For the first time ever, all three novels in the #1 New York Times bestselling series are available in this terrific boxed set, which includes an exclusive magnet frame and magnets of the Pants.
I loved these books. Normally, I would not have read this series as an adult, but I was so curious after watching the movie. I knew that there was more to the books than what the movie had played out and I was right. The first movie is the only comparison worth mentioning since the second movie just combined (horribly I might add) three books in to one. Also, I liked the way the author told the story. She really got me in to the characters and before I knew it, I was on the 4th book.
In the first book, Kostos and Lena were always meant to be together. Their families matched them, but she was so "not confident" within herself to even talk to him. Then, she accidentally accused him of being a peeping tom, which then put the two families into arguments. Finally, at the end, she comes around on the last night. This way goes throughout the series. The second book, he comes to see her, but she is too shy to even be around him. I mean he came from freaking Greece to see her and again, at the end, she finally gets her head out of her ass to be with him. Then, we find out that he knocked up a girl (allegedly) and he marries that girl all while attending her grandfather's funeral. She's devastated and through some time, she ends up with Carmen's stepbrother. Also, Lena's grandmother comes to live with her and that is what saves the third book. In the fourth book, she meets the hunky art guy and starts to really come out of her self. She stands up to her dad about being an artist. And all of that brings about Kostos. In the end, the author gives us hope that once again, Lena will get her head out of her ass and be with him (the girl lied about pregnancy and tricked him in to marriage).
Carmen's character was awesome. She becomes friends with the stepsister and stepbrother and it's fun to read that she is their role model (they run away at different times to be with her). Bridget's character was only really good in Book 2 where you really find out about her and her inner demons. She spends the whole summer in hiding, but learnds her true self.
Libby was by far the most annoying, which is weird since I identified with her the most. She just seemed to be a spoiled brat throughout until she finally got her head out of her ass. She was horrible to Brian and to her mother. She films her mom in various stages and then edits the movie for comedy in which her mom watched. Her mother was crushed and Brian was disappointed. I did feel like towards the end, she grew as a person, but not as big as the other ones or she took way too long to do it.
By the end of the third book, they are all happy and with boyfriends. But the fourth book, brings it all back.
These books were great and I am waiting for the fourth book to come out...(as well as the second movie). Just an all around great story about four girls who share a lifelong friendship and many adventures together. The action never stops..lol It kind of reminds me of the kind of things that Judy Blume might write about.
It was a nice change of pace in my classics collection (young adult series). Sure it has its real life lessons about growing up and dealing with change but it was just a plain wholesome "good read" at its finest. You didn't put these books down with a heavy heart, just a big smile...wondering what will happen next summer in "THE PANTS". It kind of reminded me of Joyelle, Alana Jen and Ginny if you just changed the names of the girls in the story a bit:)....What to read next....hummmmm. I will have to consult my list. This is a hard act to follow. You can bet that any book that I am reading will be put down when book 4 comes out!!!!!!!
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was the first novel I ever read that made me cry. The friendships described in the book made me want to have those type of relationships later in life.
From to travel to heartache, this series reminds you that you are never alone, something that Bridget, Lena, Tibby, and Carmen learned through the magic of a pair of pants that kept them together at times when life pulled them apart.
This series is a great summer series. It is slightly different than the movies which I appreciated because I did see them before reading these books. They were still recommended to me despite my hesitation. However, I wasn’t disappointed. They are great coming of age books as well, for a teenager or adolescent. Although, I did read them in my adult years and loved them all the same.
I read these books when I was in Middle School they really helped me through hard times they're such an easy read to in the stories are pretty great I don't mind the bouncing around of storylines and whatnot.
These books are enjoyable - it's fun following four teenagers over four summers. These books don't have an overarching plot, but are a slice of life about American teenaged girls and their friendship. And magic pants that help keep them connected.
These were crack to me. When I read them I was working as a parking lot attendant in Northampton and I just read on the job all the time and got paid $50/night to tell people they couldn't park there for a few hours. Bad gig overall but good for the time
i read these in middle school but i really liked them at the time. cute story line and i love the idea of having a piece of clothing u and ur friends pass around. good books
Kostas Dounas will always and forever be my first book crush and I grew up reading these books with my best friend. I have such good memories of these books and watching the movie seeing kostas come to life 😍🥰
This book was good. I liked how all the girls had real-life problems that I could relate to (some of them.) it seemed like all of these girls were actually real and that one day, I would come upon Tibby or Lena. Carmen and her mother, Christina had problems that most teens have with their own mothers. Tibby had troubles with her boyfriend, and friends at her new college. Lena had troubles with Kostos, the Greek heartbreaker who she had fallen in love with. It ended up that Kostos had a pregnat wife, and Lena learned she could never be with him. Bridget wanted to meet her Grandma, so she pretended to be somebody else and work for her Grandma. Bee had given up her favorite thing, and most important part of her life, soccer. She was getting bigger, and had tried dying her hair brown. In the end, Bridget realized that she didn't want to change herself, and that she didn't need to. She joined soccer again, told her Grandma who she was, and realized her friend, Billy ,liked her. In the end, all of the sister's lives turned out to be good, and they all got what they had wanted to in the first place. Lena's mother told her the story about how she had gotten heart-broken by a Greek boy also, and Lena and her mother got even closer by their experiences and similiarities. This book taught me to make the right choices, and all the characters taught me some sort of lesson. They seemed so real, and that is the main reason I liked the book. The only thing I didn't like was how they all only had one problem, and it got kind of boring in spots. Although, I still thought it was a good book. I would recommend this book to only some readers, because it was sort of innapropriate and not a good choice for younger readers. The girls weren't the best role models either, and for younger readers, the characters might teach readers the wrong ideas and help them make wrong choices.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants #1- Carmen buys a pair of jeans at a thrift shop. Somehow, the pants fit Carmen and her three best friends, Lena, Tibby, and Bridget, even though the girls have very different bodies. Before each girl sets off to her summer plans, they have a friendship gathering at Gilda’s gym, where their mothers met many years ago. To stay close while they’re apart, they promise to send the pants, which they call the Traveling Pants, to one another throughout the summer. When all the girls are back in Bethesda, they celebrate their birthdays at Gilda’s. They write down their experiences on the Pants. But after being apart for so long, will their friendship stay the same? Read the book and find out! I definitely suggest reading this wonderful book that teaches you about friendship and kindness!
I picked up all four of these books and blasted through them in about a day. I decided to read them so I could talk about them with my 15-year-old sister. They were a fun, quick read. I liked that the book had action and consequences from real-life situations, and that the four girls in the book had to grapple with their own shortcomings and insecurities. Yes, there's lots of teenage drama and some fun love interests sprinkled throughout, but the real charm of these books is the self-discovery done by each girl.
At first I really liked these books, but then it started to bother me how alot of the stories are the same. They fall in love, realize themselves or something... it's like, how many times can you realize yourself? I say once. But anyway, it also bothered me how I have to wait so long for the story of each girl, like how their stories are broken up so much. But I had to give it three stars because I originally liked them soo much.
Book 1 - I finished this in 2-3 days - definitely a very fast read if I can do it that quick, but it was light, fluffy & fun. Perfect for warm weather, mindless entertainment!
Book 2 - Easily as entertaining as the first. I think I'm going to be sad when I'm done with the series.
Book 3 - Still as enjoyable as the first 2. Fun, light fluff, and still very pertainable to issues teenagers face with the attitudes they tend to have. I must read the 4th book!
i always find myself reading these every winter. they are definately high school girl books, but i find the honesty in the characters intriguing. i find the girls empowering. plus, the setting is summer and when it's 20 below outside there's nothing better than pretending you're in the heat of mexico and italy...or just working at your summer job.
These books are so good. And if it has been awhile since you've read the last one they fill you up about it in the begining. I haven't read the last one yet 'Girls in blue' But I can't wait to. I bought it in California since they didn't have it here.
Friendship+Love+Summer+MagicPants? What fun! The enjoyment I got out of reading the these first three in the series outweigh the disappointment of the fourth. The movie based on the first was entertaining, but did wildly digress from the novel, just so you know.
a good book bout friendship... about the pants though... about how the pants miraclely worked.... story bout 4 girls became best friends since... in thier mother's stomach?..till they're at college...
a wanna read book... should read it... i strictly recomend it to u guys....
Even though these are intended for young adult readers, I really enjoyed these books! If you work with adolescents, esp girls, you might, too. She's great at writing characters - it doesn't ever seem forced.
Yeah, I liked this one, it just continues the stories of the 4 friends. There was a little bit of love happening, enough to keep me reading, but nothing overwhelming. I think I liked the first book the best.
