Treasure Hunters #9

Treasure Hunters: The Greatest Treasure Hunt

Rate this book
In the finale of James Patterson's bestselling series, the Kidds compete for fame and glory—but can they solve a mystery, restore their family name and uncover the biggest treasure yet? Bick, Beck, Storm, and Tommy Kidd have uncovered and rescued some of the world’s greatest treasure, without ever seeking out fame and glory. So they aren’t happy when the Collier Kids (as in Nathan Collier, the Kidds’s nemesis) start treasure hunting for the camera, more focused on looking good and selling ads for their streaming show than actually recovering treasure. When the Kidds are invited to compete with the Colliers for the title of “The World’s Greatest Treasure Hunting Kids,” they jump at the chance to show the world what real treasure hunting looks like.

But with rumors swirling of a family mistake made by the Kidds’ great-grandfather years ago, the Kidds discover that fame and glory aren’t the only things on the line. Will they be able to solve the mystery, restore their family name, and recover their biggest treasure haul yet?

The Kidd kids have been challenged to an reality tv competition by the children of their nemesis, Nathan Collier. Things look legit, and the Kidd kids are eager to prove their skills, so they agree. They are off across the world on a series of staged treasure hunting competitions using their real skills. But can the Kidd kids beat the Colliers?

This reality TV competition has a twist and then the Kidd family has to really go into gear to save an actual treasure from falling into the wrong hands. It has a good amount of puzzle solving and action, along with family and cross-team interactions. It took me a little while to get into this, but once I did I pretty much finished it in one sitting. I know some of our readers will be sad to see this adventurous series come to an end. It has quite a few fans.

Notes on content:
Langauge: None
Sexual content: None
Violence: None
Ethnic diversity: The Kidds are white, some of the Collier kids are adopted and are white, Black, and Asian.
LGBTQ+ content: None
Other: Some deceit and double crossing, but the good guys win the important things.

This is the last of the series and my daughter loved it. She is getting into the mystery side of reading and this series was great for her age!

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and author for the ARC!

This book is part of a series but can be read without reading the others. That said, you should really read the others! This particular book though, has great adventure, historical education material presented in a fun way, and easy to read dialog. If you have a middle school age child, they will enjoy this book!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the temporary digital ARC that I read and gave my honest opinion of.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was an easy, fun read about a family that lives on a boat and hunts treasures in the ocean. It is book 9 in the series but works well as a stand-alone read. I enjoyed the humorous moments in the story. I also liked that the reader was learning languages, math and science facts, and was introduced to the foods and culture of Spain. I feel that learning new knowledge while reading makes the reading experience so fulfilling! The book also contains lots of graphics to keep the young reader engaged. If your reader loves Diary of A Wimpy Kid, Captain Underpants, or graphic novels, they will also enjoy this series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown Books for Young Readers for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Kind of a lame ending to this already messed-up series. The Collier kids decide to challenge the other Kidds, and a search for the Amber Room ensues, yada yada. Neufeld tried her best not to screw up the art as much as she did in the last book, but let's face it, that couldn't be undone. These kids are obsessed with becoming YouTube stars, which is lame, and at the end of the day, we still don't know why Storm storms over her real name. Yeah, keep it a secret, Patterson. I'm done with his books.

For some reason this just took me forever to read. That's no reflection on the book itself, I just think I'd read all the previous books in the series already and this was more of the same...just as it should be and I was interesting in getting through other books in my stack that I was more interested in completing. I just think these would be so interesting for YAs to read. There are a lot of great facts about history, amazing adventures and plenty of snark between the siblings.

I picked this up from a featured display at the library and didn't realize it was the last book in the series. It was still a good read, but now I need to go back and read the others. It was a good, fast-paced adventure. I think my fifth grade daughter will enjoy this series.

Fun, middle school book. I enjoyed all the adventures of the Kidds and the history they brought with them. I didn’t realize this is the last series until I read some of the other reviews which is very disappointing because they always looked forward to the next installment

That was definitely not my favorite treasure hunter book, but it was ok. I wish he would have made the first challenges a little bit harder, and more suspenseful.

I loved this series. It's a fun middle grade series. I'm still not 100% sure Patterson is done with the Kidd family treasure hunters though...

Pretty basic book. Not sure why I read it, it's a kid's book. All in all, a fine book for the intended audience.
