This is a well-known Easter Bunny song that is snappy and fun to sing. This board book has bright and detailed illustrations and all the kids have enjoyed reading this book!
An anthropomorphic rabbit creates and furtively distributes Easter goodies with the help of varied furry friends, much to the delight of small white children. If you don't know the tune to "Here Comes Peter Cottontail!" - or worse, you're like me and think you know it - you're going to sound like an absolute boob trying to sing your way through this book. You'd be best served by brushing up on the music beforehand - or giving this a straight reading instead.
--- My four-month-old seemed neither fascinated by my sing-song rendition or my straight reading of this book, but listened patiently both times.
This is mostly just an okay book. It takes some of the lyrics (all maybe? Whoever gets past the first line anyway?) of the song and turns into a book, which is fun for a few pages...and then the lines get increasingly longer for some reason and then it turns into a nightmare to read in rhythm or even sing.
Mom tried to read/sing this multiple times with 15 month old Leo (including one Alexa-assisted musical attempt) but he stalwartly refused to finish it. Guess it's just not his jam!
2/22/17 I pulled this it of the book shelf tonight at bedtime. Mom wasnt excited about it, but she started reading. Then I noticed a blue button and pushed it... Music plays! I danced along. I pushed the button about 30 time, starting and around the music and dancing. This is the best book ever! But mom kept trying to read and interrupted the music, and turning pages... What's up with that?
2/26/17 I have been playing with this book a lot for the past few days. The battery isn't working right any more so some of the notes sound funny. But I still love it and dance. Mom finally read it to me again tonight because I kept pointing and saying book and playing the music. It is less fun when she reads because she wants to turn the pages.
We are ready for Easter now! The version we got is a paperback that came with stickers and a special page to put them on. So we are adding a sticker every day before Easter. Fun!
Here Comes Peter Cottontail is a good story about cause and effect and why you should obey the rules. It's a good book to read to little children or for beginning readers to read.
