Master spy Twilight is unparalleled when it comes to going undercover on dangerous missions for the betterment of the world. But when he receives the ultimate assignment—to get married and have a kid—he may finally be in over his head!
Yor is assigned to be a bodyguard for a mafia family on a cruise ship by the secret organization Garden. But with Lloyd and Anya also on board thanks to a giveaway they won, Yor is starting to have doubts about her secret life as an assassin…
Ahhhh yes!!!! This volume is everything I love about this series. Yor being a badass, Twilight trying his hardest to be a cool Dad, and so much fun action and chaos as Anya tries to navigate both of her parents situations. This is one of my favorite volumes so far and I can’t wait to pick up the next one! 🥰
After getting it on release day, I’ve saved this volume for 3 & 1/2 months for that perfect rainy day. Because Spy x Family never disappoints.
Queue TODAY. Not only was it actually raining and cold, but I desperately needed an oil change. So I took this with me to my local Firestone and was told it would be an hour wait. I almost finished it in that time, and the leftover 20 pages I read in the parking lot because I needed to see how this epic action scene would play out.
This is getting a 4 instead of a 5 because it doesn’t quite stand up to the rest of the volumes. Also, this was published shortly after the anime going into production. And you can definitely tell that this was written to be an episode of an anime, not a volume of a manga. While I love Yor’s action scenes in this series, there were so many in this volume that it left barely any room for dialogue. That being said, I’m very excited to see it in the anime.
Anya is adorable as per ALWAYS.
I adore Loid in this volume. He’s trying so hard and it’s so sweet. I love that he considers being a good dad to Anya as part of his mission.
Yor is a bd btch and I really loved her mental development in this volume. Yor is a protector. We see that with Yuri. But now that Yuri is successful, Yor has found a new passion in keeping Anya safe and impressing Loid with her domesticity. It’s hilarious and so heart warming.
I've kind of lost the enthusiasm for this story. I adored first three volumes but the missions started to bore me and I'm not even sure why exactly. We get to know characters better and there is some depth to them and the action scenes are still great but the main story is starting to read like a filler one. I'm struggling and I hate it because I was so happy when I started this story and there were many laugh out loud scenes. Now it's all meh and flat.

3.5 ★ Still love this series and the family has my heart. I just wish we got more of them being together as a family on the cruise. However, it was nice to see more of Yor and her being an assassin.
Okay, the side stories are really great it is such a slow burn and I really don’t care if it is relevant or not relevant to the main plot. I just love it, not a single dull moment. One thing that I just hate about it because it has an ending. I don’t want it ending any time soon.
Sadly I’ve come to the conclusion that this series isn’t for me. I find the story boring and dragging now and the “humor” isn’t very funny nor do I usually get it. A few things I DID like was a couple things Anya said made me chuckle and Yor’s coming to realize her “fake” family means more to her than she first realized. I also think this might be a series I would connect to better through the anime but with no streaming service I guess I’ll never know, haha.
Otherwise I find the characters to be kinda stagnant as they don’t seem to be moving ANYWHERE plot or character wise though I’m sure this is just a personal preference on my part. Also the violence jacks up A LOT to more R rated blood spewing and a massive body count I was really uncomfortable with. So if you are a sensitive reader to hard core graphic violence and blood DO NOT READ THIS VOLUME because I don’t think you’ll like it.
Sadly this series just isn’t for me despite liking the first four volumes. ☹️
Sensitive Reader Rating: R
‼️Content‼️
Language: dammit; what the heck; damn; hell
Violence: LOTS of brutal fighting with weapons and hand to hand with LOTS of spewing blood (rated R); several men get broken bones from various characters (on and off screen); LOTS of people die and there are many bodies that are thrown into the sea; characters are shot and shot at; heads are stabbed with knives (rated R); a man is stabbed by his comrades; a punch to the head; injuries and blood (rated R)
Drug/Alcohol: characters drink; poisoned gas is sprayed in a woman’s face
Other: a character is an assassin; people are out to kill a woman and her baby
the most action packed so far me thinks 🤔 loved seeing yor in action, she’s a badass + anya is super cute and funny + twilight is such a cute dad send help
The series is hitting a peak, or hopefully a plateau (or even better a secondary peak) for me. The cruise ship adventure is not over yet, it started on volume 7 and it will only be concluded in volume 9 but it's such a good one - character development (mostly for Yor), Anya being Anya, the humor is so spot on on a few occasions (priceless Loid wanting to be cool, or Anya trying to distract Loid). Lots and lots of violence, and that is very much not my cup of tea, but the graphic visuals are really interesting.
Totally gratuitous little fanservice about Bond and Freddy dogsitting and a Freddy special which I enjoyed so much. Yes.
