I'm a sucker for superheroes and reading something like this feels refreshing and lighthearted, even more when it's not a typical white hero. I loved Ulka's journey in this book, and her way to control her powers. However, some action scenes were rushed and I was left desiring more. I liked the pacing because it was fast (or perhaps because I love superheroes as well, haha). And definitely I'm waiting for the second book!

thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

Blessed or cursed?

A great superheroin story. A great introduction to this universe. The story is good with a lot of potential to build on.

Ulka is a Sigma, to X-MEN fans a mutant in a world that hates and fears them as much as they need them. There are also magic users called the Vikruids. If these all this was not enough Ulka's powers have not yet manifested yet. Now with a doomsday event on the horizon, even if Ulka's powers activate will it be too late?

This is not the only problem Ulka and her allies will have to face a corrupt king who will do anything to survive and turn this and any situation to his own advantage. As well a manipulating nemesis, all in a days work for a superhero right?

This is a great origin story for Ulka, I do hope in the next book or as the series progresses, the side and support characters are developed a bit more as I think each of the has a lot of potential as well. The mix or science and magic is great, the Indian flavour and culture is really well done. Even without the cliffhanger ending I would definitely want to read the next book in the series.

Owning a superpower is a gift or a bane? On the one hand, you'll be revered for it, whereas on the other, there'll be somebody to keep you down invariably.

A guru in his monastery is growing & creating a troop of Sigmas to protect the planet & universe from any possible dangers. There are various classes of them, with Sigma One holding the smallest potential & Sigma Five with the most elevated. There's an anomaly with Ulka; she hasn't yet recognized her potential.

Doomsday is threatening the Earth & no one has any hint of how to rescue it. Did the Vikruids, those with magical abilities, know about this beforehand? Will the guru be able to prepare his pupils to combat this malicious entity, or is the end unavoidable? Secure your seat belts tightly as you are transported to a world complete with excitement, twists, turns & bags of shocks.

This novel has a distinctive narrative & is a delightful story that's fast-paced, making sure its readers are connected. I don't particularly recall reading any superhero book, but this one's cover page & its outline had my considerable attention. It was fully rejuvenating while it brought me tears in the emotive territories. I enjoyed how the writer constructed Ulka's captivating journey with all the practical ups & downs that typical individual encounters every day.

Yes, there were some grammatical mistakes which I'm confident the author will resolve before the following edition.

Altogether, a good creation that I'll positively suggest to everyone. And as for me, I can't delay beginning Book Two.

I received an ARC copy for an open and honest review.
I really liked this book and I read it in 1 evening. I enjoyed the differing powers of the sigmas and I thought Ulka was well fleshed out.
I enjoyed the rivalry between characters and I look forward to continuing Ulkas journey in the 2nd book.
Whilst I liked the characters, I felt there were too many big fights which ment they felt rushed - I would have loved to have more time spent on the asteroid as it was an interesting concept.
I don't feel that there was enough background to justify Mohitas hatred - it would have been beneficial to have a more detailed 'Why'.

Overall the story held my attention and I really enjoyed it.

My rating - 3.5/5

It's a fast-paced, engaging, superhero book with the writer's trademark combination of sci-fi and mythology. I enjoyed reading the book.

Spoiler Alert!
-----------

Guru Saum involved in the research of Sigma superhero genetics and his disciples(Sigmas) are forced to spearhead the challenge of destroying "Magnetar" - a space rock that could destroy Earth. (In this aspect, this book slightly reminded me of the recent Hollywood movie 'Don't look up.')

What I loved
----------
-> The concept of Sigmas. (Coincidentally, I was googling words like sigma and sigma rules just before I came to know about this book)
-> The fact that the Sigma gene is more common in women than in men. (Unlike the usual superhero ensembles)
-> Loved how visual the narration is. I could picturise the scenes very well, especially the action sequences.
-> The writer's narratorial ability to present even the most complicated sci-fi concepts in a simple and fluid manner.
-> The protagonist Ulka, her character arc, how her character portrays that even superheroes need training; they can be vulnerable and suffer from insecurities, guilt, fears etc
->Interesting characters(eg: Sigmas, Vikruids, Croc-men, Necromancers etc), twists, events, secrets/reveals, flashbacks etc
-> The intolerance faced by the Sigma community reflected all the inequalities like racism, casteism etc in the real world
-> The writer showed trauma due to childhood neglect, bullying etc through the character Ulka
-> Loved how the plot was so action-packed
-> King Rukmin represents the inaction and inefficiency of political leaders of our world(eg: in the case of climate crisis etc) who have got the priorities wrong
-> Liked how a fellow Sigma, Mohita becomes the representative of manipulation and toxic nature in the book
-> Favourite scenes: Ulka realising her powers for the first time, all the action scenes, the scene where Ulka directly looks at the sun etc I would love to see this book as an animation/movie because the descriptions were very visual.

Some suggestions
--------------
-> Character development/arcs - As a reader, I would have loved to read the backstories, struggles, motives etc of each character in detail eg: All the sigmas, Gurus, King Rukmin etc Also I wondered what really happened to Draksh and his disciples. Why was Guru Saum irrationally angry with Triveni? Such detailing could make readers like me more emotionally invested in the characters and the overall plot. I hope the second book in the series delves into these details.
-> Though I generally enjoy the mix of sci-fi and myth, in some instances of the book, I felt that this mix confuses the reader. The story happens in a world and time period where things like modern science, monarchy, curses, magic, computers, old weapons like bow and arrow, new weapons like missiles etc coexist. As a reader, my first thought was, maybe this is what would have happened if India where magic existed pioneered the major advances in Science & technology. Eg: flying chariots/magnetic chariots(magchars), archers launching destructive weapons etc But in the scene where Draksh uses archers to launch weapons to space, I couldn't help but wonder why the launch couldn't be automated instead of using humans where accuracy, precision etc might be inconsistent(To err is human, right?).
->I thought Magnetar would be the main/climax event of the story. And as a reader, I wondered why it was not, since this is a series and could afford such leisured pacing and heavy detailing.
->As a reader, I craved for more wow, BANG moments in the book.

I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review. I reviewed a previous work of Sayal's, a collection of short SF fiction, and I'm happy to say that his writing has improved with this new longform work. It's his take on the superhero genre, with a semi-secret society of (mostly female) heroes, some kind of societal regulation/ranking system, and an alternate-universe India ruled by a craven idiot monarch. The protagonist is a young acolyte just awakening to her immense power, and finding herself tasked with missions that have world-saving stakes.

Unfortunately, the characters and scenarios are not particularly exciting, and the action is written as if it is describing an MCU fight scene, complete with digital backlot. There are some cool ideas - an antagonist with mind-control powers imposes her will on others, but there are "rules" to this ability that only become apparent at plot-convenient moments. There are some satisfying twists, but the overall story never really grabbed me - I think because I never got much of a sense of what roles the Sigmas actually played in society. Oppressed, feared minority, like X-men, but also public figures? There's little sense of the world outside of the main players' lives and actions, so it was hard to tell what kind of impact any of the events were actually having. There's an ambitious space programme, a social media generation...none of it really fit together.

Despite being told the stakes I didn't really feel invested until things picked up in the final few scenes. However, I didn't have a bad time with this. As stated, things do improve toward the end, and once all the pieces are in place for the climax I was eager to see how they resolved. I hope whatever followups Sayal writes continue this upward trajectory, as there are some kernels of cool and interesting storytelling here.

INVINCIKA STORY OF SUPERHEROES

Ulka, training beside her other companions in a monastery. Everyone has a superpower but Ulka has not gotten hold of her power yet.
But literally series of events evoke her powers.

She is trying to get hold of her powers, but there are different threats to humankind and they are inevitable. Ulka is the only source to save them all.

Will she succeed in her mission ??
How it will affect her ??

The story was engaging and fast-paced but there are things that could have been improved.

1. It did not feel like Ulka had any trouble with understanding her power and needed any training though she was the strongest.
2. There were so many fights going on that it all felt rushed and neither any of the events felt to be handled seriously or thought to be the core reason for the story to keep ongoing.
3. There was not enough reason for Mohita's hatred. She had the potential to emerge as a powerful villain if had any solid reason.
4. All the story is kind of revolving around Ulka to show her power and she did not feel to be going in any particular direction except completing tasks one after another.
5. The concept of Magnetar could have been the real threat. If much time could have been spent on this concept it has the potential to become the backbone of the story.
6. It's a fantasy so it's hard to distinguish the time or era. It's neither in the Future nor in the Past because
.There is a king but there is Senate also.
. There is a bow, arrow, hammer, axe but there are also machine guns, bulletproof jackets, rifles
. There is a flying chariot kind of thing but there are also SUVs.

There are a lot of things to be discussed but no matter what this story was ENGAGING, fun to read, and I was intrigued to know WHAT NEXT ??

Are you anxiously awaiting a new Avengers or X-Men movie? Then maybe this book is for you.
Ulka is a Sigma waiting for her powers to develop and show themselves. Under the tutelage of Guru Saum she's frustrated and impatient. Then a major event happens and Ulka's powers are unleashed making her one of the most powerful superhumans on the planet. When another Sigma gets thrown out of the monastery she joins up with the corrupt King with vengeance on her mind. She promises to get even with both the Guru Saum and Ulka, now with the Kings ear and heart at her disposal she's sure to succeed. Add to that the danger of an approaching meteor that threatens the very existence of earth, an event that only Ulka can help prevent and you've got an exciting, action packed story. Will Ulka be able to thwart her nemesis in time to save her Guru, her planet and herself? You'll need to read this one to find out... to a point that is. It ends with a major cliffhanger.
I found this one to be an easy, lighthearted, enjoyable and quick read. I'm invested in Ulka's story line so I look forward to continuing the series. The feeling I got from the story is that it might be intended for a YA audience but that didn't keep me from enjoying it. I found the world building and descriptions very cinematic in nature so it was easy to visualize the action. If you enjoy a good, entertaining superhero story and don't mind a book ending on a cliffhanger, then I recommend you give this one a try.
.
Thank you to the author for the gifted copy for me to read, review and enjoy.

Book 1 in the Superheroes Of The Multiverse series is about superheroes, giant meteorites, jealousy and fear. It is fast-paced and action-packed and is a solid opening for the series. Just a word of warning, though; the ending may just leave you a little salty...

I did struggle a little getting into this, but that's because of my reading slump dragging me down; although, I did feel a little confused in the beginning and I do have some questions, but do keep an eye out for my full review, coming soon.

Rating: 3 stars (for now)

Invincika is a fascinating tale, filled with superpowers, monsters, and human supremacy. This story introduces us to a magical concept of Sigmas, superhumans with a variety of powers differing with each individual. From shooting a laser through one’s forehead to releasing green fumes on will, the sigmas are feared, respected yet hated in the kingdom. Their leader of the monastery, Guru Saum is a brilliant and wise man who’s calculative of every step and fosters wellbeing. The other weapons and brute force leader is Guru Draksh, known for building a powerful army.

Starting with an interesting introduction to Sigma’s magical powers to learn the differences between Vikruids. Reading this is a mix of Harry Potter and Avengers. Those who are blessed with magical genes are the ones who choose to perform magic. But, Sigmas and Vikruids need to beware of the king’s royalties, who are in charge of keeping the law while breaking it themselves. With utter disgust for magical folk, they can kill others in cold blood and walk away as if nothing happened.

An impending doomsday is signaled with the detection of ‘Magnetar’, a space collider on its way to the earth. The only hope of saving the earth lies in the hands of Guru Draksh and Guru Saum’s disciples. Written in multiple arcs and locations, the story is well-paced and is filled with plot twists that keep you turning the pages one after the other. There’s no easy feat with giant monsters, erupting volcanoes, and a powerful enemy scythe. The story also wonderfully weaves the connections between its female protagonists, showing how a best friend stays by you through the thick and the thin.

In the end, you’ll find yourself rooting for the superheroes with gritted teeth and carefully anticipating what’s gonna hit you next. It also teaches you that being a superhero doesn’t make you immune to trauma. The story loses multiple heroes, sacrificing their lives in battle.

Here’s my favorite quote from the novel:

“As a Sigma, a superhuman, I consider it my natural responsibility to fight such calamities and save lives. Many other Sigma has taken a silent pledge to do the same. And what do we get in return? All our lives, we Sigma are mocked, ridiculed, and punished. And even that ridicule and mockery, we take it and forget it. Some of us make it a part of our lives. But one thing we or I should say I, can never let go of is the feeling of being misunderstood. The feeling of being considered abnormal and being hated for what I am. It hurts deeply to be looked down upon as someone different. I am tired of that, your honor. It’s a truth that not all Sigma are innocent either. Some have brought death and destruction to this world too. I won’t deny that. But so have normal humans. Many of the issues plaguing our world have nothing to do with Sigma but with normal human greed. And clumping all of us Sigma as freaks is not acceptable. That is us being misunderstood for being different.”

Fresh out of the new Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness film, I was excited to read a book about superheroes. The coolest thing about this book is not only are all the superheroes people of color, but a majority are female. In the first chapter we’re immediately brought into the action of this world, and it sucked me in really quickly. One thing to note is this book doesn’t really delve into the multiverse it’s positioned more as an introduction to this superhero world and the superheroes called Sigmas.

While the action scenes were great throughout the book, they overshadowed everything else, including the overall plot. The book would have benefitted from more world-building and time spent on superhero back stories outside of the main character Ulka. Other than Ulka, Yagni, Mohita, the King and Guru Saum, we were given very flat versions of characters who were important to the story. Some of these characters felt more like devices to move the plot forward instead of individuals beings. It made it hard to empathize when bad things happened to these characters especially when only briefly introduced before they were killed off.

In addition to some flat characters, I found an overabundance of grammatical issues that took me completely out of the story at some points because it became confusing as to what was trying to be conveyed. Sometimes it was the incorrect use of a common word or phrase like instead of ’squash you like a fly,’ it was ‘quash you like a fly.’ The exact POV wasn’t clear at some points either. Although I believe it was supposed to always be 3rd person. Pivotal plot points happened a bit too conveniently at times where characters would know or think of something just at the moment it was needed, even if there was no previous mention of the helpful item. It showed a lack of motivation and struggle for the characters with things coming to them so easily.

Ulka is the one character we did see struggle in the beginning and throughout the book. Things still happen to her conveniently to further the story but, over the course of the book, we see this character with low confidence and self-esteem grow more sure of themself. I loved seeing that aspect of her character grow. But, in the very end there were a couple scenes that felt out of place with her peace-loving character. It was surprising to see her choose violence in some instances.

Overall, this book was an entertaining read. Sayal does a fantastic job of building the suspense at the end of each chapter to keep you hooked and wanting to read more. The ending of this book will make you want to get your hands on the next book ASAP. I’m curious to see more of this multiverse of superheroes, but I still wish we were given more insight into this superhero world to balance out all the non-stop action. If you like superheroes, you’ll find this to be an entertaining read.

Invincika is a fantastic superhero action adventure novel with a blend of sci fi. This is the first book in the Superheroes of multiverse series. With a fast paced plot and engaging narration delve to the exciting world of action, superheroes and dangers.

In the city of Swarna, we follow our protagonist Ulka who is training at the Saum monastery for the activation of Sigma gene. While the other disciples have already actively manifested their superpowers, her powers still lay dormant and she is losing her hope.

When Gurudev Saum instruct her to a company him for an important work to the capital city, she never anticipated her life to change. When a ballistic weapon is fired, Ulka take a hit that leads to awakening of her powers. With a dangerous Magneter racing towards Earth, the predictable chaos with the enduring potentiality of annihilation was absolutely certain. When the two most powerful and fully trained superhuman are unable to stop it, Ulka and her powers are the remaining chance of stopping the destruction to happen. However it's not that easy, the looming threats are closing in and her life is in danger as well.

Will she be able to save the world? And who are this people who are head strong on wrecking havoc?

A thoroughly compelling and exceptional action adventure book that left me flabbergasted! The writing style is utterly impeccable, the author's extraordinary and creative imagination carries the elements of vivid world building, strong protagonist, tumultuous reality, terror and hope working hand in hand and of course mind blowing turn of events that elevated the sense of adventure and ambitious journey. The elaborate description of Ulka's training and snippets of antagonist's ulterior motives where my favourite parts of the book. The author has explored each and every aspect and created characters that were fleshed out, without spinning any dull moment. The visually enticing scenes are powerful enough to impress and satisfy all the adventurous souls out there. The narration neatly encapsulates Varun Sayal's spectacular storytelling aptitude. His flair to brilliantly introduce remarkable action is nothing short of a prime example of an incredible talent that was definitely an intriguing reading experience unlike anything. My favorite character apart from Ulka, is Yagni, she has got a personality that I absolutely adore. I enjoyed this book a lot and after reading that epic cliffhanger, I cannot wait to the next book in this magnificent book series.

Kudos to the author who brought this wonderful story out in the world for us to read. I am super excited to know how the story going to go in the second book.

It was really lovely to take a break from all the sad stuff I’ve been reading recently, and engage with this superhero story. Although it starts off a bit stiff, and the dialogue feels very awkward the first few chapters, it gradually evens out, as the story really starts to gain its ground. We follow Ulka, who is trying to manifest her superhero powers to no avail, while all the other *takes a breath* sigma humans can do it easily. Before I proceed with this review, I have to say it. I couldn’t help but laugh at the whole sigma humans thing. I’m sorry. Tiktok ruined it. Everytime I read the word sigma I had to think of all those stupid podcasts that tell people to treat each other like horses, because it’s all about that winner (arrogant) mindset. It was very hard to take passages with the word sigma in it seriously, no fault of the book, just unfortunate timing perhaps, but let’s get back to the actual points of the review.

I didn’t like the pace, and some of the character development, but the idea was good. In short this was another case of a strong idea that just needed more polishing and better execution. What’s not to love, with the friendships, and the enemies, and the superheroes and the actually well thoughout plot? We had a lot of great friendships and support, and I loved how every character had their own motivations, it made them come alive. It was also fascinating to see how real life issues such as police brutality were reflected in the book, it made the setting more vivid, along with the different types of people (money and non money oriented, etc.) It really did feel like a parallel universe. The twist at the end, was wholly unexpected, and I didn’t love the fluctuation of the pace, it seemed a bit rushed, but it totally accomplished its goal of ending on a cliffhanger, and having the reader eager for more.

My issue was with the writing, it was very action oriented, with not a lot of descriptions of setting and the like, the story came together because of the telling, and there was a heavy lack of showing. I know Ulka is sad, because we’re told she’s sad. But it was obvious from the things she went through that she was sad. This just made the book feel overly childish at times, the writing felt middle grade, even though the subjects and themes were quite dark. Some pages needed heavy editing, with more focus made here, and less focus made there, and spending more time developing certain characters. For example Mohita is one of the most prominent characters for me, if we explored a more empathetic side of her too, we would have felt her presence better. I don’t regret reading this book, but it’s just not a new favourite.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I’d like to stress honest, all thoughts are completely my own

"Not everyone's journey is linear, not everyone's path is the same. Have faith in the Gods and more than that, in yourself."⁣
- Invincika - superheroes of multiverse # 1 by Varun sayal⁣

This story is about superhumans known as Sigma, who are born with incredible abilities. They are the ones who tend to save the world from any harm and help people rather than using their power for personal gain. Even their extreme and positive contributions to the world have not earned them a good reputation.⁣

The earth was about to face a doomsday situation because a magnetar was about to strike the planet. Vikruid and Sigma were two powerful magical humans. The king summoned them both to find a solution, but the king was the timid, and began secretly working on a spaceship to escape the earth as soon as any problem arose.⁣

Above all the Sigmas, there is one named Uika, who was the fifth and most rare sigma. People called her Invincika after seeing her powers. She hadn't developed any powers at first, which made her sad, but when she did, she was on a mission to destroy the magnetar, which she did. But there were more challenges waiting for her which she completed with her freinds. The freindship of Yagni and Uika was too loveable.

The battle continues, and they discovered that Mohita exacerbated the situation and started all these fight. As guru saum expelled her because of her bad behaviour towards others.⁣

Than story concludes when, despite Uika's constant efforts to save Swarna City, the judges rule that she should simply leave the planet. ⁣
⁣Something bad happened to her while she was leaving for other planet. What exactly is it? What effect will it have on Uika? This will be addressed in the second part. ⁣

The book is all about action, superhumans, superpowers, spaceships, solar systems, outer space, and other topics that will keep you reading until the very end.⁣

It was a tremendous read that reminded me of my childhood, when superheroes, their superpowers and adventures used to energise us; I felt exactly the same way.⁣ 💙

Parallel universes, super heroes, magic, and an advanced human race is what we get in this SciFi action thriller.

In this story, there are a few humans who carry a suppressed Sigma gene which, when activated, can provide superhuman powers. In the seventh parallel universe, humans, Sigmas (superhumans), and Vikruids (people with magic) walk the Earth which has a human King. Guru Saum helps people activate their Sigma gene and control their powers. Ulka is a student in his monastery who's Sigma gene is yet to activate and is at the receiving end of the bully, Mohita. However, an oncoming meteor, Magnetar, that could end the Earth and Ulka's hidden past unleash her abilities. She races against time to stop the Magnetar, unaware of some bigger powers lurking in the dark.

The author has woven an engrossing tale including parallel universes and three different types of humans. The plot moves at a steady pace, although there were a couple of instances where I felt it stretched a little but that is no dent to a magnificent tale. At first, I thought it would be a regular superhero story but the author does add his own twist to it.

The characters are portrayed really well and I was instantly drawn into their stories. My favourite character was Yagni who was always a true friend to Ulka, right till the very end.

This story is perfect for beginners and YA readers. The narration is simple and the language is easy to understand. Overall, it is a highly entertaining read. Eagerly waiting for part 2.

Imagine being born with a superhero gene and never developing that dormant power. Imagine being enrolled in a monastery to develop your supposed gift, and you end up the school bully’s target. This is precisely what happens to Ulka. For years she meditated and had enhancement drugs administered for her gift to manifest. When a Magnetar threatens Earth, a giant magnetic meteor and the two most promising Superheroes are lost their powers appear when her Guru, Saum, is in danger. As she discovers what she is capable of, others plot the downfall of all superheroes and their Guru. Even the King cannot be trusted. Can Ulka’s powers manifest so that she can save her planet, and what will the consequences of her actions be.

Varun Sayal writes a story full of science and magic where humans have genes that promise the development of superpowers. He delves into the two emotions that have forever fueled wars and discontent, jealousy and love. Some will take their jealousy to such lengths that they abuse the love of others to reach their goals. Others are so in love with themselves that they fail to realize their impact on society before it is too late. Others have so much love and compassion for others that they are willing to sacrifice themselves even for people they do not know. Invincika is a wonderfully relatable sci-fi read, and I can strongly recommend it to all the fans of superhero and multiverse theories.

➡ Fast paced science fiction grabbing attention with its remarkable storyline

• INSIGHT: The novel 'Invincika' is the first part of 'Superheroes of Multiverse'. It is about a Sigma 5, Ulka whose powers have gone dormant. How these powers are awakened with the help of which she saves the world from unprecedented dangers is what this book has in store for its readers.

• REVIEW: The Author has done a commendable job in storytelling. With characters having their own spaces to shine, the story got altogether interesting. Ulka, Yagni, guru Saum, King Rukmin or Mohita, everybody was given due importance, my favourite being Yagni. The story was fast paced. However, it got slow in the middle. Since the climax was not a cliffhanger, per se, I really want to see what else the Author has in store for his readers in the other parts of the book.

• STRENGTH: 1. The language of the book is lucid and easy to understand.
2. The author has used each and every character to its maximum capacity.
3. The title of the story suited it well as it revolved around superheroine Ulka, popularly known as Invincika.
4. The writing style of the author was different and had a required flow to it.

• WEAKNESS: 1. The cover page could have been better.
2. Some parts of the story were stretched and it got a bit boring too.

• TARGET READERS: This book is for new readers who love superheroes and science fiction.

• AGE GROUP: 10 years and above

• GENRE: Science Fiction

• RATING: 3.8/5

Ingeniously structured and so incredibly engaging; this novel is as ambitious as its heroine!

This is the origin story of Ulka- the first of many from the Superheroes of the multiverse and is a compelling read.

I don’t graze a lot of superhero stuff, but this book kept me hanging- on a rock edge cliff. I hope the next book is waterproof, I would see myself dipping from this cliff to the ocean. It’s that good.

Going back to the plot, the city of Swarna- our heroine has a power untried which is meant to save the planet of course- don’t look up- an incredible thing from the sky that is going to wound the world and dine it to pieces and will Ulka be able to protect the world?

A modest narration – keeping it very natural for a sci-fi-magical quandary is not easy and Varun does a striking job making this book an effortless read for all.

One extra USP of this book is keeping it superfast- there is no way you will be bored! Simple narration and a superfast plot make this book a roller coaster super ride.

I have reviewed previous works from Varun! Varun Sayal mixes science theories like Heisenberg and philosophies like Nietzsche and blends this into the fine bite of literature with extra toppings of humor.

Brace yourself, an Indian superheroine is on her way to bringing more adventure into our lives.

Ulka is a Sigma, but while all the sigmas have developed their powers, Ulka, on the other hand is struggling and has not developed any sign of the power yet.
But things change when Guru Saum takes her to solve the problem of a Magnetar, which is approaching the Septuous universe and with this speed , in not more than 10 months, this Magnetar will destroy the whole planet.
While assisting Guru Saum, Ulka and Saum survives a near death blast but something strange happened as well. Saum noticed Ulka's nerve centre is active and even a blast of this huge magnitude could not even kill her. Guru Saum understood that Ulka could be the key to stop the Magnetar but after this incident she is in coma.
Meanwhile the Magnetar has started showing its power, water levels are rising, the planet is facing earthquakes of high magnitude and dooms day is near and all the hopes of saving the planet rests on Ulka's shoulders.
Invincika is the first book of 'Superheroes of Multiverse' series. I've read a very few sci-fi,
But this one had me hooked till the end, it was adventurous and thrilling. Having already read one book from this author I was quite excited to read another book of his and I loved it.
Read this book to find out whether Ulka succeeds in her mission? Will she be able to save the planet when there is another danger waiting for her ?

Arduous!!!

I have never been so dismayed ad disappointed as I am with this book. Goodness knows how the next book will turn out, although I can clearly imagine it.
It is painfully obvious as to why I gave only a one star rating. Had there been a zero point available, this book would have had that.
This story obviously had never been proofed read. And believe me, it should have been before going to print.
While the basis of the story was a good one, it was so full of grammatical errors. I had to question myself many times, was this written by a child, or an adult with a child mind. The story telling was appalling and weak. Credibility was thrown out of the window. It made for arduous and frustrating reading and not at all enjoyable. Although it could have been.
Never in my entire reading career to date have I had to highlight so many mistakes. And some of those included words wholly inappropriately used in the wrong context. I have never seen some of these words used in some of the sentences. It was very of indeed.
Then you had the main character who seemed to have the mind of a deranged person and kept making silly childish mistakes.
This is only the second most abysmal and soul destroying book I have had the misfortune to read, out of thousands throughout my reading career.
It's only saving grace is that the basis of the story was okayish!

Definitely 8 to 8.5 stars out of 10. The stars above are rounded off.

The story starTs like:
Once upon a time, on planet earth, a pregnant lady was in her apartment, when she was attacked by someone. The lady was not ready to give up to the assailant who wanted to kill her. And, the lady was reluctant to save the child in her belly. So, she did something she was not allowed to do. But, to her surprise, something else also happened and…

The author introduces the readers to Homo Sigmus (Sigma Superhumans) in addition to that of Homo Sapiens. Varun also mentions Dr. Wilfred Mersh who identified this suppressed gene in 1968. Brief intro to Dr. Mersh' work adds authenticity to the fictional tale.

I like the way Varun elaborates characters, regardless of their genders. In those aspects, the book is fantastically balanced. In fact, the female characters are at the core, both protagonists and antagonists.

If you are an attentive reader, you will find that the author has consciously tried naming the characters that they can be linked to different civilizations and cultures.

The way the author introduces the readers to multi-verse and eventually takes the story to somewhere far in the galaxy, is amazing. And, the book ends in such a way that you will waiting eagerly for the next instalment.

So this book can be read for strong characters, amazingly woven tapestry of Science and Fiction, infused with thrilling moments altogether. It is definitely going to be an interesting reading experience.

Invincika
By - Varun Sayal
Format - Kindle Edition/Paperback
Print Length - 248 Pages
Genre - Science Fiction
My Ratings - 4.7/5

"Invincika" by Varun Sayal is a thrilling and action-packed novel that takes the reader on a journey through a parallel universe where superhumans and mutants collide. The protagonist, Ulka, is a highly relatable character who finds herself in a world turned upside down when her dormant powers are suddenly awakened by a ballistic weapon.

As Ulka grapples with her newfound abilities, a Magnetar races toward earth, threatening the very existence of humankind. With the superhumans sent to counter the Magnetar never returning, Ulka becomes the world's last hope. The stakes are high, and the action scenes are pulse-pounding and will leave readers on the edge of their seats.

The author does an excellent job of creating a rich and vivid world filled with complex characters and high-stakes action. The themes of self-discovery, bravery, and the fight against impossible odds are woven seamlessly into the plot, making "Invincika" a must-read for fans of the superhero genre.

Overall, I highly recommend "Invincika" to anyone who loves a fast-paced and action-packed read. If you're a fan of superhero stories with riveting action sequences, then this first book in the series is definitely for you.

Happy Reading

Ulka lives in a world of humans, Vikruid and Sigma. The vikruid are witches who train to gain magical powers but the sigma are born with magical powers in their genes, however Ulka though a Sigma, was a late developer but once her powers came in she became unstoppable. The Sigma were not respected even though they acted as superheroes to defend the human population but they were still considered by many to be aberrants and even King Rukmin wanted to see them eliminated. However when a magnetar was on it's way to colliding with their world and devastating it only Ulka could save them. But doing so meant putting her own life on the line and though she found help from her guru and others she also found those who would do anything to ruin her. Namely Mohita who had been the biggest bully at the monastery and who was out for her blood with a vengeance. I love the fact that the superheroes are mainly women, I love that when the battle got rough they all worked together to save the world and I also love the way the series is progressing and after that cliffhanger ending I cannot wait to start reading book 2.

Book: Invincika
Superheroes of the multiverse
By: Varun Sayal

Multiverse, the most booming topic in today's world. We all have heard of it and imagined how life would have been in this. But what if your imagination was full of magnificent powers that could change the world and save it from threats?

The book, Invincika, is all about the superheroes of multiverse who have the powers to save the world. But then there was Ulka who was different from the rest and found herself inefficient until a ballistic weapon turned the table of her life.

What do you think could have happened next??

Will Ulka be able to use her powers to save the world ??

All these questions are enough to ask you to go through this book.

The characters are interesting and the book is damn engaging I finished it in one go.

The plot is well maintained with the proper pace.

I liked the way author portrays the character of Ulka and how life can change in a go.

Overall the book deserves 5 stars and a must read title as I loved it.
If you haven't read it, buy it now from amazon.

Qotd : Do love reading super hero stories?
Aotd : Love
I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good thriller to read. Story were so relatable and so well-built. Author has tried to maintain the curiosity in every page of the book. You would not like to put the book down till you finish it.
The book gets you hooked right from page 1 and you can’t put it down till you finish. Extremely well written and nail biting till the very end. You also can never expect the development of the story line as the narrative is brilliantly constructed.
The plot is very good and the way the story was told from different perspectives and with a little bit of flashback here and there, made the book very engaging. There was not even a single point in the book where I felt like putting it down.

After the time travel series revolving around time demons, now a new series by the same author but this time it's about super heroes. First of all thanks Varun for providing me with your books for review. This book is about sigmas. Sigmas having different abilities extra other than normal. Ulka being a Sigma 5 the most powerful is the protagonist in this book and story revolves around her. How she realises about her power and how she uses it. As in all superheroes story you will find the world in danger first and then personal enmity after that. Same goes around in this one as well. Varun has given a lot of thought and have written this story very carefully and have made justice to each character. Overall i would say a good good Goodreads...🙂
