Father, I Don’t Want this Marriage is another transmigration/regressed manhwa that did it right! I remember seeing this manhwa last 2023 but it was still ongoing at that time so I decided to get back to it once it’s finished! And as expected, it took me quite a while lol. But oh well, better late than never right, *wink.
Father, I Don’t Want this Marriage is a story of a modern Korean woman who transmigrated into the body of the story’s pitiful villainess. After waking up in her body, she worked hard to change the ending wherein the villainess died. While doing so, she found herself confused because the father who was supposed to be cold to the villainess in the story suddenly shows concern and love for her. Did she successfully get rid of her death flag ending this time?
As you can see in my rating above, I ended up loving this manhwa so much! I was actually surprised because I read a few of its chapters before so that already gave me a hint on how this story will go. I guess it was thanks to the amazing story telling plus those informative and usually funny extras each chapter, hehehe.
There’s a lot of plot twists in this manhwa which left me baffled, so I really can’t wait for you to experience it too. This manhwa also didn’t focus on the FL’s villainess past which is understandable because of her circumstances, but you can’t hear any complaints from me because this manhwa gave me some funny banter between the characters, cute graphics and satisfying love not just romantically but also love between family and friends.
As for the characters, aside from the antagonists, I LOVE everyone! The main characters were very likeable while the side characters were chaotic, wahahaha. I love seeing the FL’s growth throughout the story. Her character design looks like a damsel in distress waiting for her prince, but you’ll be surprised by her courage. You can see her struggling one moment then a minute later you’ll be surprised how she stands her ground and fights. I love that she didn’t just sit around despite being told so by her father and lover, but she ended up rolling her sleeves to help. Also, I really love how cute and at the same time lovely she is. Her character design is chef kisses especially in her childhood.
The ML on the other hand surprised me. His character design looks like a tough guy, so I was really expecting a haughty character to pair it up with. But surprise surprise, this black cat of an ML is equally cute and charming, lol. He always says that about himself, especially at times when he is trying to charm the FL to score points, but he really does look cute and charming at times, lol. I love that he listens so well to FL and is not afraid to cry and kneel just to keep her. He is also very straightforward and has a strong mental health despite his tough childhood. I am really glad that he’s a very good ML considering that red flag MLs are quite a fad these days, lol.
Ofcourse I need to mention the father since he’s basically the second ML of this manhwa, lol. Legis (Juvelle’s father) is probably the most loved character in this manhwa and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s most loved even compared to the main characters lol. I believe it was mostly because of his good looks since he looks perfect. I know that there’s no such thing as perfect, but this dude was the exception (believe me, lol). As for me, I didn’t become a fan instantly. I didn’t like how he treated the FL in the past timeline. That's why I am probably one of the few that loves the main character more than Legis, lol. But as I read further, I started to understand his character. I didn’t like his method, but it’s so hard not to cheer for him because his life is somewhat tragic, huhuhu. I don’t want to say more because I might end up spoiling you guys, so I’ll just stop here, hihi.
The side characters were also very fun to read because they all have unique traits that make it easy to get familiarized and relate to. I believe the side characters equally made this manhwa enjoyable.
And lastly, the villains. They really played their roles so well because I keep on burying them alive in my head everytime they appear lol. I’m glad they all got what they deserve in the end.
Btw, this manhwa has many misunderstandings particularly in the first season, which I surprisingly enjoyed lol. I usually hate misunderstanding elements in my story, but this one was surprisingly amusing, lol. It may seem annoying at first, but it’s so hard to resist their funny POVs and facial expressions, lol, so in the end, I have no choice but to enjoy it, wahahaha.
Speaking of facial expressions, I absolutely love the art. The character design fits all the characters perfectly and the creator also makes sure that everything looks stunning however small of a detail we think it may be. Even those dark scenes look gorgeous! I particularly love the dresses. I believe this manhwa is top tier when it comes to dresses and suits. ALL LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. I also love the animal representation of the main characters which appears quite a lot in the story making it more fun and cute for me. I love it so much!
Just like most manhwas, this also has side stories and I love it so much. Uwaaaahhh, it was so good! There’s even some mature chapters which look really good. This manhwa is actually R16 but mind you, those mature chapters (yep, not just one hehehe) doesn’t look lewd at all. Believe me, it was perfection! Aside from the main character’s side story, we also got Legis and Amelia (Juvelle’s mother) chapters in the side story. Although I would also like to see Riche (ML’s sister) and Victor’s chapters in the side story assuming I’m not just the only one thinking that the two of them ended up together, but that final side story I believe was the perfect ending. Huhuhu, it was a happy ending but a bit bittersweet for Legis.
Pheew, that was quite long, wahahaha. I hope my review above convinced you to try this manhwa out because it’s really good. Have fun!
Art is gorgeous, the dramatic irony is hilarious and angsty in the best way, and I'm ravenous for more. Like I need it so bad.
Reminding me a bit of 7th Time Loop and that's so my jam.
RECAP: she still thinks he's a homeless swordsman, he helps her write a letter for her dad, she gifts dad cufflinks, she finds the suitors list, shenanigans, birthday party, she dances and gets close to Max and her dad intercepts, he then thinks she's going after the prince, she still doesn't know who he is bwahaha. Max is thinking about her all the time. Ends with her ex trying to go to the tea party she's going to.
In Summary There is less emphasis on Juvelian’s death flag and more on Max’s circumstances as the banished Crown Prince in this installment. Balancing out the court intrigue are Juvelian’s efforts to find an escort for a ball, a situation that draws interest from her father and Max. While Max’s attraction to her has developed a bit too quickly, romance readers will likely enjoy the trouble his feelings are bound to cause with Juvelian’s overprotective father. Back Cover Blurb Juvelian, infamous daughter of the legendary Duke Floyen, must rebuild her reputation if she is going to survive the events that led to the end of her previous life. Amid scandalous rumors of a secret lover, she makes careful plans for the debut of her reformed self at an aristocratic birthday party. But finding a suitable escort for the event proves more difficult than Juvelian expected.
When she discovers that her father is making plans of his own—ones that see her married off to the tyrannical crown prince—Juvelian is determined to thwart them. The only problem: She’ll need to convince Max, her father’s unpredictable protégé, to join the scheme.
The Review While the initial volume focused on the Death Flag aspect of the story, this volume is more about palace intrigue and drama. When Prince Maximilian got introduced, the banished-from-court-Crown-Prince seemed very much like the stray cat that Juvelian perceived him to be. As it turns out, Max has more people on his side than just Juvelian’s father. Moreover, he’s got a keen read on the current affairs of high society thanks to Madame Freesia, a salon owner who’s much more than she seems. It is still unclear how large the Crown Prince’s faction is, and the Imperial Princess whose poisoning triggered Juvelian’s Bad End in the novel has yet to make an appearance. However, battlelines have clearly been drawn between Max and his stepmother in addition to his conniving excuse of a father.
As for Juvelian, we get a better sense of her and her father’s reputation as she tries to find an escort for a ball celebrating a noblewoman’s birthday. This part is all comedy, with the Duke playing the stereotypical overprotective father and scaring off all of Juvelian’s prospects. At the same time, Juvelian and her father are constantly misreading each other – the Duke interpreting her fear of him as daughterly clinginess, Juvelian perceiving her father’s actions as murderous or coldly opportunistic.
This comedy of misinterpretations also applies to interactions between Juvelian and Max. Juvelian’s misunderstandings generally stem from the fact that she thinks he’s a commoner student of her father’s. As for Max, his misunderstandings are partly due to his developing attraction for Juvelian. While it is fun to see those unaccustomed feelings mess with his judgment, Max’s change of heart comes awfully quick for a guy who was about to kill her in cold blood only days earlier. At any rate, Juvelian is causing changes in the violent, murderous prince, and it’s nice to have Madame Freesia’s commentary so we can gauge the extent of those changes.
🕖Today I tell you the story of Juvelian, a falsely accused young woman who finds herself imprisoned. By a miracle, she wakes up in the past. As she travels back in time, she discovers that she was not only Juvelian, but had also been another person in a previous life.
✨️Ce webtoon had everything to please me: captivating tropes, a great plot and beautiful designs. What's more, it's adapted from a book of the same name! I started reading it when it first came out on Webtoon, but never finished it. I'm glad I got back into it, because I really enjoyed the first two volumes. The story is gripping, the pace well-paced and there's never a dull moment! The world is that of a fantastic kingdom, created with the help of Juvelian's father. Little information is revealed at the moment, but a few hints suggest that the official history of the kingdom isn't entirely true.
🌿I really like Juvelian, who is always looking to improve himself while looking out for those around him. Max, on the other hand, is the kind of character who causes misunderstandings because of his difficulty in expressing himself clearly. Beneath his sometimes rough demeanour, we can see a character who is less sure of himself, and I can't wait to see how he develops. But my favourite character is Juvelian's father, Legis. Cold and undemonstrative, he's trying to improve his relationship with his daughter, and I love following that progress.
💖 At the moment, I admit I need to read heartwarming stories, and Father, I Don't Want This Marriage is one of those webtoons that resonates with me. I can't wait to find out what happens next, how the characters develop and whether Juvelian and Max will be able to put their misunderstandings behind them. What secrets lie behind the creation of this kingdom?
it's kind of fluffy, and amusing isekai book you're going to love. the fmc has so many.. and i'm telling you really so so so many misunderstandings that I want to punch her in the middle of a chapter. but she's so endearing and adorable (the real reason: her father).
jubel and max relationship is the only wholesome thing cuz it triggers legis to kill max. their banter is so cute and hilarious that i could see it for damn eternity.
read it if you love isekai and protective father (.. overprotective) and amusing characters. it's my one of my fave isekai novels.. so please read it *heart eyes*
The duke is hilarious when he drives off her suitors, even paying a call in the middle of the night. He and Max are similar - mad if someone reject her, but pissed that they invite her. I’m not sure why so many invitations come if her reputation is so bad…the second guy the duke scared off seemed very persistent, not like he was asking just out of consideration for her father’s standing. Misunderstanding abound from all sides. Max has a terrible reputation but appears to already be tamed completely…
She said the imperial family is regarded as gods due to their ancestor. That seems to be incorrect since the common people are looking at the emperor as an unworthy coward.

Me encanto.
Volume 2 was so great. I love how Max reacts. How he misunderstands so much about Juvelian and I really feel sorry for him because I think oh I feel sorry for him now. I love how you learn more about the father and what he does without his daughter knowing. I love his attitude because he knows Max and how he rejects him for his daughter. Such a mega great plot where I just love every character.....bis on your ex and think it's so well worked out. I am so going to keep reading it.
3.5 ⭐ In this volume, the focus was primarily on expanding the world within the story, with a significant emphasis on detailing the intricacies of mana and political structures. While I acknowledge the effort put into this, I regrettably did not find it particularly engaging. However, I must highlight that the artwork was exceptional, and the intertwining of romance with the main storyline was indeed commendable. Consequently, I arrived at a rating of 3.5 ⭐ for this.
Normally the misunderstanding thing drives me nuts, but I will always have a fond spot in my heart for this story. Max and Juvelian are so cute for each other and the way they get to know each other is so adorable. I love all the teasing they get from the side characters about the confusion they cause.
I love this series with it's family, romance and humour. There are so many misunderstandings but it's in a humourous way that isn't annoying. As for Max and the Duke, they are so loyal and protective of Juvelian even if she doesn't understand the pure dedication these poor lads have to her. You just have to smile while reading this series, and I can't wait for more!
MAX in the cover. Totally eye-candy. The story line? Although it was a bit annoying at times because they keep misunderstanding each other (Daddy Legis and Juvelle) it was worth it. Definitely worth reading it. I'm so sad to see this end honestly.
I love Max. Such an adorable dork. Bruh, wtf's up with her dad????? Like, I need a serious backstory. Juvelle, you're a dumbass. I think I finally started reading her name right instead of automatically thinking 'Juvenile' 💀
