Zombie curses, licorice witches and ghost children, oh, my!
When Luke Montague was hit by a truck, courtesy of Angharad’s witch magic, I was in shock. But, when he opened his eyes and looked up at me, saying “ma minette,” I knew my life would never be the same again.
And I was right.
But, even with Drake alive again, everything isn’t daisies and roses. No, far from it.
I’m still playing puppet on a string to Guarda (ahem, zombie puppet on a string) and important artifacts are still going missing throughout New Orleans, stolen at the hands of ghostly children. As if that weren’t enough, there’s a witch terrorizing the city with wands of licorice that turn into deadly snakes.
And my sudden onslaught of dreams of the Colonial 17th century are somehow related, I’m sure. In my dreams, I’m in a garrison under attack from ghostly invaders and they’re searching for someone—someone who, in turn, is searching for me.
Yep, just another day in the life of Peyton Clark, spiritualist, medium and perpetual mess up.
I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.
My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.
Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!
Peyton really seems like a real person, I really bond with her so I also really felt for her in this episode. Scary moments made me perch on the edge of my seat. And no, I hadn’t expected where the book took me. Well-written! I do have to say, I’m team Ryan, and hmmm, I just dunno how I feel about Drake. But I can’t wait to read on! I do wish I could give half stars because it was 4 and a half. Really good!
I absolutely love this series, so many twists and turns, so much mystery to solve and so much delicious sexual tension. All of the characters are amazing, have so many depths and facets and an abundance of personality. Match that with this epic storyline that keeps you wanting more and it makes for a series that keeps you from being able to put any of the books down once started! Highly recommend and I look forward to more.
This series is always so much fun because of all the NOLA folklore. That city just oozes in paranormal. I visited the city again recently and it was fun re reading this series. I like that we got more Drake but I'm def missing Ryan... Can't wait for the next one
Peyton and the gang are back and having one of the worst weeks of her life . Luke Montaque is dead and lying in her living room until the moment he opens his eyes and she hears mon minatte . Now her life is going to change and sometimes not for the better . She is still the puppet with the strings being pulled by Guarda . Now artifacts are being stolen by ghost children. If that isn't enough to drive a person insane there is a witch going around terrorizing people with licorice whips that turn into deadly snakes .Then there are the dreams of 17 century Colonial times where some one is trying to find her . This is a typical day in her life will she come out this with all her friends intact and will she be able to shake the zombie puppet from hell .
Peyton and the gang is back and honestly funnier then ever . Poor Peyton has had such a bad day and its only going to get worse . You really start to feel for Peyton . She is strong but she so trying hard to keep her life together. Drake is finally in the flesh and wow i must say you thought he was sexy as a ghost he is even sexier as a flesh man. They are such a great couple and i love how well they work together . Ryan is well he is really not himself and man he is just scary in so many ways . There are a couple of fun cameos in this book Wanda and Poppy make an appearance and man they just add to the chaos of the main characters .
This is a fun read , I really love this series so much . The authors really know how to take their characters and put them such fun characters . The characters are well written and getting more and more complex with each book . I found myself on the edge of my seat through out the book and then laughing uncontrollably. There are some great twists and turns through out this book and you will get sucked in by the end of chapter 2 . So if you want a great series check them out for your winter reading to get through the cold snap
This is book 10 of Midlife Spirits, a Paranormal Women’s Fiction series of novels from HP Mallory. The book is set in the Garden District of New Orleans, USA. There is some romantic interest although there are no scenes of a sexual nature in this book.
This series keeps on getting better. I am so invested in these characters. HP Mallory’s fluid writing style makes it easy to race through the book in an evening. Excellent character development and world building. I have a good practical knowledge of modern western witchcraft but for me these books have really sparked an interest in the Voodoo practices from New Orleans.
This story takes an unusual turn by briefly pulling in some characters from Mallory’s Haven Hollow series for a cameo. It is relevant, so it does work, although I was surprised to see them there. You don’t need to have read the Haven Hollow series to understand their role in this narrative, however if you haven’t read them, I recommend that you do.
As with most of the books in this series, just as you think you know what’s happening and where the story is going, Mallory throws in a curve ball and you head off in a new direction. Although I was confident in some of my predictions, I did not expect the endings I got in these last two books. I cannot wait for book 11.
The reading order for this series is as follows:
Book 1: Afraid of the Dark Book 2: A Ghost of a Chance Book 3: Mischief Brewing Book 4: Bump in the Night Book 5: Bone Voyage Book 6: Deadly Intentions Book 7: Ghostly Gathering Book 8: Magic in the Night Book 9: Making Spirits Bright Book 10: Hauntingly Happy
Hauntingly Happy is book 10 in the Midlife Spirits series featuring Peyton Clark series. Picking up where book 9, Making Spirits Bright, left off, Peyton finds herself face-to-face with a very dead Luke Montague. When Luke re-animates though, the person looking back at her is decidedly not Luke. If she thought her world was crazy now, it’s about to crank up a few more notches.
The ghost children are still stealing certain artifacts from various placed around New Orleans. Mysterious women keep popping up in Peyton's dreams, visions, and life. There is no end to the weird occurrences in this book. I love the crossover into another series by H.P. Mallory and J.R. Rain. This installment of the series is fun, scary, and full of twists, turns, and surprises.
I love all the characters in this book. Petyon is a fantastic heroine. Drake, Maggie, Lovie, and Ryan make for a well-rounded support system for Peyton They are likable and complex. I enjoy the smooth and conversational writing style. The story is fun yet terrifying. I found this novella completely engaging, fast paced, and I couldn't put it down. The characters have grown throughout the series and the authors do a wonderful job writing them. The storylines in the book are not resolved, leaving the reader with a cliffhanger ending. I'm excited to read the next book.
I was asked to be one of the first to review this book. At the end of the book it didn't seem all that wonderful . In fact, I was kind of confused. So I went back and did a Bing read of the whole set. With TBE story so set in my mind, it was fantastic! I have always liked Mall let's work with Deluxe O'Neal my favorite. ( Read 3 times.) This series closely rivals that one for my favorite. You are left aching for the situation. Peyton loves both men in her life. Ryan is a good man, great to be around, fun to be with, and a considerate lover but Drake has known her every thought intimately since she ever his life by housing him in her body. How could they not know each h other better than they knew themselves. This situation brings to the forefront the fact that they are ment to be they are soul mates. But Drake is dead and Ryan is not what kind of life would she have if she chose Drake he's just a ghost. I didn't know where Mallory was going with this. I thought she had painted herself into a pretty lonely corner with this story line but she pulled it off beautifully. I can't wait for the next book when I get to see where this romance goes now that they are on equal footing in a relationship!
Okay here's the thing, I love this series I honestly feel like it take her a lot longer to put these books out then she do all her other books. That's just my opinion, here's where my problem come in at. I feel like her books are getting shorter and shorter with this series soon as I start to read it I feel like Bam it ends just as quickly as I start the book. I'm starting to feel like she does a rush job on these books just to put them out. Then you have to wait forever for the next book to come out. Other than that this will be my only problem with this series. I love it even though she takes So long to release these books.
This book puts Payton in some difficult situations. She is facing a zombie invasion and trying to find ties with the witch that has been causing all kinds of trouble. She seems to have no clue how the men in her life feel about her. Drake being in flesh is a bit more than I expected. I am on Ryans side. I don't think her and Drake work. Nice to see some of our friends from the other series. Nice to have everyone together every once in a while. The end was a shock that will leave you with feelings you may or may not want. It ends with a bam. very enjoyable book.
Peyton is dealing with the zombie curse and everything that happened to Luke and Drake. Peyton will try to find out more information on the witch that is causing all the trouble. Peyton has to figure out what her feeling are for the two men in her life.
This was a good story but I am not feeling the Peyton and Drake storyline. I did like the connection she had with Ryan. I feel like Drake is annoying side note from the beginning of series. Looking forward to the next book in series.
Peyton is back with her friends both human and ghostly. Peyton has a curse and a limited time left. The only thing that's keeping her going is a little something that Poppy came up with.
Luke gets run over and killed but Drake takes over his body. Now, he gets to find out, first hand what life is like to experience.
There is lots going on in this book and The next isn't set to release until December. So read slowly and enjoy!
There's plenty of twists and turns in this installment of the series, some I saw coming and some I did not. Ryan's role is smaller since the break up in a previous book but I'm sad that no one was taking care to make sure he was all right. I would be okay with never hearing from Guarda again. She scares me. My very favorite part was the cross over with Wanda and Poppy!
I have waited so long for this book & it did not disappoint! It was great to get back to Peyton & Drake. It does end with another doozy! I’m unsure how I feel about the crossover with Poppy & Wanda, but we will see how it plays out. Looking forward to the next book in this series. I love Peyton & Drake!
This was the least favorite of the series. seemed a bit all over the place and way too many storylines going on, it read as not being focused. The ending was fire and can't wait to see what happens next. I do love how drake is alive now and feel bad for Ryan but knew this was happening to him. Hope they can save him, but still don't want her with Ryan.
I was really looking forward to this book. I thought the beginning would be a fun and sexy celebration if Drake and Peyton’s good fortune. But no. Nothing fun at all. She makes him a sandwich!!!! I’ll update if I read the rest later.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was action-packed and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series.
