Kelcie Murphy is back in another action-packed middle grade adventure, Kelcie Murphy and the Hunt for the Heart of Danu, the second book in Erika Lewis's magical series infused with Celtic mythology, The Academy for the Unbreakable Arts.
It’s hard having a father who’s an infamous traitor. It’s even harder having a mother who’s an omen of doom.
After a summer away, Kelcie Murphy is excited to be back at the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts. But she and her friends have barely settled in when they receive a visit from her mother―the war goddess, Nemain―with a warning of coming calamity.
The Heart of Danu, the legendary source of all light and warmth in the Lands of Summer, is going to be stolen. And only Kelcie and her mates can stop it. As they travel with the rest of the students to Summer City to take part in the glorious Ascension Ceremony, Kelcie has no time for the military parade, the lavish ball, or even to visit her she’s determined to protect the Heart and her new home.
But the Lands of Summer are still not a welcoming place for Kelcie. When disaster strikes, the Queen, the High Guard, and even some of her schoolmates suspect Kelcie is to blame.
As the world is plunged into darkness, Kelcie will have to does she keep fighting for a place that may always see her as a traitor’s daughter, or for a future greater than the war to come.

Welcome back to the lands of Summer and Winter, where the action and adventure continues! The second book in the Kelcie Murphy series drops us right back into this fantastical world filled with mythical creatures, heroes, villains, and our intrepid heroine, Kelcie! Like the first book, this is a rollercoaster ride of action and adventure woven through with layers of emotional complexity. Lewis's world is rich, exciting, and fraught with danger at every turn! This is a series that grabs hold of your imagination and heart and I can't wait for book 3!!
We were so excited to receive an ARC from a Goodreads giveaway!!
I read book 1 in the series to my 10 yo daughter last year and we were immediately transported back into the world of Kelcie Murphy by this second one. We were a little confused by the introduction to the Land of winter and Lexis's character and it took a minute for us to get used to the alternating perspectives. We got the hang of it though and loved the development of the characters and their relationships and also learning about a new land. This book has a lot of new mythological creatures and fantasy elements that made it very exciting. Swappy Toots was one of our new most loved characters and we hope to see more of him in future books!
What worked: Kelcie and her friends find themselves in the middle of serious drama once again that ranges from saving the Land of Summer from total destruction to navigating boy-girl relationships. Kelcie learned in the first book that she has the rare abilities of a Pulse, able to manipulate all four elements of land, water, air, and fire, although she hasn’t learned to control them without disastrous outcomes. Much of her focus in this book is training in sword skills plus she must eventually learn to blend them with her elemental abilities. She’s upset with Niall but he’s dealing with complications arising from being the queen’s son. She must sort out her feelings for him (is she a bit jealous?) before the time of the formal ball arrives. In the book’s prologue, readers discover the Land of Winter has a plan for revenge against the Land of Summer, and a young girl named Lexie has been ordered to go undercover at the academy. It’s not exactly clear what she’s going to do once she gets there so readers have plenty of time to imagine what kind of chaos she’ll create on Ascension Day. Lexie quickly “befriends” Kelcie and subtly begins to dig for information from her friends. She tries to ignore their kindness and remembers there will be serious consequences from the queen if she fails her mission. An interesting twist to Lexie’s character is that she’s a Pulse like Kelcie although her skills are more developed. Her fianna moves behind the scenes with their own elemental powers, preparing for the attack, but again, readers will have no idea where the plot is headed. The lands of Summer and Winter have been waging a never-ending War since their origin. No one seems to know why they’re still battling and their queens dispense propaganda to maintain the conflict. However, this book brings characters from the two cultures together allowing them to compare and contrast the two lands. This consideration is mostly presented through Lexie’s eyes since the other characters don’t know she’s from Winter. She’s immediately surprised by the vivid colors but she later wonders about another character’s clipped wings. She’s heard about how Roswen failed the Winter queen and wonders who might have dished out her punishment. This motivates Lexis to fulfill the queen’s mission but she has second thoughts when she discovers the truth about the Heart of Danu. What didn’t work as well: There are many references to events from the first book and readers may feel like they’re missing information, especially with regards to Kelcie’s first year at the academy. The story shares how her father is the most hated man in the world but readers won’t fully understand why. Also, even though Kelcie is the main character with rare abilities, readers may need to remind themselves that she’s not the leader of her fianna. The Final Verdict: This book has a myriad of intriguing problems that will engage and entertain readers. There are many dynamic characters with contrasting fiannas from both Winter and Summer. Overall, this book and series should fascinate middle-grader readers and I recommend you give them a shot.
I loved the first book in this series and this sequel did not disappoint! It is loaded with action and intrigue right from the get-go. I love that it starts just dropping you into this foreign viewpoint of unknown characters and twists what you might have thought about Winter in the first book. You quickly realize the Summer isn’t exactly as good as they are leading everyone to believe and Winter is more complicated as well. Just like in real life, conflicts have two sides and it’s not always an good vs evil kind of thing.
I really enjoyed the switching viewpoints in the book. It gave great perspective from both sides and made you realize how Kelcie and Lexis were both seeing things more similarly than they might have expected. Both are torn and conflicted about whether they really should be enemies. They both had great growth over the book and became heroes in their own right. I’m excited for the next book that will hopefully bring them together again.
There was lots of battles in this book. I felt bad for these kids at some points as it seemed they couldn’t catch a break. The foes they faced in thsi book were much darker and creepier than the first. Vampire owls, banshees, a headless horseman and bloodthirsty seers and bodachs with their tentacles and decaying bodies. The battle scenes are pretty epic and Kelcie and her fianna have definitely upped their skills. There were a few times where I said whoa out loud while reading almost picturing the scene as if it was in a movie. Like that moment where everything slows down and then speeds back up as Kelcie twists her twin blades in anticipation of attack. Loving those swords and how Kelcie is now able to combine her magic with them. Really hoping they are in the next book and we get more explanation about why she is so bonded to them.
I felt slight frustration with Niall’s distance through the book and how it wasn’t ever really talked about. At one point I thought something more magical must be up since when we left them in book one they were so close and just starting to develop into maybe more than friends. Throughout this book he is distant and sometimes seems mean towards her and never really explains a good reason why. I really enjoyed their bond in the first book and missed it in this.
I am excited to see what happens next as this book ends with us pointed toward something I think will be epic and will unite both fiannas to achieve. Again the magic and world building was incredible and I can’t wait to discover more about the world that Erika has created for us readers.
Thanks to Netgalley and Tor Publishing for the early reader copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest review.
After a fun break with her cousin and a last fateful week in Chawell Woods, visiting family and training her elemental powers with other keen young Fomorians, Kelcie Murphy is ready for her second year at the Academy for Unbreakable Arts. This year is special for several reasons. First, more Fomorians have joined the school, another great step towards showing the lands of Summer that they are not all traitors to the realm. Second, the Queen has announced numerous festivities to celebrate crowning a new regent, which means the school’s fiannas are competing to be included in the military parade through Summer City. But a few soldiers from Winter have been sent on a dangerous mission, becoming spies and infiltrating the ranks at the school. When they steal a precious object right from within the place, it’s up to Kelcie and her fianna to journey into Winter and retrieve it before all of Summer falls.
The second book in what has been so far an eventful, high stakes series, Kelcie Murphy and the Hunt for the Heart of Danu brings back the favorite recipe for success with all the beloved main characters and their incredible school, but introduces way more depth to the world by bringing readers into enemy territory for the first time. For all that the two sides are at war, this book does an amazing job of showing just how beautiful both lands can be and how normal and peaceful most of the people are. You start to question the logic and intention of leaders who recruit children to train for their armies, who would destroy livelihoods, whole cities, maybe even an entire people based on nothing more than a generations-long feud. No one can seem to remember the origins of the fight, which I can see becoming a major plot point of the next book while Kelcie, her fianna, and her unlikely friends from Winter try and figure out how to finally resolve the endless conflict between the two lands. I’m very much looking forward to the next piece of the adventure. I will say that this book had a bit of a long setup, and the actual titled hunt didn’t truly get going until well over the halfway point. There was also a little unnecessary and somewhat unresolved character tension that, as always, would have been solved by taking a moment to have a good conversation. Despite those nitpicks, this book was still a lot of fun, and I really can’t wait to keep reading along whenever Kelcie’s next tumultuous year of school finally takes place.
Kelcie Murphy is preparing to enter her second year at the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts, and she is finally getting the hang of her magical ability that was hidden from her for most of her life. This year, there are an assortment of new friends joining her at school, and one new student in particular is not like the others. Lexis secretly comes from the Land of Winter, and she has an important and secret task to complete in addition to her studies. And when an evil omen threatens the people of the Land of Summer, Kelcie and her companions must combine their abilities to prevent the worst from happening.
This second in the Kelcie Murphy series picks up shortly after the first book ends, launching into another school year after a busy summer. The narrative alternates perspectives between Kelcie and Lexis, often showing two sides of a similar coin, and revealing secrets to readers that other characters do not initially realize. Throughout the novel, the question of good versus evil is frequently referenced, especially as characters compare what they have been taught to what they see happening around them. Young readers will recognize this experience in their own lives as they reconsider the messages they have received in their youth and begin thinking for themselves.
Readers who enjoyed the first book in this series will fall easily into this second installment, especially as there is enough backstory to remind readers of what happened before without being overwhelming. Lengthy chapters and small font can be intimidating at first, but as readers get deeper into the narrative, it flows smoothly thanks to its frequent action sequences and plentiful dialogue. Celtic culture and language surround Kelcie’s experience, and as magic and identity intersect, several modern conflicts become visible in an entirely different context. Throughout the story, readers will find themselves transported along with Kelcie as she navigates the challenges of youth, first romance, and the larger events happening around her, and they will enjoy returning to Kelcie’s world to watch her grow. This is an immersive tale that is well suited to mature middle grade readers.
In the second novel of Erika Lewis’ series, The Academy for the Unbreakable Arts, she has created a novel that is in some ways far better than the first book. Kelcie Murphy and the Hunt for the Heart of Danu is complex and engaging. It creates a conflict that is bigger than the first book. Kelcie is just as fun and engaging as a character but with the addition of Lexis from Winter, we learn more about the world, the conflict between Summer and Winter, and see more of the complexity of the war and its impact on different individuals in both places. We also see how the Fomorian’s are treated after the actions of Kelcie’s father. And while Kelcie once again has to try and save her world, she has to accept help from unexpected places and learn how to forgive others much as she was forgiven for her actions in the first book.
The characters and the world are fantastic. I love that Kelcie is able to use her abilities even better in this book and you see true growth in her both as a person and as a leader. All of the characters grow but Kelcie and Lexis grow the most. Both are complex and engaging. And both are incredible characters that will appeal to middle grade readers. This fun book will keep readers on the edge of their seat but also enthrall readers because it is complex and engaging. If you like mythology, you’ll love this novel. It teaches how to work together but also how to change and grow, to accept others. And that’s a lesson all of us can use from time to time. Middle grade readers will love this sequel.
This was my favorite so far. The war between Winter and Summer Lands continues, and it has lasted so far many, many years, so many that people have already forgotten the main reason.
Before anyone starts questioning the logic of these attacks and retallions and stops pointing fingers at each other to start communicating, Winter Lands sends a teen spy to the Summer Lands.
The new character is cool and has her own POV. I liked her a lot. In the meanwhile, Kelcie is in recruiting mode, trying to bring more talented new students to the Academy. But is war the right path?
Well written. Each character has a different goal, only to discover that there is more to their mission like misunderstandings, omissions, and lies that are discovered. And when we think the Summer Lands are finally condemned and there is no way out, Kelcie and her friends travel to the human world that acts as Switzerland to find an entrance into the Winter Lands. A new adventure starts. It's like 2 books in one.
It was exciting, and the audiobook was also amazing. Some are trying to belong, others to prove themselves, but in the end, they are the same and understand each other. Not all have a resolution just yet. There are still some things that need to be solved in book 3.
Action-packed, filled with humor, awesome humor, many fantastical creatures, magic, fun characters, lots of characters, always on the move, high-stakes missions, love interest, new friendships, kindness, acceptance of differences, and team spirit of community.
After a summer spent reuniting with some of her family, Kelcie returns to school along with some new friends. But the war between Summer and Winter continues to brew new troubles. A traitor sneaks into Summer and into Kelcie's life. Her mother finally speaks to her, but only to bring ominous warnings. And despite all her efforts, Kelcie is unable to contact her father, and instead messes up her relationship with her best friend.
There's a lot packed into this book. The plot is fast paced and continuously changing. New creatures, characters, and places are introduced. Nice as it is to see so many new ideas, the constant action and new info was a job to keep on top of, especially if one doesn't read the entire book in a short and continuous time period.
I liked how several characters were given their own redemption arcs. This book is intended for a younger audience, so several ideas are a bit juvenile, like the awkward pre-teen romance, and the plot is somewhat simplified, but it's prefect for its intended audience.
When Winter strikes a dangerous blow, Kelcie and her friends embark on a desperate mission to save Summer. Taking along lots of magical weapons and their own special abilities, Kelcie and her fianna come face to face with old and new enemies. But in the process of saving their home, Kelcie and her friends face the results of the long war, and begin to question their beliefs. Are they on the right side of this war, and what are they truly fighting for?
The second book in the Kelcie Murphy series is another fun magic filled story! With so many battles and relationships, there is something for everyone!
Kelcie Murphy has spent the summer away from the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts and now that it is time to go back, she has a visit from her mother warning her of coming danger. A legendary source of light and warmth in the Lands of Summer, the Heart of Danu, is going to be stolen and it is up to Kelcie and her friends to stop this from happening. Unfortunately, with every step they take, things go wrong, and Kelcie is quickly looking like the bad guy making her job even harder.
I enjoyed the first book in the Kelcie Murphy series and was looking forward to this one. I will say that the story was good, the characters developed even more from the first book and left things open for more. The one thing I did not like was the fact this is a book marketed to children and towards the end there is a character that is thrown in that is gay. My main issue with this is the fact that it is in a children’s book, there is no need for that. Had this been written and marketed to adults I wouldn’t say anything, but when it is in books for children I don’t agree. That is really my only negative aspect of the book, and it isn’t blasted all over the pages, but it is in there enough.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.
It’s hard having a father who’s an infamous traitor. It’s even harder having a mother who’s an omen of doom."
Like I mentioned a few times before, I normally give a summary for the books I review, but I can't for this one without my brain imploding. Explaining my predicament here would be long and confuzzling, but when I love books A WHOLE LOT I somehow can't summarize them without going on a full-out book rant. 😂 Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this lol
The first book in this series was absolutely amazing! I couldn't put it down! This one did not disappoint - it was just as good as the first one! Maybe even better! I loved the action! The different povs were great! I loved seeing the characters' perspectives on the war and how they were so similar, even though they were on different sides of the battle.
The bond between Kelcie and the rest of her fianna was amazing!
Getting to know Winter and the Winterfolk better was awesome! (I'm running out of adjectives, here 😅) All in all, this was a spectacular (ha, found one!) read and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy!
Harry Potter, Keeper of the Lost Cities, and Percy Jackson fans will have found a new favorite!

“The Kelcie Murphy Series” is a fast-paced magical adventure series that introduces readers to Kelcie Murphy, a strong female lead. This collection holds a Harry Potter-ish atmosphere as a magical school story with a twist of Irish Celtic mythology.
Kelcie Murphy and the Hunt for the Heart of Danu (book 2) is even more exciting than book 1, as we are immersed in Kelcie’s second year at the Academy. This book introduces Lexie’s point of view, which is an interesting contrast beside Kelcie’s. I enjoy seeing both sides and their motives. There are high-stakes, romance, friendships, and plenty of action.
This is a fun series for middle-grade readers who enjoy magical stories with elements of humor, and strong heroines who are fun to connect with.
Series: The Academy for the Unbreakable Arts 3-book series Genre: Fantasy, Magic, Middle Grade fiction Author: Erika Lewis Reading Age: 8-12
#CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% mine.
Thanks to NetGalley & Tor Publishing Group for the early copy in exchange for an honest review.
Fantastic sequel! My favorite part is how the author adds a NEW point of view--Leixs! She's a new character with her own chapters and the twist you find out in the first chapter is that she's got something bad up her sleeve...but you end up understanding her motivation and she becomes a sympathetic...antihero? Or something like that.
Kelcie and her misadventures continue and it goes even deeper with the worldbuilding which I LOVED! I really don't have a single complaint about the series, it's so good. I love how fast-paced it is and how vibrant Kelcie is as a protagonist, the magic system is so fun...I could go on. Damn good series. :)
I wouldn't try to read this book without having read the first one because you'd miss out on a ton of character & plot development. This book does a decent job of catching you up quickly but it's still a lot of lore to cram in the sequel.
Here's the thing. The plot is interesting and I love fantasy books with magic systems. But this sequel is unfortunately very similar to the first book – hard to follow PLUS like 10 new characters to try and keep up with and remember.
The action scenes are especially difficult to follow, and the characters are referred to by their first name, last name, rank/species, OR nickname; and it constantly changes from chapter to chapter.
I'd expect that from a YA or adult book. But for a middle grade book, I just can't see most kids being able to keep up with what's going on.
For what it's worth, my kiddo will definitely want to read the next book in the series. He wasn't constantly questioning why the adults were putting the fate of the planet in a bunch of 13-year-olds' hands 😆 I'm definitely a harsher critic than he is.
Thank you to Tor Publishing Group and Erika Lewis for the advance reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Kelcie Murphy and the Hunt for the Heart of Danu is the second book in Erika Lewis’ Academy for the Unbreakable Arts series. And it’s imperative that you read the first book prior to its successor. In fact, it’s a good idea to read them one right after another, as there’s a lot of details and nuances that can be forgotten.
As with Kelcie Murphy and the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts, there’s a lot of action in Kelcie Murphy and the Hunt for the Heart of Danu. This keeps the story moving forward at a strong pace. Lewis continues to build on a unique storyline that utilizes Celtic mythology.
Lewis has created a complex world that is fascinating. It’s also fairly complicated. The suggested age range is 8-12, but it’s a better fit for more mature 9- or 10-year-olds. I could even see readers into their teens gravitating toward this one.
This is a fun series. Some parts are similar and put me in the mind frame of other series, such as the “Percy Jackson” series. It’s not a bad thing; I love that series. The difference is the mythology. I’m unfamiliar with Celtic mythology, which made it exciting and fun to read. Celtic mythology was a little confusing for me, but that’s because I wasn’t familiar with it; however, it didn’t take me out of the story.
Much of Book 1 is spent in the academy, which makes sense. It was interesting to see the school setting and the magic system. Book 2, however, is a little action-packed, especially since Book 1 is more background. The stakes are raised, so the tension is high. There’s much more happening in Book 2, so it’s a little longer. It took me a little while to get into the book, but once I did, I enjoyed it. You get to see what Kelcie is made of, and that was exciting.
Another incredible addition to the saga. The characters get even more depth and complexity, the shades of grey get even less clear cut, all through an exciting adventure.
I love how this book explores how, in a war (or disagreement), both sides view themselves as righteous. The characters come to realize things are not as black and white as they thought, and they struggle with that, have a hard time standing up to authority even when they aren't sure it is right, and face consequences for challenging the status quo when they choose to do so. It is an authentic and important portrayal of standing up to power.
The romance in these books is sweet and perfect for tweens. Lots of awkwardness and blushing and a recognition that real caring underlies it. I appreciate it not trying to turn kids into adults.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as did all of my children ages 7-12.
After spending summer break with her grandmother, Kelcie Murphy is back at The Academy for the Unbreakable Arts with a whole new cast of characters and mystical creatures. But this time around things are a bit different – Kelcie and Brona receive dire warnings about the future from a surprising source, there’s a Winter spy in their midst, and Niall, who has become an overnight celebrity, is acting distant.
When the traitor is revealed and the plot to steal The Heart of Danu is exposed, Kelcie and her Fianna band together for another action-packed expedition to save The Lands of Summer.
I absolutely love this cast of characters and the captivating plot will keep you glued to the pages. I can’t wait to read the next installment of this series to see how this story ends!
Thanks to the Goodreads team and Tor Publishing Group for the ARC of Kelcie Murphy and the Hunt for the Heart of Danu. This is the second book in the series, and eventhough I had not read the first one, I caught up quickly. The storyline was exciting. Good vs. Evil. Two wrongs don't make a right. Learning to collaborate and put trust where it is due. Learning to question what you are told by looking at the facts. Always hanging on to hope. This is a combo science fiction, dystopian, fantasy middle-grade novel with strong female protagonists. My LFL middle-grade readers are going to enjoy this book! I look forward to reading the third installment, whenever it comes out.
I received an ARC via the Publisher though all thoughts are my own.
Kelcie and her friends are back in another fascinating action-packed adventure.
I loved that Kelcie was able to be reunited with her Grandmother, learn more about being a Fomorian including her powers and her Clan in general.
Full of mystery, Celtic Mythology, humor, the power of family, the special bond of found family and several twists. This series has become one of my favorites and I love the Celtic themes as well as creatures sprinkled throughout the story.
I found myself caught up in this book from beginning to end and am so excited for the next book.
Another middle-grade mythology-inspired fantasy series (this is the second book), with similarities to Harry Potter, Rick Riordan's books and those by diverse authors under his imprint, and The School for Good and Evil. This series incorporates some Celtic-inspired mythology, but very loosely with a lot of artistic license.
I had trouble getting into this one, possibly because I had not read the first one, so I would advise others that this series does need to be read in order, and reading the first book is important to understand the characters and their world.
An entertaining enough read, but not a must-read or must-have.
Another great installment to a wonderful series. I honestly thought when I read the first book yeah ok here we go another book about kids in a magic school. But I love how it’s set in different worlds and we finally get a chance to see Winter. I also enjoyed getting to know more about Kelcie’s family biological and den. The writing was fast pace but still imaginative and descriptive that you don’t realize how far along in the story you’ve gotten. The new character of Lexis was not a favorite but grew on me with time. I will most certainly be reading the next one when it gets published.
Welcome back to the world of summer and winter and two schools warring on behalf of the queens that rule each. Kelcie is working on controlling her rare ability Pulse which allows her to hold all four elements of land, water, air, and fire, but usually, this results in a disaster or two. We know from the prologue that the Land of Winter has set a young girl named Lexi to destroy Summer by stealing the heart of Dandu. This series is action-packed, has a heart in its characters, and will fascinate any middle-grader reader who picks it up.
Another great installment in the Kelcie Murphy series. If you are a fan of Rick Riordan, JK Rowling, Kelley Armstrong, or Holly Black then this series is for you. Kelcie and friends go on another epic adventure to save the Lands of Summer. I love that Kelcie finds out so much about her past in this novel and is able to start the process of healing. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Special thanks to the author(s), publisher, Goodreads and/or NetGalley for the review copy. All views and opinions expressed are honest and my own.
We’re back in another adventure after a well deserved break. Kelcie Murphy is excited to be back with her finna at the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts. But that’s not without spending time with her family and bringing in three Saiga’s to enroll. However, peace doesn’t last long because the Lands of Winter have sent in students to infiltrate the Lands of Summer and steal the Heart of Danu. Now, it’s a race against time for Kelcie and her finna to get back what was stolen or risk losing those they hold dear.
I enjoyed reading this installment in the Kelcie Murphy series. I felt like it went faster because most of the foundation was laid out in the first book. However the world building surrounding the Lands of Winter fell flat for me. Although it was simple to understand, its setup was similar to the Lands of Summer. I would have loved it if there was some difference between the two lands in an effort to show the beauty and personality of each season.
The plot in this book is quite common and the execution is interesting. I have trouble with the writing style because I cannot feel the individual character personalities but the story is fast paced and engaging. Throughout the story there are multiple twists and turns that are quickly conquered to move the plot forward. That said, I felt that there were some unnecessary events that didn’t add value to the story.
Surprisingly I wanted to read more about Elliot Blizzard and I started to dislike Niall. This book made me do a complete 360 degree turn regarding these two characters. I wanted to read more about Elliot’s past and his relationship. In this installment, it was clear he wasn’t an inherently bad character but possibly someone forced to do what he did. Niall on the other hand, had a questionable personality change in this book. It went unexplained but his rude behavior made me feel bad for Kelcie throughout.
Friendship is a key theme in this series alongside family. However, there is also diverse character representation both in the romance and the character profiles. This series does an amazing job by introducing them so naturally into the story and making sure to remind the reader gently from time to time.
Overall, this was a good story. I struggle with the writing but the story is interesting and I’m looking forward to continuing the story. At the end of this book, our characters have started to pair into romantic relationships indicating a possible happy ending for everyone. Although I enjoy romance, I hope the action continues and we get the answers to our many unanswered questions.
The exciting sequel to Kelcie Murphy and the Unbreakable Arts. Kelcie and her friends are back with a new cast of friends, enemies and fantastical creatures (can you say Vampire Owls?!) as the Summer/Winter battle continues, with the line of good versus evil blurring more and more. You won't want to put it down and it will leave you impatient for the third book.
Although I haven't read the first book in this series, I was quickly brought up to date in the story. This is a good book for middle school readers, easy to follow along with a simple storyline. The young readers will identify with the heroine and her group as they attempt to save the day.
The Hunt for the Heart of Danu was a great sequel to the original books and continues the story perfectly. It is the same magic the same writing and the quality of the book doesn't decay at all. I read this book a long time ago so I can't give a very detailed review but I definitely recommend if your 10-15 or is just looking for a calm good book. Get this book immediately and also the third book.
This series just gets better and better! I LOVE the relationship between Niall and Kelcie, and Kelcie and her friends. The whole storyline and setting is so creative. Think Percy Jackson with Celtic mythology. Amazing!
