Twenty one years ago, Evander Laun and Natalia Havashire went on the air throughout the world on almost every news channel simultaneously, to reveal to the human race that Elves walked among us. It is the most-watched historical event in modern times.
Riicathi follows a new fledgling Elf, Killishia Renner, as she investigates for Channel 3 News, a series of robberies in New York City perpetrated by a band of Elves.
Her investigation coincides with the chaos caused when the International Elf Council finds she is of Riicathi blood, a clan thought long dead, and the repercussions it holds for Elvish society.

Both tThe second book in this series and second I've read by this author (ETA: apparently forgot I had read another book in between first in this series and this one).
The elf that didn't know she was an elf until she elfed on tv continued. Well, series continued. Beginning of book kind of repeated end of other book. eh, whatever.
Prior book was kind of fun. This one was kind of less fun. The lead, Killishia, continued her flirtation with [insert name here], the daughter of one of the two leading elf families though, if I recall correctly, this continues as a super slow burn type of situation. Hell, [insert name] spends part of the book angry her boyfriend/fiance? point blank made a play for Killishia. Eww all around. Eh.
Whenever third book comes out I'll read it. Hopefully it raises back up to the higher fun of first book.
Rating: ... no real idea what I rated it. I mean, I know it was something around 4 stars, but I do not recall if it was closer to 3.75 or closer to 4.24 stars I rated it after initial read. March 29 2022
Candy fluff and a little too sweet This series is light and dumb and sweet. It's classic Erik Schubach. (Maybe cliche Erik Schubach) It has elves in New York and shopping, and first kisses and getting that promotion at work and being so famous that they let you into nightclubs for free and make memes about you. It's magical wish fulfillment with nothing worse at stake than blushes and social awkwardness. Want to give your brain a cozy bubble-bath? well here is the way. If you're the kind of person who tries to figure out the mystery as you read by assembling the clues in your head, this book will likely frustrate you to tears. This isn't intellectually interactive, it's pure emotion. The stupefying obtuseness of the character is like a Zen Koan, it's there to help you shut off your analytical mind and just marinate in the innocent frivolity of mindless entertainment. (This book is really dumb, ...but sweet)
I’ve read several of his other series, but this one is the most engaging of them all. I am enjoying all of the world building and character development, and am eagerly awaiting the next book, even though this one is still fresh off the presses.
A very enjoyable read that once I had started I didn’t put down until I had finished. Killishia is a bit too cute for my tastes, but she is still an interesting character. If possible I would have given 4.5 stars.
I burned through this book in an evening. A fun follow up to the first book. I was hugging my stuffed platypus the whole time as I read the story. The only problem is now I have to wait for the next one to come out.
Love the main character. She’s weak but strong, meek but powerful in her convictions. She’s a hoot! She’s geeky and totally unashamed. The other characters are rich and getting better in Book 2, obviously can’t wait for the next one.
The second books in a series are often let downs…. This is not. It’s as good as the first and it’s great to see the characters grow and develop. Can’t wait for the next.
My god! That was a good read! I loved the nuance given to the characters and their motivation. I’m not spoiling anything of course and the ending *whistles* quite the cliffhanger!
I liked the down to earth nature of the main character. She brings a refreshing aire to the image of an elf as portrait in most other books. Waiting for the next book with baited breath.
I loved this book, the Protagonist is very likable as is her love interest. The plot and world building are topnotch like always. I can't wait for the next one...
Really good read, I am really enjoying this series with its (REAL) slow burn romance - in fact so slow you want to enter the book and give them a little push. Looking for an HEA here! All three of the leads are great characters and are supported with a great cast. The story is simple nut interesting enough to keep the pages turning and the writing and timing are good. Looking forward to reading the series conclusion and could well look into more books by the author. Highly recommended series.
You never know what the second book of a great series will be. A disappointment? A grab for easy money. In this case you get a a great book . I thought book one was wonderful. This one is better! Next step, onto book three. Excellent story, thanks
The overarching plots continue to develop. Kia and her family have more secrets. The sleuthing in this book has more sleuthing. Very, very enjoyable. We learn a lot more about how Elf society operates and learn a lot about the history (including some dark history) of the elves.
The VERY slow-burn romance continues to smolder, and it is quite amusing that everyone acknowledges the romance except for the protagonist.
The end of the book is quite dramatic, and looks like it is going to take the series into a somewhat different, more traditionally UF direction.
This series is turning out to be fun! For as boring as meetings can get, especially political ones, I would be looking forward to any and all council meeting in this world with all of the drama that has taken place since Kia "Elfed". And who wouldn't love Lisa the Work wife/ Best Friend and the best parents a Half-Elf could ask for? This book introduced new characters and also had a pretty simple case to solve. Even though the stakes were low I quite loved the journey of solving them. I missed seeing more of Sonia though. And am looking forward to seeing more of the aforementioned new characters in the next book. Holla Out!
I don’t like that she acts like a 12 year old, It’s annoying. The insta romance and the constant reminder of it is also belittling to the character. The book wouldn’t be bad if you removed those two aspects. Your dealing with life changing issues and yet can’t jeep composure around someone you just met, it’s unrealistic and in my opinion a horrible troupe the arises constantly with female characters. I don’t understand why authors feel the need to embroil female lead characters in romance every step of their journey.
Nice world building, interesting characters. Could use a bit more editing and some of the phrasing doesn’t sound American, for a book set in NYC. Otherwise, engaging and a fun, fast read.
Light reading. Interesting take on a girl suddenly discovering she's an elf. Mixture of self discovery, crime and a pleasant read. Ends a bit violent, setting up for next book. Interesting enough for me to get the 3rd in the series.
It sounded interesting from the blurb, I had a free credit with audible, so why not? A semi-teen discovers she is an elf in hiding & must now cope with it Thanks, but having raised two young ladies to adulthood, I don’t need that drama.
--could use a decent proofreader. I realize the author writes prolifically (and, from what I've read of this series so far) entertainingly. But there's always time to avoid the "tenant" for tenet error. And to learn the difference between the verbs lie and lay.
Kili is back for her second novel. In the last novel she solved a mystery, now she is one herself. Revealed as a member if the Riicathi clan, she is the center of attention once again. See... the Riicathi clan was thought to be extinct....
Honestly this is just a fun, happy series. No grimdark, no nasty angst, just an enjoyable plot an fun characters to be around.
I can never get enough. When is the next book release? I have reread the entire series and the spinoff series several times and I am rereading them again.
