Personajes estereotipados, TEA y TOC que ya no sorprende, sin apenas trabajo policial, predecible, mucho relleno sin sentido, demasiado largo.

The shocking murder of young single mum Tova trapped inside a magicians box and pierced with swords, brings together germophobe Detective Mina Dabiri who consults with master mentalist Vincent Walder to give insights into his world. The countdown is on to stop three more murders.
First of all, the characterisation of Mina and Vincent is very good, they're a quirky combination but it works well and an unlikely friendship forms. There are a LOT of characters to wade through although I guess that is inevitable with a plot that seems to span the length of War and Peace. The premise and plot are good, it's well thought out but in all honesty it meanders willy nilly and thus loses a lot of the thriller and shock element. I really do like the magic/mentalist element which is an unusual, welcome and original slant to the novel as it presents the team with a massive challenge interpreting the messages and codes in a sick jigsaw of an investigation.
The novel takes elements from both writers so we get a domestic family drama especially with Vincent and wife Maria (what a pain she is!), to tension and suspense with a large dash of horror especially at the end, a smidgen of romance, a sprinkling of the downright weird and a soupcon of humour albeit Scandi style. It's a lengthy journey to get to a tense and scary ending although it's easy to guess the perpetrator because it just had to be.
There's a lot that's good but, and it's a big BUT it's just sooooo long, some of it is completely unnecessary (self indulgent???) and so it drags in places and you need stamina to get through it. Does the collaboration work? The jury is out but hopefully if there's a second novel Camilla Lackberg can influence a tighter plot, more reminiscent of her own books.

Empecé este libro muy emocionada por cómo se estaban desarrollando los asesinatos y la investigación, además la figura del mentalista me ha gustado mucho ya que da a la historia un punto más psicológico.
Para mi gusto la investigación se detiene en numerosas ocasiones, dedicando parte del libro a explicar la vida de los investigadores, eso hace que se pierda el hilo de la investigación. Hay demasiadas páginas en las que no ocurre nada.
Hay una parte del pasado, que cuenta la historia de un niño, esa parte me ha gustado mucho y también me ha sorprendido.
Tengo que decir que al final no lo esperaba así que se lleva más puntuación per ello.
En definitiva es un buen Thriller pero con un ritmo pausado, hasta que no llegas a las últimas páginas no sientes la tensión que se suele sentir en los thrillers.

Skaitosi tarsi romanas su detektyvo priemaišom. Net buvo kilusi mintis, kad tyrėjai ir sviestą sumušti galėtų, kur jau ten tokiais tempais surasti nusikaltėlius😀 Ypač kuomet pripranti prie Marson, Carrisi "antgamtinių" galių🙈
Bet...negaliu pasipriešinti istorijos tėkmei, kad ir koks tempas būtų. Skaičiau susidomėjus. Minos ir Vincento charakterių išskirtinumas, taip pat davė tam įtakos. Autoriai giliai pasikapstė sukurdami personažus.
Pliusas už istoriją.
Riebus pliusas už sukurtus ir atskleistus charakterius (Mina ir Vincentas). Retame trileryje taip ryškiai nupiešiami pagrindiniai veikėjai!
Bet o tačiau, riebus minusas už tai, kad charakteriai piešiami reikia ar nereikia😀 Ir tai yra viena iš priežasčių, kodėl skaitome ne 300, o 600 puslapių. Ir nuoširdžiai, buvo etapų, kuomet sau sakiau:"pavargau"! Bet ne nuo istorijos, o tiesiog nuo pačio skaitymo proceso :) Ir panašu, kad naują Minos ir Vincento istoriją tikrai skaitysiu:)

It reads like a novel with a touch of detective. There even came an idea that the investigators could beat the butter, while they will reach result, moving at such a pace 😀 Especially when you get used to the "supernatural" powers of Marson, Carrisi🙈
But...I can't resist to the flow of the story no matter the pace. I read with high interest. The uniqueness of the characters of Mina and Vincent also influenced it. The authors dug deep in creating the characters.

Despite the length of the book I enjoyed every minute of it. I am a huge fan of Camilla Lackberg. This was a stand alone story but I do believe there will be a sequel which I will be very keen to read.
Julia Hammarsten heads up a special unit within the Stockholm police force that focuses on unusual cases or those requiring specific skills. The team comprises Mina Dabiri, Ruben Höök, Christer Bengtsson and Peder Jensen. Their first case is a gruesome and very unusual killing of a young woman who has been put into a box and run through with 3 swords, similar to a magician’s trick except for the deadly outcome!
Although everybody plays a part in this increasingly bizarre case it is Mina who is one of the lead protagonists. The other is Vincent Walder, a mentalist whom she recruits as a consultant. Vincent is extremely observant and has a great working knowledge of how many of the magic ‘tricks’ are performed. He is also a bit of a walking encyclopaedia. It is Vincent who notices some strange little cuts on the woman’s leg. Nobody thought much of it but he interpreted it as the Roman numeral III. It is also Vincent who identifies the nature of a previous death that had been wrongly assumed to be a suicide and, on finding the numeral VI on the body, assumes it is a countdown. Clearly there are more deaths to come.
The two main characters were wonderfully portrayed. Both of them a little socially awkward but they seem to click really well together. Vincent is obsessed with numbers and rituals and Mina is a germophobe of the highest order. While others mock her, Vincent is sympathetic to her foibles. The two become very close and you start to wonder if there will be some romance.
We also get flashbacks from 1982, insights into a dysfunctional family that suffered a great tragedy.
Vincent is convinced the solution lies in numbers and he becomes obsessed with trying to pick the pattern. Yet by now the rest of the team is questioning Vincent’s theories and some are even wondering if he could be the killer. After all, he knows all about these tricks!
Yet as the story progresses you become convinced the answers lie in the past and that something truly awful is about to happen. The pace is steady throughout until it starts to gallop towards the finish. There is a sense of impending doom through the whole story. I thought it was totally immersive and brilliantly plotted with many moving parts that the author kept skilfully in play. I found it highly entertaining. 750 de pagini în puțin peste 24h
Da, am pus viața pe pauză pentru cartea asta pentru că m-a captat instant și a știut să îmi mențină interesul la cote maxime.
Avem crime care poartă amprenta unor numere de magie cu sfârșit tragic și detalii foarte șocante și o echipă de oameni aflați în căutarea făptașului.
Unul dintre membrii echipei este un așa zis mentalist care face ancheta suuuper interesantă și intensă.
Pe lângă suspans și multele detalii din anchetă, mi-au plăcut mult personajele.
Da, am pus viața pe pauză pentru cartea asta pentru că m-a captat instant și a știut să îmi mențină interesul la cote maxime.

Mi opinión sobre este libro se resumen en una palabra: decepcionante.
Hace años que me enganché a la serie de Fjällbacka de Camilla Läckberg. Me encanta su mezcla de novela negra y humor, con un toque familiar, y aunque el último libro de la serie hasta ahora, La bruja, se salía bastante de este tono y pasaba ya a tonos más serios y no tan "ligeros", me gustó y estaba esperando su próximo libro. Ya el cambio de registro que hizo con La jaula de oro me resultó chocante; aunque me gustó, me costó entrar en esa historia de retorcida venganza tras esperarme un libro tipo los anteriores.
Cuando salió este libro dije: date, otro libro de Camilla. No será de Fjalbacka, seguramente ni tendrá el mismo tono, pero Camilla es un éxito seguro. Seguro que me gusta.... Pues no, no me ha gustado, me ha resultado aburrido, cansino; no por el caso en sí, que tiene enjundia, sino por todo el contexto y la paja que le ha metido. Más del 50% del libro se centra en los problemas de Mina y Vincent, y me quedo corta en el porcentaje.
AVISO: puede considerarse spoiler, no en la trama pero sí en el desarrollo de los personajes.
Por lo pronto ya está muy trillado que uno de los personajes tenga un trastorno de la personalidad (mis disculpas si no se expresa así), pero es que en este libro son dos los personajes con distintos trastornos: Vincent, el mentalista, es autista (¿Asperger?), con un lío familiar que ni en una telenovela, y Mina, la policía, tiene un TOC, una fobia tan terrible a los gérmenes que ni de coña ha podido superar las pruebas de acceso en la academia. Que me expliquen como llegó a inspectora.
Pues buena parte del libro se centra en la fobia de Mina, el autismo y su falta de conexión familiar de Vincent. Y leer páginas tras página de contexto de personajes resulta muy cansino.
Si además introduces escenas que no son nada creíbles, ya apaga y vámonos. ¿Una policía hablando por teléfono de un caso de asesinato delante de un montón de gente desconocida en un centro cívico? ¿Le hablan de un mentalista y se presenta a reclutarle sin más, sobre todo cuando la que lo recomienda es una desconocida que ha escuchado tu conversación? ¿Le presenta el caso, con fotos de los crímenes incluidas, en un restaurante abarrotado de gente?
Aunque el caso que investigan sí es interesante, aunque el final no es tan sorprendente, el meter tanta "paja" por medio me ha hecho perder el interés, y el libro se me ha hecho larguísimo.

Por lo pronto ya está muy trillado que uno de los personajes tenga un trastorno de la personalidad (mis disculpas si no se expresa así), pero es que en este libro son dos los personajes con distintos trastornos: Vincent, el mentalista, es autista (¿Asperger?), con un lío familiar que ni en una telenovela, y Mina, la policía, tiene un TOC, una fobia tan terrible a los gérmenes que ni de coña ha podido superar las pruebas de acceso en la academia. Que me expliquen como llegó a inspectora.
Pues buena parte del libro se centra en la fobia de Mina, el autismo y su falta de conexión familiar de Vincent. Y leer páginas tras página de contexto de personajes resulta muy cansino.
Si además introduces escenas que no son nada creíbles, ya apaga y vámonos. ¿Una policía hablando por teléfono de un caso de asesinato delante de un montón de gente desconocida en un centro cívico? ¿Le hablan de un mentalista y se presenta a reclutarle sin más, sobre todo cuando la que lo recomienda es una desconocida que ha escuchado tu conversación? ¿Le presenta el caso, con fotos de los crímenes incluidas, en un restaurante abarrotado de gente?
Aunque el caso que investigan sí es interesante, aunque el final no es tan sorprendente, el meter tanta "paja" por medio me ha hecho perder el interés, y el libro se me ha hecho larguísimo.

This was the 13th book by Camilla Läckberg that I read so far. She is one of my favourite authors.
A body trapped inside a magician’s box makes detective Mina Dabiri consult the celebrity mentalist Vincent Walter, who can provide insights into the world of magic and illusions. Soon they discover that they are dealing with a serial killer.
Trapped left me with a dual feeling.
The book has innovative moments in describing a lot of details about a magician's profession. It has a lot of twists and unexpected events. Both main characters are unusual and have their problems and fears in their lives.
But the book looks a bit rushed, reading doesn't go smoothly. It is "unbrushed". Could be that this feeling comes from the fact that I didn't read the original, but a translated variant.
Anyway, I would like to read this series continuation and see how this collaboration and friendship is going to develop in the future.

It took me far to long for me to finish this book. It felt way to long and at times I just wasn't intrigued to pick it back up but the last few chapters was what evoked the 4 star rating. I was completely hooked and it was hard to put down and definitely wasn't difficult to find energy to pick it back up and finish it. The ending wasn't revolutionary in terms of crime novels but it fit the story perfectly and I can't see any other ending that would fit as perfect. I loved that they showed backstory and even if it was sad to read it definitely added to the ending. The start and middle wasn't as good but definitely wasn't bad. One of the better Swedish crime novels I've read. Read a bunch some time ago then got really bored by them but maybe this is a sign to pick more up

Hay dos subtramas que están puestas para llevar al lector hacia algo y que luego dejan en el aire y que nada aportan... conclusión, relleno de páginas.
Bueno:
Me ha gustado que se vayan dejando pistas y que el lector descubra las cosas un poco antes que los personajes.
La parte de psicología y análisis del comportamiento también me ha gustado.
Está bastante entretenido a pesar de tantísimo relleno, y eso me basta.
Al tocho este le sobran sin dudar al menos 300 páginas.

Da, da, da! Așa thrillere să tot găsești. Numere de magie eșuate intenționat, folosite ca acoperire pentru niște crime oribile. Un mentalist obsedat de cifre și de potrivirea lor. O polițistă riguroasă pentru care microbii și mizeria sunt cel mai mare coșmar. Doi ciudați care fac o echipă "delicioasă" în descoperirea criminalului.
Mi-a plăcut mult! A fost o combinație între "Omul de castane" și cărțile din seria Fabian Risk. A avut și un final perfect. Nu aș fi ghicit niciodată cine e vinovat.
Acum abia aștept să se traducă volumul 2! 🙈

Pretty stereotypical, shallow and messy. Characters are described in different manner (consequence of two writers, perhaps). Police work is almost non-existent and I guessed who the perpetrator is at the beginning of the book.
It seems that more than solving the mistery, matters the importance of personal specialties and phobias of Mina and Vincent and these descriptions are on every page.
And again - sexual connotations everywhere. Why? To shock the reader? Totally irrelevant.
Idea of the novel is interesting, but the execution is not on a highest level, as expected from renowned Camilla Lackberg.
Bad illusion.

Didelis, storas detektyvas, kurio pradžioj šiek tiek išsigandau. Tiksliau - išsigandau, kad toks skaičių puslapis bus nereikalingas dar vienam "žudo - gaudo - medžioja" reikaliukui. Susigundžiau dėl autorių: o jų čia net du. Vienas iš jų - Henrik Fexeus - visame pasaulyje žinomas mentalistas, kūno kalbos žinovas, ne vienos psichologinės knygos autorius. Tas žadėjo, kad ir šiame detektyve tos psichologijos bus, tad pamėginau ir nenusivyliau.
Nusikaltimai čia tikrai ne kažkokie išskirtiniai: žudikas galabija žmones pasitelkdamas magiškų triukų rekvizitus: dėže, perduriama kardais, kulka, sugaunama dantimis ir tt. Jis žudo, policija gaudo ir nesugaudo galų. Į pagalbą pasikviečiamas garsus mentalistas Vincentas, kuris turėtų pamatyt dalykus, kurių nemato policija. Jam į porą paskiriama tyrėja Mina. Ir būtent šitie du veikėjai buvo visas knygos gerumas. Autorių duetas puuuuikiai sukuria jų portretus, išskirtinimus pabrėžia, bet jais neįkyri, sudomina. Tiek Vincentas, tirk Mina turi savotiškų sutrikimų, kurie juos, kaip personažus padaro išskirtiniais. Vincentas pamišęs dėl skaičių. Ypač lyginių. Lyginis turi būt sagų skaičius, maisto gabaliukų, vandens buteliukų, žingsnių, laiptų, vardų ir panašiai. Jo dukra kartais užsimena, kad jis turi Aspergerio sindromą, bet apie tai plačiau nėra kalbama. Tuo tarpu Mina turi rimtą OCD, kuris pasireiškia nuolat viską tvarkant ir bijant bakterijų. Ji visad su savim nešiojasi dezinfekcinį skystį, šlapias servetėles, viską valo ir šveičia, net drabužius nešioja tik po vieną kartą.

Hacía tiempo que no leía a Camilla Läckberg. Las últimas entregas de la serie de Fjällbacka no me convencieron y las que publicaron fuera de esta serie las dejé pasar. "El mentalista", primer título de una trilogía escrita a cuatro manos, ha supuesto mi reencuentro con ella.
Dice la sinopsis:
En un parque de atracciones a las afueras de Estocolmo aparece el cuerpo de una joven asesinada de una forma macabra: dentro de una caja de madera atravesada por múltiples espadas.
La agente de policía de Estocolmo Mina Dabiri, reservada y metódica, forma parte del equipo especial de investigación que se hace cargo del caso. Cuando Mina agota todas las posibles pistas, recurre al conocido mentalista Vincent Walder para que los ayude a descifrar los indicios que parecen conectar el asesinato con el mundo del ilusionismo.
Mis impresiones
La novela me ha entretenido, eso es innegable. Ahora bien, ha sido un enganche desigual, no tanto por la trama en sí, como porque se pierde en detalles que le restan más que le suman.
Se desarrolla en dos planos temporales. Uno en la actualidad, que es el que predomina y otro en 1982, que aparece entremezclado, a modo de pinceladas. Junto con la trama principal varias subtramas con distinto nivel de interés. Una de ellas, directamente relacionada con Vincent y que prometía, se queda en esta entrega en agua de borrajas. Aunque no me queda claro, es de esperar que la retome en las siguientes.
El ritmo sin ser frenético, en general es ágil. Lo ralentiza la cantidad de datos innecesarios de todo tipo, que, como he dicho antes, no siempre aportan al desarrollo de la trama en sí. A veces menos es más y a este libro le sobran unas cuantas páginas.
Con respecto a los personajes, es verdad que tienen un bastante de cliché. Que sean estereotipos del género no es necesariamente malo si funcionan en el conjunto del libro. En este caso se les ha ido un poco la mano y funcionan a medias. Pese a todo me ha gustado el tándem que forman Mina y Vincent, la pareja protagonista. Creo que, si en las dos entregas restantes no exageran más la nota, puede dar mucho de sí.
Con respecto al resto del equipo, los autores se demoran en exceso en los detalles. Demasiados flahses de cada uno. Ese es otro de los aspectos que ralentizan la acción.
El final no me ha convencido del todo. En este género las casualidades siempre chirrían y a una casualidad han fiado Läckberg y Fexeus la escena clave del mismo. A su favor, que cierra la trama principal.
La vida privada de cada protagonista tiene también su peso en la trama. En esta primera quedan esbozadas las líneas generales y muchas incógnitas, que no dudo se resolverán en las dos restantes.
En conclusión, un thriller que entretiene pese a que le sobran páginas. Veremos qué tal las dos que quedan.

What can I add to all the glowing reviews? Not much, I think. I may be one of the few who likes the fact that the book is so long. I loved it. I don't think the authors could have put everything they wanted and needed to say in a standard 300 page format.
I really liked the characters of Mina and Vincent and the way their friendship grows. The plot is maybe a little over the top but still, it worked for me.
Initially I bought the book because there is talk about an illusionist/mentalist as on the main characters. I'm happy I did and I will buy the other books in this series too.
For readers who are interested in 'magic' (with a twist): read The Prestige by Priest, Christopher Reprint Edition Paperback(2005/11/29) by Christopher Priest or try and find a platform/theatre where they show the movie.

Ho pensato che Camilla Lackberg, scrittrice svedese di thriller potesse essere una buona scelta per un libro da portare in spiaggia e leggere spensieratamente sotto l’ombrellone cercando di non farmi sopraffare dalle alte temperature estive di quest’anno di grazia 2024: poi tra la pletora di romanzi scritti da questa moderna “signora del giallo” ho pensato bene di scegliere un “malloppone” di oltre settecento pagine nel quale alla moderna polizia di Stoccolma alla disperata ricerca di un assassino, a dir poco psicopatico, si associa un “mentalist” vale a dire un esperto conoscitore del linguaggio del corpo e del mondo dell’illusionismo, come dire un originale "ingrediente" nel variegato mondo del thriller. La lettura è proceduta sempre fluida e piacevolissima nonostante i morti crudelmente ammazzati secondo un rituale apparentemente inspiegabile e grazie all’intrigante intesa umana e affettiva che viene a crearsi tra il mentalist Vincent e la poliziotta Mina, cosicché alla fine le settecento pagine mi sono sembrate anche poche una volta risolto il mistero delle uccisioni mentre il rapporto fin troppo intimo tra Vincent e Mina rimanda a successivi episodi che per il momento rimando ad altri prossimi giorni ipertermici. Libro consigliato per gli amanti di questo genere tra i quali mi annoveravo anch’io fino a pochi anni fa.

Najnowszą powieścią Camilla Läckberg porzuca szydercze pióro i niejako wraca do korzeni klasycznego, tradycyjnego niemal kryminału skandynawskiego. Z małego miasteczka przenosi fabułę na miejski grunt. W końcu nowoczesny Sztokholm to uniwersalne miejskie tło o neutralnym kształcie europejskiej stolicy. Zbrodnia i pozornie anonimowe ofiary również można by odnaleźć wszędzie. Jednak diabeł tkwi tutaj w szczegółach, a te ukryte są w konstrukcji samych bohaterów. Tytułowy mentalista to mężczyzna o tragicznej historii, o skomplikowanej duszy i zagubionym charakterze, który ukrywa za metaforycznymi lustrami i dymem. Inspektorka policji pasuje do niego jak ulał – ma swoje fobie, uzależnienia, ma problemy, które potrafi zakamuflować za dopasowanym mundurkiem służbistki. Oboje są również samotni. To taki mój wyznacznik skandynawskiego charakteru – samotność, która nawet w dziki tłumie jarzy się jak pochodnia. Razem stanowią parę, która widzi więcej, czuje bardziej, potrafi wejść pod skórę zbrodni. To oczywiście jak najbardziej znajome tropy, nie tylko dla twórczości Läckberg, ale dla całego gatunku kryminału skandynawskiego.
Czy to ta sama Camilla Läckberg co kiedyś? Dzisiaj to z pewnością pisarka dojrzała, świadoma swojego pióra i umiejętności operowania w granicach literatury gatunkowej. Widać, że w duecie z Henrikiem Fexeusem bawi się świetnie i nie próbuje niczego udowadniać. „Mentalista” to powieść rozrywkowa, dopracowana od pierwszego zdania do ostatniej kropki, skrojona na miarę oczekiwań i potrzeb czytelnika. Proponowana zagadka jest na tyle pogmatwana, żeby czytelnik wytężył umysł, na tyle nieskomplikowana, by móc wpaść na jej rozwiązanie w odpowiednim czasie. Satysfakcjonuje, cieszy i daje coś w zamian. Czy spodoba się też miłośnikom specyficznego klimatu Fjallbacki? Decyzja należy do czytelników, ale można być pewnym, że Królowa Szwedzkiego Kryminału w „Mentaliście” do kryminału powraca i znów operuje w znajomym stylu w równie znajomych granicach samego gatunku. A jej duet z Henrikiem Fexeusem to dopiero początek ciekawej pisarskiej przyjaźni.

Tytułowy mentalista to mężczyzna o tragicznej historii, o skomplikowanej duszy i zagubionym charakterze, który ukrywa za metaforycznymi lustrami i dymem. Inspektorka policji pasuje do niego jak ulał – ma swoje fobie, uzależnienia, ma problemy, które potrafi zakamuflować za dopasowanym mundurkiem służbistki. Oboje są również samotni. To taki mój wyznacznik skandynawskiego charakteru – samotność, która nawet w dziki tłumie jarzy się jak pochodnia. Razem stanowią parę, która widzi więcej, czuje bardziej, potrafi wejść pod skórę zbrodni. To oczywiście jak najbardziej znajome tropy, nie tylko dla twórczości Läckberg, ale dla całego gatunku kryminału skandynawskiego.
Czy to ta sama Camilla Läckberg co kiedyś? Dzisiaj to z pewnością pisarka dojrzała, świadoma swojego pióra i umiejętności operowania w granicach literatury gatunkowej. Widać, że w duecie z Henrikiem Fexeusem bawi się świetnie i nie próbuje niczego udowadniać. „Mentalista” to powieść rozrywkowa, dopracowana od pierwszego zdania do ostatniej kropki, skrojona na miarę oczekiwań i potrzeb czytelnika. Proponowana zagadka jest na tyle pogmatwana, żeby czytelnik wytężył umysł, na tyle nieskomplikowana, by móc wpaść na jej rozwiązanie w odpowiednim czasie. Satysfakcjonuje, cieszy i daje coś w zamian. Czy spodoba się też miłośnikom specyficznego klimatu Fjallbacki? Decyzja należy do czytelników, ale można być pewnym, że Królowa Szwedzkiego Kryminału w „Mentaliście” do kryminału powraca i znów operuje w znajomym stylu w równie znajomych granicach samego gatunku. A jej duet z Henrikiem Fexeusem to dopiero początek ciekawej pisarskiej przyjaźni.

Am citit-o pentru un club de carte și mă bucur enorm că a fost propusă. Deși o aveam cumpărată de mult timp, tot amânam să o citesc, de teamă că nu s-ar ridica la nivelul celorlalte cărți ale Camillei. O teamă total absurdă; cartea asta a fost genială!
Deși are peste 700 de pagini, am savurat fiecare capitol și am descoperit câteva personaje tare interesante.
Mina face parte dintr-o echipă special creată în cadrul poliției din Stockholm care investighează crima unei femei găsită într-o cutie străpunsă cu săbii. Semănând mult cu un număr de magie care nu a funcționat ok, Mina ajunge să primească ajutorul lui Vincent Walder, un mentalist și expert în limbaj corporal și magie.
Discuțiile dintre ei, interacțiunile și traumele fiecăruia au făcut lectura cu atât mai captivantă. Iar investigarea crimei, indiciile pe care le descoperă, legăturile pe care le fac împreună și acea dezvăluire finală au ajutat la crearea unui caz incredibil de ingenios, în prim-plan cu o polițistă germofobă și un mentalist.
Am zis-o și o mai zic, această carte este varianta tipărită a combinației Monk și The mentalist, 2 dintre cele mai bune seriale of all time.
Atunci când am cumpărat-o nu știam dacă este sau nu o serie, dar a apărut recent vol. 2 la treibooks așa că abia aștept să citesc și "Cult"!
Nu mai îmi rămâne decât să v-o recomand, e excelentă.
- Eu cred că motivul se află în principal în misticism, spuse Vincent și se opri. Femeia poate da viață. De aceea e mai tragic dacă o femeie e victima într-o poveste. Din punct de vedere pur simbolistic, nu este ucisă numai ea, ci chiar existența umanității, pe care o reprezintă. Eu cred că subconștientul nostru înțelege asta pe undeva. Bărbații sunt mai... interschimbabili. Iar când e vorba de realitate, atunci da. Un mod de a face față la ceea ce nu poți atinge e, firește, să-l distrugi.

De un thriller espero sorpresas con giros inesperados que me dejen con la boca abierta así como mucha tensión que haga que no pueda parar de leer por la necesidad de conocer al asesino....y este libro no me ha aportado ninguna de las dos cosas.
Es un libro demasiado extenso para el contenido que tiene la historia en sí. Tranquilamente podría haber tenido unas 300 páginas y habría sido suficiente. De hecho habría sido una lectura más ágil y posiblemente le hubiese dado algo más de puntuación
Lo he escuchado por Audible y en muchos momentos me perdía en la narración porque se detenía demasiado en historias personales de los personajes tanto principales como secundarios que no aportaban nada a la trama principal.
La historia está narrada en dos tiempos diferentes uno el actual y otro en 1982. Y aunque la historia pasada mientras es narrada no indica la relación con el personaje de la historia actual no deja muchas dudas de quién se trata a mi modo de ver por lo que le quita toda la gracia.
Así mismo las últimas 200 páginas es donde transcurre toda la acción y para entonces ya sabía quién era el/los asesinos y no ha tenido ese efecto sorpresa
De la historia se salvan los toques de humor que da la autora en varios momentos de la narración y lo peculiar de los personajes principales, Vincent, el mentalista con su TEA y Mina, la inspectora, con su TOC exacerbado....y que aunque es un cliché del que tiran cada vez más en los thriller en éste me ha parecido que está muy conseguido como pareja protagonista y cómo les afecta en su relación para llevar el caso.

An endless book: 715 pages. But still nice enough; there is an interesting plot and there are beautiful characters, very well constructed and characterized by many small details that in the end make us almost imagine them in front of us. The writing style is very fluid and well aligned with the scenes that gradually unfold. There is the right balance between the suspense, the daily life of the characters and even a pinch of splatter and the story is plausible, without ever causing certain situations look forced. The two main protagonists are Mina and Vincent: she is a policewoman from Stockholm and he is an illusionist, united in this very intricate investigation that in the end will reveal a nice twist that will explain the many mysteries that at the beginning of the book the reader is facing. All in all, therefore, a good book, to be read to have fun and immerse yourself in mysterious situations. If there is a flaw it is the length of the book; the two authors sometimes go too far in describing some situations and in some moments the pace slows down too much. However, three stars well deserved.

A fost atât de bun, atât de palpitant și de intens! Fix cum ar trebui să fie!❤️
Mi-a plăcut super mult ideea din spate, cu magie și iluzionism, cum au fost integrate aceste elemente atât în cadrul crimelor, dar și pe parcursul cărții. Mi-a plăcut și planul secundar, din trecut, și mi-a luat ceva să înțeleg despre cine poate fi vorba. Și jocurile de numere au fost faine si palpitante, chiar dacă nu mereu înțelegeam exact de unde le ia. Finalul a fost fain si exploziv, greu de intuit (pentru mine, cel puțin), dar foarte dinamic. Personajele, chiar și cele secundare, au fost bine construite, fiecare cu bucata lui de poveste. Over all, un roman foarte, foarte bun! Recomand cu căldură iubitorilor de thriller-crime!

След повече от продължило един месец четене (нетипично за мен, но наложено от външни обстоятелства) снощи финализирах Вох на Лекберг/Фексеус.
Като цяло книгата ми хареса - замисъл, атмосфера, съспенс всичко беше на ниво.
Втората половина ми хареса повече - беше по-динамична и по-драматична.
Малко в повече ми дойдоха фобиите и обсесиите на екипа разследващи, но все пак и те бяха/са част от чара на книгата.
Много ме дразнеше това "варено кафе", което пиеха непрекъснато в романа. Чак ми се отщя да помириша кафе.
Крайна оценка 4.5* и "препоръчвам" 🙂

„Să spun că multe detalii sunt inutile ar însemna să folosesc un eufemism. E adevărat, ele oferă greutate și complexitate unei povești și-așa stufoase și complicate, dar parcă uneori ce e prea mult e prea mult: de exemplu, mi s-au părut absolut redundante detaliile despre viața medicului legist care se ocupă de victimele magicianului criminal. Sau nenumăratele certuri dintre Vincent și soția sa. Cum spuneam, ele oferă complexitate și încearcă să îl facă pe cititor să trăiască povestea, să simtă trăirile personajelor, să-l simtă cum evoluează și să trăiască alături de el în poveste, dar când vezi că ai ajuns la pagina cinci sute și tu încă nu te-ai lămurit cine ar putea fi criminalul și de ce hăcuiește oameni nevinovați, în schimb ai citit deja de un milion de ori cum șterge Mina orice suprafață înainte să se așeze și să-i simți parcă oroarea de-a călători cu transportul în comun sau cum se freacă de un milion pe zi cu dezinfectant pe mâini, dar în schimb nu afli de unde a căpătat această manie sau de ce urmărește de la depărtare o fată…
În rest, așa cum ne-am obișnuit, cazul e fascinant, oamenii rămân la fel de suciți și de inventivi când vine vorba să provoace chinuri cât mai mari semenilor care nu le-au greșit cu nimic, viața pare la fel de feerică dacă te-ai născut și-ai crescut în Suedia și prin vene îți curge sânge pur, nu însă și dacă te cheamă Gabriel Bargabriel și ai venit din Siria (de drag, nu de frica bombelor), și ai ghinionul ca într-o seară să dai peste niște neonaziști criminali și lipsiți de orice urmă de umanitate în ei, chitiți să-ți facă felul din simpla vină că ai căutat și tu un loc mai liniștit.
Cazurile sunt la fel de complicate, polițiștii sunt la fel de „dispuși” să se lase ajutați atunci când sunt neputincioși, misoginismul e în floare (apropo, cel mai detestabil personaj din toată cartea nu mi s-a părut criminalul, pentru că-n logica lui sucită și dat fiind trecutul crunt, are o posibilă explicație pentru ce i-a trecut prin gând să facă, ci marele cuceritor de blonde subțirele pe nume Ruben, cel care le știe pe toate și care a ghicit criminalul din prima secundă, în mintea lui de atotcunoscător cu egoul mare cât Palatul Poliției, unde se petrece mare parte din acțiune, dar despre care Vincent ghicește din prima ce traumă poartă legată ca o tinichea de coadă), dar stilul molcom, plus complexitatea personajelor, despre care vom mai afla cu siguranță și în volumul sau volumele viitoare ale seriei, te fac să nici nu simți când ai mai dat gata altă sută de pagini.”

La serie de Fjällbacka me encantó. “Una jaula de oro” me gustó, pero su continuación y “Mujeres que no perdonan” fueron una decepción, hasta el punto de pensar que no estaban escritos por la misma persona. Con “El Mentalista” tenía las expectativas muy altas ya que parecía que Camilla Läckberg volvía al procedimental policiaco en esta ocasión a cuatro manos con Henrik Fexeus, un reconocido mentalista, y, aunque en conjunto me ha gustado, está lejos de ser una de sus mejores obras.
La aparición del cadáver de una mujer atravesado por espadas dentro de una caja, en lo que parece ser un truco de magia, es el punto de arranque de una historia que, si bien parte de una premisa súper original, se pierde en su desarrollo con múltiples subtramas (algunas de ellas carentes por completo de interés), haciendo que el ritmo sea desigual a lo largo de la novela, quedando en muchas ocasiones la investigación en un segundo (incluso tercer) plano.
El punto fuerte son sus dos protagonistas, la detective Mina Dabiri, una mujer muy reservada y con germofobia, y el mentalista Vincent Walder, obsesionado con los números y rituales. Ambos personajes están muy bien construidos. Las habilidades sociales de ambos son bastante escasas y la caracterización que hacen de ellos los autores, aportando pequeños detalles de su día a día, hacen que sean percibidos por el lector como persona reales y no una mera caricatura (debo confesar que con alguna escena en la que se describen los rituales de limpieza de Mina me llegué a agobiar).
Entre los aspectos negativos está su longitud. Le sobra fácilmente entre 200-300 páginas, la inmensa mayoría relativa a la vida familiar de Vincent. Tuve la sensación de leer la misma escena una y otra vez (¡qué mujer más insoportable!), para que al final esa trama no fuese a ninguna parte, quedando prácticamente en el mismo punto que al inicio. Demasiada información y demasiados datos que no aportaron nada a la trama principal y que solo sirvieron para ralentizar la historia.
Tengo curiosidad por ver cómo evoluciona la relación entre Mina y Vincent así que volveré para el segundo libro de la serie. Solo espero que ahora que ya han sentado las bases de los personajes no se vayan tanto por las ramas y se centren más en una trama principal.

I absolutely loved this book and I’m over the moon that it is just book 1 of a new series and I’m so looking forward to the next one.
This is a big book with a lot going on and a whole host of characters but I never at any point felt my interest lagging in fact it was quite the opposite I became completely immersed in the wonderful plot and storyline.
What made this read so special for me though was the the two main characters of Mina and Vincent I loved them both it was so addictive finding out about their pasts, their unusual personalities and quirks it all just consumed me and that’s all down to the brilliant writing of the two authors Camilla Lackberg and Henrik Fexeus who really excelled themselves in writing a brilliant story that took over my life.
Let’s not forget the plot here all through the read I was gripped it’s complex and clever, I had no idea of the book was going to end it’s tense and macabre and I loved the puzzles that Victor was so good at and I wasn’t !
So I adored this book it had everything I love in a mystery thriller and a 5 star read it is long but for me I was happy about that because I really was sad when it was finished and I can highly recommend it.

Finalizada. Edición en audiolibro. Sí, tiene un montón de tópicos. Sí, las dos taritas de los protagonistas están llevadas al extremo. Sí, en ocasiones es un poco ñoña. Sí, le sobran páginas y da datos que no aportan nada a la trama PEEEERO… a mí me ha gustado. He estado la mar de entretenida y no vi el final hasta que lo tuve delante de las narices. Pensé que al ser dos protagonistas tan especiales, no iban a casar bien. Error mío. Hacen un tándem muy bueno. La trama queda cerrada, pero hay muchas subtramas que no sé por dónde van a seguir. Esperando ya el segundo. Nota 4/5. FIN.
