. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Stale course

This book just didn't hit the same as the others. I felt it was kind of a weird leap to have Lena and Zev saying I love yous when we were just getting to their actual 4 date last book. I get it but if just didn't jive the way things were written. Their relationship also felt off, the Zev in this book seemed a softer version to the one from the last book.

That being said, I think the storyline is a bit predictable, and I think i know who the heretic key is. It's a little obvious once you go by Cass's description and replay how things went in the beginning for Rory. I'm still interested in seeing how the next book plays out though.

Waiting For The Next Book

Just pre-ordered book five. Love the characters and plot lines. Really like the different Arcane Family connections. Hope the next book isn’t the end of the series.

Solid

Rory gets sucks into another murder and mystery. Zev and Lena are on hand to help out. I liked the glimpses of domestic bliss now Rory and Zev are officially a couple. The story felt a little obvious.

An excellent read

I'm so glad this author continued this series as I really enjoyed the first three books in this series. It was great to see where the characters are at and as usual a murder mystery to solve. Highly recommend.

2 stars. The dullest book in an average series. This felt like a bridge book. The ending isn’t a cliffhanger but it doesn’t wrap up in the end. More of a to be continued…

I still have some issues with the way the magical system is set up in this series, but at least the plots of each book are entertaining and the books itself are easy to read.
I wasn't sure how the series would evolve after the way in which the last book ended, so now I'm very curious on how this new side plot will be tackled.
