Christmas Kisses #1

The Lady's Christmas Kiss

Rate this book
Lady Rebecca’s heart has been broken. Yet when difficulties arise, she calls upon her old flame. Could there still be something wonderful between them?

Lady Rebecca loves everything about Christmas and is thrilled to be invited to a extended Christmas gathering. However, her happiness is spoiled by the arrival of a gentleman she knows all too well, the only gentleman who has ever had – and broken – her heart: Viscount Hastings.

Viscount Myles Hastings never expected to see Lady Rebecca again. Walking into the house party to see her sitting there takes his breath away – and in that instant, his only wish is to win her back, no matter the consequences.
When a dark incident forces them together, Myles is determined to take his opportunity – and Rebecca finds herself drawn back to the only gentleman who has ever captured her heart. Mistletoe balls, Christmas games, and wonderful dinners give them plenty of opportunities to grow closer but Rebecca is afraid of what will happen, should she trust him again.

Will the magic of Christmas help them to reconcile? Will Myles be bold enough to tell her the truth? And can this one dark moment lead them to a happiness they’d both thought they’d lost forever?

I have no idea how this book ended up on my TBR, as Idk the author and none of my GR friends have read it (my friends are obviously smarter than me). However, I picked it up. Unfortunately.

It’s the story of Rebecca and Myles. They were close last summer and Rebecca thought Myles would propose, but then he abruptly ended their secret relationship without any explanation. Now they meet again at a duke’s Christmas house party, both still heartbroken.

Over Christmas entertainment such as house concerts, playing games, and dancing, and while handling family issues and exposing a criminal, they eventually find together again. It’s a long, exhausting, torturous way, however, until Myles’s reason for his withdrawal is finally, finally revealed, because the author loves to repeat the same lament over and over. (Rebecca: “He has taken all from me. He had left me with nothing. He’s not worth it after what he’d done to me.” And Miles: “Everything has been taken away from me. After everything I’ve done, I don’t deserve her. There’s a reason for ending our relationship, but I can never tell.”) It was just tiring, but that fit with the boring story, the dull main characters and the absence of chemistry. A very dispensable read.

Lady Rebecca’s heart has been broken when her budding romance with Myles, Viscount Hastings came to an abrupt end. Lady Rebecca & her mother are invited to the Duke of Meyrick's Christmas house party. Then her happiness is spoiled by the arrival of Viscount Hastings. Myles never expected to see Lady Rebecca again. When a dark incident forces them together, Myles is determined to take his opportunity to win her and Rebecca finds herself drawn back to the only gentleman who has ever captured her heart.
A well written, easy to read entertaining second chance romance. I really liked both Myles & Rebecca, they both still loved each other & gradually the reasons for their separation came to light. There was also the mystery of an attack in the grounds. I would have liked the villain to have, maybe, been banished to America as I felt he ‘got off’ lightly. The characters were well portrayed & most were very likeable, the story flowed well & I read it in a sitting
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Lady Rebecca and Viscount Myles Hastings meet again at an extended Christmas house party. He broke her heart earlier in the season without giving any explanation. When Rebecca witnesses a bad incident, she calls upon Myles to assist. Can there be a second chance for Myles? How difficult is it for Rebecca to open her heart again after having it broken?

Lady Rebecca is still recovering from a broken heart, although she has kept the reason a secret . She had met ,and fallen for Viscount Miles Hastings during the summer season. They had danced, walked in the park., attended parties, and danced at balls. It is true he had never kissed her, but his compliments, and talk of the future left her hoping for more. Then he returned home, without an explanation of any kind . Had it all been her imagination? Was it simply an infatuation during the season? Had he met another ? Now winter was upon them, and her father chose to sit out the bitter cold at home. It would be a dreary Christmas indeed . Her mother interrupted her thoughts ,that they had received a Christmas house party invitation to a Duke, and his mother's home not that far away, and it was to last through twealth night . Her mother felt her father would not attend, but that was no reason she, and her daughter could not . Rebecca was overjoyed, and felt this was the perfect answer to make new friends, and forget the old. One can image that the opposite happens, and the Viscount did not leave the season, because of a change of mind . This is where the mystery comes in for their is an evil conniving relative out to ruin the Viscount, and the family name When they both turn up at the house party sparks fly. It soon becomes apparent who is a liar, and cheat. Then another man invited to the party nearly looses his life. It is a good added mystery, and shows the power a Duke has to govern on all situations, especially on his own property. He has the ability to remove someone from grace, and social standing , in the eyes of the ton.I loved all the games, but snap dragon. I see no need to make people reach through fire, and eat burning raisin, plus well born ladies owing a favor if they loose, or a gentleman having spots of coal dust smeared upon his face as forfeit, for loss seems over done.It was a way to steal a Christmas kiss, if the lady had no other object to offer The ending was happy, but I would have loved an epilogue to find out if the evil man, ever grew up, or changed.I gave it 5 stars for all the mystery, and frivolity during the Christmas season .

Gotta love Amazon freebies ;) I picked this one up mainly because it is an Xmas and I need to start some Xmas tales!

Here we follow Rebecca and Myles. Rebecca loves Xmas time and is thrilled to be given an invitation to a Holiday House party! However, her excitement is washed away when the Viscount Myles Hastings arrives. He had broken her heart and they never thought they would see each other again. However, Myles finally has a chance to make things right, and when her back.

I did not get any Xmas joy out of this one. I would've quit but it is a shorter story and my rule before DNFing is at least 100 pages. This is about 180 (give or take) SO I figured I might as well battle through it.

Yes, yes, I skimmed QUITE a bit but some of the finer details did not stick in my brain. Mhmmm Rebecca and Myles have words. Myles wants her back. Rebecca is hurt. Things happen that make them have to team up and Myles takes the opportunity to woe her. Things happen and OPE love. OH! And Rebecca's parents kinda suck. Again...don't ask me about the finer details.

There was something about Myles I didn't like and Rebecca was....kinda boring but she was sweet and I wanted her to find somebody else.

Sadly...I didn't vibe. It might just be a me thing. Rebecca was very sweet though. Maybe if she ended up with someone who wasn't Myles I might've liked this one more? Who knows....

I'll give this 2 stars because I am feeling charitable and I did like Rebecca and I adore the cover.

Rebecca’s incredibly indecisive, she questions every judgment she makes despite them being sound, and changes her mind about once every hour.

Myles comes across as disrespectful stalker, which I'm certain was not the intention. He promises to keep away from her on three different occasions and is then

Another issue I had was that narrator would tell us what a character was thinking, and then a few pages later there would be a dialogue where the same character would say the exact same thing aloud. It felt repetitive.

I also found it annoying that after

The book is actually not as bad as I made it sound, and I can see some people liking the tension, but it was just not for me.

Just a little on Christmas Spirit. A long house party at a Duke's home. Our H/h have history together and it slowly unravels what the H did to the h.

This is a clean story but you will still feel the romance and connection these two have for each other. The h is not willing to forgive the H easily and I loved that. I just recently read a story where the H did something awful and the h forgave almost immediately. I want the injured party to have some back bone and make the other party realize how hurtful their actions were - bravo to this author for getting it just right.

Some violence, suspense and a nasty villain. I loved how the villain got what was coming to him.

The story ended about 89% on my e-reader, rest was a sneak peek of another story.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, rocky road to HEA, romantic and clean. I would love for the friend of the h to get with the Duke-hint! (ljb)

Rebecca is invited by a Duke to attend a Christmas party and she never expected to see HIM there - the man who broke her heart. Myles attends the Christmas party and has no expectations of seeing Rebecca. It brings back all the agony of letting her go. He has his reasons...will he tell her? Will she forgive him?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging, entertaining and unputdownable story!! Its the kind of story that you just want to rug up, grab a warm chocolate and read into the night! It's a sweet romance of second chances and overcoming obstacles to stand together and support each other. The heartbreak that they describe in their POVs really draws a reader into their world! The story is well written, fast paced with lots of angst, friendship, acceptance, celebrations, dastardly actions and truths being told! Told from dual POV reveals intimately their thoughts, feelings and emotions as they explore their relationship and find their HEA!

Lady Rebecca is heartbroken when Viscount Harding cuts off their acquaintance without an explanation! She never wants to see him again.
Viscount Harding is heart broken that he had to give up his lady love because he couldn’t explain how badly his brother has tried to destroy his good family name.
Fate intervenes with a house party both r invited to.
I really enjoyed this book! The characters were wonderful. I didn’t realize it was common for kisses to be stolen during the holiday season! The games they played as well seem very entertaining! I enjoy all of Rose Pearson’s regency romance books. I look forward to reading the next book! I highly recommend this book for a light Holiday read!.

Lady Rebecca and Myles, Viscount Hastings had met before this house party but something had caused them to stop seeing each other. Understandably, Rebecca was none too pleased to see Myles there as he had been the one to end their relationship. However, Myles had his reasons and wishes to explain some of them to Rebecca. Their feelings for each other haven’t really changed but there are events that happen, which could hinder or help their relationship. Rebecca was a caring person and would help others if she could. Myles was an honourable man but he had his problems. This was an engaging read with likeable characters. I received via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. “The Lady’s Christmas Kiss” by Rose Pearson
Actions speak louder than words
Yes, another sweet clean Regency romance with a bit of ‘suspense’ to glue everything together. I found this to be a light fun read. It kept me turning pages and enjoying the sojourn this story provides. It didn’t really capture my emotions, but my mind had a great time. I hope you will enjoy this easy read as much as I did. Happy Reading ! !
NOTE: This review expresses my honest opinion.

Lady Rebecca goes to a house party at a Duke’s estate in the Christmas season. She there meets again a man who broke her heart earlier in the year when he broke off seeing her without any explanation.

When Viscount Myles Hastings sees Lady Rebecca he wishes to explain his actions and win her back again despite the reasons he left her in the first place.

This is a lovely sweet clean easy to read story. There were enough twists and suspense to keep me interested the whole time.

A Good Read

What a lovely tale … a Christmas house party with numerous guests and intrigue aplenty. I enjoyed this story centered around Rebecca and Myles who have an unhappy past hanging over them. The mystery behind this unhappy past becomes more entangled when Miles’ brother shows up bringing additional angst to the mix. Our Hero and Heroine find themselves working hard together to make the bad go away and allow the beauty of the Season to shine happily for them.

A great story.
I expected a love story but I got more bang for the buck with this one. The hero of the tale has a family member who is a real work of art and super dangerous. The heroine makes the hero work hard for her affection. I loved the twists in the story and how it ended. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

The story takes you to a House party at Christmas. Lady Rebecca loves Christmas and is looking forward to the season if just to forget a certain Lord. As fate would have it He is there, Viscount Hastings. I loved the plot as it has a different ring than most. Will love prevail? We will see.

A delightful start to the series

his is a delightfully written start to what is a very promising series. It is a clean plot, that has some elements of suspense, as well as some brilliantly crafted characters. It is a story that will keep you guessing all the way through to the end.

The Lady's Christmas Kiss

Great Storyline, the event lasted for weeks- interesting. The "Incident" made the story even more interesting. Great Characters, all of them brought together for a Great Story. Ms Pearson is a Great Storyteller, her involvement of intrigue made it hard to put her story down. Great Read.

Xmas suspense!

I really liked this book. It came with some mystery and detective work. When love just beginning comes to an end our heroin is left in pieces. The question of why would not leave her. Enter our hero who tries to end his suffering and hope above all things to get a second chance at love. Enjoy!

A Traditional Regency Romance

I usually rate Rose Pearson's books higher than midrange. This one has all the tropes expected in a Regency romance, which will make serious devotees happy. Unfortunately, I'm only a casual reader of any kind of romance and usually only during the holidays. This book go three stars because, despite the Kindle edition being less than 200 pages, I found it to be tediously repetitious. The plot was interesting enough to keep me reading, but not interesting enough to keep from wishing the characters gets would just get in with it.

It was ok.

Had I not seen the author's name on the cover, I would have been convinced this was written by someone else. It felt quite different in both style and tone from her usual writing. Overall it was still an enjoyable read. Though I would have liked to know what happened to the brother.
