This is an Audible exclusive and honestly it works so well because it's an audiobook. Nancy Cartwright is the voice of Bart Simpsons one of the most iconic cartoon characters to grace television. And she tells the journey of landing the job (and her work prior to it) and beyond in this cute story. The way Nancy tells the story feels like you're with a friend, sharing a couple drinks in the parlor and swapping stories. Nancy's story isn't without it's tragedies however and there were a few times I teared up listening to it. A definite must for Simpsons fans, and a quick 7 hour audiobook.

Maybe if you are a Simpson’s fan you will enjoy this book! She got lucky a lot in her life it seems. Her voice gets annoying after some time. I did like knowing more about the inner workings of a TV show and esp the writing! Her tone when offering advice seemed preachy to me. Also I still can’t believe she thinks L. Ron Hubbard is in the same ballpark as Disney and ML King!
At least it’s relatively short. Listened to the audio book.

This was such a fantastic listen. I really enjoyed hearing Nancy's voice in sharing her history as an actor, voice talent, and creative person. The insights into the world of animation and The Simpsons was fantastic, and her own performance in reading this book aloud is evidence of her divine talent as a professional voice actor.

I loved that she performed several of the voices she has become famous for, and also those really cheeky moments where she "broken the fourth wall."

She shares her story with wonder, honesty, and humility, and I have to say I adore her even more for all she has done and continues to do.

I found this thoroughly enjoyable. So much so that I invited Nancy to the Writers and Illustrators of the Future Podcast where we talk about her book...and especially my favorite chapter, #28 – Six Salient Steps to Successful Survival. These are steps that can apply to anyone to help them attain success.

I am a big fan of The Simpsons and am fascinated by the voice acting and animation industries so this was a great listen for me. I love the use of audio clips to illustrate the stories - we hear Nancy Cartwright talk about a scene of a line of a sound and it's followed sometimes by a clip of it.
Cartwright is a confident, energetic and joyful performer and I was entertained thought this audiobook. It's one of those listens where I almost feel like I have met her!
Some reviews complained about the celebrity name-dropping but I didn't mind! There were great stories about guest stars that made it fun to hear.
Cartwright also talks about her life, family and other projects so it wasn't totally Simpsons dominated but I loved hearing her talk about The Simpsons and switch into her roles.

or all '90s kids that planned their Sunday and Thursday nights around the folks of Springfield, this audio book is a must. I deserves a Krusty brand seal of approval. But I like that it goes beyond just the voice and making of The Simpsons, we learn about the incredible talent on the other side of the microphone. Nancy shares heartfelt stories about losing her parents, helping her brother during some rocky periods of his life, and hearing the shocking news of Phil Hartman's death.

Listening to her narrative this book, I can hear the characters' in her natural voice. Ralph is the most obvious, with Bart a bit more subtle

It was an interesting read in the beginning to know how things work in the craft. The end felt a bit rambly and then a bit like propaganda with the slide into mentioning Scientology. It did make me interested of the behind the scenes with voice acting.

This is an awesome book about a very special person. TBH I never really watched The Simpsons. Growing up my parents thought it too crude and bad of an influence on me so I just never watched it. (Using Nelson Muntz Voice) HA HA (Back to my voice) I started watching it as an adult though and it's still awesome! I do remember seeing the movie though and I thought that's when my interest was peaked.

Nancy is an amazing person and so super talented. It's been fascinating and at times poignant, to hear her life story and how she got started in the business. Who knows she might have just made another simpsons fan out of me. IDK we will see :-)

I love reading autobiographies about people. You get to hear their stories from their perspective and get to kind of know a little bit more about them. Nancy seems like a fun and awesome person to be around and I wish her nothing but the very best in the future with her career and family. Also, for her retirement raising those chickens :-)

Thanks, Nancy! I loved hearing about your life. I laughed, I cried and was inspired. I’m 40 years old so The Simpsons have always been there for me, I can’t remember a world without Bart, and I wouldn’t want to. Nancy Cartwright is a true legend and deserves all the good things that have come her way and more. I’m going to have my kids who are 11 and 12 listen to this as well, as an example of going for it and living one’s dreams. This audiobook was interesting, well-produced, hilarious and smart. Great celebrity tea as well! A must for any Simpsons fan!

This was a fun book. I experienced the golden age of the Simpsons in my youth and ever since they are dear to me. Hearing Nancy retell her side of that phenomenon, sometimes in the voice of Bart was a treat. It is inspiring to hear about her early years trying to find a way into voice acting, her sheer drive and then how she found the ultimate big break.

I remember being somewhat surprised when I first heard that Bart was voiced by a woman, but now I realize how much of Bart would never have been without Nancy.

Hearing Nancy perform these familiar voices: great. Sound clips: great. I think highly of Nancy Cartwright, but this book was not as interesting or as satisfying as I expected going into it. One reason why is her writing is often too wordy. Just didn't flow in a relaxed, typical speach pattern - wish a strong editor had been working with her. This did bring back many memories of Simpson episodes, and Chapter 18 on writing the show was very interesting.

AUDIBLE! If you're a fan of "The Simpsons" (and/or Nancy Cartwright) this is the book for you! I've been a little obsessed with her since the documentary "I Know That Voice" from like 2013. After hearing Nancy Cartwright on a podcast with Rob Lowe, I immediately downloaded the audible "I'm Still a 10-Year-Old Boy." Fascinating details about a TV show I've grown up with and one of the women that has given life to so many characters.

I believe this only exists in audio format and to be honest, it could only work that way. While Cartwright does have lots of great stories to tell, my level of interest heavily relied on her unique storytelling and her ability to weave in the many voices for which she is known. Her high energy storytelling can be a bit exhausting, but that’s not really a fault. Fun read. For Simpsons fans and anyone interested in voice acting.

Bart Simpson was a huge part of my childhood. Yes, I am old enough that I first saw Bart on the Tracey Ullman Show. And then later I enjoyed the weekly sitcom. While I do not tune in as religiously as I used to, when I do see a show it is just as good as I remember.

I enjoyed learning about the person who brings Bart to life, but also the peek behind the curtains on the show as well as voice-over work in general.

this audiobook really showcases the strength of the medium, not only do you get the story from the voice of Bart Simpson, but there are extra's: short soundbites from the show, and also excerpts from personal tapes.

I thought it was a really interesting listen, though I must admit I'm a huge fan of the show, so I may be biased.

The Simpsons is arguably my favourite show, which is why I picked this one, but this book doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. It's partly a memoir, partly a description of how cartoons get made, and partly a self-help book (?). The cover says "includes TONS of cast and guest-star voices" but that's only because random Simpsons audio clips have been sprinkled in.

As a Simpsons fan, and a lover of biographies, I just loved this book.

Talks about her journey, and how she just kept following her inner voice and it lead her to some pretty amazing places.

Well worth it to read.

My husband and I listened to this on a road trip and it made for a fun one. I love listening to autobiography audiobooks in particular, and Nancy Cartwright is a good storyteller. She's fun, funny (of course), and interesting. I definitely enjoyed this one.

Fun to hear the back story of Nancy and how Bart came to be. Fascinating to learn how the Simpsons animation process has evolved over the decades. A quick and fun read.
