Scooby and the gang are picking pumpkins for Halloween when they see a witch haunting the pumpkin patch, and again at the town's annual Halloween party.
Every year, I read one kids' Halloween book, and this year I went with this. It was cute seeing all of the Scooby-Doo characters dressed up for Halloween. (Fred was Frankenstein and Daphne was a vampire/bat). Also, I read this for Dewey's 24 hour readathon!
This is a fun halloween-themed Scooby-Doo! Readers mystery that is a short read and great for beginning readers.
This is a fairly typical book for the series. The story is short, easily solved, not too scary and has fairly basic vocabulary, which is good for young readers.
We love Scooby Doo and even though Halloween is long over, we discovered a couple of Scooby books we'd overlooked and just had to read them. Typical plot and dialogue for Scooby books; includes some fairly current technology for the "witch's" tricks. Our girls really enjoy these books. They aren't too long, have lots of pictures, and tell a fun story.
We put this book with some other Halloween stories in our Halloween bin and pulled them out to read during the Halloween season.
I think I have read/watched too much Scooby-Doo. I knew who was the villain less than half-way through the book. Of course I am older than the target age of this book. This story would have made a decent episode of the television series. You have a witch who is scaring people on Hallowe'en, a reluctant Shaggy and Scooby who get involved due to their being lots of food around, and the unveiling of the monster, who turns out to be who you suspected. How can you go wrong. Seriously, if you have a child who is into Scooby-Doo, or who likes this type of story, then this is a good book for them. It's also a good one for any fan of that Great Dane. Happy Reading
OK. I know this is a little late for Halloween, but who doesn't like Scooby-Doo? This was a really fun one about a haunting at the pumpkin patch over Halloween (of course). With tons of great Scooby and the gang sayings - and updated to reflect current technology, this was a great one to read.
